You helped me pick a name for my twins! I was able to pick baby A's name and dad picked baby B. It was the boho baby names video. The name I picked for my twins was Evadine, but we chose to spell it EVEDENE. We always get compliments, Evedene and Iris 💜💜 thank you 😊
I work in the medical record department of a hospital so I have access to some of the new baby names that parents are choosing for their children. The most recent one that caught my eye was Kainoa. I think it would be a good alternative to Noah or even Kai. It's Hawaiian with two meanings; sea of peace and namesake.
I have a Casper, I think I’m a brave namer with that not-common-but-not-unheard-of sweet spot. My partner, on the other hand, liked Edward one minute and Malachi the next. 🤷♀️
We named our son Noah thirty years ago and it was really so unusual then, that it raised a few eyebrows. My parents even phoned me up and tried to dissuade me from using it! Can you believe that it is now so popular? We were obviously ahead of our time! Also we named our second boy Ned Thaddeus!
SJ this burgundy jumper is so lovely on you I am definitely a Brave Namer while my partner is the SAFEST 😭 I refuse to use something in the top 100 (even like 500) and he ONLY suggest names in the top 20 😭 Sucker for Vintage name especially the rarely used ones (like Eunice and Edgar for example) added requirement that it has to be a French name (or atleast translate well in French, nothing with IN or ON ending just doesn’t work) Also, we know Oksana is gonna be the brave name option for Olivia next week ;) haha! Have a great week SJ xx
You and I must be kindred spirits - the requirements you listed were exactly mine for my baby boy born in December. My husband suggested very basic names, but somehow he agreed to Thibault.
I’m definitely a “safe “name her, at least with boys names. I do like otto quite a bit. Noah has been the number one name in the US for a long long time. I really liked Noah Theodore for a boy. Still do.
Great list! My brother's name is Donovan and his first son was just born, named Dune Isaac! So he has a brave name but his son's got a very daring one. Would honestly love a scifi baby name list! Not sure it's your style but names like Kirk (star trek), Drax (guardians of the galaxy), Ripley (Alien), Rey (star wars), Elliott (ET), Neo/Matrix (could be a very daring mason alternative), Riddick etc!
Love this idea. My cousin was looking for a super unique name for her boy and I suggested Riker, like commander Riker from Star Trek TNG. She absolutely loved it and he so fits his name. I hope she does a sci-fi/fantasy/comic name list one day.
@@emily_gross1990 Riker is such a rad name! It's also the name of the main character in Altered Carbon on Netflix - if your cousin is intrigued with that name she should watch that show. It seriously makes me want to use that name too!
Yes! A scifi list! That would be so radical! So many of the names you suggested here in this comment already give me nostalgia and a great big smile! If I met a kid with any of these names I would automatically think they are cool and daring!
Yes this is a great idea! You can also find some interesting names on The Voyager series. Icheb, Mezoti, Azan, and Rebi were all borg children with great names!
We liked the name Bodhi for our son, but I could see it was on the rise so we went with Boaz (strength) lots of people were shocked but it grew on people quickly and we love it 🥰
For a hot second I really LOVED Tobin, especially because I'm a huge fan of the nickname Toby, but after I kept saying it all I could hear was "toe bin" and think of a bin full of toes
As an alt to Finn I think Flynn is really cool. Not only does it sound similar its also gives me adventurous, cheekie chappy vibes. Also Errol Flynn old Hollywood association which I think is kinda cool.
I loved your channel when I was pregnant! Wanted to give a suggestion since I’ve never seen my son’s name on a baby list anywhere, I’m surprised by how frequently people tell us they have a family member with the name. It’s traditionally a nickname but we named are son Lalo and have absolutely loved it for him!
I think I’m a safe namer when it comes to boys. I love traditional boy names like Benjamin and George. I just think they are so sweet and timeless. No matter how popular they are I love them❤️
We have a Jonah. I love the name and never hear it very much so it was nice to see it on one of your lists. We also have an Eloise which I think is a great alternative to the beautiful but very popular Olivia.
When I chose Finn 13 years ago it wasn’t a name I’d heard of! I actually wanted Fox but it was too out there and Finn really hates when I tell him he could have been Fox! It’s so popular but with all these other lovely unusual boys names I definitely agree and think Finn is now a safe name! Xx
