Thanks for having me on! Results over dogma, and experimentation is valuable. Don't eat rice or potatoes now but the experiment was worth it.
Absolutely mind blowing discussion. So informative and true food for thought.
Thank you for all you do guys. Awesome to see my favorite fighting duo choping it up. Love from Florida.
You don't even allow the gut flora to adapt to carb sources (each plant has specific fibers requiring specific bacterial species) and jump to talking about heavy metals, geeze... Plants generally help the liver to detox heavy metals, starting from supporting glutathione, binding to silica that is in all plant cell membranes etc - hardly ever a problem (sure, the risks are minimized even further when mixing up the agricultural areas our crops come from).
Don't play a dumb here. You butcherbox salesman.
You sound hard of breathing and look weird.
Having trouble breathing?
I love how Paul validates individuals experience. My husband is an ER doctor and always told me that my observations about my health or my son's health were just an N of 1, not scientific and not valid. Years later we no longer argue about this. I think each person has to do their own research on their own body. Sometimes I do fine with dairy, during allergy season I may need to cut out dairy.... everything is always changing and we must be in tune with our own bodies.
My allergic response is seasonally affected, also.
Your husband is brainwashed by academy. Standard.
Maybe if you stayed away from dairy altogether you wouldn't be affected by the allergy season!!
I removed dairy after noticing bad allergies and have been doing much better without it.@@leonflores2933
Who cares if your experience isn't statistically significant?? When only one out of 100 people suffers from a certain problem, it still 100% affects that person and it is no comfort to them how unusual they are
Vegetarian for 23 years, IBS all those years, carnivore for a few months, IBS free.

I ate only fruit & vegetables & did have IBS. If you are saying IBS doesn't exist eating only fruit & vegetables you are wrong.

Great conversation I am glad Paul isn’t so dogmatic with his eating practices. People need this type of messaging so they understand there are many ways to get to and maintain optimal health.
I agree completely. individuality when it comes to dieting is important. there is a lot of biased people out there that thinks one way of eating should be the only way.
@@Alyssa501 I think some look at animals, saying they do not have different diets. which is correct.
Paul is not saying to add rice and potatoes to your carnivore diet, he is saying what he tries. Don't hate the man for trying to make himself feel good. We are all so different and all he is saying it to try different things. I am happy to know every new word people like him have to say. We should all be open to info about improving our health. Just experiment on your own body to try to get the best results. Keep up the good work Dr!!
I hear what you are saying, and of course youre right that its good to be able to change your mind and be flexible about something you used to think, but in the end he has not told us something we dont know. Anyone can try different things to see what works for them. I dont need a guy who made money off of books and being a minor celebrity to tell me its all up to me to figure it out. What do we need someone like him for then?
He didn't add them either. He tried them separately, was unwell to both, went back to eliminating them.
He’s in very good shape and does a lot of exercise. What works for him very likely will not work for others unless they’re just like him.
more reason not listen to these diet hacks. just eat a balanced diet and exercise
I think people are hating grifters who write books for a quick buck on something rapidly gaining popularity and then contradict themselves a few months later.
If you're going to put your name to a book about something you should probably be more confident in what you're writing about.
Whatever you do, do not clip this video. Thomas asked some good questions in here and they covered fit people, fat people, healthy, unhealthy, and the nuisance agree and disagreements. Ya gotta here the totality of the conversation to really get an understanding. Really good 👍 conversation today. 👌
I've always loved Paul Saladino's enthusiasm, his life is nothing like mine. But his enthusiasm is contagious and charming. 😊
Yea its called scamming people for millions of dollars
Yeah, MOST con artists are extremely 'enthusiastic' and charming.
haha dude is a grifter... Go back and watch his early carnivore video's... talks about how amazing it is..... later he's adding fruit... it's amazing... Oh now some rice and potatoes... Dude just as candy bars next.
Paul is a vegan who eats animal products. Two sides of the same coin.
