Very nice....glad to see the wife out helping you...now if I could only convince my wife. Thanks for sharing bud...will have to borrow this...as our master bath needs some more storage space
Thank you SO much for this video. I spent the better part of a day looking for a video exactly like this and had no luck. I have a cabinet that is about the size of just the middle section of your sink base and my wife wants two slide out shelves on each side of it for the pats and pans. I was trying to figure out how to support the upper drawers and this is exactly what I was looking for. I think I will need to add some more bracing to the board at the back of the cabinet and for the supports along the stile in the middle due to the extra weight this will be supporting.
Rick Bruemmer so glad that this could help you. I get a lot of feedback from this particular video and they mainly state that it is exactly what they were looking for.
Good video-as a plumber I would suggest that the units under the plumbing be totally removable to access and work on the plumbing that at some point will leak. Very well thought out to gain extra space.
I've done this with many of the stock built cabinets in our last three homes. I also specially sized and built two different types of spice storage drawers. One was under cabinet, the other was under a shelf in a pantry. Both were sized and divided to organize spice bottles. Of course use full extension slides so you don't waste any space at the back of the drawer. Great project Drew, and great video.
Good job I like the way you made the drawers. That is much faster than dovetails and very easy to make. They are also strong, the front won't pull off.
Nice job. The beadboard was a great idea, looks nice. I need to do something like this in the kitchen. You may want to cover the space between the supports on the lower shelves, stuff is going to fall in that little space just because it's there
I'm hiding this video from my wife. She will add this project to the ever growing list of things she wants me to build for her. But, in all seriousness, I've been looking for videos showing the process of building these same exact kind of drawers for our small and cluttered pantry. You made it look simple and easy. Thanks, Drew! Also, I'm thoroughly enjoying the podcast you're doing now. 👍
Hey Thanks Josh I really appreciate it. You don't know how many people have told me that they are hiding this from the wife! It's funny to hear. Thank you for the compliments on the podcast. It means a lot.
Nice project, Drew. Looks like you gained quite a bit of storage space. I can think of several cabinets in my house that could use something like this. Dan
Great Idea! Every vanity needs one of these. I might have to make one for mine. Great video too. I would love to be able to make my videos look as proffesional as yours. good job!
Thank you and if you looked at my past videos when I first started you would notice that they sucked. LOL. You get better with practice. I have over 100 videos of practice.
Yeah. I am hoping with practice mine will get better. I need to experiment with lighting and possibly get a better camera. I am just using my iPhone6 right now. It does the job. Thanks for the reply. Means a lot
Hey drew thats awesome! Did the same for some friends years ago and even took off the fake fronts and added one drawer to each side of the sink and the center one became a flipout! Keep it up!
This is an awesome idea. Was also waiting for the rail installation part. I never done anything thing like this but i am inspired to try😳 (Watch me Good it up) lol Thanks for sharing👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I did this in my Mom's kitchen island for her birthday last year. I took out the mullion between the cabinet's 2 doors, and attached it to the left door. Most-used things are stored behind the right door. Then installed 2 large trays, mounted on full-extension drawer slides. Everyone who saw it thought is was cool. Except my Mom, who threw a cow at me over it, a month later. Lesson learned: Do not build things for my Mom. Or I will get verbal farm animals shoved down my throat.
