- Purchase a Kit and Use Your Know-how to Install Roll-out Shelves in Your Kitchen Cabinets
Widen your narrow cabinet openings to accommodate larger objects without damaging the cabinet doors or changing their appearance. Install sliding-shelf kits that you purchase, cut to size, and install in your kitchen cabinets for extra storage and easy access to items at the back. The kits join with dove-tailed sides and a tray bottom that is secured with screws.
The QuikTray rollout system is available online from quickdrawers.com.
The do-it-yourself rolling shelf kit can be found online at RollingShelves.com.

It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.
this was 4 years ago...... and today I am finally seeing it.. I searched the product, and will go to the store on payday to purchase it! Thank you Sir!
Thanks for sharing. All kitchens should be this way.
The funny thing is that just two years earlier, Ron uploaded a video showing us how to build these ourselves.
The best video ever! Thanks for making it.
Outstanding! This was exactly what I've been looking!
Great job Ron, Great to see you onYou Tube.
Great result. Premium cabinetry, for sure.
I’m loving your videos! Thank you!
OMGosh Thank You!! Exactly what I want and now I know how to do it!
That is a great idea. Organizes things and creates more space.
I just started seeing your videos, last night. nothing stops you. 👍
These are brilliant and your explanation on installation was first class. Thank you.
Great tips! Love all your storage.
This is wonderful. Makes such good sense. I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen. I found this just in time cause I was going to use the "other" brackets. This makes so much sense. Thank you, can't wait to order!!!!!
Nice job bud you definitely made everything look simple & easy , thanks
Beautiful!! I LOVE these shelves so very much!! Wish I had these & wish they were as easy as he makes it look to install!!
great job there. A must for all kitchens
Awesome! Thanks so much for sharing.
Excellent! I have been waiting for a video that clearly showed me how to complete this task. I was worried about removing the board that supported the countertop and you even took care of that. I thank you Ron.
Family handyman magazine. Check it out. It will walk you through how to do all this kind of stuff. It will have cut list and things like that too if making them from scratch.
Wow they have a big kitchen! This is a very good idea, I’ll definitely be looking into it for our kitchen.
You are a very clever man, Mr Hazelton.
My kitchen cabinets are exactly like yours! Thank you for this video in showing it is possible to get pull out shelves in these type of cabinets. Just need to look for those partitions you spoke of.
Brilliant - job well done - you have a beautiful smooth voice and I really enjoyed watching your video - now I have to look for a man to fix up my kitchen - cheers from Canada
I just moved to a different house and my old house had roll out shelves..I miss them so much..now I can make my own!! Thank you Thank you!!!
Your technique looks great. The glides are "just OK" and the drawers appear substandard. I'll make my own with your inspiration. Thanks!
OMG! You've totally just made my life so much better and happier in my kitchen!!! Excellent video. So glad I came across you in my search! You have a fan follower. This is exactly what I was searching for. With your clear instructions, I think I can do it! :) Thank you!
Nice and now if I can get my hubby motivated
Great idea,,, I need this, thanks and God bless
Nice information, thank you. I’m looking forward to putting a couple in our kitchen. 👍
I love watching you work, you are so efficient, your tools work just right, you have all the tools you need, and the job looks great when you finish!
These roll-out shelves are MUST HAVES! I think I will have to pay someone to do this job.
If you go this route make sure to put rubber or plastic bumpers at the front of your shelf to prevent the shelf’s from marring the cabinet doors when they hit it.
dnthasslehoff
Did that once scratched the doors really ugly.
Great video and makes TOTAL sense to do this especially with the 'Full Extension' drawer runners that are so popular now. These enable the entire contents to be👍 completely viewable OUTSIDE the cabinet as you will know. Some great stuff around now.👍
Great video. I had no idea you could buy a drawer kit and appreciate seeing how easy it is to switch out to sliders. I'll be keeping this in mind for future.
Beautiful, well done 👍
I want mine like that ❤️‼️ awesome thank you ❗️
That was great! I really need this done at our house.
Heck.... another potential customer too far away.:-(
Thank you for sharing this! I've passed it on to my sister.
This is great! Thank you!
Cool!! I'm definitely going to have my hubby do this very soon!! ❤😁
You can tackle that job.. Some girls are real handy with tools.. check out April Wilkerson's channel.. She has a lot of good ideas and works with tools..
@@barsoom43 Yep. She totally rocks!
Exactly what I was looking for. I also have the center stiles between every two doors and didn't want very narrow pull out drawers. Thank you so much for showing exactly how you did it.
You all probably dont care but does anyone know a trick to log back into an instagram account??