After ten months of 95% carnivore (meat, celery, tomatoes) with high fat I was feeling extremely healthy. I do think that's when my hole system got "reset". I definitely felt like that at the time. I had healed a long list of very specific afflictions in my body. But quite suddenly and soon after feeling my very best, I began to realized carnivore was no longer working in the same way. Upon arising I soon felt like I was having sugar letdowns and I was feeling sort of worn out. I also was not sleeping well. (I'm 78) So for another two months I went on 100% carnivore but the feelings of sugar letdown did not subside and my sluggish feeling got even worse. I consequently did a week of Lion diet but it did not change anything.
I started looking for alternatives and came upon possible cortisol overdose from trying to make my own glucose. At that time I also read the book "Life without bread" which does suggest to keep some carbs in the diet. So I introduced low carbs again in the form of pear butter (self canned - no sugar) in a cup of yogurt, plus the celery and tomatoes, and it did eliminate the sugar letdown. I've been doing that now for three weeks and am feeling somewhat stronger again. I eat the yogurt as a dessert after the protein and fat and I eat an apple before going to bed. I am for sure an N=1 experiment. Still learning!
Guess I am trying to say, if someone does not feel quite right after being carnivore, rethink your strategy. Don't just follow someone. Chart your own course.
We needs carbs
Adrenaline would most likely be working overtime with no carbs and just meat
your pretty much eating PE diet style
The book Life Without Bread has lots of good information. I also felt better with adding in some carbs, mostly whole fruit.
There are days where I feel my body cannot make enough calories from beef and fats (I add tons of fats), get tired and even get light headed.
If it works for him, more power to the guy. He was a driving force in the early days for me converting from keto to keto-vore which has saved my life.
What is the difference between keto and ketovore?
@@asdf1991asdf keto includes plants, ketovore is high fat carnivore
@@asdf1991asdf the difference is how much more quickly the saturated fats in the ketovore diet will give you a heart attack...it is much more efficient at that 😂😂
@mikepetrilli4686, Nice myth you’ve repeated there. Saturated fat is a species appropriate food source for humans. Our ancestors have been consuming it and thriving since long before recorded history.
@@mikepetrilli4686 Saturated fats don't oxidize in the way non saturated fats do. How exactly do non oxidizing fats set up the oxidative stresses that contribute to heart attacks amongst other things? Your great grandmother didn't get diabetes but she probably was eating tallow, lard and butter, because margarine didn't exist.
Rice and potatos (and bread) are kryptonite to my body. I wish i found out back then as teenager.
I found out in the second week of carnivore that mashed potatoes make me fart! No more potatoes!
Protein also, the nitrogen molecule is broken off during digestion. Flatulence is not necessarily bad..
Same here I was 315 pounds eating all that carbs and sugar. Now I'm down to 230 and still going!
Eat organic brown rice and bread. Its way more healthier.
Way healthier. Not way MORE healthier
Thomas and Paul. Birds of a feather. They THINK for themselves. We need more of that guys. The Tube and Net is over stocked with selfmade fitness fanatics. Keep it up gents. Develop, collaborate, evolve and remain open.
Both shills flip flopping from diet to diet while making money
What does it really matter if Paul changes his mind? There’s no one particular diet that works for everyone. You gotta find what works for you. Changing one’s mind means that you are willing to learn and experiment.
How does that work, evolutionarily?
That cute. Carnivore is the only diet that humans can thrive on.
@@AsAWhiteManMarriedToALatina not if your exercising a lot, i need carbs, I tried carnivore for months and my sleep went down the drain, carnivore is fantastic in losing weight and healing certain conditions but for me it wasn’t great cause I wasn’t overweight and didn’t have any illness.

There's nothing wrong with experimenting especially when you are being careful and deliberate. Makes sense for Saladino as well since he already made himself as healthy as he could first.
