6.2L Supercharged Hemi V8 Engine - (HELLCAT VS. REDEYE VS. Demon) - What’s the Difference?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 чер 2024
- Today is another comparison, looking at the 6.2L supercharged Hemi V8 engine found in the Hellcat, and the 6.2L High Output version of that found under the hood of the upgraded Hellcat Redeye, Super Stock, and Demon. We’ll go back and forth for each engine, starting with an overview, then look at the differences of various aspects of each engine, like power output, block, rotating assembly, cylinder heads, supercharger, gas consumption, and more. We’ll also evaluate if it’s really worth it to spend the extra money on the Redeye engine versus the regular Hellcat. Also one important point, the Redeye, Demon, and Super Stock all share the same 6.2L High Output version, so while we are focusing on the Redeye, many of the same specs will apply to the other two vehicles. Watch along for all the details!

Definitely worth the money from an engineering perspective, and resale value. Bragging rights don't hurt either. 👍
Considering the price that companies like BMW and Mercedes charges for a basic long block of a standard 4 cylinder non performance variant engine, the Hellcrate engine seem insanely well priced.
This is an awesome video. But for anyone who hasn't driven one of these vehicles, you HAVE TO to understand how good they are. I own a TRX and every time I drive it think "What a stupid amazing truck this is". The fact that Stellantis has the balls to make vehicles like these is amazing. But get them while you can.... I don't suspect they'll be around much longer.
Still surprised that Chrysler/Stellantis haven’t hired you as a spokesman 👍🏾💯🍻
Very thorough video. Great job!
Excellent video and content. This makes the differences and similarities easily understood! Great work and very useful.
Excellent video and information! Thank you
great video. good breakdown. thanks so much
Great video 👍
Excellent job and breakdown. Everything from the cam to the intake valves. I do wonder if there is a piston difference. The 5.7 Hemi obviously uses a different piston.
thx for the info mars i learned some new things today 😎👌
Nice. Good explanations.
The safety features extra cooling and oiling in the redeye compared too regular hellcat engine is insane and amazing
Fantastic video! Salute....
Fantastic video, great content 👏
Thanks I appreciate it 😀
The engineering for the Hemi engines specifically 6.2 and 6.4 V8’s are very cool. Even with the new 2.0, 3.0, SRT10, and motors from the Italian brands are very fascinating to learn.
I thought the hellcat was a super charged 6.4
@@mpoveroni supercharged 6.2. i can’t remember but it has either the block from the 6.4 and heads from the 5.7, or vide versa
@@sirhamalot110 if you remember you should come back to the comment section, I’d love to turn my 5.7 into a 6.2 if possible instead of buying a hellcat engine/ trans and swap
Can you do a breakdown of the 426 vs 440 next?
@13:17 Wow! Here in Los Angeles ca as of 05/17/22 gas prices is over $6 a gal for 91 octane premium
Yup my Daytona is tuned for 94 octane and the equivalent here in Canada is $9.05 per gallon CAD 😎😩. Damn tank cost me $156 yesterday
Amazingly the Hellcat is even worse, imagine that tank gone in 11 mins hahaha
Awesome video! Glad I was able to tick the likes from 999 to 1k! This needs to get out to more gear heads.
Thanks man appreciate it!
Wait, so the hellcat has a more aggressive cam than than the Higher output? Does this mean that you can swap a hellcat cam into a Redeye/demon/SS and make more power? 🧐
Great video very informative !!! I leaned a lot hopefully I will be able to order a new challenger soon now I might go for a Hellcat Widebody now that I know there is not much of a difference unless you track the cars and I don't
Yeah doesn’t seem like too many huge differences but it definitely is better in many ways!
very impressive I loved it
Lots of information here, thanx for doing the research! I have read elsewhere that the Hellcat cam specs for duration (Intake/Exhaust) are 215/221 @.050". 278/304 seems fairly radical. The Redeye was 224/240 @.050". Thoughts?
ty for your great info
Thanks for watching! :)
so just to be clear 2019 and up base hellcats charger and challenger come with 717 and 656 ?
Gotta say my favorite is the jailbreak. Craziest options!
When you gonna make a dodge demon documentary, your research is outstanding
Any idea if the Demon crate ECU works on the RE/SS/JB cars? Im thinking that the gauge cluster would need to be swapped out for a Demon one, this to keep things using stock parts. Of course, the stage kits (whenever they come out) would be a better route to take for cars like a Super Stock
would love if you made a vid on the limited run Hellephant crate engine
So which is the best engine to grab ? I need to know what year should I buy ?