I don't have table saw too make all those different cuts in wood. Can you use a Kreg Jig to make shelves? Also how do you make them slide in and out? Don't the shelf have to have to be attached to wheels or sliding mechanism? Appreciate ANY help!
Wow..you are not only dreamy good looking but handy around the house too.....I am soooooo jealous...my fiance is an all trade craftsman but nothing gets done in our house. (His bright blue eyes and good looks aren't cutting it anymore...I want my dang slideouts) I make his breakfast, pack him a lunch and make dinner every night...among all my other household duties and keep my man happy in all ways possible. What am I doing wrong?
Pro tip: if your fiance is anywhere near as frugal as my husband, you might try saying something like, "Honey, since you don't have time to make my slideouts, I think I'm going to hire a handyman to do it." At my house, that means it gets done the following weekend. BOOM!
Confession, though: this has limited effectiveness. I save it for electrical work (which intimidates me), working on the car (which would hurt my back), and moving heavy things (which would also hurt my back). If it's building, painting, drywall repair, or plumbing...he knows I can do that and wouldn't consider paying someone else to do it. So that doesn't work for me.
You prolly dont give a shit but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch all of the new movies and series on Instaflixxer. Been watching with my gf these days xD
Ah okay. Well yeah for a door of that height that might be a problem but as I said my kitchen drawers work just like that and I never had to move to the side of the drawer. (My drawers are about 2/3rds of the height of the ones in this video)
Hey Anthony. These hinges can be purchased at any local big box store. These in particular are called frame mounted half inch overlay European-style hinges. I hope that helps. These came with the cabinet but I, myself, have purchased these as well in the past.
Welp....I watched this entire vid waiting for "how to install the drawers." I already made drawers, but cabinets AND drawer slides can be quirky and I'm having a hard time finding what type should be used in a bathroom vanity cabinet and for this type of application. :/
This is a great tutorial but I cringe when you say your using headboard on the bottom. It will never be clean, it collects things like no ones business...
There is a cleat that is pocket screwed to the cabinet sides since the back was too thin to screw to. This cleat allowed me to pocket screw the slide supports
Newb question. I see you spaced the 1x4s off the ends of cabinet. is that to line up with the doors? I have the same hinges. If so where do the pocket screws attach to on the door side? face frame? thanks I have an 8 ft cabinet that just a box and doors lol
KissMyAxe i'm hoping that I'm reading your question correctly, they attach on the inside portion of the face frame. They are just offset because the door sticks inward because of the hinges. If I mounted it flush with the face frame I then the drawer slides would hit the door.
Rock-n H Woodshop yes. I revisited the video and at 2:08 you show how you atrached to the face frame. sorry about the confusion haha. appreciate the reply 👊
+KissMyAxe I made the 1x4's sit proud of the face frame because the drawer slides would hit the cabinet doors as the drawer is extended. If you notice when you open the doors on your cabinets they are not backset enough for a drawer slide to clear. So you have to accommodate that.
Wow, tell me how you really feel about it. Wink wink, just kidding. 😂😂😂 no seriously my music has not been used lately and I will probably keep it that way. I'm going in a new direction! It's one of those live and learn things. You won't hear it anymore🍻🍻🍻!!!
The title of the video says “HOW TO”, but you really didn’t explain the process. You just showed some of the things you did. It skips a lot of the process. Sorry but this wasn’t helpful. This is not a “how to” video, it’s more of “What I Did”
Very nice....glad to see the wife out helping you...now if I could only convince my wife.