Donovan is my 5 yr old son's name! Love it. We call him Doni as nickname because it is an honor name for great grandpa and an uncle. But I loved Van as nickname for that and the name Evander. Arthur was on our list for our second son, we went with Albion (n.n. Albie)
Just as an FYI, in your Day In The Life section, you have a video that’s another UA-cam. She’s awesome, but I had a feeling that link was a mistake and wanted to make sure you knew! You’re awesome, btw. Thanks for everything you share.
I’m all over the place, I was 19 when I had my first and 29 when I had my last so the names I loved then vs now are very different. My Jack was supposed to be Archer until we met him but he didn’t suit it he only looked like a Jack. I have Tristan, Silas, Jack and Summer. I think I’m brave when it comes to names. But maybe I’m a little safe. Meadow and Evander are my favs right now.
I am definitely on the brave side. Wouldn't want to go for anything in top 100 but we've been trying for a baby for so long my picks keep getting popular. So I guess you've just got to pick one you like as anything might get popular in a couple of years! I love Donovan but couldn't use it as Husband is Dan and I'm Danni, so having Don would be too much! We've always said our boys name would be Walker as its an unusual family name but would be interested if others think it is brave or 'out there'?
My husband wants a B name for a boy. I like Bartholomew or Balthazar but with Malachi (non negotiable) as a middle name, it's just a wee bit too long. I kinda fancy Brett or Bastien. Any thoughts?
This is such an amazing list!! Normally any list that includes Bohdi is so far off my taste that I don't even need to pay attention, but this was such a brilliant idea!! There were so many names on my list already, so I am definitely more of a daring namer it seems. I figured I would be. Thaddeus was my top pick for a boy but my husband didn't love Teddy as a nickname. I love Tobin but I also love Torbin, as it's a bit different again and less likely to be confused with Toby. I love Shiloh for a girl but it was going back and forth for me for boy or girl as you said it's very gender neutral. It will always remind me of my favourite Neil Diamond song!! 💖 But yes, really great name list, SJ! You are smashing it as always 😍😍
These are some of my favorite videos- love coming up with unexpected alternatives to trending names. Tobin is lovely and I'm always surprised it's not more popular. I love Otto (I used to babysit an Otto and he was just the sweetest!) Thaddeus, Donovan, Alfred, and Wilbur! I think some nice daring alternatives for Finn could be: Fox Whitt/Whitney/Whittaker Reed Albin Wren Blair Fern Some others I love- Alternatives to Oliver: Oleander (also a strong alternative to Alexander) Vetiver Pascal Octavian Ferdinand Yves Alternatives to Arthur: Luther Bjorn Alphonse Ambrose Winslow Albert Thoreau Orson (also a good alternative to Oscar) Wolfgang Wolfram Alternatives to Leo: Leto Elio Rocco Kit Vale Eero Silas Flynn Linus Nero Alternatives to Oscar: Edgar Roscoe Jules Arum Casper Calder Icarus Fraser/Frasier Oberon
I also know multiple Thaddeuses (they both go by Thad), a Jonathan using Jonah as a nickname, and used to know a Kipp, so anyone wondering if they’re realistically wearable, they are! (At least in northeast US, where I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of Donovan’s/Donny’s too) Otto is the name of my alma mater mascot, but it’s so cute if you aren’t nearby. Also, If Alfred is too overused, I was going to name my hamster Alphege (nicknamed Alfie), after the obscure saint from Bath, UK. Idea if Wilbur is too out there, I want Walter to be a bit more popular.
Not having kids anytime soon but down the line I want to name one of my kids after my great grandmother, Frances/Tzipora. I’m struggling to think of names that are similar - Frankie is ok but I don’t love Francesca. Any ideas?
Tzipporah is literally one of my favorite names of all time! If I was Jewish, I would definitely be using it! Other ideas for Frances: Francine (fran-SEEN) Francisca (fran-SIH-ska) Nicknames for either of these names could be CeCe or Franca, both of which I ADORE!
If Noah is too popular, you could use Naoise (Pronounced Nee-Sha) The name Naoise has two meanings. The first is of the Irish warrior. The second is that Naoise is the female version of Noah from Noah’s Ark. The second meaning makes the name Gender Neutral, although Billy Cyrus named one of his daughters Noah so it is still a daring option just as it is. I am not very religious but I do like the name.
