You have to do a Coheed and Cambria long form reaction to their four part Willing Well suite: Fuel For The Feeding End, From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness, Apollo II: The Telling Truth, and The Final Cut. Proggy deliciousness!

When you do BTBAM long form, try to set yourself up for a gapless switch between tracks on the same album so you can enjoy the transition and comment on it a bit into the next song (ei: The Black Box -> Telos -> Bloom, or Desert of Song -> Swim to the Moon)
If you want to hear two songs on different albums revisit the same motif, Specular Reflection and Extremophile Elite have my favourite instance of that.
Also if you do a 'Colors II' song, please make it Bad Habits 🤞🏻
I would highly suggest doing A/B sides of specific albums. Having a singular continuity and purpose of artistry/themes I think would be very impactful for yourself and the casual listener. Of course not all bands or albums fall within this… However, those that do are truly special and worth experiencing in their proper context.

"Plastic bag in the sea" is one of the most justifiably furious lines in music history.
It's honestly so powerful, by itself it sounds dumb but given context it's such a potent cry for help. So good
The background to their subject matter is really interesting too. IIRC they lived in a remote part of France near the coast and life was great, until there was an oil spill (or similar) that ruined the beaches and made it unswimmable and dangerous.

He goes 110% for every show. I saw them in 2019 right before covid hit and the dude was just ON the whole time. Seeing them live was intense.

Maaaaaaaan I absolutely love when Toxic Garbage Island goes into the "evil waltz" 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3 etc... part in the chorus.
And that somber, melancholic tapping on The Gift of Guilt.... hits you right in the feels...
Gojira is just next level stuff. One of those bands where every time you listen it's like the first time.

Gojira has always been very involved in writing songs about problems with society/the world we live in, especially dealing with the need to protect the environment more.
The last line of _Toxic Garbage Island_ says it all with so few words.

On the vocal note for where dragons dwell joe duplantier is I’m pretty sure the sole vocalist but his approach is unique and distinct coz he does actually channel abit of pitch into his harsh vocals he actually touches on it in an interview but I can’t remember who with
“Djent” is an onomatopoeia of palm-mutes from distorted guitars primarily used in metal. It was popularized by Meshuggah, especially after their Obzen album was released. They used 8-string guitars for the material of that album, and retroactively on their re-recorded version of Nothing. Meshuggah’s guitar tone and playing style kicked off what was called the “djent” movement. That tone and style has been lovingly (and at times annoyingly) been used in most modern metal for the past ten years… at least. Gojira is definitely not djent, but there are elements of djent in their riffs. Gojira likes to nod their heads in Meshuggah’s direction without actually copying.

toxic garbage island is the song that every time makes me fail the try not to headbang challenge and at the end of the song i always find myself screaming "plastic bag in the sea" as well.
That riff from Another World definitely has some Pink Floyd's "On the Run" vibes. Gets you in a deep trance. Love this french aquatic monsters.

Gift of guilt (live version) was my introduction to Gojira and it’s still one of my favorite songs by them. So unique to me at the time
The Way of All Flesh's mix is really something else...It's like From Mars to Sirius, but much more fresh imo.

Gojira is just one of the best. Had to pleasure of first seeing them live on a local free to enter festival on a tiny stage and now have seen them on several big stages. They deserve all the success they get and I love seeing them getting bigger and bigger. Incredibly nice people as well!
Gojira are great because they aren't about image, they are literally a handful of laid back french dudes paying metal for the love of metal. They are the epitome of great and simple song writing done right. What more is there to say?
Well, that and their environmentalist agenda, which imo adds so much power behind the music that's already crushing on its own.
Now i might be biased, but im pretty convinced Gojiras the best metal band out right now and I'm not sure what could change my opinion lol

It's just one singer Geebz..Joe Duplantier has a wide variety of tones and harsh vocals he uses but he always inserts melody where you'd usually not expect it..top notch 🤘✌️

The Gift of Guilt is one of my favorite tracks by them, even though I rarely choose to listen to _L'Enfant Sauvage_ first.

Only just got round to watching this, so glad you done a long form on Gojira and mentioned Pink Floyd during it cos they - to me anyway - are metal's very own version of Pink Floyd. The musicianship, their craftsmanship and ability to create sonic landscapes is just beyond incredible and they are vastly underappreciated these days. Damn fine video again sir!

Love to see you covering Gojira. They've been one of my favorite bands since I first heard their L'Enfant Sauvage album. I never realized Where Dragons Dwell had so much reverb till you pointed it out but now it seems so in my face. Keep being awesome Geebz, great picks for this one, love your content!

I would love to see more of this for the heavier bands that get sent your way so you get a chance to really explore the palette of sounds they work with. Also don't worry about the "on the fly" moments, they maintain authenticity - continuous shots feel like you're in the room with me giving me insight like an instructor would. Still here, allriggggght! Love the Gojira guys and love your long format videos so that's a killer combo. Toxic Garbage Island is one of my favorites. I always like how you pick up the bass in songs. I started playing bass guitar for a year now (after playing guitar for almost 15 years) and it's opening up a whole new world for me as I listen to music with 'new' ears. Your videos are always an inspiration. Never stop what you're doing! You're my favourite reaction channel out of all of them.

If you want to do more Gojira give the first two albums a try, Terra Incognita and The Link are amazing just like the others and I feel like they are a bit underrated/forgotten. From Terra Incognita my personal three favourites are Clone, Love and Satan Is A Lawyer, and from The Link all are very unique and awesome (people will recommend Remembrance, and thats fair, this track is insane) :D

If i might suggest an artist i think you haven't done yet: Electric Wizard, anything from their Dopethrone album would be super interesting from a composer POV.
This long form sort of content could honestly work really well as like short little live streams , would also give the audience a more direct way of interacting with you (something to consider).
A good variety from there catalogue!
I would absolutely love for someone to sift through these videos and compose a song with all of the sound effects Geebz uses :) - Love your work man, it's fun watch people who are genuinely interested, and enjoying themselves.

They switched the studio between twoaf and l'enfant sauvage if I remember correctly. It is one reason, I prefer the older stuff. 😁

Although I agree the live version from HELLFEST of this first song is by far the best version of the song out there... GEEBZ WELCOME TO THE WORLDWIDE GOJIRA COLLECTIVE sit back and marvel at the artistry and execution in which they perform their songs...I've seen them 6 times and they put on the Best show I've ever seen...Seeing Mario Duplantier live is like watching an alien play the drums...As a drummer of 40 yrs I'm blown away by Mario's creativity and overall chops...He definitely has some Jazz training in his past lol...
