If you want extra padding, you can now, just add to your shakekit when you are selecting your options. We will integrate it on your seat so you don't have the trouble to disassemble it. Thanks Barry for the ideia.
Thanks so much for this! I've been umming and arching about a buttkicker but never thought it was worth the money for their 1 amp and 1 shaker. These guys have thought this through carefully and provided a better product (in my estimation) for Much better value. I'll be getting this next week!
You might well have a point there. However for me the seat is ideal due to noise (I'm in a flat) I wonder if in the future I may upgrade just the shakers when I move house and use the existing amps in a rig set-up should be a simple matter of soldering and wiring to the new shakers which would be directly on the rig (50 amps per channel should be plenty)
@falchulk So if using shakers is much better when you don't just sit on them (like you do with the SRS ShakeKit reviewed here), then why did you say your shaker experience was extremely lacking when you used even more powerful shakers and had them actually mounted? Are you saying mounting them is actually NOT any better than sitting on them like in the SRS ShakeKit? Not sure I understand you.
I love the review style and enjoyed your in depth review. I wish there was more of an actual personable impression. As a person that hasn't yet experienced transducers I would have liked to get your first impressions while sitting on them. No comparisons just if this particular feedback was good.
Great review. I have a few hours experience with this software, however I am using my own equipment. I have two Aura 50w transducers mounted in a pedal and seat configuration. Driving them is an SMSL 160w amp being fed by an internal Sounblaster sound card. Due to the recent release of the WTCR cars in Raceroom I have spent almost all of my time in those with SimRacingStudio and its freaking AWESOME! Honestly people this is an amazing upgrade that I would not want to be with out after using it for several sessions. If your rig is you sitting at a desk this is the perfect solution and is priced very well as you get the software for free with the Shakekit. I already had two transducers laying around so I opted for my own equipment and this is half the price of Simvibe. This coupled with VR and the immersion is AWESOME! DO THIS UPGRADE!
Hi, so you just have 1 puck under the seat and one on the pedals? This is the type of setup I would like. Do you have any links on how to set up something like this?
@@ravey1981 I do not really have any links on how to do this but it's pretty straight forward following the SRS setup guides provided on their website. But basically you would need a dedicated soundcard for the setup (separate from your main audio card). A two channel amp connected to soundcard and the shakers connected to amp. Mount the shakers to piece of wood if it's touching metal as there will be rattle. Drill holes in wood and you can use zip ties.
Thanks Barry...!!! 😎👌 I've actually already invested my transducer efforts into the "SimVibe" ecosystem. So I'm not likely to investigate this option for now. 🤔 Hopefuĺly I'll venture this way for my next build and take advantage of the fully integrated design and implementation offered by the "Sim Racing Studio - ShakeKit". 😎👌 Thanks for doing an awesome job as always in your review of this product. 🤗👍🏻
Fascinating product, thanks for the review Barry. I'm an ex-owner of a Buttkicker Gamer 2 and really REALLY miss that thing, but at not a cheap price, the requirement of an additional soundcard, and offering only a single transducer - it wasn't a perfect product. This is certainly tempting me.
Great vid Barry, love a bit of tactile feedback, personally I have spent small fortune on this tech. Love to see new technologies coming through, makes everything more accessible to them the want to take their immersion levels further without completely breaking the bank !!
Thanks for this comprehensive review Barry. The water was a great way to visually illustrate the effects. I’ll get one of the for DCS World, I see it is one of the supported games.
Great stuff Barry! Would love to see you do a review on the Buttkicker Lfe 4x setup. I have never been able to find this set up reviewed or a software setup tutorial.
Me too, especially from an 80/20 rig mounting perspective - there is plenty of information around, but nothing all in one place that I've found. The ShakeKit solution is far less scary, so I'm going to give it a go.
@@jaredkrinsky3345 that would be fantastic man! I'm running 4 x Concert editions on an 8020 frame and haven't been able to dial them in as much as I have liked which makes me think I need to go to a dbox setup and 1 x Lfe just for the engine vibrations? 🤔

Floors and walls are too thin if you ask me! Can you tell me if the SRS shakekit has this resonance effect through the whole cockpit? or is it all localized under the driver? I want to make sure it does not rattle the rig and can be felt through the floor. Would also consider Buttkicker alternatives but undecided. Also, is this kit compatible with wireless audio? I already use a logitech headset and it uses a USB output for it's receiver
I’m In Same situation I ended up with buttkicker and I added cloth around the bar it’s attached to. This seems to keep the rattle going through the floor. I’ve talked to my neighbor and he said he doesn’t hear anything
Nice review, would like to see if SRS could incorporate wheel slip into the haptic feedback... Would need to be a progressive high frequency response for individual wheel slip and low frequency for track bumps / rumbles... Would aid in car setup massively IMO.
I own one of these shake kits. I find it’s best to create an engine rumble effect. It’s not good for breaking , traction , bumps etc. Great for engine revs tho !
Have you looked at Gametrix jetseat? Great product, also has transducers for your back. It was about 200€ after shipping + taxes. I havent tried Sim racing studios seat so I cant compare their transducers to Gametrix's, but I can say I cant race anymore without jetseat, it gives so much more immersion to sims, especially with VR.
I own both. I actually use them at the same time - the SRS Shakeseat on top of the Jetseat. Honestly I wouldn't remove either of them from my rig at this stage. They both do slightly different things, but very well. The Jetseat is good for motion cueing - it gives you a sense of g-force. The Shakeseat is best at transients and road texture. Because it has transducers instead of motors, it has much less latency and much more fidelity. While the Jetseat's motors have their intensity tied to their frequency (spin faster to vibrate harder), the transducers in the Shakeseat can do them separately, so you can have low-strength high-frequency curb effects, as well as instant high-strength, single-stab suspension jostles/impacts/gear shifts. The newer software for the Shakeseat has added some g-force effects too, so it seems like the transducers can do both.
Yeah, in jetseat road effects are a bit sloppy and have some latency, but as you said its good in g-force simulation. I bet your setup feels great! Next best thing to motion seat.
The question and dilema i currently have is if i should move to 4 x Basskickers or i should by this pad. Unfortunately Barry didn't do a direct comparisson!