I think the reason Milo/Mylo comes up with several possible meanings when you search online is because some people assume it's a short form of Miles/Myles, whilst it's true that Myla is the feminine form of Myles with a y (which means soldier) personally I believe Mylo with a y is just a spelling variation of Milo with an i
I have an Arthur, but here in Sweden, it's not very common, which I'm happy about, but would have chosen the name anyway, because I love it. Also have an Elton, and I'm still so in love with the name, almost 5 years later😊
We went daring with our son that we lost in the second trimester. Calcifer (no real meaning, but it is a nod to my brother Calvin that passed away as an infant) James (after my husband's paternal grandfather). Calcifer was on our name list, but I wasn't committed bc I knew it posed the potential for teasing and the constant having to spell it or correct the pronunciation. However, it was the name that stuck with me and Peter was set on James as a middle name. It's fun to imagine if he would've been nicknamed CJ or Cal (my personal choice).
Been waiting all day for this ❤️ I still have no name for my third baby girl who is here in 4 weeks, we have a small list of Sunday, Peaches , Hazel and Honey. What are we all thinking do any of them sound nice together 💗💗
I like Hazel and Sunday as first name options! I'm more keen on Honey and Peaches as middles personally. Also agree with others that Hazel Sunday (or Sunday Hazel) makes for a strong combo!
Jonah and Tobin are two of my all time favourite boy names - I'm always really attracted to Hebrew boy names. Otto and Wilbur are also on my name list.
My dog is kipp he get named kippy, kipper. I love it it’s so unusual and no one has it at the moment, he’s 3 now, I got it from a book, so happy with it
Sadly I haven’t had the chance to name any boys because I have a daughter and am expecting a second girl in June. For a boy, I love Thaddeus but feel like I may not be brave enough to ever use it! I would definitely consider using Donovan, love Dono as a nickname. Personally, I love the name Briggs for a boy.
I have never considered Tobin, it's lovely. Wilbur is a very sweet name. I would like to hear people's opinion on a name, Fennimore. I like it as a middle name but I also think you could use it as a first name because I think Fenn is quite a cute nickname! The I is pronounced like an eh sound, Fenn - eh - more. It was name for a person who was thought to be splendid and very likable. It is derived from the Old French words fin, a nickname for a very elegant man and amour, meaning love. What do you guys think?
I really love Koa, Kipp, Kit and Scout. Bodhi, Brooks & Banks, Shiloh & Thaddeus ... maybe Donovan & Elon too. I am def not a safe name but am prob a bit more brave than daring!
An a lternative for THEODORE is MATTEO. You can nickname both Theo or Teo, I think they are similar, but two different names. ☺️ What do you guys think? 🤍
I don’t know if March is brave. It’s not as out there as some other alternative month names (October, November). Claude probably is, I feel like people are quite anti Claude
@@aaronaldmcdonald I would honestly say March is braver than November or October, as it's also a word name :D And with names like Octavia and Tobias rising, October feels pretty normal. Novemeber reminds me of a chartoon character, I've definitely heard it before - never March though! That being said, March sounds a lot like Marge, so it does have that name-sound to me :) I'd say you're a daring namer, the names are cool! :D
I always loved the name Arthur, me and my husband are more daring tho and he didnt love it. So i pitched a different version i came across, Artaius. He loves it and its our top name on the list now. Has the same meaning and comes from the same celtic bear god mythology. For you other daring ones, try Artaius!
I love Love the names Jonah, Tobin , and Otto . For Noah my favorite alternative is Noble , for Theodore, I love the alternative Donovan but I Really love the alternative Tobias , with the short form , Toby. I love Love Brooks so much more than Bodhi and it is in fact my favorite B name for boys.
Otto and Thad leapt out to me! However in France, they would pronounce it TaD because they don't have "th" like we do in English.. It looses it's special strength with that pronunciation lol.
I love Koa on this list but I am obsessed with Kai. Both Hawaiian but the 1 syllable sold me for a middle name spot that I feel pairs nicely with a more traditional name. We are naming our boy Abram and I love Abram Kai and hubby likes Abram Matthew. Still trying to convince him on Kai 🙈
Im a safe namer lol my boys William I just like names my children won't have to spell out and can buy cups etc with thier name on, btw Milo to me is a drink lol I'm an Aussie

