You were definitely having FUN
You will love Shaking The Tree from same concert. Paula Cole - Where Have All The Cowboys Gone
Epic isn't it? &2 years old and remembering when it first come out! Top reaction.! Listen to "Sledge Hammer " You'll love it. Kudos to you !! And thank you for teaching !!!!😍🥰🤩
I love your joy!
Paula Cole’s voice is angelic. And coolest of all, in all of that crazy physically hard dancing & singing, she looks like she’s having a ball out there. I’ll bet it was a joy to be a performer on that tour.
Ditto!
And to think Cole replaced Sinéad O'Connor after she abruptly left the tour. Cole was only two or three shows into the tour when this video was shot in Italy.
@@jeffreymayes907 Gotta give Peter credit for launching Paula's career with this tour. She did an AMAZING job! "Don't Give Up" and "Please Talk to Me" are my favorites off this DVD.
His live call and response duet with Paula on his song Don't Give Up is also stunning, AND quite emotionally moving.
God you’re so right so good it’s sublime❤❤😢
Imagine - he's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame....TWICE. That's talent and staying power.
the moment when we all fall in love with you and the song... 12:40... (of course... already before, but in this moment!!!!)
Peter's album "So" is one of the best complete albums ever recorded at the time of its release.
💯
Absolutely…one of the best produced records ever too…
Absolutely concur 100%.
It is my favorite solo album by any artist.
After more than 35 years it still appeals to me. Peter Gabriel is a legend .
YOU NEED to listen Genesis. Love 🙏
This is one of the greatest live performances of any song I have ever heard.
the newer ones from peter are better... the older he gets the better gets his voice...
The whole artistic direction of this gig is amazing. Incredible musicians, but the whole is greatly enhanced by the theatricality of the whole thing.
Watching someone witness this for the first time is magical.
Lucky her🧡
Truly!
Indeed Peter Gabriel, Paula, band and this reaction are magical.... I cannot sit still with African vibes either, men i wanna dance. Great reaction by Rosalie😊 this is my jam too...like whiskey with crunchy peanut butter.
Peter was one of the original artists to promote "World Music", and he started the W.O.M.A.D Festival in 1980 and it's still going strong. That's all after an extremely successful career in Genesis.
As you may know after the first year of WOMAD, Gabriel was in such debt he was overwhelmed. Genesis did a fundraiser to pay it off, so they re-united this one time. Beautiful friends.
I truly believe Peter should get a lifetime achievement Nobel for multicultural appreciation and promotion.
Peter Gabriel and Paul Simon are the 2 main artists that I remember promoting world music at that time. I would love to see them work together.
WOW You Got IT
Thank you
I have watched it 23 million times
I love young people discovering a musician who has been nominated for 21 grammy awards and has sold tens of millions of records.
"Say Anything"(1989)
The young lady is Paula Cole, who replaced Sinead O'Connor for the European leg of the tour. She later had a successful solo career. You've likely heard some of her songs, including "I Don't Wanna Wait" and "Where Have all the Cowboys Gone?". She did a phenomenal job in this concert. If you think your job is tough, try taking Kate Bush's part in "Don't Give Up"...
In my humble onion... Paula was much better than Kate Bush along side Peter. This being true on "Don't give up" but beyond that her vocal accompaniment on the entire "Secret World" tour was more than epic.
@@lawrencesmallacombe5089 They are both great singers, but I would vote for Kate Bush. Wuthering Heights is one of my favorite songs.
@@lawrencesmallacombe5089 Paula Cole is a fantastic singer and did a great job, but Kate Bush owns that song - it's her voice that makes it so magical
I really prefer Paula's version from this show.
@@lawrencesmallacombe5089 YIKES ?
Amazing reaction. No matter how many times I watch this performance I get the moist eyes.....every time!
People of different ages, races cultures, all dancing, singing, laughing. Imagine if that's how the whole world was.
woW!1! look at your crazy REacTIon FaCe!!!!
You made my Tuesday morning, Rosalie. Hugs
To me this song is such a celebration of life!!!! Thanks so much for the reaction and the appreciation for this celebration!
Proper reaction! It's some moving stuff. Cheers!
This has been described as one of the most purely beautiful love songs ever written. That live performance just seems like a joyful celebration. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a reactor so transported by a song, and very justifiably so.