So these cars , or any hellcat, they dont have msds, meaning you dont have to worry about the lifters hemi tick?
Can you do a comparison of the 6.1 vs the 6.4 ?
Can we please have a comparison Video about the 6.1 vs 6.2?
Wish I could get one !
You and me both!
Hi can you tell me what size the piston pin on a 2016 6.2 hellcat thanks
Need a vid for the 170 now
Thank you sir
Do a Car review on the drag pack
Bro the air intake on the hellcat challenger is the same as the one on the redeye....
Anyone know where I can find the Heavendog vs Blue Ear vs Angel video?
You tube keeps bringing me to this for some reason?
Sooooo can I get this in my 08 charger?👀
Charger SRT Jailbreak is my dream car. My savings are almost at 20k. A lot of that is going to be used to pay my down payment. Gonna need to put a huge sum down in order for my life with the car to be easy.
Can I have a thousand I’m trying to get an rt sometime this week lol jk. Goodluck on buying your dream car man! You’ll have it in no time
You should Talk about the hellephant and builds
Also MOPAR baby
how many red eye Challenger om 2021 ?
Thank you!!•°
@17:02 the tank drain time is reversed.
Do both of them have the bigger bore and stroke?
Same bore and stroke for both yeah
@@MarspeedCars after the 2023 model year when hellcats bite the dust. Would they still sell the hellcrate?
doess regular widebody hellcat have hp90
just bought 21 widebody redeye tonight. f8 green
Congrats man so exciting!!
how rare is in F8. I work foe Dodge and can not find any numbers
But the real question is if you put eight grand extra into a hellcat how much more powers are going to make than the redeye?
Redeye hellcat challenger all day💯 Their is no Redeye Hellcat Challenger like mine in L.A.county, Orange county, or San Diego County. 💯
Have a 2019 Redeye W/b Challenger get 26MPG driving 70-80 MPH HWY also have a 2019 Charger with 3.0 liter v-6 same route gets 30MPG
Can u make a vid on Plymouth entirely?
Yeah I need to do something on Plymouth again soon!
@@MarspeedCars thanks bro
It's funny that a company boasting about more power was focused more on the supercharged engines rather than the 5.7 or 6.4 to rebuild em, or replace em with a better, lighter, bigger sized engine - especially the 5.7
You can only do so much to a engine before you need use power adders or have a major redesign in that engine. Which is gonna raise the cost to the end user. If a customer really needs that much more power you can modify. Which gives people flexabilty with out having to increase the cost to everyone. Plus over the years the 6.4 has had changes to bump the horsepower from 470 to 485 over the years with updats as well
@@kingtyty5 uea but to the max. That's why they had to purposely detune the 5.7 helicopter to give it the proper power spacing to justify the price of the 6.4. Dodge couldve made a NA high compression aluminum 7L hemi from the hellephant to replace the 6.4. Because that engine along with the 5.7L is the cash cow for dodge
Forged steel pistons? I think you meant forged aluminum. The engines running forged steel pistons are performance diesels.
What about the jailbreak
Redeye vs the jailbreak
i hope a story of the engine power the dodge viper the v10 8.0 to 8.4lts and why never return??
I love the sound of the supercharger on these engines. Gives me a boner when i drive one😅
👍👍👍
Forgot the hell cat wrangler lol
Another awsome Mopar video! 👍
This might sound a little silly but I kinda wish Chrysler would've put MDS on the hellcats and redeyes, it still would've helped with fuel economy and fines from the EPA.
"Grumman" is pronounced "Gruh-muhn," instead of "Groo-muhn."
I mean Redeye is alot more reliable so yea Redeye... I have a hellcat so yeaa still love it but
Hate to say it but why the red eye feels slow?
Forged STEEL pistons? You better go back to school son
For the extra money of the redeye you can put into the aftermarket for the hellcat .. it’s not worth it when you can get a GT500 for the same money and it’s considerably faster and overall better handling.. only reason to buy a challenger red eye is for the love of the car at this point but if you want a better car the charger is more car ..
gt500 new is 115+
Overpriced, too heavy.
Why so much money for a mexican made engine & car.
Wrong only the Redeye ans Super stock has the front inlet hole not the hellcat
Do you just make things up and then post it? 🤣 every comment you make is BS. The front inlet hole was created with the first gen hellcat and has always been on the regular hellcat. The redeye and superstock have 2. The hellcat has 1 the other is fake 🤯 do your research