Amazing!! So so happy to hear this :-) xxx

casper is pretty common where im from especially these past few years :)
I have always liked Kasper ja Jasper a lot!
My little cousin is Casper :) although he’s in his 20s now so not that little haha
I have a Caspian !
Love Otto and Kipp!
I found both Corbin and Bowen as last names on our family tree and feel they have similar vibes to Tobin
Absolutely love this concept!!! So so helpful and I can't wait for the girls one! Would love to see more videos in this style or a podcast episode!
SJ this burgundy jumper is so lovely on you

how do you look and see how many babies were named it in years past? I'm always trying to see that but I somehow only find the top 1000 names

My daughter has a friend at school named Donovan and his nickname is Dino 😍🦖🦕
My son's name is Oakes. Definitely the same sort of vibe as Brooks or Banks, I loved names ending in S but I wanted something different!
We liked the name Bodhi for our son, but I could see it was on the rise so we went with Boaz (strength) lots of people were shocked but it grew on people quickly and we love it 🥰
Boaz is great!

I heard toe beans like a cat 🤣❤️

Loved this video! 😍 I love more daring names but in reality think I would lean towards safe bets!

Elon (Élon in Hungary) is one of my secret favourites. 🥰 Such a cool but cute, gentle, but manly name. Perfect meaning. 🤍
I love the name Kipton and Kip for short. So sweet
As a Dutch person Ziggy feels way more wearable than Kipp. Because well Kip with one p means chicken in Dutch haha
We have a Jonah. I love the name and never hear it very much so it was nice to see it on one of your lists. We also have an Eloise which I think is a great alternative to the beautiful but very popular Olivia.
I am so picky and I just added a new name to my list from this list. Thank you!! xx

Donovan is my 5 yr old son's name! Love it. We call him Doni as nickname because it is an honor name for great grandpa and an uncle. But I loved Van as nickname for that and the name Evander.

