Enter Thanks for this video, I am connecting my dust collector to my cnc this weekend, also using 4 inch. I have a drop right above the cnc, definitely going to look at those magport connections!
I am glad it is helping, Dan. I have been really happy with the Magport couplings. They are a bit pricy, but it makes removing the dust collection line much easier. I have entered you into the giveaway :)
ENTER. I am obsessed with the Onefinity CNC and am saving up to order one as soon as I can. I like your upgrades so far. I think for me, the best features besides the extra rigidity is that you can run it from a thumb drive versus others requiring a computer to be connected and the additional cutting area that Journeyman has to offer.
Hey Tom! I share your obsession. It's an amazing CNC. Another great thing about the OneFinity is that you can actually send files to it over the WiFi network, so you don't even have to use a thumb drive if you don't want to. Typically I will complete my designs in my office and then just send it to the CNC control unit through WiFi and then begin cutting. It's incredible. Also, I have entered you into the giveaway.

enter Love the vids! I’ve wanted a CNC for the longest time but don’t have the space for it. Love to watch the process and the final outcome. Keep up the great work!
How does the dust collection run with limited air inrush space into the enclosure? It's one aspect I'm thinking over as I process a design that will be a lot about noise reduction and yet need effective dust control internally. I can use a water cooled spindle to reduce air blowout of dust which = less suction demand, and am contemplating a rear or top air inlet that is actually a stepped baffle with acoustic foam. Have you any thoughts on this from from your own cabinet. It looks quite well sealed with the main air ingress only possible betwteen the sliding front/rear portion :). I'ts a very nice design I must say!
Well done, now is this your full time job or second career? Thanks for sharing your work and most importantly, taping, editing, voice over and posting....
Thanks Robert. No, this isn't a full time gig for me. I am an engineer by day and a woodworker by hobby. I have really enjoyed making UA-cam videos to share my passion with other people and I hope it helps others along their woodworking journey.
Those are some great upgrades. What do you think about putting on an 80mm collar, which allows more Z axis movement. There's a UA-cam showing how it clears the stepper motor and gives you about 2 more inches of dimensional movement. I though you might have an opinion about this. Thanks.
I think it largely depends on the kind of CNC work you do. If you do a lot of projects with thick stock and need the extra Z axis movement, it’s something to consider. I haven’t ever needed that capacity for the projects I do so it wouldn’t be something I would upgrade personally.
@@EigenDesigns Makes sense. Thanks. What do you think of the QCW add on ? I notice a lot of UA-camrs don't have them. You don't either so you must not have thought it was worth it ? Still, Onefinity charges a lot for that unit so I'm trying to figure what is the value - is it just for additional stiffness and why would you need that I wonder. Or is it just for convenience in in swapping in new wasteboard - although it doesn't seem to me that it adds all that much more convenience. I'm getting ready to make the big purchase so I'm really trying to figure out what I need and don't need. Thanks again.
@@hv1461 The designers at OneFinity originally designed their system to be transportable and mobile so that users could disassessmble and reassemble with relative ease. For someone traveling with their OneFinity I could see how the QCW frame could be useful. For a hobbyist woodworker like me who will only ever use it in my shop, I decided to build a table dedicated to it and never take it apart. I hope this helps. If you're like me and don't plan on moving it, I would make something rigid out of lumber + ply yourself. Cheers, Mark
Awesome....that dust collection system looks like it could eat a small car! I know this wasn't much about bits, HOWEVER, do you find the extra $20 for a WS resurfacing bit is worth it? Dig the stuff you put out....keep on keepin' on.
Hey Jeremy. My general experience towards CNC bits is that you get what you pay for. I have tried buying the cheap chinese bits for my CNC work and I find that they don't last very long and end up leaving more burn marks when compared to the higher end bits. The whiteside surfacing bit was actually purchased after I tried a cheap surfacing on that left black burn marks on my spoil board. So for me, there's no question its worth it. Also, I bought a nice Amana set for my general routing work about 8 months ago and I am still using them. I haven't had to replace them yet. Thanks for the support bud. I really appreciate it.
Hey Chris. The sound dampening for the router is actually pretty good. I would guess it blocks out ~50-75% of the sound. However, the dust collector is what makes most noise in my shop and that is not at all dampened by the enclosure.

@@EigenDesigns I could be wrong, but I thought you said they disconnects were 3d printed. I was just asking what filament was used during that process. Thank you for the giveaway entry.
@@b3ardedbarbarian Ohhh, now I see what you are asking, thanks for the clarification. So the magnetic quick connect on the PWNCNC dustboot was 3D printed, but I have no idea what filament they used. The MagPort magnetic couplings don't look or feel like they are 3D printed.

I have been using a FS Tool LM4300 miter blade (amzn.to/3s22Ngm) for years and it still cuts everything like butter. I have had to cut some acrylic and some c-channel and it handles it no problem.
It's been a significant change Mike. When I surfaced my spoilboard that was almost no dust or shavings left behind. Now, this 4" upgrade was coupled with a dust collector upgrade so I can't really say what portion of the upgrade came from the 4" vs 2.5" line upgrade and how much has come from the newer dust collector. The two changes in combination have been a sunstantial upgrade though. I have entered you into the giveaway :)
Its been a signifcant upgrade Todd. Now, to be fair, I have also upgrade my dust collector so its not just the 4" vs. 2.5" upgrade having an impact, but the actual dust collector itself too. The two working together remove 99%+ of all dust generated at the router bit. I have entered you into the giveaway :)
Thanks Caleb. I have a video coming out soon with 5 CNC projects I run on my machine. Be on the look out for it within the next week. I have entered you into the giveaway :)
Hey Ormond, this is just the standard 4" dust collection hose from Rockler. They use the DustRight brand, but its a Rockler product. Here is a 2ft version on Amazon: amzn.to/3v7DPgB

Hey Brian. It's the 4" Dust Right hose from Rockler. There is one on amazon that is only ~2ft: amzn.to/3gGiIul but the Rockler website has it in longer lengths. I have also registered you for the giveaway :)
Thanks for thus informative video. One question, what type saw blade did you use to cut channel. I have a Dewalt 12" mitre saw. Thanks for your help.
I have been using a FS Tool LM4300 miter blade (amzn.to/3s22Ngm) for years and it still cuts everything like butter. I have had to cut some acrylic and some c-channel and it handles it no problem.
Enter, whenever I have an idea for my 1F you always out do mine 🤣 great video

Enter, nice setup
Hi. When preparing wasteboard, would it be a good idea that it could extend outside of the range of the CNC so it gives more room to clamp ?
That's a very good idea. It would surely help get clamping around the lower perimeter for the waste board.
enter Great video, is it really working that much better than the previous dust collection set up?
It's been a significant change Mike. When I surfaced my spoilboard that was almost no dust or shavings left behind. Now, this 4" upgrade was coupled with a dust collector upgrade so I can't really say what portion of the upgrade came from the 4" vs 2.5" line upgrade and how much has come from the newer dust collector. The two changes in combination have been a sunstantial upgrade though.

Enter - Nice setup! Did you notice a big difference with the 4" dust collection setup?
Its been a signifcant upgrade Todd. Now, to be fair, I have also upgrade my dust collector so its not just the 4" vs. 2.5" upgrade having an impact, but the actual dust collector itself too. The two working together remove 99%+ of all dust generated at the router bit.

What’s the blue hose specs and brand
Hey Ormond, this is just the standard 4" dust collection hose from Rockler. They use the DustRight brand, but its a Rockler product.
Here is a 2ft version on Amazon: amzn.to/3v7DPgB