Agreed. It’s one of a kind. Thank you
Always cry when I watch this. Great reaction
Gabriel did his rehearsal for the tour in Rochester, NY. (The arena was not being used for the summer).
The band and crew stayed at the Hyatt, a few blocks away. Mr. Gabriel rode his bike around town, getting to know people, and eating locally.
When they were getting ready to do the final rehearsal, after about 2 weeks, he went to the hotel staff and distributed tickets. They wanted a fresh audience for the final rehearsal, he thanked the staff by playing this whole show to about 200 people.
Class. Act.
so beautiful... too beautiful! this reaction is...
Yeah Rosalie👁️ Peter Gabriel is the master of spirit and rhythmic if you pause Peter Gabriels songs you have to started from the beginning again ha ha ha ha and a big Warning don't play this music from Peter Gabriel in your car you chrash the car before the song is ended ❤️🇸🇪❤️🇺🇲❤️ And can you believe that this 2 gigants was in the same band GENESIS. Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel. Its almost like Mozart and Beethoven write songs together huuuuh ❤️ And you Rosalie as have music as your work..i wonder how many songs you get in head after hearing " in your eyes" 👍🏼👁️ THX Rosalie for a loverly reaction on Peter Gabriel "in your Eyes" sorry for my swenglish 👀🇸🇪❤️🇸🇪❤️
I hesitated watching based on the time but I'm glad I did, I cried again with you. The only way I can put this is , A sense of Humanity and Love. Thank you
Your dancing in the chair is what everyone felt the first time they heard this song. Thanks for sharing.
Strong emotions are the only appropriate response to experiencing that performance. Nearly the entire concert has the same atmosphere.
This is one to revisit whenever you need your spirits lifting.
Perhaps the most joyous song ever performed...
THe moment she caught Paula's part ... I have heard this a hundred times or more and I still do that face
The most perfect and beautiful piece of live music ever.
I can only repeat what so many have already written here... it is/you are a true joy
Love your reaction! /Best regards, New subscriber
What a joyous song. Always loved this one. Peter is passionate about world music and this song demonstrates it. His duet with Kate Bush on his song Don't Give Up is a MUST hear and see. He delivers a beautiful vocal on that one. Check it out when you can.
Kate Bush is another fantastic well to dive into. So much fascinating and beautiful music. I particularly like her 'Woman's Work' and 'Army Dreamers'. Powerful music and lyrics.
"So" is an amazing album!!
absolutely, him and Kate Bush. She's got to see that! Plus of course Solisbury Hill. 😊
❤️❤️❤️
I saw this live when he did this tour. I have the DVD of this show. While there are many artists and bands that I follow and listen to since this time in music history, the progressive era in the 70's is by far one of the most creative and original music ever! And to see many of the bands and artists of that era leaves what we see today lacking.
in the USA the 1st association with the song "In Your Eyes" will always be the movie "Say Anything" with John Cusack (late 80ies).
Peters voice is one of the most recognizable voices in the World !
Now listen to 'Don't give up' !
Peter Gabriel is awesome, this was a huge hit
You need to watch the whole Secret World concert. One of the most amazing musical experiences of which you'll ever be a part.
This is music from my day. Miss music that is so much fun. Have listened to Pete since the 80s. 😊 Used this tune in the collection for the seating of the guests at our wedding.
It is musicians like this that create such beautiful art and give so much when they perform that show how much of a crime it is to pay minimal amounts on Spotify and other streaming services
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. Also to Gerhard who recommended it to you!
When I heard your introduction, I felt ooooollldddd..... You hadn't heard of Peter Gabriel. I just couldn't believe it and I realized, once again, we're from different generations. Whereas Gerhard might be from mine....
Oh, this was so beautiful to hear and watch your reaction to it👏👍. I felt like I was back in 80's. This music, the whole album SO! actually, was simply iconic.
Please Rosalie, do yourself a big, big favour. On a quite evening lay down on a sofa, look up Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush "Don't give up" (another song from that album), put on your headphones and lose yourself in the beauty, the emotion and the message of that song that will touch your heart. You won't regret it...💛💛💛 but be sure to have a box of tissues at hand
OMG... a few weeks later and I still fall in love with you and your reaction... sooooooo beautiful!
In your eyes, the light, the heat
In your eyes, I am complete
In your eyes, I see the doorway to a thousand churches
In your eyes, the resolution of all the fruitless searches
Absolutely beautiful lyrics...
