It never occurred to me that we have a choice in how we perceive ourselves, or as you better put it, to not perceive ourselves. Turns out to truly take care of yourself you have to not let the internal bully take over your existence. Really really insightful, thanks Sasha
I find it enjoyable to change how I perceive someone is feeling while I’m talking to them. So if they are mad or something I just convince myself they are excited. It’s not that hard when you get the hang of it.
you think just like me, i can tell. it's really cool to watch you think. you think just like me if i didnt shut my every thought down with some angry criticism but I feel like you do that too just in a chill way, unless I'm wrong.
Yeah that makes sense! I relate to both of y’all a lot actually 😭😭 I used to be very critical and angry about myself and my thoughts. It’s taken years to learn how to calm that down. What I’ve learned is that it’s hard, but it gets easier. You just have to do it everyday. That’s the hard part. (bojack horseman reference) You won’t be able to stop the angry thoughts, but you can talk to these thoughts after, and discuss it with them. Learn to notice the angry thoughts, then respond, for example: “You said that im stupid, but I know a lot of things. I’ve done so much in my life and worked so hard to learn more. I’m learning more every day. I’m kind, I’m caring, I’m creative. I’m not stupid at all. That’s very rude, please be polite. And anytime these angry thoughts happen, you can start correcting them. Separate yourself from these thoughts. Talk to them like they’re a Karen. You don’t have to listen to them or respect their opinions, you know who you are. Once you get used to this, and it gets easier, you’ll start to notice the voice getting quieter. After this, you can start thinking about WHY these thoughts are happening. Who/what made you feel this way about yourself? Did someone tell you to feel this way? Did they say something to make you doubt yourself? Start to process these thoughts and feelings in this way. Overtime, you’ll start to understand yourself. Come to terms with what happened to you. Move past it, accept that you aren’t your past. Those people sucked, but you’re so much stronger than they are. You’re healing. They can’t. But it’s not about them, so while you will go through the anger at first, eventually you’ll move through the other stages of grief and land on acceptance. The biggest part is being consistent, and being patient with yourself. You’ll have good days, and bad days. But if you keep with it, it will get easier. I hope this helps. Best of luck.
You're one of the most shockingly beautiful humans I've ever seen. Thank you for existing. Edit: Dunno if this was clear, but I didn't mean that in a physicality-based, simpey kind of way. (There I go, worrying about how I'm perceived again.)
Yessssss! Namo buddhaya 🙏 Anatta or no self is a fact of existence and a deep understanding. Its very hard to unpack dhamma for most but you just did in your own words by observing deeply. I think youde like buddhas teachings if you haven't already looked into it. you already get most of it without it lol but the practice helps
Really? It seems like it literally changed YOUR perception. You just cant imagine having different concerns about how others perceive you and the specific things they may think
