Would love to hear US stats as their high population is more indicative of long-term trends I feel. I'd love to hear Aussie stats though, too!! It would be interesting to compare the fast rising names in different English speaking countries.
Just named my son Otto last year, a very sweet name indeed! Met another woman in my town who almost named her son the same- born within a week of my son!
Aww I have a little Remy, so nice to hear it on your list!! I love his name and it suits him perfectly 🤍 I also love Beau, french names are so beautiful 😍
I think this is the first time that I’ve heard my sons name (Otto) in one of your videos since he was born exactly a year ago. I know it wasn’t on the list, but it’s funny to hear it mentioned. People still find it so unusual, even though it’s being used loads at the moment!
I'm a baby name fanatic and love watching your videos to learn new names. I was recently at the store and the guy at the cash was named Phoenix. He was young, maybe 18-21 and I thought his name was so cool. I can't wait to see what the next generation name their kids and how names evolve.
I love Phoenix! But i would never use it in Germany so it's one that'll get away from me 😥😂 I'd have brothers called Phoenix and Gryffin in a heartbeat if I lived in an English speaking country
My son is in the NICU atm and when I go to his room I will peek at the name boards if the curtains are opened in the rooms when I pass by. Here are the names I collected that I can remember off the top of my head: Mina David Ryder Helena Bryson Sophia Kevin … Best name: Legend (amazing! I think it’s a little girl) Least favorite: Gary III
Musa = Prophet Moses in Arabic Zakariya = Prophet Zakariya (father of John the Baptist) in Arabic Yahya = Prophet John the Baptist in Arabic They are all such popular baby boy names at the moment, I know so many under 6!
My son is three weeks old (in Australia) & we named him Jax Beau James. Finding a name was so difficult for a boy! We didn’t name him until we looked at him but we did have Bear & Opie as top contenders, he just looked so much like a Jax. My husband’s name is Keegan Anthony James, he is adopted but his birth Mum (whom is unknown to us) actually named him Anthony James. His adoptive parents wanted to keep that as part of him, so moved it to his middle name. My brothers name is Regan Bo-Jay. So landed on Beau James as Jax’s middle name to honour the two closest men in my life and hopefully will be in our son’s life.
If you want a name for your baby you could name her Genevieve if it is a girl because it is a beautiful name and it would suit the name of your baby or Christian if it is a boy and it would also suit and they have nice meanings as well. You want to have a baby that sounds good and nice to use. Your baby might end up liking a long name if you decided to do that. what do you think.
When I was a barmaid we had a customer named Abel who would come in sometimes and he was always the nicest man. Maybe it's weird to talk about a customer that way but he just seemed like a really stand up guy. Well groomed, masculine and never too fresh with the girls. Just kind, pleasant and easy to interact with. He's the only one I've ever met with that name.
I love love Elias!! As a french bilingual person I’d love to give my children English friendly names. It’s not that easy to find! I plan to make them listen to English at a young age like I was, so they can be at ease in english, which unfortunately is not the case if France for many people, unlike other European countries like Norway or Sweden were children are bilingual at a young age. I remember being 8 and listening to songs in english and having child’s books as well. 😊
I love nature names like River and Asher, and would not be at all surprised if they become very popular in the future. My little boy is called Ivo - it means 'yew tree'.
I would love to hear/see the American version of these list with the girl and boy names. Also would love the Christmas/winter list. Not that i need any names but i love to see them
It's so interesting to hear which names are popular or rare in other parts of the world. Being part of a religious community all the "rare" Hebrew/Biblical boy names are very common... Josiah, Hezekiah, Jacob, Reuben, Ezra, Levi, Isaac, Shiloh, Ephraim, Abraham(Abe), Isaiah, Elijah, Elisha, etc. Love following your videos SJ! Love from Canada
I taught an Elias pronounced ee-lee-ass. Their family was from Somalia. Also taught a Musa and a Yahya! Think this name list shows how multi cultural we are in the U.K. now and I love it
Elias Musa Jax Jason Ruben Kevin Vincent Zakariya Rex Rocco Archer Abel Yahya Lorenzo Rafael Xavier Cody Isaiah Vinnie Matteo / Mateo River Beau Phoenix Bodhi Asher Marley Remy Zion Axel Kobe
Proud mama to a Xavier Cole here ☺️💙 now 18 months old…we love the ‘bright, splendid’ part of his name meaning - plus it just sounds super cool and isn’t toooo common (yet 🥴)
Hello everyone! I'm due with baby number 2 in the next month. It's a boy and we are wanting something gaelic/ Celtic but also something you don't hear all the time. We're down to 2 names- Euan/ Ewan, or Lorcan. Hubby loves Lorcan but it might be a bit too out there for me and I think it sounds a bit sci-fi. Thoughts? Our first son is Alasdair (gaelic version of Alastair). I thought it was unique and traditional without being too weird, yet people seem to struggle with the name.
I like Lorcan it reminds me of Lycan. Depends on where you are for the spelling of the nam name Euan/Ewan. I do like it though. I foresee pronunciation and spelling errors if you have them with Alasdair. Even my phone wanted to change it to Alastair. I’m not a name expert and prefer something different even if it does cause confusion
I wonder if Vinny with a y is traditionally the short form for Vincent, I only suggest this as you're saying that Vinnie with an ie is likely to be the short form for Alvin as it's meaning seems to be elf
There’s a Netflix programme called fate and there’s a girl on there called musa, they also have a terra, river and lots more, I’ve put a lot of those names on my list x
40 weeks 2 days pg here and just (not very patiently) waiting lol. Elias is a top middle spot choice for us. Vincent is one of my cousins, but I do love the name. I like Rex but I really don't think I'm brave enough to actually use it lol. I like Asher as well.
I love Rafael and always thought it was a fresh and interesting alternative to Gabriel ! I still love it and its' meaning! I also love Isaiah( the name of one of my darling nephews), and Abel, Elias, Asher and Archer.I also love Marley for a boy or girl.
I've got 2 boys. Their names are Felix & Neo, don't know of anyone with the name Neo. i've had so many positive comments on his name and i've never seen it on one of your videos. I love it sooooo much xx
Much love to you and your family, SJ. ❤ I'd love to see videos based on the American stats, along with any autumn or winter lists you feel inspired to do. From this one, I love Archer and Remy.
I have watched your nameslists and loved your videos while I was pregnant. Two weeks ago I gave birth yo my son Odin! I just lovr mythological names, but apart from that it just was the name for us! And we get a lot of compliments from people that they love the name! And wonder where wr got it from. I remember that it was in your lists and the name came back in other name lists as well!
i love seeing these lists!! but hate seeing the names on my list that i thought were ‘rare’ rising🥲😂 i’m sure my mind will change many more times before i’d have to pick though! thank you for doing so much research on the trends!!X
Same, I have a two year old Elias, a 6 year old Ayden, which didn’t seem popular when we were making him. Pregnant with baby boy 3, it’s a challenge to find a name, out of so man names my husband and I are down to three and one was on this list.
Elias Archer is going to be my son’s name! ❤️ I love Elias soooo much. I’ve never met an Elias here where I live in the US. We chose Elias to honor my partner, as his middle name is Eli. And Archer is to honor my grandfather, who has made bows and arrows by hand for as long as I can remember and is always outside using them. 🥰
Elias has been one of my favourites for so long its gorgeous ! Raphael is such a cute name. river (for a boy) has been on my list for ages i think its so cute for a wee son
My little boy is called Casper and he suits it so much. Big blue eyes and a head full of white hair 😍 so many people comment on how much he suits his name!
Love watching your videos Sophie! I can't get over how well Casper suits your little boy! We just had a baby boy 3 weeks ago and names him Raphael (hope it suits as well as Casper's name suits him!!)
Can you please do sunset names. I recently lost one of my twins in the womb. Would love a unisex name as we didn’t know the gender. Would really mean a lot. Thank you
Does anyone have middle name suggestions? I'm currently considering Griffin, last name Swooper but am a bit stuck on a middle name as there seems to be quite a few strong consonant sounds already.
my brother's name is river & my sister's name is phoenix, i have only met one other person with either of their names! so interesting to see them rise in popularity
I'm past being able to have babies being more of a grandmother's age, but I still like looking up names. The book I most like was published in 1946 and has had several reprints over the decades. It is called The Oxford Dictionary of English Christian Names. Maybe you have heard of it already, but what I like about it the most is that it shows the other spellings of names going as far back as the 13th century. I got it out of the library yesterday and pulled out two names I like that I haven't heard suggest: Eudo and Rosamund. The first because I first read it in one of Ellis Peters' Brother Cadfael novels. The second because I like the S being pronounced like a Z. Also some advice. Before you suggest a name, look at the way it can be played with by children who will find any way to tease a kid if they can. Example Solomon: Poor Solomon Grundy, washed his face on Monday etc. etc. Kids who remember their nursery rhymes will latch on to it immediately.
I had picked out Remy for a boy back when it was ranked 700- something. I had a daughter first so I didn't use it. Now I'm having twin boys and it's getting super popular! I know it's not the most important thing ever, and I still love and will use the name. It's just a bummer lol
Love all these names, but little mistake there, Ezra means helper, coming from the Hebrew word Azra meaning help and the Hebrew name Asa, means healer or doctor.
My 1yo is Beauden, I always loved beau from dukes of Hazzard growing up. And Beauden is the name of a famous rugby player from our small town (I found this out after the fact). I have another boy, Sage.
Had our 2nd this morning!
Baby Oliver Emerson Randall McLeod
congratulations! beautiful name! hope you and baby are doing well