borrow it all you want. It really works great!
Thank you SO much for this video. I spent the better part of a day looking for a video exactly like this and had no luck. MichaelJones59 They are removable but you will need to unscrew them and then just put them back. Thank you for the suggestion and comment!

Great project Drew, and great video.
I love drawers in any lower cabinet. Open cabinetry sucks. Thank you for sharing and commenting
I really like the drawer joinery, looks solid. Great job explaining it, too. Gotta love getting organized!
Awesome looking drawers and great idea for organizing in vanity.
Good job I like the way you made the drawers. That is much faster than dovetails and very easy to make. They are also strong, the front won't pull off.
I really like doing lock joints on the shop drawers and when I am in a very tight timeline.
Nice job. The beadboard was a great idea, looks nice. I need to do something like this in the kitchen. You may want to cover the space between the supports on the lower shelves, stuff is going to fall in that little space just because it's there
Good idea! Thank you very much for sharing.

You're most welcome.
The drawers turned out really nice Drew. Great job!
Thank you
Now that's a great way to super charge cabinet storage.

Another great project Drew. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Shane, appreciate you sharing and commenting. Blades are in the mail Monday!
Good deal. I'll be looking for them.
Really nicely done.
Thanks Drew - nicely done
I plan to do something like this under my kitchen sink. Thanks for the vid!
My mother in-law seen this video today and wants me to do the same for her.
Nice project, Drew. Looks like you gained quite a bit of storage space. I can think of several cabinets in my house that could use something like this.
Dan
Knotheads Cny You're welcome and thank you
Awesome 👌 Pawsome Rock-n H WoodShop~~~♤♤♤♤♡♡♡♡Thank you!!!!
Great use of the space, good job.
Thank you
Nicely done Drew!

bead board is a nice touch!
Very nice job
Thank You!!!
Hey drew thats awesome! Did the same for some friends years ago and even took off the fake fronts and added one drawer to each side of the sink and the center one became a flipout! Keep it up!
Great idea. I know we could use this.
Glad you liked it and yes you will like to have these in your cabinets
super interesting! makes me want to try even though I'm not manual at all
Great job I need to work on this project asap. Thanks drew
Good job Drew. Drawers look great!
Thank you! So glad you liked it!
Did this in our new master bath. Mahogany cabinets with 2" thick Mahogany top
Nice video. I need a set almost exactly the same.
+Greg Stewart You will love them when you use them for the first time.
This is an awesome idea. Was also waiting for the rail installation part. I never done anything thing like this but i am inspired to try😳
(Watch me Good it up) lol
Thanks for sharing👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks! I want to make some drawers in my cabinet only vanity. This helped :)
+Lisha Yost awesome. Glad I could help.
Very neat. Thanks for the inspiration.
As always Rock-n H Woodshop excellent job.
Thank you Mike, glad you liked it.
I really have to do that to both bathrooms, and under the kitchen sink.
Great job :)
when will your Woodworking TV show appear?,, great stuff.. really good..
Great job !!!.
Good project Drew! So much generic user-unfriendly cabinetry out there, mine too. Makes me think Hmmm... why didn't I do that sooner??? Thanks
You are welcome! You will like them.
*Very good at least I like it*
Looks great. BOOM to the wife... Lol
Wish I had those skills!
I suggest you put 'covers' on the gaps between the drawers. Can't be easy getting some things out of the gap, when they fall in there.
Your wife wields Thor's hammer pretty well. You better not piss her off. 😁
I’ve taught her well. Too well! 🤣
Not letting my gf see this video. Lol.
Nice job Drew! Came out great
BOOM! Hiding the important honey do videos.
nicely done Drew - I think most of us could use a bit more organization
Thanks Nick! I still have tons more organization projects to go!
do you have a video on how to make J Grooves or C grooves for handleless kitchen doors? I'm into renovating my kitchen currently..
Great idea thanks for sharing
Thank you! They get great use.
Gonna go pick up some ply in the morning! I'm know this will be a welcome addition for us as well.
Sweet, send me pics
I didn't see the type of slides that you used for these drawers. Please let me know. Thanks.
Good video. Even better because your wife was in it.
She does add a bit of class to the vids doesn't she?
Great idea.
L.Zaccaro
Thank you, glad you like it.
Great video. Feel free to turn the volume of the 'music' down just a tad if you wish. If not then just keep up making great videos.
Thank you
you are welcome and thank you for watching.

Wholly crap, I just laughed for a good minute thinking of this. This was hilarious.