He is a national treasure.
Watch the whole concert and behold the artist named Peter Gabriel. It is on Prime.
You'd be blown away by this entire concert. It's amazing. Truly something to be experienced.
He's the best. No one else like him. And if that wasn't enough, his time with Genesis is some of the best music ever made.
The whole "Secret World Live" concert is 100% AMAZING. Love Peter Gabriel's variety and originality.
Great Peter Gabriel. I'm portuguese and I choose the name of my son in 2003 in an homage to this great musician and composer and singer. My son's name is Pedro Gabriel.
He will do interesting things. Good choice of name🧡
You are a BEAUTIFUL SOUL ... Bless You
Great performance! The band did ok too!!!
I must be too old. Peter Gabriel was huge. Great reaction and great choice of version of this song. Totally loved it!!!!! Thanks for sharing this one.
Feeling old now too. For people in my age it's almost impossible to not know Peter Gabriel.
You need to see the entire concert you won't be disappointed at all.
I’m an old jarhead and I can’t get through this song without the tears falling down my cheeks.
Your reaction fills my hearth with joy...
Thank you ❤❤❤
Great reaction..just like mine..I laugh and danced and cried....all at the same time... touched my heart
Her joyful expressions made me feel the same!
I'm in a flood of tears. Gets me every time. Music move the earths soul.
LOVED! LOVED! LOVED your reaction! That's exactly the way I felt! Nice job!
When Peter sing his last 'It's In Your Eyeees'.. I cry, or almost! ..each time.
This is one of the best Live Performances i've ever seen.
Oh boy, I'm a 60 year old Englishman and don't feel bad about tearing up, I did the same. Great reaction. ✌️♥️🇬🇧
Anyone who digs Peter Gabriel has my subscription. Keep it up!! I have seen some of the most epic concerts on the planet......this is one I regret not experiencing. Anything from this concert is worth reacting to.
Peter Gabriel is incredible this track is pure perfection it's beautiful I have listened to this many times but not for a while I got so emotional listening to it this time your reaction added to it you have obviously got a great love of music like myself I would be lost without it I find it so rewarding in so many ways great reaction from you I feel so happy now
I saw Peter in concert on this tour (early 90's). This song was part of the encore, and was amazing to hear live. All around great concert. Peter ran around the stage for 2 hours. Incredible energy and stage presence. Peter was as amazing with Genesis, as he was in his solo career. Genesis was at the cutting edge of prog rock, and Peter's solo work was also groundbreaking. It is a testament to both Peter Gabriel and to Genesis, that I liked Genesis both with and without Peter (Phil Collins took over as the front man when Peter left) and also liked Peter's solo work. He is also a great humanitarian. I hope you can do more Peter and some Genesis songs.
Well said!👍
I'm so envious!
I remember the story that when Gabriel was not getting the funding to get Real Work up and going, Genesis were "we got your back" and did a reunion tour with him, hanging him all the proceeds.
Goosebumps and crying to this music tells me everything I need to know about a person ❤❤❤ it's spectacular isn't it??
This whole concert "Secret World" is awesome.I recommend watching it all.
Ah! F I N A L L Y! 😍😍
Peter Gabriel was one of the few musicians that really put spotlight on the Apartheid regime in S.A.
His song BIKO made me listen and ask question about Apartheid to teachers and public figures. There were little knowledge in schoolsystems, and it was a hot potato in world politics
And he has done so much for world music and people around the world.
I'd advice you to listen to BIKO, make a reaction to it. PLZ❣
And it was the starting point where Peter G. started influence the World Music Scene.. His connection and work w Nelson Mandela.
I was so lucky to watch Peter Gabriel, Nelson Mandela, and world class musicians on the MANDELA Concert in Tromsø in 2005.
Memory for a lifetime ❣
His performance of Biko at the amnesty international concerts was one of the most powerful live concert moments ever.
His performance of Biko at the amnesty international concerts was one of the most powerful live concert moments ever.
@@2727rogers yers DEFFO!
Peter Gabriel is a genius!!! My all time King of music. From the early beginning with Genesis until now. He is still going strong and I am going to se him in concert in Stockholm in may 2023. 👍👍👍
Your reaction brought me so much joy. 🙏
A jaw drop is the appropriate reaction to Paula Cole's 15+ second long Aria.
