    As a owner of the 1997 2 door coupe ETC, Its been over a decade that I purchase the car from an elderly lady which she took care of the car. I never had any engine issues gaskets blown sky high myth, just the normal stuff such as changing radiator, coolant box, coolant hose and tension pulley which lasted since its initial release prior to me owning the car. Here in the States, the maintenance of the car is not too expensive as other videos and people claims it to be. Honestly, Its just right for my budget and the seats its just phenomenal and very relaxing. My advice for any Cadillac owners that own early 90's to late 90's model is annual check up(oil change/fluid flush) and tune up for engine longevity.

      Very nice, the Eldorado ETC is such a special and good-looking car. It sounds to me that your car has been well cared for its entire life and it evidently reflects on how reliable it has been. As for regular maintenance, it should indeed not break the bank unless you are unlucky or bought a neglected car. Solid advice, I completely agree with you!

      Just because your car never had a headbolt pull out does not "blow the myth". I have had 6 Northstar engines and NONE had this problem either and even that does not "blow the myth". There are hundreds, maybe thousands of Northstars with this problem.

    I have personally bought an owned two of these cars One I had for about 4 years and the other I had for 3 years. One was in an accident so I sold it because I simply don't like driving cars that have been wrecked. The other I had to let go because someone botched the transmission service. Other than that I didn't have the kinds of issues with mine mentioned in this video. Both were 93's and I had to replace a starter and water pump on one and alternator on the other. That was pretty much it and the cost of repairs in the shop were not terrible if you find a decent shop. I'm actually buying another one today if all goes well (94). Overall great video and very detailed. The design is timeless and I often got comments on how good it looked and most thought it was a newer model than it actually was.

    Great video! I love the design of these 92-97 Sevilles and I would really like to drive one, but owning it is probably too much, considering the issues it has.

      Thank you for watching! It can indeed be difficult to own long term if your budget is limited, even if it is not the most unreliable car out there. I hope you get to experience driving one at some point!

    I was looking for video like this for 2 years and finally, you convinced me
    to get one this spring. I'm also form Europe and I have theory based on my country forums and experiences forom owners that cars
    used in Europe don't have so meny problem with head gaskets because europe have better fule ( more octane ), people put coolant to radiator not water nad overall better maintain these cars, i have seen one with over 350k km sill on the roads, i have seen '96 deville with run on LPG gas for 4 years no problem

    • @Auto_Lore
      @Auto_Lore 3 роки тому

      Very nice, I am happy to hear that! I hope that you will be able to find a clean and reliable example out there. Those are very interesting theories as there seems to be many different causes of head gasket failure, you might be right that they are better maintained in Europe since they are more rare here. Impressive mileage on that car!

      It's not the head gaskets it's that the head bolts can pull out from the block. These years of North Stars are some of the worst. Year 2000 and up is much better and doesn't require premium fuel.

    Had a 96 with a gold paint job and cool chrome rims. Looked sweet and when it ran well it was amazing but it had intermittent problems that no one could solve, not even the Cadillac dealer. Had to sell it. Too many headaches. Sad to see it go. It hauled ass when it was running on all cyclinders which is not just a saying. Sometimes it would only run on 5 cylinders, stall, bog. 😂