I'd love to see how to install the sliders.
Me too!!!
I think I can accommodate that.
Boom goes the dynamite!
BOOM!
Very nice but how are the glides done?
Thanks for sharing :D
it's coolz
Is there any video you can prepare to provide knowledge of carpentry without using expensive equipment?
Hot stuff!
You hittin' on me Cremona??? Just kidding! Thanks for sharing and commenting Matt.
Rock-n H Woodshop
haha! You picking up what I'm throwing down?
I smell what you're stepping in! Lol
Rock-n H Woodshop
Hopefully I'm stepping in flowers and other nice smelling stuff
You prolly dont give a shit but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch all of the new movies and series on Instaflixxer. Been watching with my gf these days xD
HA that boom thing is hilarious! sub'd!
+Youbones No, it isn't.
Mark W perhaps not year later eh bud
I think I would have dismounted the doors and then mounted them as fronts for the lower drawers.
+Martiesim - Not a good idea, then the 'door' is in the way EVERY time you want to open that portion.
I don't understand what you mean. My kitchen drawers work just like that and I got no problems with it.
The door can't be moved out of the way! You have to move around the 'door' to get to anything inside the cabinet.
Ah okay. Well yeah for a door of that height that might be a problem but as I said my kitchen drawers work just like that and I never had to move to the side of the drawer. (My drawers are about 2/3rds of the height of the ones in this video)
nice considering doing something similar now, one question have you had to work on the plumbing and does it complicate things
No I have not but that is why I used pocket screws. I can remove them if I need to. Works great.
Hey Drew, just wondering how your Porter Cable drill set are holding up? BOOM! :-)
I love that set, and the batteries rarely need charged. I've only charged them twice since I bought them. Very stout suckers!!!!
Rock-n H Woodshop Yeh they look pretty sweet, thanks!
1:47 Does it help on the precision when you make those faces? Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong!
Stick your tongue out too.
Hey what type of hinges do you have there? I know they are European or concealed hinges, but the frame mounted part I have never seen before..
Hey Anthony. These hinges can be purchased at any local big box store. These in particular are called frame mounted half inch overlay European-style hinges. I hope that helps. These came with the cabinet but I, myself, have purchased these as well in the past.
Thanks Drew, and thanks so much for taking the time to reply. Enjoying your channel.
Gee thanks! I know how to make the drawers. How do you mount them???!!!???
Got your back. Watch this. INSTALL Drawer Slides in Cabinets FAST! ua-cam.com/video/l1fQNIV34R8/v-deo.html
Those groves in bottom of drawers would be harder to clean wouldn't they
Just depends on what is kept in them. But so far it’s fine.
*Beadboard
Yes, I agree.
How did you attach those cross pieces that support the slides? The video is pretty useless if you dont show that step.

What kind of wood are you using for this project?
+Chorchas68 it is half inch plywood with 3/16 inch bead board
Should have put the bead board bottoms in upside down.
My wife’s preference. Otherwise we would have used flat ply.
Well it looks good but will be problematic to clean out. The small stuff the will collect in the groves. Been there done that. ;~)
Agreed but what can you do huh?!?
The customer is always right. ;~)
You asked for a tip. Buy a metric tape measure and use it. Do not convert. Within a few projects you will throw away the imperial tape measures.
I've thought about it. I think I will start putting out plans with both too. Thanks for the insight Peggy.
Go metric!
I see the make part but where's the install part?
Check out my back wall cabinet build when I made the drawers. Great instruction on drawer install.
Nice video but really, why the head banging music at intervals and while you’re talking? had to click off!

Your wife going to buy more shit that she doesnt need lol. Jk nice built bro.
+bentley TRAN LOL, that is probably true!
I did it with the Woodglut plans.
He is so handsome
+His Love Thank you
Turn off that annoying music!
Wow, tell me how you really feel about it. Wink wink, just kidding. 😂😂😂 no seriously my music has not been used lately and I will probably keep it that way. I'm going in a new direction! It's one of those live and learn things. You won't hear it anymore🍻🍻🍻!!!
why oh why do you need that bloody chain saw music otherwise a good video
The title of the video says “HOW TO”, but you really didn’t explain the process. You just showed some of the things you did. It skips a lot of the process. Sorry but this wasn’t helpful. This is not a “how to” video, it’s more of “What I Did”
i could not enjoy your video because of the thumping and discordant noise you were playing. Remember, not everyone appreciates that stuff.
Oh man this video is one of my earliest videos when my editing was still in the experimental phase. Sorry about that.
do NEVER try to make your video better by putting in loud music. Music doesnt make the video better.
Some of my earlier work. My videos the past 2-3 years are music free
good, some people have the music louder than their own voice. ...scary
Not really a “how to”, but more of a “watch me do some of the work”. 😕
+Mud Puppy well yeah but you did get to see how I did it. 😁
music is horrible
I will write the composer. Thanks.
Nice and easy.