Oh yes!! I’ll do that as a year round up! If I can get the Australian stats! Xx
@@SJ_Strum the McCrindle report is the best for AU stats 🙂
Yes please! I’m Aussie and some of the things I hear you say SJ just don’t apply to Australia - maybe we’re a bit weirder down here or something? Haha
The New Zealand stats have a whole spreadsheet available since 1950s! Super interesting to look through 😊

Yes I will do! There’s 3 on my channel already! Xxz

Ay me and my twin's birthday is the 23rd. Great birthday! Unless it's on Easter
Omg congratulations that’s wonderful 💕
That’s my birthday! Good luck on your name hunt! Boy names are way harder than girl I feel!
Love the name Otto. I think Jax & Jaxson are so going to be remembered as 2020s names just like the many Matthews from the 1970s & 80s.
Otto was rising so fast too! It was just outside the top 200 so I left it out but it’s huge! Xxx
Just named my son Otto last year, a very sweet name indeed! Met another woman in my town who almost named her son the same- born within a week of my son!
And yes, please do this for the American lists!
I have a Phoenix 🧡 We already loved the name, and then when he was born with red hair (and a fiery personality!) we knew it was meant to be.
Lovely jumper this week SJ looking flawless as always.
Great name list too!! I've always loved Beau/Bo
