    I was one of the 1st takers on this kit (via iRacing Forums) when they were released. Not only does it help tremendously with VR cooling, but the immersion is simply amazing. Customer service is absolutely fantastic, right up there with all the good guys we know!!
    These guys really did a good job making this a truly "Plug and Play" kit. Really can't say enough about Gilbert and the rest of SRS 👍👍

    I made my own version of this, it's surprisingly good when you use it, to me it's like keeping the window slightly open to let air in. When you are wearing VR it's great for keeping you cool too. I'd also add that this product is extremely good value for money. I know because it's not much more than what it cost to make my DIY version.

      I agree. A lot of people just have no idea how much goes into producing a professional grade kit like this.

    Great review as always man! I have been looking into this feature for awhile too, if it sells the sensation of speed more in VR then I'm in 👏👏👏
    Would love to see you add transducers to your rig next. It really is good feeling the engine vibration at idle and also feeling other cars hit you on that corresponding corner of your rig 👍

    • @DESsimulation
      @DESsimulation 6 років тому +1

      Ryan Chenoweth You don't need transducers when you have a D-Box system.

    • @ryanchenoweth5673
      @ryanchenoweth5673 6 років тому +1

      DES Simulation is it as quick and responsive as Buttkicker Concerts and LFE's? 🤔

    • @DESsimulation
      @DESsimulation 6 років тому +1

      A D-Box system gives you a even better response than LFEs. But maybe Barry will chime in with his personal experience. He had LFEs on his stage 4 and he hasn't installed them on his new cockpit.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  6 років тому +4

      No need for transducers with the D-BOX system. Bumps, curbing and rumble strips with the D-BOX are noticeably better than my transducers ever were. And I was running 4 full sized LFE's. Each with it's own dedicated 1000w subwoofer amp.

    As someone who shoots long distance, very often based on calculations that include Kestrel data, I can say with confidence that if there are inaccuracies or variations in the process, they aren't related to the wind meter.

    • @SimRacingCorner

      Definitely, 6" USB fans are very cheap and push a decent amount of air for cooling. These sim racing fans are interesting but really a gimmick. Put that money into other sim gear instead.

      I purchased a floor-mounted, remote control oscillating fan to my VR racing/flying rig. Works great, and cost me $35.
      Barry, another great review of an interesting product. However, I've raced actual cars in the past, and even in open wheel vehicles, wearing a helmet and fire-retardant gear, never once recall that "wind in your hair" feeling you're gonna get from something like the Power Wind. I understand the illusion of speed you might get from the wind in your face rising and falling with your speed, but this is a trick, and not realistic, at least in my opinion.
      Maybe if I were sim racing open-wheel cars of the 1920's and 1930's, or sim flying open cockpit biplanes from WWI, but with any modern day vehicles, you're pretty isolated from the outside environment, especially the wind. And...there's the matter of the price of this product.

    Barry have you tried the hurricane version to compare between the two?
    Also, on your custom simworx plate for the sim Coach handbrake to be mounted on top, do you know the total width and length so I can be prepared to do that when my simworx shifter arrives shortly.

    Awesome Review as always!
    But why u need 2 powersupplys with each 2A... one Fan draws not even 0.5A...
    And i dont get why u have 12vpower and Data. U can Control the speed via PWM with the arduino...

    • @simracingstudio5462
      @simracingstudio5462 6 років тому +1

      a fan with 0.5 amp will not be powerful enough to give you strong wind. ours use 1.5A each so you can have 218 cfm. usually, a 0.5 amp will give you around 90-110 cfm. It makes a huge difference...I had those 0.5amp before assembling this kit.

    Very interesting. I bought a D-Box actuator set, a GT1 Evo and HE Sprint because of your reviews.. Now I'm looking at this. I'm wondering if it will add to the immersion when driving closed canopy cars? Or will it be weird? I've seen some GT3 cars with huge fans inside the cockpit.. I'd want to replicate reality as close as possible.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, a lot of GT cars have some form of air cooling for the driver. The fans can be easily tuned to your own taste. And for longer stints, they keep you much cooler than without. This also helps me maintain concentration better.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  6 років тому +2

      Not car specific. The system reads the speed the car is traveling and throttles the fans accordingly. So works on all cars. Actually a great cooling aid. It has replaced my 24 inch fan. But that may change once summer is in full force here in VA.

    I think it may dry your eyes out. I used a normal fan for my racing because I was just getting to hot (I live on the equator). My eyes dried out to quickly. Maybe for VR it will be good. Though people normally wear helmets, snoods under helmets and the rest of their gear they would only really feel the force of the wind. But then again I’m guessing.

    • @erwinlommer197
      @erwinlommer197 6 років тому

      For cooling fans you could just direct the fans so that they don't blow directly on your face/eyes.

    • @michaelchaplin866
      @michaelchaplin866 6 років тому

      Erwin Lommer that is true. It only made me think about these fans blowing into his face. Wind is wind, cooling fans are otherwise

    • @Eagleizer
      @Eagleizer 6 років тому

      Exactly what I was thinking. I too live near equator and have tried with fan.
      I now have it beside me, pointing slightly away from me so I don`t get the
      wind in my face. Dry eyes is already a problem when using monitors, and
      with a fan blowing in your face, they get dry very fast. If you use contact
      lenses it`s even worse. Guess you could use MC glasses though.LOL
      Anyway, this set is way too expensive for what you are getting. Noisy fans
      that uses way too much power being the most important.

    Barry I just received this set based on your review and very disappointed to learn that the GS-4 does not work with this system. If I launch the SRS software and then iracing and go into a test session the fans works etc and the SRS app shows game connected, this also works with Raceroom and AC.
    The problem is I have a GS-4 and 6 shakers that are ran via Simexperience.
    If I launch the Simxperience software my GS4 and all the shakers work great with Simvibe however the SRS software shows NO game connected in the app therefore the fans do not work.
    Any ideas on getting them both to work together?

      This will make absolutely no difference to your sweaty eyeballs while playing in VR. I have a small fan mounted on my wheelbase, and with the fan running. It keeps me slightly cooler, buy as the VR HMD is sealed against light, it is also sealed against cool air. anything longer than a 20 min race, I have to keep lifting the HMD off my face on straights to allow the air to cool me down a bit. Save yourself $100 and buy a small USB desk fan.

      Considering it's an arduino which costs $4 and 2 pc fans which cost $12 each (max). The only thing you're really paying for is the interface with the games which can be a pain in the backside sometimes and the power supplies plus maybe a couple of bucks for the 3d printing. Very over-priced in my opinion.

    • @simrigpc27b12
      @simrigpc27b12 6 років тому +1

      Mr Snipey I get what you're saying but it's not really about the individual parts that make up a kit. It really came down to what it gives me vs cost that makes this a winner in my book.
      I had a large oscillating fan on me for YEARS prior to coming across these guys. I was somewhat skeptical when I decided to purchase, but that all went out the window before my 1st lap ended with them.
      It isn't just wind in your face, it speeds up/down with vehicle speed in sim. It's a totally different than just a fan on you.
      The fact that all you have to do is mount them and plug in a few cables is great. Literally nothing else outside of that required and you are off and running. It's a very good product IMO.