I somehow lost the password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Austin Jalen thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Austin Jalen It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much you really help me out !
@Jefferson Theodore Happy to help :)
Fantastic!!
I don't know how this wound up in my recommended, but perfect timing! My Mom is looking to install sliding shelf/drawers into the large open cubby hole in her dresser to make it more useful. I'm also thinking we could do these in her kitchen cabinets as well.
Excellent video I would love to install these in my kitchen. It would increase our functionality ten fold!!! Great content......keep up the good work. Gigi
Excellent video!
Es una de las ideas más ingeniosas ✨ para los trastes de la cocina, muchas gracias por compartir, ya me suscribí 👍🏻😀, saludos 🖖
Outstanding
Love this 💕
LOVEEE it. Thanks
The cabinet shop I work for has used these for many years!
Good work!
Great video. I think i can do this...👍😊
I wish you can come over and install some drawers at my house. What an awesome guy.
Very nice thanks!
Very Nice 👍
I shouldn't have shown my wife this video. Now I have work to do this weekend.
Your wife is blessed that you can and will do this for her. 💖
@Noel Noel Mine too
You men complain but can be softies when you love your wife.
She would have much more fun doing it herself. The success of doing such a project is larger than you doing it for her. I’ve retiled, repainted my car, put up drywalls, electrical work, etc and find it incredibly therapeutic to do. Of course I asked for help if I needed a couple of extra hands but in most it’s very enjoyable.
Mother in law just sent me this video with an angel emoji attached. Guess I’m in for it too.
My wife said it hurt her back getting the pots and pan so i made these for her. I just got the sliders at hardware store and made shelves myself. Didn't cost much at all because i didn't buy the kits but they are nice. I can't say anymore then the ones i made but......
red royce are the tracks always on the side? Would be easier for me if they could be on the bottom of the cabinet. I don’t feel comfortable taking out the middle support
@@dcwatashi Then just add to the middle support or use the middle support as is. He did that to have a few wide drawers - you can always just match what you already have. But to answer your question, they do make undermount drawer slides.
So nice I like some👍👍👍
Need this in my kitchen.
I wish you could install my mom and I one of those in our kitchen man I needed a handyman
that is awesome!!!
GREAT, but WHERE do you find those AMAZING PARTITIONS, what a great quick idea.
This is the kind of guy who pulls your engine to change the oil lol, great video
Just great
I made a set from scratch using 12mm ply & soft close slides. So much more accessible in my old age
not really a easy DIY project, but you did a great job...bravo!
My stuff never just slides in and fits as perfectly as your stuff did!
EXCELENTE!!!! GRACIAS !!!
if your have a work shop and can build a box go buy some drawer slides and build your own for a lot cheaper. all the drawers in my home--and husbands garage--pull out and we built them ourselves 20 years ago.
And Ron showed us how to do this in 2017! ua-cam.com/video/RYz6odBgR1M/v-deo.html
Good job old man 👍🏽
Edward Elric hey, he can’t be that old, he’s having a baby :-)
Well what improperly way to call him old, I'm not against nothing or no one or afraid to be old, anyway im only 22. One day we all shall cross that bridge, at certain stage of our life. Don't forget best knowledge, wisdom and experience won't come out of Harvard, it comes from them, no ofense to the great institution but the big diference is the tuition.
good job!
Pretty cool...........
Another great video. I was waiting to see how you would address the missing vertical supports. Attaching them to the doors is brilliant. You need a stop for the attached vertical support, yes?
no, the door hits the face frame. The vertical piece is smaller on the top and bottom so it is recessed into the cabinet.
I do like when somebody thinks ahead. It seems it was all to be able to access the "tall bottles".
And so he can make use of the old Makita from like 20 years ago?
Now a days, we use better under mount glides with soft close doors.
And those of us with a shop similar to his wouldn’t buy a kit like that, either. We’d just make the drawers and use the better, more expensive slides. Then take the cabinet drawers, drill the 35mm insert and use those adjustable European hinges. But this video shows how anyone with just a hand saw to trim the sides and bottom to length can modify their kitchen to improve functionality. I wasn’t aware of this option and am happy he showed it.
job well done
You're a genius. We've got some horrible, old cabinets and you can't reach anything in the back of the damned things. My wife wants me to do this - wish me luck. Thanks for the video.
Oh man u r genius thank you so much
Mr Hazelton I wish i could have you as my neighbor for some help with these diy projects i am a dunce when it comes to carpentry i wish i could learn but i thank you for your help none the less take care and bs safe
If you are reconsidering this, I suggest using full extension slides. BIG difference for accessing everything on the shelf.
