  • This is a reaction video to Slade performing "Coz I Luv You". The song was Slade's first number 1 single on the UK singles chart in 1971. The song includes heavy bass guitar, wonderful violin playing for the instrumental break, great vocals and heavy boot stomping to give the song a deeper sound. On hearing the demo by Slade, Chas Chandler, Slade's producer, stated "I think you've witten your first hit record."

North American stations and audiences shit the bed on Slade, as they did with the Ramones. They deserved so much more respect.

Yet bloody Quiet Riot had 2 hits with Slade songs. A travesty and made me think less of US rock taste.

Slade were not just a glam rock band, they were much more than that. One of the most successful bands of all time.

In fact, they weren't glam rock at all here, although Dave Hill seems like he always was. But they really started as a glam rock band in mid-1972 and ended at the end of 1973.

Noddy Holder is the only singer in rock who sounds just the same as on the record, by far the best rock voice ever, and they were the best live band ever and the bloody loudest.

At the time only musician union members were allowed to play live on the BBC. As most groups were not members of the union they pre recorded the backing track the day before then sang live and mimed the instruments. Later on the singers mimed along as well. Then along came videos that saved all the hassle of reproducing the exact studio sound. Some bands made it blindingly obvious they were miming in protest to not being allowed to play live.

Ey up Todd. Wow you sure took up my recommendation pretty quick, thanks for that and for the mention. As usual, your comments about the track are very considered and appreciative of the music and the performance. After all the stuff you've introduced to me I'm happy to return the favour. Looking forward to your next reaction. Keep on truckin mate.

Hi Speed ... I did enjoy this song. The boot stomping always gets me going for a song. And the violin, awesome. This was a fun song and you could see the band was enjoying playing it. Thanks for the heads up on this one. Rock on ...

Took the yanks more than 10 years to catch up. Im 70. Never before or since have I ever been to concert where a band would pulverise the crowd into submission. They would smash eardrums 1st band to stand on their amps. The whole world knew slade except the Americans. THEIR LOSS.

Coz I Luv You is my fave Slade track (I love the violin) roundabout this time I was into Curved Air's Air Conditioning they pioneered the electric violin.
Slades Look Wot You Dun is also a great track, and has a "Driving" beat.
