  • The fourth generation Cadillac Seville STS was Cadillac's mid-sized luxury performance sedan in the 90s, marking a turning point for the brand with its sleek exterior design, along with its performance-oriented powertrain and abundance of luxury features and technological innovation. It featured the powerful double overhead cam 4.6 L Northstar V8 engine in 1993, using a front-wheel drive configuration instead of the rear-wheel drive formula found in most European and Japanese rivals at the time.
    In this video, I will show you the most interesting and unusual features of the exterior, interior as well as the driving experience that this 90s Cadillac icon has to offer.
    Thank you for watching the video!

      @@rarebrownboi774 I still have my Eldorado in good standard and never had an issue with a blown gasket. I do my annual check up on my auto which I think is key for your auto longevity.

    Very nice looking car! I have a 1999 Cadillac Fleetwood Limited which has the Northstar and is a great drivers car with great power and a nice ride (and has the bonus of lots of legroom in the back.) I haven’t had any problems with the Northstar and love it. Thank you for bringing us this video, it is fantastic! And it’s neat to see you’re in Sweden, there probably aren’t too many Cadillacs around there!

      Thank you, the Northstar Cadillacs are indeed great cars and in my opinion underrated. I saw your Cadillac Fleetwood Limited on your channel, it is really stunning and in great shape!
      It is true that Cadillacs of this era are rare to come by in Sweden and Europe, which makes them even more special and exotic for us.
      Excellent channel and videos, by the way - I'm looking forward to watching more of your content. Keep up the good work!

      @@Auto_Lore I completely agree! So many people give the engines so much hate, but when its properly taken care of it is absolutely brilliant. And I love the sound of it too! Thank you, I'm glad you saw the video of the Fleetwood Limited! It's such a fun car to have.
      That is neat, I actually see a fair amount of this era of Cadillac's around but unfortunately they aren't usually in that good of shape. But I still view them as being very special
      Thank you once again! I'll be sure to go through your channel some more, I really like how diverse your content is and that you do lots of POV drives. They all look fantastic!

    My 97 has lights that turn on when you activate the blinkers in the side headlight assembly

      Those were called cornering lamps. I have them also on my 96.

      Very interesting, I was not aware of this feature. Perhaps it appeared in the facelifted version in the North American market? I suspect the export Sevilles never came with it.

    • @ScorpioKing95
      @ScorpioKing95 3 роки тому +1

      @@Auto_Lore I heard cornering lamps are not legal in many countries exported outside of the US. But here in America those function as cornering lamps and turn on when your blinker is activated.

    • @ScorpioKing95
      @ScorpioKing95 3 роки тому +1

      Have been a standard feature on Cadillacs since early 60’s

    • @Auto_Lore
      @Auto_Lore  3 роки тому +1

      @@ScorpioKing95 Interesting, thank you for sharing this information. That would be the most plausible explanation for the cornering lamps being omitted in the export versions.

    Hi, nice car! I have a US import 1992 plain Seville here in Switzerland. I did not know there were export tail lights with amber turn signals! For information, the corner part of the headlight assembly that does nothing on yours is supposed to be a cornering light that lights up when you put the turn signal. Maybe an compliance problem at the time...

    • @Auto_Lore
      @Auto_Lore  3 роки тому

      Very nice, I hope that your Seville is treating you well! It appears that the side of the headlight assembly indeed has the cornering light function on some North American models - I suspect that it might have been a compliance problem and thus omitted in the export version, like you suggested.

    • @Auto_Lore
      @Auto_Lore  3 роки тому +1

      I'm sorry to hear that, it seems as though many Seville/Northstar owners have had this misfortune. I'm not sure if this has to do with poor quality control from the factory or simply luck of the draw, construction flaws aside.

    In terms of build quality and material quality namely plastic, how does this Cadillac measure up to its European and Japanese rivals of the same era? Is it true that it’s subpar when compared to say a Mercedes?

    • @E34Benzin
      @E34Benzin Рік тому

      It has a very good overall interior quality, but it's not at the level of BMW or Audi from that time, not to mention Mercedes which was at the top (the W140 is umbeatable in that aspect, but it also cost twice as much as the Caddy).
      I would compare it to the Lexus LS 400 in terms of interior quality and fitmen, being the Cadillac slightly better imho. By the way the one I tested was a '97, whose interior is closer to the '95-'02 Lexus.

    I've always liked these cars, but I would hesitate on buying one with the Northstar engine. They have a reputation for blown head gaskets due to the small head bolts. There is a permanent fix for this which fixes the one flaw that keeps the Northstar from being a great engine. Here's a video that is the first of a series that covers this process. ua-cam.com/video/A1vc1-D1kXs/v-deo.html

      My dad had a 98 and just removed the front driveshaft, then he put front back and removed rear one to make it just front wheel drive to save a little fuel
