I just bought their more "standard" double fan setup based on your review before... and I cant imagine how insaanely powerful these must be. I think I have mine turned down to 20-30 percent in most games because of how crazy strong the "double the wind" fans are.
It's just for additional physical feedback, not trying to simulate the real world (as it's not realistic) so it doesn't matter what car you are driving.
@@KarlGosling Hmm while its not 100% realistic as you have a helmet on while you drive f1, I still think that f1 drivers feel some wind feedback when driving high speeds. Some drivers also open their helmet a little bit, to add wind flow in it, so it helps cooling when driving Also back in 60s and 70s they had open helmets back than, so the wind feedback you feel from these hurrican would be actually realistic if you drive these older cars in asseto corsa or project cars
Thank you for your videos Karl. I was thinking the fans are sucking air very close to the floor' there is not enough clearance in front of them, that will affect the airflow big time, imho.
Nice vid. Some tips for acc there am noticing as I’ve had the same. Change your AA to Kunos should remove the ghosting you can see on the side mirrors. Modify hud config file and change left & right to 1920 I believe.
Cheers! I was curious about the ghosting, I thought it was a motion blur setting but hadn't got around to looking at it yet! :) Whats the modifying of the HUD config file for?
I know this is old but how do we change AA to Kunos? Are you talking about "AA compatibility (DX1x)" or "Antialiasing - Bhavaior Flags" in Nvidia Inspector or something? If so, I don't see Kunos. I do see Assetto Corsa for the behavior flags but Nvidia already sets it to that automatically.
Hi Karl, sorry to hijack a different video for an off-topic question. I've recently ordered a CSL DD - was wondering if you think the GT Omega Titan would hold up with good rigidity? A lot of previous reviews reference CSL elites etc, so wasn't sure, thanks
In this weather at the second I really wish I had something like this :) I have a Thrustmaster TMX, nothing fancy but good enough for my brief forays into racing games. Is this standalone or does it need a specific wheel? If not, are there any wind simulators you can recommend that are fairly plug and play? Just for us occasional strap the wheel to the desk and chase the pedals players?
Sorry for the dumb question, but how do you use the discount link? I followed the link to SRS and selected the product, but I need a code to get a discount don’t I?
Hello mate, hope your well. Off topic question. I've noticed you have been using more ACC content in your videos, does this mean it has become more of your main go to sim? I only ask as I keep trying to find my feet on ACC but can never really 'fall for it as the FFB seems quite...dull let's say? (But then I'm not sure if its because the game feels slow as I mainly play the F1 games - if not Assetto Corsa )
Thanks for the video. I plan to get a sim wind kit soon so VERY helpful! Was curious if you have ever tested or know anybody that has used the kit from hsimracing?? It looks nice but VERY expensive compared to the sim racing studio products so it makes me pause about considering their kit. Was also curious, what do you feel is the better place to start to add immersion...Sim Studios Shake Kit or a set of these fans? I plan to do both eventually but can't afford both at the same time. Thanks Karl!!!
For me, transducers are an absolute must. As Karl stated, air constantly blowing over you may change your wellbeing during long stints (becoming cold, dry eyes, etc). Transducers will give the impression of actual road surface feel and kerbs which is very immersive. Once road feel is dialled in, wind sim should be next on the list.
I have both and they’re both great. If I had to get one before the other, I’d get the shake kit in conjunction with a generic fan first. Unless you already have vibration, like a But Kicker or other transducer ?
@@charzy11 Thanks for the reply! I do have a buttkicker currently and just using it for engine vibration and RPM's. Thinking it might be best to get the shake kit and complete that process. Do you have a buttkicker as well? Once I got used to it, I don't really feel it much through my rig. I've heard people say that plugging it into the Sim Racing Studios shakebox adds to the effect of the buttkicker and was curious if that was true. Thanks in advance.
Hey Karl, Great education on wind fans and setups. I just don't understand why these companies don't just add a directional nozzle like air con on a car, rather that having to mount and position the fan for every adjustment. Or do they do this that I'm not aware of?
Can’t seem to get the system to work on other games, such as AMS 2 and DR2, have yet to test other games, but seems to work well with ACC. I only hope that it works on other games.
But Karl, you don't feel wind inside a car! There, I said it. Now everyone who wants to gripe can just upvote this instead of flooding the comment section.
It's also about fun and immersion. Whether this introduces any realism is up for debate. There are many other aspects of sim racing that are introduced for the comfort and convenience of users that are not present in real racing. I think these are an excellent example of why sometimes, a sim racing cockpit for all intents and purposes does not necessarily have to try and mimic "real world" scenarios to bring increased or more actual immersion. Most users that buy into this type of tech seem to like it. The wind simulator takes the immersion to a whole new level, especially if you are wearing a VR Headset. However, realism and immersion are not necessarily the same thing and I'm open to this adding some immersion to the Sim Racing experience. I've read, and seen a few videos where, people talk about how having fans that increase their airflow in direct relation to the speed of the car can increase their immersion levels. Be nice to hear from some owners of this and those that use it.
@MrThamahn no it doesn't really add immersion... feeling wind doesn't do much at least for me, it is a bad effect that they tried to use in "4d" movies which also did poorly.
I don't see your Hair fly in the wind 🙂 hehe. I orderd this wind sim, think this week I get it. I play rFactor2 in VR (Reverb G2) and this win gen I think its great for VR for speed feeling imersion and cooling the head / glass a little bit. So I have two nice options here. Greets from Berlin. This is best in VR! My set up would be less wind simulation on straight and more in fast corners. Thanks for an idea.