Not enough power to mount to a rig at four corners. But you could mount them inside the seat you use to drive with. They would be close enough then I think.
A sound card, two amps, 4 transducers, wiring and padding/cover are going to be more than 1/10th the retail cost, ignoring the included software. You’d be lucky to get the same setup for under $200 buying retail by the single item. And then you’d need to figure out how to hold them as well as purchase software. This looks like a very well priced, straight forward solution that takes little to no effort to be running.
Wonder if you take the transducer out completely and just mount them on your rig. How long are the cord ? The transducer themselves seem to have screw holes for mounting. Idk something don't feel right sitting on that 🤣

This to give sim racers the best chance of getting what is best for them.
I just installed a buttkicker gamer 2 on my playseat challenge for use with assetto corsa. Since I have a jetseat SE on backorder from Andre, I'm using simshaker wheels for the buttkicker. It's powerful! I have to turn the settings WAY down and set the seat on top of some anti-fatigue mats just to have it be tolerable, but it's really awesome with VR! I still haven't found quite the right settings for a single transducer just yet but I'm working on it. I'm sure it will work well coupled with the jetseat when it arrives. My plan is to have the jetseat handle the road bumps and surface texture while the buttkicker takes care of the wheel slip, shifting, and some of the engine. I'll report back with updates!
Can someone finally make affordable motion rig like D-Box ? Actuators are really cheap this days most of us have own cockpit ,there is also free open source software for actuators so i dont understand where is the problem ?
It's too big. :/ My OMP racing seat is for "larger drivers" and it's ~36cm wide, not 43cm. From the back to the high padding in the front (usable shaker area?), it's only ~32cm. With the high padding the front it's ~45cm. It should be made in different sizes. My seat is a OMP FIA WRC-R XL (HA/778E/N).
Ripoff and all it is good for is engine revs/shifts. Buy the Audio Sound pucks for $20 a piece and a cheap amplifier and you can pay less than half the cost of this and place the pucks all around your setup for suspension effects and engine revs/shifts.
I have a 100hp car I will go step by step to sexier cars and it will feel awsome, Barry has a a full g-forces motion rig, now how does it feel degrading to those much simpler transducers?
Doesnt motion rigs mainly simulate what thy are called after? The motion of the car? Like, it can simulate g forces but it cant reproduce small local vibrations that you feel from each wheel
This only vibrate your butt though. The whole rig need to vibrate to feel that you're in an actual car. I doubt you feel every bump on the road. You don't feel the bounce but just vibration.
If you want extra padding, you can now, just add to your shakekit when you are selecting your options. We will integrate it on your seat so you don't have the trouble to disassemble it. Thanks Barry for the ideia.

@@cptclutch2530 Yes the Realteus uses motors. Really the only way you are going to know which would be best for your application is to try them both. I know that is unlikely because of cost and availablity. I can't tell you which one you would like better. I can only show as much detail in my reviews as I can.
What is "affordable"?
1000 - 2000 $
There is easy enough DIY which costs €2k give or take.
Dof reality h3
Yo ushould attach tactile transducers to the FRAME, NOT the cushions!!!
It's too big. :/
My OMP racing seat is for "larger drivers" and it's ~36cm wide, not 43cm.
From the back to the high padding in the front (usable shaker area?), it's only ~32cm. With the high padding the front it's ~45cm.
It should be made in different sizes.
My seat is a OMP FIA WRC-R XL (HA/778E/N).
Given the design you can easily adapt it to any seat. I have mine installed inside of my seat.
Brett Swain I use an old Seat out of a Mustang and I’m planning to place mine in the foam of the seat.

sod that clanking noise lolol wtf
its it better than butt kicker
Ripoff and all it is good for is engine revs/shifts. Buy the Audio Sound pucks for $20 a piece and a cheap amplifier and you can pay less than half the cost of this and place the pucks all around your setup for suspension effects and engine revs/shifts.
I have a 100hp car I will go step by step to sexier cars and it will feel awsome, Barry has a a full g-forces motion rig, now how does it feel degrading to those much simpler transducers?
So if you have really good golf club you don't need a hat?
Doesnt motion rigs mainly simulate what thy are called after? The motion of the car? Like, it can simulate g forces but it cant reproduce small local vibrations that you feel from each wheel
This only vibrate your butt though. The whole rig need to vibrate to feel that you're in an actual car. I doubt you feel every bump on the road. You don't feel the bounce but just vibration.
Do I want this if I have Dbox?
