- Today we are continuing with the updates from the 2022 SEMA Show, and that includes a new supercharged and turbocharged lineup of engines from the Dodge brand. These will be added to the Direct Connection catalog and sold as a crate engine, and they also gives us some hints for the future. Those new engines include the Hellephant and HurriCrate series, as well as racing engines (354 Drag Pak Hemi & 1500 HEMI).

the cat designation is a reference to the strength rating used for hurricanes Category 1-5 with 5 being the strongest
Was coming on here to say the same thing
Hi Marspeed! Is Dodge still planning on making the 7th special edition?
It got postponed from being unveiled at SEMA, but it is still going to be revealed at some point either later this year, or early next year. Apparently, the engine kept blowing up when going through durability testing, but that they have it figured out now
That 550hp I6 just might be the modern day 2jz
The engine can handle 1100 hp without mods
Just a tune
The *”HELLEPHANT”* ?!??! 😱😱😱😱😱
😊👍Awesome video content Marspeed.😊👍 I wish Mopar could offer a pentatstar crate wish is 3.6L pentatstar v6 engine.
I’m curious on how much the Hurricrate will cost. I wouldn’t mind placing this in my Durango GT Plus.
I'm sad to see the big V8s going away but anyone who is disappointed about the inline 6 dodge has created is just caught up in their feelings, I'm positive it can touch 1000hp without touching the internals
@Anon Ymous you say irrelevant I think you mean subjective. Please keep your comments to yourself if you have nothing of value to add
Imagine the Hurricrate Cat 3 swapped into an AWD Charger (if it would fit).....
The success of Direct Connect should be an indication to Dodge of what people really want. And it's NOT a so called eMuscle car. If only they had taken the technology put into the Hurricane straight 6 and applied to a brand new V8 Hemi. It would be one hell of an engine!
It would also be the physical size of the Chrysler multibank!
I thought Dodge was ending the Chargers and Challengers?
They are. Next year is the last year.
Hey babe, marspeed uploaded!
Wow I just love these new engines and I can't wait to hear And see what they're gonna sound and perform like.
Many thanks for sharing and putting this content together for us.
Does the 'EuroCrate6' share the same bellhousing as the Hemi, or will there be the added cost of sourcing another transmission to retrofit this motor into, let's say, an '85 Ramcharger?
Did I see that right? 2500 and 3500 rpm. That’s wild. That’s quick torque. You hit the gas and your hitting 550 Hp? Awesome.
That engine can handle 1000 hp easy
Wish they had a naturally Aspirated 426.
Call me insane, but I want to put that V6 Hurricrate engine into a 2008 AWD Dodge Avenger. You think it can be done or is it too big?
Sounds fast. But a cheap ass car ew
I don't think the AWD system in that car can handle that much torque, I'm not sure you have to research it.
There was a time I wanted to upgrade my AWD Charger to make her as fast as she can be, but then I found out the AWD system can only take a maximum of 400 lb ft. of torque which was kind of a turn off. So why bother at this point?
Is the 426 hemi street legal
Cat means category like hurricane category 1, 2, 3, etc 👍🏿
Nobody gives you V8 options like this. Everyone hides from Mopars with engines like this.
Can’t wait to get the 6 cylinder crate engine.
NOT!!! 😂😂
Nice engines but ridulous over-pricing.
I'd way rather less hp with a v8 than whatever a six banger can produce. They will never be cool, not matter the output.
Im just going To Save Up Some Money And Buy me The Hepllephantc30 and but it in a jeep grand and call it a day since they dont make trackhawks no more
Buy a redeye and in 10 days you can have a 7 sec car💀
5:06 The reason they're called "Cat" engines is because it's short for Category. Hurricanes are defined by Categories. Like how Hurricane Katrina was a Category 5 Hurricane. It doesn't stand for something like Hellcat.
I just need to put one of these into the Ram 1500 and straight pipe it and I'll be trolling the cops all day 😂
Where can I get information. On a Crate dodge heilphant V6 engine.?.😢
What about the truck line are they building anything for them . And I don't mean racing engines I mean truck engines.
It's sad that it can't be naturally aspirated. The 6.4 is still the best outta the box. Guessing Dodge really does want to go bankrupt.
I have the grand wagoner with I6 is an incredible sleeper😂 silent but quick
looks like they are going to be great engines.
And this is why I love Dodge!!
What the deuce is this, and why are they still making V8 engines
Swapping pentastars for hurricanes is a no brainer
Are the hellephant engines road legal
These engines are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
And thanks for sharing these videos with us!!
Victoria Floyd
Why not just make small displacement v8’s and then supercharge them or turbocharge them?
Instead of 6 cylinder engines
It’s 60k 😂😂😂
Will it be possible to swap a 3.6 pentastar for a Hurricrate?
So are the hellephant engine here to stay like the hellcat crate engines or another limited run first come first serve kinda deal
The Hurricane is just as big as the Hellephant’s blower.
So which is better the aluminum or cast iron block ?
Cat probably for category like a hurricane
Dodge is dead.
Stop acting like a angry feminist.
@@manuelsmiley7125 LOL yeah ok bruh
@@manuelsmiley7125 What are you talking about? He isn't wrong.
@@rickitysplitz7035 he's dead wrong
What a fem boy
Thanks brother for another great video. I am excited about those heavy hitters and seeing what they will end up in. It is crazy to think that they are double what a HC produces and delivered to your door.
I would like to see what the factory could do with a 6.4. I get that it wound require a complete redo but a drop in/plug and run replacement for my 17 SRT 6spd would be nice. 625-650 hp N.A would be a fun time. It would save all of us from the complete rebuild we are doing now. That and probably cost less. But even if it didn't, being able to do a swap in a weekend is pretty appealing.
Thanks again brother for the video.
Stay strong brothers.
I love how Marspeed releases a cool new video just as I finished up working on my Spirit RT for the day. Great stuff bro!
Cool! Marspeed shows up as I'm taking a break from working on my 91 Spirit RT. Lots of good news here, brother!
1500 hp is like 1300 whp at best. That 3.0 wont make anymore than that.