I was eating rice for years, after eating it I would crave sugar. Now I've been off of rice for over 2 months and I have zero sugar cravings.
Interesting--something to pay attention to the next time I eat rice!
Exact same for me dude. As soon as I have rice, I start to immediately crave sugar and carbs. It is directly connected to the rice.
lol complete bs..yall overthink this diet thing bro you crave sugar? Just eat some fruit i dont really get what your even saying
I eat rice together with meat, vegetables and other high fiber foods and I don't crave sugars/sweets. My inlaws who rarely eats rice constantly have breads, cakes, sodas and candies. I am trim and they're obese.
Rice gives me a blood sugar crash even when paired with protein/fat. That includes supposedly lower glycemic types such as jasmine or basmati. Once in a great while I have some in the form of sushi after exercise. Using a CGM helped me see how my body responds to rice confirming what I was feeling. N=1.
This is Paul at his best. Having convictions based on the literature and his own anecdotal experiences, plus not being dogmatic and keeping an open mind.
thank you! Paul testing things and pivoting based off the results is literally how science is supposed to work. Everyone on this thread bashing him for changing his mind on things is so low IQ I cant stand it.
He WAS very dogmatic for a loooong time :) and narrow-minded. And he still is, just the level has changed.
I’m not bashing him for changing his mind, and tbh the only thing he’s good at is ignoring and or not reading the literature that doesn’t support what he already believes.

Can't out run a bad diet
I’ve been on Paul’s diet for about 62 days now. Around day 55 I went on vacation to the lake. On the way home I stopped by my favorite Mexican restaurant. I figured I would splurge after 55 days. I noticed everything tasted really great. 🤣 A couple other things I noticed were that I felt very sleepy afterwards, and of course, bloated. I thought I was gonna feel so bloated and miserable, but to be honest, it went away fairly quickly. I thought for sure that my stomach was gonna get messed up, because I ate chips and hot sauce, cheese enchiladas with gravy, rice and beans, and also cheese dip, and probably 100 tortilla chips. I couldn’t believe that it didn’t even mess my stomach up. I’ve been back on the diet since and feeling pretty good.
This is one of the BEST videos/interviews I have ever watched. I was FULLY engaged and understanding everything, thanks to your previous videos, Thomas!
Thanks guys for a great conversation. Its nice to hear voices of reason open to options and not just one mind set.
I can appreciate that Paul is not being perfect or religious about his diet. I too, would like to eat certain carbs because I like them and they agree with me. It's training ourselves to eat according to our energy needs on certain days. We're all different, let's not attack someone who is willing to experiment and share. Thanks for a great interview you guys.
This was a really good interview, thanks for sharing.
I can accept his personal experiences with retrying rice and potatoes. What I think he might be missing is that these types of carbs have been absent from his diet for a very long time. The gut is a complex thing. Reintroducing a food item that has been long absent from a diet is not going to be initially welcomed by the microbiome. The impression he gives is that he didn’t try reintroducing these foods over a longer period of time - more like one serving then look for changes. He also tends to hyper-focus on issues within issues, in this case with arsenic, etc., and that people consuming certain foodstuffs that are hyper-absorbers should get tested. Some of the longest lived populations consume these hyper-absorbers on a daily basis. Again - totally accept his experience. But the “forest from the trees” often comes to mind with anyone who tends to be at the extremes of research.
He also Introdeuced too much rice and potatoes to start, I would of started with 50-100 grams of rice once a day to let his gut learn how to process it again. He is so hyper focused on the chemical compounds of the food he is over looking the basics.
