  • I've been experimenting with Carnivore Carbs. Carbohydrates, especially with working out have been instrumental in my ability to build muscle.
    Organic sweet potatoes could be one of the best options. Here's my favorite recipe, check it out and learn more.

    Why dont you peel them tho? aint there loads of toxin/anti nutrients in the skin?

      Good advice, going to move to remove them in future batches! This is why I love you all and appreciate your feedback so much.😍

      This is the comment I came here for! Was wondering what the carnivore opinion on potato skins was! Of course there is mainstream info saying the skin is where the nutrition is.🤔 There aren't many videos on the details of how people that add potatoes in on carnivore actually fix them.

    I'm so confused 😕 'Carnivore Carbs'... An Oxymoron? Did I miss something? Why is it now suddenly ok to just add carbs??? 🤔

      Carbs have made a major difference in my ability to put on muscle mass. Studying a lot of the body building community and having goals to gain 10-14lbs of muscle over the past 6 months almost all are on a macro of 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fat. Keto is great for leaning down and cycling but I found my electrolytes and gym performance were both low when on a strict carnivore keto diet. I usually add 3 tblspns of honey then on heavy lifting days (3x/week) I'm adding the sweet taters w/ the honey to add more carbs pre/post workout.

    Dude you ain't a carnivore. You are an omnivore.

    I seem to tolerate honey extremely well for a carb, but I also rarely go over a tablespoon. So maybe it's the dose that makes the poison. Generally have it before the gym and notice an extra umph. The last time I tried a sweet potato (was several months into carnivore), I think I ate one whole one, microwaved, prob with butter. It made me feel horrrible. Hours of gas, itchiness, phlegm, less focus, fatigue, sniffling immediately, subtle joint discomfort. Was not at all worth it. Maybe some of it was psychosomatic or just cause I hadn't had a large carb bolus in so long.

      I noticed the same issue. I'd cut back for the first 1-2 weeks, let your microbiome adjust but keep giving yourself a smaller amount. I felt em and I felt real heavy and bloated when I first re-introduced them (they've got some fiber, we're not used to) but they are one of the best non-carnivore carbs, aside from honey w/ a lower cost and glycemic index. So I'm mixing them in to try and get my carbs up for improving muscle grow and recovery.
      Long story short, go lighter on the dose for 7-10 days until you're gut bacteria grows to handle them, then you might be able to up the load w/out feeling them as heavy and bloated.

      Yes, but ONLY if I do too many in my mornings. Then I have a crash - sweet spot for me at 160lbs is ~ 2.5 tbspn if I go too much more in my breakfast I will start to feel a crash depending on how much more I eat.

      6mg every morning with my breakfast - I'm 2 meals a day, usually wake ~ 9am, eat 12:30pm. Then dinner ~ 630-7pm.

    Temp and duration of cooking?

    • @kurtyaz
      @kurtyaz  3 роки тому +1

      400F, 1:10 roughly, depending on how many potatoes are in the pyrex pan and how hot your oven cooks. Check em and grab one to feel if it's soft from the bake, if not bake for another 15-20 mins at the same temp and re-check till you find your timing.

    Carnivore carbs would be milk and yoghurt.🌞😉 Maybe honey if you really stretch the definition of carnivore. Why on earth do you call sweet potatoes "carnivore carbs"? I'm eating carbs aswell on my animal based diet, but I don't call my diet carnivore bcs it just isn't a carnivore diet. If you are adding fruits, veggies, honey to your carnivore diet...it's not the carnivore diet, it's an animal based diet. Sweet potatoes and cinnamon are high in oxalate aswell, better keep it to a minimum.

    • @kurtyaz
      @kurtyaz  Рік тому

      Are you sure the inside of baked sweet potatoes are high in oxalates? From what I've read if you skin them and eat the meat, you're drastically at a lower dose of Oxalates. Thx for the comment Cammi!

    • @cammieklund
      @cammieklund Рік тому

      @@kurtyaz Yes, they are still high oxalate, but if you don't eat other high oxalate foods, you might get away with it as long as you are not eating lots of them.😊 It's all about the total amounts. And maybe some varieties have less?

    Epic amounts of lectins in sweet potato skins.. like astronomical ;)

    • @uelude
      @uelude 3 роки тому +1

      You'll do your body and mind an epic favor by peeling them. Also make sure not to heat the oil too high as that's really bad for inflammation. 3rd trick (diff meal tho) bake the whole peeled sweet potatoes, let them go cold and either eat or reheat (extra point for going fold a second time and reheating). Lower lectins, extra healthy resistant starches.
      Avoid stomach ache, brain fog, and systemic inflammation :)

      Def post is better from what we see in the science of elevating insulin after your muscles are depleted from the lifts. That said, there's also some effect I'm noticing pre, if I've been low carb days leading up to a heavy lift where I don't have as much "juice" 40+ mins into the lifting session where I think I notice having carbs w/ my morning meal also helps to prepare my body to handle the physical demands.