You need to sit down and watch the entire Secret World Live DVD in its entirety. It was released the same year as Pink Floyd’s Pulse DVD, and these two concerts stand as two of the greatest live concerts ever, as far as I’m concerned.
This performances was so epic that I didn't think any UA-cam reaction channel could do it justice. But you absolutely DID. I almost enjoyed your reaction as much as the song.
thank you very much!
I've watched several reaction videos to this song now and this one is by far the most joyful and fun one to watch. Seeing someone completely enveloped in joy from watching and listening to this is absolutely magical. Thanks @rosalieelliottofficial
You had the same reaction I had, and probably everyone else. When you watch this for the first time you see the separation of really good live performances. Peter Gabriel never disappoints.
I'm sooo glad you liked this as much as we do❗🥰❣🧡🤗
I see your reaction the second time and i love your moves, brillant.😘😘
The gravel in his voice gives it a perfect amount of texture.
Gabriel performs World Music that used musicians and music styles from everywhere. He his some Great songs
He’s an incredible artist. My favorite Genesis material is when he was with the band, true prog rock. I had the honor and pleasure of seeing him live once. The word is; new album and tour next year.
The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway was the best album EVER made!
I've been around for 63+ years and fell in love with this song long ago. A song of life and love. Self actualized, accepting your flaws and the flaws of humanity. We're not perfect and he makes that point. BTW - That has been my ringtone for when my wife of 40+ years. Paula Cole is amazing, the bass player and guitarist have been with him for a long time. Tony Levine - the bass player, is a moving collaborative influence in most of his music. Yeah, I'm a bass player. LOVE your reaction enthusiasm - infectiously gratified as I was - Q? Were those tears? I had them when I first heard the song. Regards - Michael.
29 years later we can live this magical moment together; most of us probably completely alone in front of our technology. We are invested with the heavy responsibility to make these platforms a powerful force for GOOD.
Peter Gabriel is an incredible ,"human being,,," he is one of the founding members of Genesis he also had a incredible solo career with a number one song you might have heard of called "sledgehammer"you did a great reaction,
You basically summed up how his fans feel about him..... There's rumors he may tour again...
The whole 'Secret World' concert video is a treat. If you liked this one track, the rest is right up your street too.
Manu Katche is killing it on drums 🥁
I was at the "Secret World" concert for the Philadelphia stop. Check out just about anything from that show by googling "Secret World Live." If you enjoyed this you will love everything else from that album / show!
As soon as I saw what performance this was a reaction to - I said to myself “She will jump up out of her chair. She can’t stay sitting for this!” I bet you would have loved being up on that stage and a part of that performance 😃.
I saw him on that tour - one of the best events I've ever experienced.
Sooooo jealous 😡😂😂
one of the most beautiful songs and performances ever
and to honest (really honest) ...the same for your reaction! LOVED IT! tears in my Ey...es I wasn´t able to watch in one part...
you got another Subscriber
in "love"... DJ and greetings from Germany
(haha... so glad you have a husband ... a happy one! ;) )
I think this reaction itself to the wonderful live concert celebration that is In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel saved me and brought me back to an even keel, that this reaction in its joyousness and wonder truly, I agree from comments, uplifted and is magical and moving as it moved you. I've come to think of the song through a lens beyond even romantic personal relationships to a kind just being and that which is beyond definition. Almost a kind of seeking, especially with some religion imagery (like a "religious" experience of the mystical, indescribable), the eye (the most complex part of any being and full of context and symbolism), and a sorta idiosyncratic narrative! That and various glimpses of duality and wholeness! This does recall to my mind to recommend to you Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill.
I had a great time hanging with you for this performance. Unlike you, I go way back to the early 70's with Peter Gabriel. He was a trailblazer both 'back in the day' with Genesis prog and as a solo artist. I suggest you try an early recording of Saulsbury Hill but after -you should continue with other songs on his Secret World Video.
Thanks for your channel and the joy I have when sharing this great music with you, Rosalie.
When Peter Gabriel was in Genisis, he hid behind a lot of makeup and costuming (insecurity??) but really blossomed when he became a single artist.
So much great music and great perfomers where around in the 1970's and 80's that is only remembered by those of us that lived those years. It is fun to see someone young when they discover some of this music. It's out there - go find it.
They will be listening to this a thousand years from now.