I wish you lived near me! I would hire you !
Brilliant when can you come to Scotland 🏴 and do my base cabinets lol
Brilliant! Loved this video. Pretty much drooled over your new pullout shelves! 😁
Good good no wonder Ron is always so cheery. Look at the liquor stash lmao
Did you make the partition? If not, where do I find one? OR, how can I make one? Your video is SO helpful! Thank you!
The adjustable feature is excellent. I don't like those type of drawer slides, though. Wish they had a way to do this with Blum tandem slides. I'm currently installing shelves with those, but I'm building new cabinets, so not very quick and easy ;)
I would add height to the back & side of drawers to keep stacked pans & miscellaneous from falling behind!
2:20 "i want to try to save these since i may be able to use them later on"... ahhhh, a man after my own heart... I long for the days when the family had 165 acres and unlimited space to store EVERYthing I ever came across.. My parents grew up during the Great Depression, so i learned NEVER to throw away anything that might possibly ever even remotely be something that could be used again. Does a 6 foot tall stack of used bailing wire sound familiar? Awesome video. As always, well done, cleanly presented, and once again, I come away searingly jealous of your workshop!
Great idea! Did the partition come with the kit, or did you make your own partition?
Where can you get the partitions? Didn't find them on the websites listed ... thank you!
You're kidding, right 🤣 this for advanced, not starters like me but thank you ur good 👏
I think his point in this video is that you ‘starters’ actually can do this because the kit provides everything and you pretty much fit it in an existing hole that you already have. The one portion I was disappointed in seeing was him in his shop using a cabinet saw. It may have been more in keeping with this build to use a hand saw to cut off the sides and the shelves. Those were the only ‘non-starter’ like things he did. You need to be accurate in those cuts but you need to do that on the table saw, too. Those of us with a shop like his wouldn’t use this kit. We’d build the drawers and use better slides. But you really can do this project with just a few hand tools such as hammer, tape measure small drill and screw driver and hand held screw driver. Break his video down into the pieces. Removal of unneeded parts, install provided supports, cut shelf parts to length then glue and screw together and install. You actually can do this. I’m 75 and can’t get up and down like before but if I plan properly I could have these parts in reach once I get on my back in that cabinet and screw them in place. Don’t be discouraged by his table saw. It isn’t required for this kit system.
Nice.
Exactly what I need for our new house which does not fit my disabled status. Our new kitchen has these annoying narrow face frame cupboards. Only the set under the stove have slide out shelves, but they are fixed and cannot be adjusted to fit our needs as the ones shown here are. I just have to unpack enough boxes to make room for my saw table, find the glue and the tools and the project will be underway. Since I'm not as flexible as I used to be I shall be accepting some help from my husband who can still bend down and crawl into cupboards as well as lift large pieces of plywood. It will be a family effort.
I like the simplicity also well explained Ron. This is quite a departure for you as you normally build from scratch. I think I will use this idea when I build out my pantry.
For cabinets I am a little lazy and use the existing shelf as a base for my sliders with undermount soft close drawer slides. Although I make the drawers so not being a carpenter it takes me longer, but it is fun.
So, is there information available for this system,. like how do I know what to order and what are the prices. Did you get the drawer pack and the fitting systems from QuikTRAY or are there two companies. Your feedback will be appreciated..
Thanks
Clever!
Excellent. Old-fashioned cupboards below counter should be outlawed, or at least relegated to the past. Also, that narrow cabinet would be nice as a deep 15-inch) drawer with vertical dividers for pie pans, cake pans, sheet pans, etc. I worked for woman who had this in her kitchen, and it was probably my favorite improvement. I WANT one, but can't have one just now.
Nice video.
This video honestly looks 20 yrs old. Not sure how they just recently uploaded it
Love your vids! this turned out great. You should 3000% get a push stick for that table saw though. Don't wanna be known as 4 finger Rach. 3:31
Great... so easy !! Just need to spend $850 on a new table saw.
celestialdream49 Nonsense I did the same thing in my own home with an old 1970s craftsman contractor saw that I paid $50 for. It honestly doesn’t even take a table saw to make something like this.
Can be done with a hand saw or a circular saw
Me too
Use a circular saw with a homemade straight guide jig.
🤣🤣🤣
fanbloodytastic!
That's what I was looking for. Great video, Great Help. where ddo i find the parts like slider kit, or a plastic wall which u created in cabinet after removing the front partition support.?
Very nice. Always wanted to do this. Unfortunately I live in a rental so I can’t make modifications to cabinets.☹️
Who would be apposed to pull out shelves! I would love a rental with these!!