My husband's cousin has a little Tobin! He goes by Toby.
My dads name is Zygmunt (Polish name) and he goes by Zyggy or Zyg. It’s such a cool name and really suits him
Can't wait for the girls list! We've got our baby girls (due July) first name sorted but working on a middle name is proving to be tough
I would consider my style to be more “daring”, but I also love the “o” sound and it’s all over my list.
If I were in the UK, I would probably be a safe namer, but since I'm in the USA, I'm definitely a daring namer. I have Eoin Robert and Callum Brooks.
Really liked this list. So many wonderful names.
Love Donovan, Finn and Wilbur!
I'm really liking Kipp actually. I've always loved Otto and Thaddeus. I also love Todd, and I've named my pet rat that.
Definitely fall under the brave catagory. Can't wait for the girls list!
I’m 10 weeks and if we have a boy it’ll be named Arthur, mostly called Artie ❤️
I am definitely on the brave side. Wouldn't want to go for anything in top 100 but we've been trying for a baby for so long my picks keep getting popular. So I guess you've just got to pick one you like as anything might get popular in a couple of years!
I love Donovan but couldn't use it as Husband is Dan and I'm Danni, so having Don would be too much!
We've always said our boys name would be Walker as its an unusual family name but would be interested if others think it is brave or 'out there'?
I love the name Walker! Definitely not too “out there”
I think it’s brave but definitely not out there. It’s a recognisable name that everyone will be able to spell and pronounce
I used to know a Miles. I thought it was strange (all our names were top 50 names), but now I love it. It would be a good alternative to Milo.
My husband wants a B name for a boy. I like Bartholomew or Balthazar but with Malachi (non negotiable) as a middle name, it's just a wee bit too long. I kinda fancy Brett or Bastien. Any thoughts?
What about Baxter or Bennett?
This is such an amazing list!! Normally any list that includes Bohdi is so far off my taste that I don't even need to pay attention, but this was such a brilliant idea!! But yes, really great name list, SJ! You are smashing it as always 😍😍
I like Otto & Thaddeus from this list. You had some great alternatives for commonly used names.
My parents named me Unity. Extremely daring i would say 😊
In my country “Tadeo” is our version of “Theodore” and I love it!!!
So glad you brought up Wilbur! Definitely on my radar 😍
Loved this list and concept ❤
I have a son name Donovan who is now a teenager and his friends call him Donnie. This is one of my favorite names of all time!!
Absolutely love this video, and the idea! You're so creative and the research and connections you make and do are fabulous. Thank you!
I just love you and your lists! Do you know of a UA-camr in the US who has updated information on names here?
Consider Osage . An Indian tribe. Met a boy named Osage in middle school
I can see Brooks becoming more and more popular! I would love to see Donovan used more
Brooks is actually already a Top 100 name in the US. So surprised that so few kids in the UK have that name!
I love Wilbur! My husband didn't really like it. But we got an Edison instead, so I was happy!
I think some nice daring alternatives for Finn could be:
Fox
Whitt/Whitney/Whittaker
Reed
Albin
Wren
Blair
Fern
Some others I love-
Alternatives to Oliver:
Oleander (also a strong alternative to Alexander)
Vetiver
Pascal
Octavian
Ferdinand
Yves
Alternatives to Arthur:
Luther
Bjorn
Alphonse
Ambrose
Winslow
Albert
Thoreau
Orson (also a good alternative to Oscar)
Wolfgang
Wolfram
Alternatives to Leo:
Leto
Elio
Rocco
Kit
Vale
Eero
Silas
Flynn
Linus
Nero
Alternatives to Oscar:
Edgar
Roscoe
Jules
Arum
Casper
Calder
Icarus
Fraser/Frasier
Oberon

Hi 👋 Joanie, how are you doing?
Not having kids anytime soon but down the line I want to name one of my kids after my great grandmother, Frances/Tzipora. I’m struggling to think of names that are similar - Frankie is ok but I don’t love Francesca. Any ideas?
Tzipporah is literally one of my favorite names of all time! If I was Jewish, I would definitely be using it!
Other ideas for Frances:
Francine (fran-SEEN)
Francisca (fran-SIH-ska)
Nicknames for either of these names could be CeCe or Franca, both of which I ADORE!
Florence gives me the same vibes as Frances
Maybe Celia or Celine?
Donovan has been on my baby name list since I was 12 years old! ♥️
We named our 10 month old Oliver and love it. We are over here in the US. His totally unrelated nickname is munchkin
If Noah is too popular, you could use Naoise (Pronounced Nee-Sha) The name Naoise has two meanings. The first is of the Irish warrior. The second is that Naoise is the female version of Noah from Noah’s Ark. We have our little Teddy (Thaddeus) her 4 now and he loves his name!
SJ what do you think of the name Kalista for a girl. I would call her Kali for short but I just want her to have a name she can grow up with.
I like: Bennet, Owen, Ellory, Raphael, Conwyn, , Arlen, Arden
I think the reason Milo/Mylo comes up with several possible meanings when you search online is because some people assume it's a short form of Miles/Myles, whilst it's true that Myla is the feminine form of Myles with a y (which means soldier) personally I believe Mylo with a y is just a spelling variation of Milo with an i

