Most people think that Noddy Holder is just a singer who bellows but this shows a much different side to Slade. No matter how many times I hear this song, it always sounds fresh to me
Love Slade Took me back to my early teens!! They were a great rock band. They had it all, brilliant songwriting, great musicians and Noddys' amazing voice.....they set me up for rock n roll for the rest of my life🤘🎸👍

I first heard this song about 50 years ago,I was already a big fan of there's but this was definitely one of the best songs ever, the album was really magic, I also was lucky to see the original band a few times live ,brilliant.
They rose to prominence during the glam rock era in the early 1970s, achieving 17 consecutive top 20 hits and six number ones on the UK Singles Chart. Slade are an English rock band formed in Wolverhampton in 1966. "Coz I Luv You" . Peace out.
I love this one. I think it's the closest Slade got to a Beatles style production and it showcases the band really well, particularly Jim's piano and Don's drums.
I saw them in London in about 1980, they were great. Jim Lee the bassist was a multi instrumentalist. He played the violin on laying on his back during the gig. At the time SLADE had charred again with a more metal sound. U2 were the support act. The track you reviewed was probably their pinnacle. They had a great album just before this Old New Borrowed and Blue. Some of their music sounds dated now, but how does it feel is a masterpiece. Jim Lee also appeared playing bass for Status Quo on a UK chart show called Top of the Pops. I think there was some issue going on in quo and Jim stood in. I think Dave Hill still runs with a version of the band. Noddy is a national treasure.
Sometimes overlooked as a semi-comedic glam rock band, but they were solid rockers. Noddy had one of the best male voices of the 70's/80's. They could write and play. People always said that Oasis sounded like the Beatles, the first time I heard them I thought the sounded like Slade (maybe not as good though).
Most folks remember Slade for the big Glam stompers, but there's a really interesting, melancholy, reflective flipside to them. Noel Gallagher calls this one of the finest songs ever written, and I don't think he's far wrong.
@@SPKdesign1 many people say the Noel Gallagher guitar sound, is stolen from Slade. Including Alan McGee. Noel has said, no Slade would have meant no Oasis. And they covered, Cum On Feel The Noize. When I hear Oasis guitars, I think Slade and Trex
In mid 70s, their songs became more meaningful. They had been through the teeny-bopper years and wanted to show they were not all that. My Friend Stan was another hit, and it was so human and understanding in a thoughtful way.
Very under rated song as it's not like their most well known hits of the glam rock era. Slade, a true British working class band that cut their teeth the length and breath of the country before even getting a sniff of a contract in the music business, great band great song
Slade in Flame was the first album I bought back in the 70s - and still one of my faves today. Other great songs from the album are Summersong (Wishing You Were Here), OK Yesterday Was Yesterday, This Girl (what a voice Noddy put in that number), Heaven Knows, and more. A brilliant album
Great that you’ve reacted to this…a gentler song from the powerhouse that is Noddy Holder. As been mentioned Noel Gallagher described it as perfect. Ozzy Osbourne states Noddy has one of the best voices in rock and Noel Gallagher and Dee Synder both say that without Slade there’d be no Oasis or Twisted Sister. Also Kiss are one of many who site them as being a huge influence It was also played regularly by bbc radio2’s Ken Bruce who loves it…before he moved to greatest hits radio
@@Sandy-dd4le It's been that long since I saw it I can't remember the rest of the band being in it. Noddy did a lot of TV rolls over the years as well though.
@Hanier Family Neil Murray played the greatest baseline ever in Whitesnake's original Fool for your lovin. You really have to listen on headphones to really get it.

@tecdessus I completely agree. A fine song writing duo. Even now, both men make over a million pounds a year in royalties
A glorious record from Slade who were a constant companion to us growing up in the 70's. Just the mention of their name brings back so many memories.
Beautiful and poignant, really showcases Noddy's wonderful voice. 😎
Still have the vinyl copy of the album bought for me for christmas '74 by my Nana.
She worked the record counter in Woolworths, cheers Hilda.
I remember the Woolys Record Counter. Every once in a while you'd spot something worth having in the bargain bin going cheap.
Love Slade

What a band I saw them live in 1972 in Ireland what a live act
It was criminasl that this only made No 15 in the UK, as this gem deserved so much more.

They do a fantastic version of "Darling Be Home Soon" the John Sebastien track on "Alive".

This song has never grown old.
Slade’s finest

Slade with flute no less. Brilliant and shows their versatility
A great track.

Slade Rock!
They did a great cover of the Beatles "Martha my dear"
Yes. We compared the two. Unfortunately, the Beatles version was blocked. We had to mute the Beatles so we could release the video.

I think Jim Lea, normally co-credited, is the creator of this. I think Slade are underrated nowadays but Noddy is one of my favourite vocalists ever.
“Remember Slade” (Gene Simmons)
Their best song.
how does it feel!
Fantastic, thanks for asking!
This song is epic.
Baffling that Warner Bros released Flame in America with How Does it Feel and Far Far Away 2 amazing songs which weren't singles as far as I am aware
