A great meaningful pop song from a (50million disk selling) UK 'Glam Rock' band, who also knew how to rock hard. Great song writing here from band member Jim Lea, who wrote this before he was 20! A real late Beatles like production to nail this heartfelt sound.
1974...the band had been together for about 8-9 years...they had a reputation for played very LOUD and by this album the singer had taken singing lessons to control his breathing...and it really paid of on this album(Slade In Flame) the soundtrack to the only movie they made...a great album...this song is where the bass player Jimmy Lea really shines as music writer/piano/bass...and probably some of the guitar work as well...he joined at 16...the others were 18...and they gave him a hard time...until he started writing the music...7 consecutive UK top 5 hits from 71 - 74...second only to the Beatles...
Still the only band in Britan (as far I know) with 3 singles STRAIGHT to no. one in the same year. Beatles had more straight to no. one - but not in the same year.
Takes me back, possibly my favourite of theirs because the chord changes are fabulous, I love it especially when we get to the "Do you know" part, just love that.
Ahhhh Slade. Great track. They have so Many songs to pick through. Huge in the UK and Europe in the 70's but hardly made a dent in the US charts. Early 80's they cracked the charts finally with My Oh My and Run Runaway. Quiet Riot covered Cum On Feel The Noise and Mama Were All Crazy Now and had hits with them in the early 80's.
SLADE = Listen to their 40 b-sides some proper gems in that lot, you will not be disappointed. You can get hold of this double cd and booklet from Salvo. Enjoy
I love this song. Amazing to think how huge this band was in the U.K. in the 70s, but could never break the U.S. market until Run Runaway (another classic you should listen to) hit big in the 80s.
Slade So underrated ,as they were commercial and had singles and Zeppelin didnt ,so were stupidly looked down on ,but were on par with Queen in the UK,I think you will like many of theirs
comedy band ..?? put down your beer and step outside !!! slade are a great rock n roll band with many different tunes and styles try every day then hear me calling ..comedy ..your the comedy !!! ha ha ha ha
This was from the film Slade In Flame which looked at the seedier side of the music business. Not a typical pop group film, this one has real grit and strong performances throughout. Well worth seeing if you get the chance.

'Everyday' is a standout track from these UK rock idols

run runaway is a great song.
flip side to this in feeling is "Know who you are" by Slade
More slade please👍
A stonker of a song from their hayday , early 70's . A bit quieter than their contemporary glam stuff . Shows another side of the band . A classic .
Glad you enjoyed it . That bass is Jimmy Lea. Awesome song, awesome band. Check them out dude
Slade...My childhood.
The brass section was a band called gonzalaz if my memory serves me right
Some best of British
check out slade,s cover, of darling be home soon, off the scale, best live band of the 70,s
Noel Gallagher says this is the best fucking song ever...
It may be Slade’s finest song yet didn’t even break the U.K. top 10 back in 1975.
this song is like a fine wine, it gets better, and better with age, vintage,
Their earlier stuff more ballsy loud! Mama weer all crazee! Gudbye to jane, move over, get down get with it etc, later stuff crap!