Been waiting all day for this ❤️ I still have no name for my third baby girl who is here in 4 weeks, we have a small list of Sunday, Peaches , Hazel and Honey. What are we all thinking do any of them sound nice together 💗💗
Peaches is so so cute ☺️
Honey Hazel 🥺🥺 sounds so sweet together
OK but I love Hazel especially with Armitage (which I'm presuming is your surname) with a combo of that list I think my favourite is Hazel Sunday :)

I’m loving Otto and Finn 💙
An a lternative for THEODORE is MATTEO. You can nickname both Theo or Teo, I think they are similar, but two different names. ☺️
What do you guys think? 🤍
My top girl name at the moment is March. It’s got pretty spring but also strong vibes. For boys I really like Claude and I have no idea why
I don’t know if March is brave. It’s not as out there as some other alternative month names (October, November). Claude probably is, I feel like people are quite anti Claude
@@aaronaldmcdonald I would honestly say March is braver than November or October, as it's also a word name :D
And with names like Octavia and Tobias rising, October feels pretty normal. Novemeber reminds me of a chartoon character, I've definitely heard it before - never March though!
That being said, March sounds a lot like Marge, so it does have that name-sound to me :)
I'd say you're a daring namer, the names are cool! :D
This is a fun idea!
Any name suggestions for a brother for Percy? Our surname is Summers. I like names like Arthur, Magnus, Felix that kind of vibe. Thanks in advance! X
Ivan, Elias, Dominic?
Arlo, Kit, Reuben, Merrick
I always loved the name Arthur, me and my husband are more daring tho and he didnt love it. So i pitched a different version i came across, Artaius. He loves it and its our top name on the list now. Has the same meaning and comes from the same celtic bear god mythology. For you other daring ones, try Artaius!
Artaius is beautiful!
Reminds me a lot of Atraeus / Atreus, which I think is another good, brave alternative for Arthur!
If you like Elon but fear it will not age well, might I suggest Levon, pronounced LEE-von, bit of an Elton John reference but wearable imo
Never wanted for a son it because common it but loved for my girl noa which isn’t
I love Finn and Arthur but also love Otto 😍 I think I could be brave but not daring
My favorite is as Tobin! Could never use though since I already have Tobias 🙈😂
I know a Thaddeus who goes by Tad instead of Thad
I love the name Brooks for a girl… odd one out probably 🤷🏻♀️
I’ve always loved the names Shiloh and Finn
Otto and Thad leapt out to me! However in France, they would pronounce it TaD because they don't have "th" like we do in English.. It looses it's special strength with that pronunciation lol.
My 2 1/2 year old’s name is Caspian Manuel 💙
Arkham for an Arthur alternative!
A friend's family has a Thaddeus and Theodore and another friend's uncle is Tad( Thaddeus)
Funny you say this, my dad's nickname was Tad (long story!), He passed away in 2012 and as soon as she said Thaddeus I was like omg Tad!
@@frankienew6966 awww that's sweet!!
Maybe Abram Matthew Kai?
I’m surprised there aren’t more Shiloh’s. I remember I was so upset when Angelina Jolie named her baby Shiloh, but it hasn’t taken off like I thought.
Im a safe namer lol my boys William I just like names my children won't have to spell out and can buy cups etc with thier name on, btw Milo to me is a drink lol I'm an Aussie
I love Elian but called my sons Iran and jolen (Iran with a hard I, not pronounced like the country name Iran lol) I also love Alby
my husbands name is Donovan. I wanted to name our first son after him but he didnt like the idea lol i now have a Joseph and a Jameson. Ages 2 and 4
Koa is Family Fizz’s little boy’s name!
