    Just a tip for anyone putting the ridge caps on themselves. Pay attention to the wind direction in your area. If the wind blows from east to west for example, start the ridge cap so the exposed or open overlapping area is on the west, that way the wind doesn't have a chance to get under the shingle.

    Thanks for this tutorial. I was able to repair my shed roof using the same technique.

    Why didn't you show how you put in the last piece? Is that not the most important piece you have to lay down

    Nice install. Do they not sell a sort of mail machine/ mail gun, that would help with installing the nails?

    Ridge cap are thicker than regular shingles and they come pre bent to easily fit along the ridge. Of course you can always double up to make them look as thick

      Wouldn't doubling up on the shingles be hard to work with?

    What about the holes where the old nails came out of? Do you just leave them open to the eliminates allowing water to enter the home. Not a good idea.

    How come you dont have the end flush that will catch the wind and rip up

  • @markuslevy8623
    @markuslevy8623 5 місяців тому

    Why wouldn't you use a few dabs of asphalt plastic cement to hold down the end cap?

  • @maximumcorruption

    You're not supposed to use architectural shingles as roof ridge caps. Get the matching shingle in a 3 tab. Cleaner look and will not blow off. Also don't forget to use starter on both ends so the first and last one sticks! I almost made the same mistake.

    • @J_Bwn
      @J_Bwn Рік тому

      That would be nice. If only most of the roofers knew that.

    • @staresce

      What about using the shingles specifically created to be used as a roof cap ,aren't they supposed to be stronger than a regular 3 tab roof shingle?

    • @maximumcorruption
      @maximumcorruption 7 місяців тому

      If you can find them, which were not available to me, plus they cost more, and 3 tabs work perfectly.@@staresce
