Toontrack's EZdrummer 3 has a feature called Stacks. They act like a one-shot mixed with the original acoustic drum sample. Learn where to locate them and how to listen for them in this video.
The video above is the first 5 minutes of the 10 minute long Stacks video from The Drums Tab Course.

Create a song or grid editor course would be great!
@@MrHierundjetzt It is on my endeavor list, thank you!
Great job your doing, very nice presentation!
Thank you, Doc!
Interesting! I didn't know "stacks" was a thing in EZdrummer. Toontrack should explore this more!
Would be cool!
Great info Shawn, Thank you!
Thank you, Michael!
Thank you for this series! Very informative!
Thank you!!
it would be great to be able to hear the difference between the stacked vs not stacked in context. you know just like a dry over driven guitar does not sound as good in a solo context then you add a splash of reverb or delay and sounds great alone but in a band contexts you get rid of the reverb and delay and it sounds better or it makes more sense in a band context
Certainly, people will need to hear for themselves with their projects.
Thanks for this! you know so much about toontrack; can you confirm for me: Am I correct: in ezdrummer, you can not create instrument stacks right? and second question: you can't route instruments to (new/separate) mic channels right? And third question, you can't use cross mix instruments beteween ezdrummer expansion packs right? These are all things that are possible in superior drummer!
Yes with multiple instances of EZD in a daw.
No extra channels.
Yes in the instruments properties panel.
Love your content. Thank I came across it and can’t wait to deep dive. I was wondering if you have an expanded video on mapping with popular ekits?
I’m using a Roland TD-27 and haven’t been able to find much in the way of tutorials.
The TD27 has it's own preset within EZD. Have you used it yet? If so, what is the specific issue? It's under Settings>Edrums>Center screen menu.
I do not have a mapping vid yet, btw.
@@ShootieSchool yeah I use the preset but still have unreliable results with the hats, and also the hats showing up on my Tom rims for some reason. But mainly the hats issue with it recognizing what hit should be open or closed.
@@gdoneit You may want to make sure you're sending out default mapping from your Roland. A Factory Reset might fix things up, but I don't want to be responsible for you losing any of your settings.
There is a hihat adjustment on the bottom of the Edrums page in EZ.
Hat's triggering a tom could be "crosstalk" or a sensitivity setting for the tom in your Roland unit.
An elite group I go to for edrum support is vdrums.com.
I don't think I could diagnose it further from you explanation.
Yeah it’s never easy typing out an explanation. Thanks for the help! I’m going to keep working on it.
Best of luck. Initial setup always takes tweaking and patience.
I love ur channel… you provide great info on how to use the software.
How do I adjust the velocity on a kit so I can play ghost notes. Right now no matter how soft I hit my drums I get full velocity?
Thanks for saying. Grid Editor Tab, Near Bottom, Velocity Button will open up Midi Values editor. Here you can edit velocity per hit.
Do you have a ez drummer 3 preset that has all this applied ..kind likr a stacked custom preset?
The two presets they are available on, the stacks are already enabled.
How can I find midi files for known songs? For example I want to use EZD to play along with Speed King by deep purple.
Maybe try the Guitar Pro community since covers are most popular. I don’t think you’ll find many who are legally licensed and selling these types of files.
You can also add the stack to any EZ D3 OR 2 KICK OR SNARE....
In which way are you referring?
I don't understand why "stack" is so urgent....you can simply load another ex drummer 3 library in a different mix channel and u can stack everything u want, for istance I often add "claps" sound to main snare , loading in a different channel "ezx dance or synthwave kit"
I'm not sure where urgent came from. I think it's pretty convenient to click a button and have a clicking kick drum or a ringy snare. As for blending multiple instances of EZD, it's a great workflow.
@@ShootieSchool yes "urgent "is an inappropriate word, better say "the need", u r right
👍
you mean load another instance of ezd3 on a separate/new track in your DAW?
