June Whitfield's big break was a lead in the radio comedy Take It from Here, which aired on the BBC Light Programme in 1953. Television roles soon followed, including appearances with Tony Hancock throughout his television career. In 1966, Whitfield played the leading role in the television sitcom Beggar My Neighbour, which ran for three series. She also appeared in four Carry On films: Carry On Nurse (1959), Carry On Abroad (1972), Carry On Girls (1973), and Carry On Columbus ( - Розваги

I remember June Whitfield from the early 1950s when she played the part of *ETH* in *TAKE IT FROM HERE.* I can still hear her voice saying *OH RON; BELOVED....* and it still cracks me up. I can also still hear the music interlude with Alma Cogan (who died back in 1966 aged 34 years from Cancer) and the Key Notes. Dick Bentley the Australian who died in 1995, and now I find myself living in Australia. Denis Norden and Frank Muir who also had a show of their own were hilarious. I unfortunately don't remember the name of their show. It may have been called *MY WORD.* What wonderful talents, June and the cast possessed. What wonderful memories of my childhood. RIP, June, Dick Bentley, Alma, Frank and Denis. Also wonderful memories of Tony Hancock. I still have the DVD's with the full series of Hancock's Half Hour. What wonderful days!

Alan that was really fabulous and a terrific tribute to a wonderfully funny, talented lady. She did so much in her life during her immense acting career and she was so very well known on the television. She was, in my eyes, sort of comforting, probably because she brings back so many childhood memories and she was so well known, and loved. What a marvellous age she lived to and what an incredible long long acting career. Thanks, as usual, Alan and thanks for your lovely words at the end.

She was warm, pretty, funny, seemed kind and the sort of lady every one of us wished she was a relative……still feel sad to think she has gone, but she will be happy reunited with her beloved husband. Bless you June for so much please….including the radio show Ron and Eth, with Harry Edwards, as Ron’s father…Eth was Ron’s sweetheart, but he was so slow… I can still hear her saying “ oooooh Roon!” In a lilting pleading voice. That was a funny radio show too. Thankyou for taking us to visit…and for taking a flower. I hate seeing or visiting
Graces with no flowers, and because of voracious rabbits fresh flowers aren’t lasting long, so folk are turning to silk flowers which are made so well these days. That’s ok, but please don’t leave forever as the combination of rain and sun bleaches these flowers so some nice fresh ones would look better. Make sure they are firmly fixed to tge grave, as often with the gales we keep getting I see pots of faded silk flowers blowing unkempt all over which can’t help the grass cutter! Thanks Beep beep! She was a guest on the Hinge & Bracket show they did on the wireless in 1990, she was singing and chatting with them, Hinge & Bracket sang at the closing 'if only he'd looked my way' from 'Gay's the Word', after June said "not a dry eye, that was lovely". Loved her in 'Last of the Summer Wine' as Nelly, with her unseen husband Travis.

Hi Yo he a pet to be a very jovial chap, but in reality he had quite a lot of affairs and when the series finished he suffered from his breakdown. I don't think he wasn't easy person to work with but she probably made it easy cuz she was such a professional. That's what I sent to remember. Thank you! See you soon

That's funny because my relations were named Whitfield on my side hers from Manchester my grandfather was Whitfield Taylor I wonder if she was related to me I've half and cut Manchester London Bradford as you know who knows my grad dad did say she was related to him but I and the grandkids took him as a pinch of salt

Hi Alan I had my MRI and 2 weeks for results I reschuled my C.T Scan and get it on 12 th Jan at 1PM the girl total me what I am to have done they want to scan Bladder, Abdomen, Pelvic area not sure what they are looking for? mate I will keep you up to date
