Mopar/Viper guy here. Awesome video as usual, I thought the Viper did really well against the Audi considering all the advantages it had. Back in the day, there were a few guys in the Viper scene that achieved 600-650++ whp naturally aspirated so it's certainly possible with the right setup and tune. A personal friend of mine drag raced a '99 RT-10 for a number of years that actually had the engine built by Lingenfelter after leaving Hennessey. It was a super high compression (14.5:1) 545CID that put out somewhere around 850-900 HP and ran a best 1/4 time of 9.43@150+. Pretty cool what the Gen2 engines are still capable of!

Dude, good driving. To handle a Viper with no traction control has got to be one of the hardest cars to launch. That low end torque is *unusual* and is a fucking beast to manage. Well done man. Even Carroll Shelby had good things to say about the Viper. Baddassest cars for sure
6:13 Minor mistake made here, but it's a very simple thing to mend that helps a lot when doing future oil changes. ALWAYS lubricate the oil filter gasket with some new oil, if you don't then the gasket will basically fuze to the mating surface. A lubed gasket will still seal fine if properly tightened, while still allowing for some movement whenever you go to remove the old filter. A dry gasket will remain still, as you struggle to untighten the filter with the gasket not moving at all. (Source: 4+ years of experience changing oil on cars for work)
I should also add, while this is probably a trivial thing to most people it is a very simple step to take to save yourself from future struggle when doing regular maintenance on your car. Ask any old gear-head if you should lube the oil filter gasket, they will all give you the same answer (unless they are incompetent)

@@Four_Eyes Sounds like they're gonna send you something, but since I saw this: torque wrenches are for tightening, not loosening. For loosening, an impact wrench (or, on the cheap or in tight spaces, a breaker bar) is the right tool for the job. I suspect Torque Test Channel will recommend a Milwaukee Fuel 1/2" drive impact wrench. Using a torque wrench as a breaker bar risks compromising its accuracy for the job it's meant for.
@Four_Eyes agreed. It's probably fine what you have to tightening to a spec. But pull of a trigger to remove something like that saves a lot of fuss. Shoot us an address torquetestchannel@gmail.com

When I was in auto tech school, they had a prototype V10 from Dodge. Yes, that V10. It was one of the engine from the prototyping phase of the Viper V10. It had a cast iron block & aluminum heads, IIRC. It was an entire engine from intake to oil pan. During our "engine - machanical" phase, the instructor said if I could take it all apart and get it back together using the proper torque specs & checking clearances of everything and it turns over easily, I'd get an A for that part of the class. Using the standard V10 specs for a cast iron block and the specs for assembling the aluminum heads from a viper, it all went together fine. No issues and no parts left over lol. I even got extra points when I put the GM 2.5L Iron Duke back together that some young guys took apart and never finished assembling. Tbh, I don't think they ever really started lol. That was a fun time. I'm the only person that was allowed out in the shop unsupervised. I was also 10 yrs older than everyone else and had that much more experience & knowledge. I was only there for technical reasons. I knew more than enough to work as a tech but no one would hire me because I didn't have any professional training. So I went there and got a technical diploma. I learned a few things but I knew a majority of the stuff they taught. So I was going for the paper saying Ive had real training by a recognized school & organization.

