I have a question, I have seen various definitions of polyfragmentation, one of them is when alters have their own alters, or sub-systems, and the other definition is having about 100+ alters. In your opinion, which definition is more accurate?
For us we refer to systems as people who are multiples, it's an umbrella term. Subsystems or polyfragmented are terms used to refer to individuals affected inside the system construct. I'm sure not every system uses these terms this way but this is how we as a system use them. -Daniel
I was wondering about one thing. Is there a different term between these; polyfragmentation having an alter have their own alters - and therefore have their “own” inner world as in a separate system than the “original” system, and; having alters split of alters but still have “one” system as a whole?
Our subsystems much less devided (now, they used to be very separate). Parts of the same subsystem have on average closer connections, less amnesia, and our littles usually have 1 or two main parents in their subsystem. So yes definitely we can interact in the headspace and even cofront together it's just not as common as interacting with our subsystem.
So I hope this doesn't come off wrong but your story kind of reminds me of the Valdemar series of books, by Mercedes Lackey. I don't mean to make light of anything that happened to you or anyone in your system; I apologize if it seems like I am.
this is so interesting, id never heard of subsystems before. thank you for explaining!
Love the metaphor of holding yourself up on a ledge. It’s a perfect way to describe fronting for some of us.
Hurt people hurt..sorry about your trauma..wish you heal soon, with ❤Rev.M

I appreciate the phrase, come into system. I’m going to adopt it to describe the beginnings of alters.
shit i was looking for linux stuff, this is deep.
So subsystems are like alters with alters?
Yes
is it possible for members of the subsystem to interact with people in the main system, in the main inner world?