@@outdoor-explorerhe also discussed how much processing he performed in prepping the rice in order to mitigate any potential toxins. Nobody I know does all of this with that intent nor to those lengths for any reason. Regardless of what is in the rice, I think what is critical is how the body metabolizes it and if humans have the ability to deal with the intro of potential toxins. One can’t accept metabolism without also accepting other processes of the body. Arsenic is common and has about a 10 hour half-life in the body, eventually eliminating it within days. The body eliminates it through filter organs, lymph and blood vessels where it eventually leaves through sweat, urine and defecation and is gone within days. Fiber is also critical in removing toxins from the body. Until he started reintroducing some produce back into his diet, practically zero fiber in his nutrients. The body is in essence constantly removing and eliminating toxins from the body as part of our natural processes. As arsenic enters, the body deals with it. Obviously, it’s a matter of dosage. I’ve personally drastically reduced rice/grain consumption - not because of potential arsenic or mold issues - just trying to corral my total carb intake due to both of my parents having insulin resistance issues.
His video shorts would often show up on my feeds where he rails against just about every food item and concludes that his compact list of foods is the way to go. I haven’t seen them lately - hoping this is because he’s starting to loosen up on the dogma and being a little more accepting of the broader science. I can agree with his general philosophy, mainly the less processed, the better. But he seems to have an affinity with extremism - I think by his personal nature - as is exemplified by his extremes in diet and refusal to accept other views. He did swing from extreme raw veganism to carnivore. The pendulum can’t swing any further than that.
you're being very generous calling his bullshit "research".
Interesting point. Dairy milk has a similar effect for me. The longer times between consumption upsets my stomach/gut. After a few days on, I no longer feel the discomfort.
After trying fruit, potatoes, and rice, my gut exploded. Look 6 months pregnant all the time. I LOVED the food, but my gut couldn't handle it. Back to eating ground beef. EDIT: I'm back eating carbs, because the Carnivore Diet gave me serious insomnia. That can't be healthy. I'll just eat air. Thanks.
It could be your gut microbiome is not adapted to eating carbs too, if you've been eating a certain way for a long time.
Leaky gut.
Maybe try fruit without the potatoes and rice. My gut is fine with fruits. I mainly just eat ground beef too but fruit seem to be fine.
Dude. That HAPPENS when you’ve ONLY been carnivore because your digestive juices have changed to prioritize MEAT. You *have to* slowly titrate up on ANY change you make.
This happens to me too, and I was leaning towards it being a carbs I ate for dinner. Literally looks like I’m pregnant. I was heavily fat/meat based prior to incorporating the carbs into my diet at dinner time. Don’t know what direction to move in now.
This was a great interview. Watched the entire video in one sitting. Very thought provoking.
This was so interesting! Thanks to both of you!
There is a study done in University of Sheffield on the way you cook white rice in a lot of water will actually reduce arsenic significantly (74%) to the point that it is negligible. Pretty much boil a lot of water (7-8” above the rice) for 5-7 minutes (depends, for basmati it’s around 7 min), then drain then put it back in the pot in the lowest heat possible to absorb the water. This is called parboiling with absorption method. It’s how my mom taught me to cook rice and back home we used to eat white basmati rice literally everyday as the main carb source for our main meal.
His time hiking the Pacific Coast Trail from Mexico to Canada is amazing…he’s always been healthy and athletic…it’ll be interesting how adding different foods affect his autoimmune problems

Listening to Paul a few years ago on another pod cast really opened my eyes to start paying attention to what I eat and how it makes me feel. I will forever be thankful for that wake up. I don't do carnivore but I did lose 35kg using Keto. I will say Paul doesn't look healthy anymore. But if he feels great then all power to him. Thanks for your hard work so others don't have start from scratch.
So awesome to see a bit of disagreement with respect to each other. Thanks for sharing
Saladino and thomas should have these interviews/ debates regularly. This was great!
I love your message. What works for some people may not work for others. I went down a similar path of going from vegetarian to paleo to keto and now I'd say I am animal based. I feel best with minimal plants in my life. I don't think everyone needs to live this way. My goal is simply to optimize how I feel and to live my best life for myself, my family and my clients. Thanks for the great content.
