  • What’s up guys?! Here’s my review of the 2014-2019 C7 Chevy Corvette! It’s got a 6 speed automatic and the 460HP LT1 V8 engine. It makes magnificent noises and puts a big smile on your face, at least that was my experience.

    I've owned mine for a few years and it's a great car. What you've said is true. The few things to watch out for, when thinking about buying one: 1.) It's quite low. You really have to watch speed bumps and there may be some that you might have to avoid, 2.) a lot of Corvette owners do their own maintenance and you may need to buy specialized items if you plan to work on it yourself, like a low-profile long reach car jack and purchase some jack hardpoints to protect your composite parts and underbody, 3.) the car does have a direct injection engine and some people install an oil catch can to prevent the valves from accumulating carbon buildup, 4.) changing the car battery takes acrobatics and some duct tape to hold back the cables when you install the new one. The battery compartment is small. 5.) the wheels are cast rather than forged and there have been issues with bending after hitting something. Not a problem with the base model or the Z51, but this can be an issue on the Grand Sport and Z06. Custom forged wheels are [very] expensive but you may want to consider them. As with most cars, there have been incremental improvements to the C7 Corvette through the years including a flat bottom steering wheel, Apple Car Play and Android Auto, and slightly improved cooling. 6.) If you damage the composite exterior, you will need to go to a specialized shop to have it worked on - many shops do not do composite or fiberglass repair or replacement, including dealerships. 7.) cold tires and gravel-covered roads are not good for rear wheel drive, high horsepower cars, so be very careful if you're doing "pulls."

      That's not true about rims not cracking on the Z51. I had a cracked rim and documented it on my UA-cam channel: ua-cam.com/video/qMD7_Q0dHqs/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared

    I recently picked up a '14 laguna blue vert, z51 w/ mag ride, 64k miles, MANUAL. This car is a friggin blast. I am retired and take it out for a 50-60 mile ride almost every day. Can't believe how well it holds corners with zero body roll. It sticks like glue and handles almost any road. Deep pot holes let you know you hit them but on reasonably smooth roads it rides really well. The seat leather is cracked and no replacements are available. Door arm rest and right arm rest (cubby cover) have permanent dents from arms resting on them. That is the sum of the issues with the car. Well designed in almost every respect and both design and quality are holding up well. 'Vettes are very reasonable to keep running and very reliable. I changed the plugs, serpentine belt, belt tensioner, air filters(s) (engine and cabin), changed out clutch fluid and total cost was ~$180. Brake pads and rotors are very reasonable, clutches are quite robust with very few owners reporting any issue with them. Tires are expensive--stay away from run-flats due to: noise, harsh ride, noise, poorer handling, and noise. Always keep a 'vette aligned or you will be replacing those expensive tires every 5,000 miles. Acceleration is fantastic and an absolute blast! Live in Maine and the windy roads with rises and falls make aggressive driving bring a grin to your face every time. Yes I'm expecting to have at least 1 to 2 tickets by the end of summer but that's just a tax on aggressive driving and if that's what it takes then so be it! If you're thinking of one, buy it--you won't be disappointed! So much nicer interior than my c6 4LT.

    Great car for road trips, very comfortable, fast, cold tires are the recipe for a crash but after their warm it hooks up so good, I prefer the convertible over the hatchback and the brakes are incredible.

    The C7 is an amazing car. My 2019 GS M7 ZO7 is my 4th Corvette, and Im not sure I ever see myself trading into a C8. I respect and appreciate the continued refinement of the C8, but i grew up with muscle cars and love the front engine design and style. While its a great track car, and a great street car, Im not sure I'd want to drive it every day as my only vehicle for a number of reasons, so i get why so many have low miles and have the cush life of a garage queen. My Vettes have all been really reliable vehicles and this video did a good job showing all the many amenities and features built into the C7.

      Great insight, thank you for sharing and I’m glad you enjoyed my video. The C7 is a fantastic car. Corvettes are consistently one of the most enjoyable platforms I’ve driven. I did do 2 C8 videos in the last month, they’re incredible vehicles, but definitely less raw than a front engine Vette.

    Great video, good job! I've owned a C3, C5, C6 & now presently a C7. You're spot-on, the C7 is a far better than the C6. Corvette refinement generation to generation has kept the Corvette relevant & desirable. The C7 captured the 'best curb appeal' in Corvette lineage. My advice is snag a nice used C7 for less than 1/2 that of a C8 before they disappear. Take notice, used C8's are flooding the marketplace. C7's are growing fewer & farther between.

    My 2015 z51 has been great.. it has the new a8 tran which did have issues initially and would shift ridiculously hard.. and occasionally traveling at speed it would act wonky.. the solution was a 3 time flush of the transmission oil.. for $1000.. the automatic shift is kinda slow.. takes a few fractions of a second to shift after you pull the paddle.. had to replace the fuel tank which somehow got cracked.. which set me back 3 grand.😢 IT is a beautiful car and I still get compliments on it.. and best of all, the engine is in the front!!! 😊

    You think this better than the 6th Gen Camaro SS/ZL1?

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  4 місяці тому

      I would say the ZL1 is the most hilarious of the 3 and obviously the most fast. The regular C7 really isn’t much quicker than a 6th gen SS in my own testing. Personally I’d probably still pick the C7. But that’s more due to the visibility and cargo capacity for road trips and daily driving. They’re all great cars! My favorite would likely be a c7 zo6, best of both worlds! I haven’t driven one of those yet.

      The guy I bought my c7 from bought a c8 in Red Mist Metallic and oh my God is that a beautiful color! I really like the c8 but with no manual available the decision was already made--after all, I was buying this car for me, not my mother.