What an absolutely fantasticly edited video showing only what matters in swapping cams. WELL DONE SIR.. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
sounds great, big respect keeping that monster on the road without any TC, stay safe.
Dude that exhaust note at 8:13 from the overlap is just DOPE
Such an underrated channel this is as good as it gets, so informative too! I feel it was selfish to let this masterpiece go unseen, so I will have no choice but to send to everyone I know, gramma better watch this
One of the best automotive vlog channels, especially with an OG car like the Viper!
I can't wait to see the next video in 2025. This is a sleeper of a channel
Dude, what a wonderful video. You are the one who deserves to have the car you have because it is like a talented guitarist tuning his guitar perfectly. Take good care of that Viper.
Mad respect on the ride man. Sounds great, looks great, is great. Viper was the car that got me into cars.
Dude this is a masterpiece. 100/10 editing, voiceover and filming. Absolutely beautiful channel. I'm pretty sure I tried to like this video 20 times
Makes me happy knowing the exhaust video was from 2 years ago because it means this man is just one of us. Saving money to be able to afford these parts like everyone else and not just get sponsor money. Great video and an amazing build keep it man
It’s always a good day when a Four Eyes video drops 💯
I liked before even starting the vid, I already know it's gonna be good.
That Viper is so gorgeous! Its clean, sounds unbelievable, well kept and is a missle. Big props man, beyond jealous!
I just re-watched one of your videos earlier today and was wondering when you were going to drop a new video. The absolute timing 🤣🤣🤣
I clicked on this vid so fast, 11/10 quality
This video was top tier man. I actually learned a lot and enjoyed watching this from start to finish. Packed all that hard work into a 16 minute video, respect. Great commentator too. Thank you.
Best explanation of complex engine topics, best video quality in terms of editing! Thank you!
My two very favourite v10s in a single video. lucky day.
Now this is a grown-man video...! No pointless jokes and all realll assss Information that's hella realistic with facts!! This video style is a 10/10 for me homie!
8:02 had a scare there for a moment
The handicap was so he knew you weren't going to spinout into him. Smart friend.
Great video. The editing and pace are really good with no boring bits. That Viper is a locomotive. Look at the power and torque graphs and see all the area beneath the curves. That's high-bandwidth performance. Also, it's 100 percent duty cycle performance on pump 91.
I'm in!!! first time watcher, and this is what I'm here for.. thanks for posting a on topic, factual and non nonscense video on the in's and out's of engine tuning. this is the way! thanks!
And he’s back!
The R8 short shift 14:20 hurt me
Yeah, that's the sound of the death of manual transmissions right there.
dude this is one of the better car channels ive came across on youtube!
Keep killing it man
I WAITED THREE F*CKING YEARS FOR THIS! LET'S GOOOOO!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
This production is a masterpiece, watched entirely
Really cool breakdown. I didn't NEED the tutorials about valve and ignition timing, but the graphic visualizations were superbly done and it's always fun to watch those.
I can’t believe how easy the top end came apart, love the simplicity of a push rod motor
well when you take a several hour job and shrink it down to under 20 mins it will look very easy
It’s got quick release valve covers
Who ever put 2 30second unskippable ads here 8:05 , I hope both sides of your pillow is warm on both sides every time you sleep.
How did this video just have every aspect needed to be so informative and enjoyable
2 V10s on a desert road? thats a 20 gun salute right there
1:40 funny one there, lol
Uncontrollably grinned after first start and hearing that chop 🔥
13:35 AS IT WAS WRITTEN
Congratulations to @Four_Eyes for reaching 300 k subscribers! !
thank you man
@@Four_Eyes 👍
He’s done it again🎉 from basic bro mods on a 3V to an R8 killing viper! Truly impressive! Always a joy when you upload🤙
first I was like R8 killing? then I remembered this R8 ain't stock, so yeah even more impressive!
8:15 I wish you could have seen my reaction bud. My eye brows raised and I experienced an eargasm. And then I couldn’t find the like button fast enough.
You had me at “interested in dumb shit”
1" drive torque wrench to bust a crank bolt free. My guy, let us send you a proper impact wrench
what torque wrench do you recommend in general? balance of accuracy and longevity?
@@Four_Eyes you got a torque wrench covered. Let us send you an impact wrench for easy removal email in channel page
i've never seen your content, but HFS, you didn't lose me for one ADD second with the outstanding pacing and editing! Love the speedrun details of tear down/reassemble. familiar with every piece of the process, but don't need the minutiae to be entertained. well done!
The second start at 8:07 was comical
7:29 *Tool intensifies
That swing pushing analogy is pretty clever. Fantastic visuals throughout, it’s clear why each video takes 6 years to make!
3:36 perky yeet
I can see why people some prefer automatics, because taking your hand off the wheel at that speed looks terrifying 14:33
well ya see when you gain a tiny bit of muscle mass in your arms and learn not to yeet the steering wheel into oblivion overcorrecting going over an uneven patch of road its quite easy.
I just moved to Reno and I have a lift. I'm UA-cam taught and your videos are inspiring.

Best signal provider in the market.
Knowledgeable, level headed (no loss like some other traders who recently jumped on the bandwagon).
The very first time we tried, we invested $3000 and after a week, we received
8500. That really helped us a: lot to pay up our bills.
I wonder what dumbass makes these bots and think they are geniuses
spam rubbish
You’re my new favorite UA-camr, the detail is incredible!
1:49 Can you say Bachelor pad! 😄😄😄 theres no woman living in that house. Very evident here.
you do a fantastic job of explaining each step taken throughout the process without wasting time.
Hey mate! Absolute banger of a vid, exactly what I want in terms of presentation & format -
You don't have a bunch of bolt on boys hyping up a part install and explaining the engineering/application from the back of the box 😂.
You know your stuff, are open to learning, put in a great mix of detail - plus you own a viper & it sounds dope. ❤ Subscribed & coming back for the next one