I do chicken breast, beef liver, sardines, eggs, camel, goat, dairy like yogurt, goat cheese, goat milk, some veges and fruits (red bell pepper, orange, kiwi, berries, abit of avocado, steamed broccoli, abit of onion, garlic, lemon juice and hot pepper for flavor), seeds (flax, pumpkin and sunflower), nutritional yeast, for oils/fats I use ghee, tallow, butter and extra virgin olive oil, and for carbs I do basmati rice, a small sweet potato daily, and some pita bread once or twice a week. Raw honey or coconut sugar as my sweetener. That’s really all I eat.

Eating high quality food and avoid foods that make you feel not good will start fixing your metabolism, and you will get to the point where that high quality food will give you energy that will MAKE YOU WANT to move more. Really appreciate Dr. Saladino's willingness to experiment and challenge preconceived notions! It's refreshing to see a scientific approach to nutrition, where new information and personal experiences can influence dietary strategies.
It's interesting to see some people critique incorporating carbs back into the diet, while similar scrutiny often doesn't apply to including other macros without strong scientific backing. A truly evidence-based approach considers all options!
In my own experience, incorporating a variety of carbohydrates like melons, dates, and kiwis, along with water-rich "fruit-vegetables" such as cucumbers and squash, seem to aid digestion due to their enzymatic activity and high water content.

Hey Paul, please don't stop what you're doing...I love it!!!
I did carnivore for a while but i just have better workouts with some carbs but I don't think my body can handle many due to some pre-diabetes issues. I can see the issues with a cgm. Sometimes my blood sugar goes up to 400+ after a meal with carbs and sometimes it goes down to the 40s. Both are considered medical emergencies.
It wasn't whole food carbs that got you to be prediabetic, so just don't continue what you did to get there.
I wear a CGM. I’m 60 but wearing it to experiment. I stay within 5 lbs of my ideal body weight. If I eat a few pieces of fruit, my blood glucose stays over 100 for a few DAYS!!!!
Same thing with a few carbs during holidays. Every person is an individual. People who blindly follow Paul could really be hurting themselves metabolically. I have a handicapped adult son. He stays up till 4 in the morning.
I’m tired because of lack of sleep. Not all of us have the luxury of sleeping when we want😡
He’s really annoying me by saying… by the way, if you are tired, you are not making energy correctly. Arrogant A_S!
@@melissal3383 Lack of sleep can make you insulin resistant, did you know that? Healthy people really aren't very different from each other, it's just that a lot of people are sick and have different diseases, or different degrees of severity. Healthy people are very similar to each other and don't need completely different diets.
so can a lot of saturated fat. If you are real low carb and high saturated fat you will see big spike in blood glucose with fruit or high carb meal. If you go super low saturated fat and high carb, initially one will typically have a big spike in blood glucose. But as your pancreas cranks up insulin again and cells receptors open up shop for glucose, like I experienced, those spikes of 150-180 that I had all the sudden are cut down to 120 and fasting glucose drops in the 70s and 80s. Key is eating the higher carb meals alongside lower fat. And keeping those sources of fat unsaturated. I went from insulin resistant to hyper-insulin sensitivity doing this a year ago. Now eat nuts and seeds as snacks alone. Big plates of veggies and legumes as main carbs sources. Oatmeal and low fat yogurt for breakfast. Protein-frozen blueberry shakes to hit protein goals. 10 hours of surfing a week or mountain biking. Sunset walks after dinner.
@@carinaekstrom1
@@RobCGilliam Sounds like you are doing good. Personally I have never worried about how I mix carbs and fats, but I have never been insulin resistant. I have been a vegetarian since I was 11years old (I'm 65 now) and a vegan the last 13 years. Not especially low fat, but staying slim and healthy.

This is spooky! I am a crohns sufferer and having been doing carnivore for about 18 months to get off adaminulab…successfully. However due to various occasions I ended up having a “cheat meal” such as Indian or Chinese takeaway and felt terrible after it! Decided to have pasta for the first time in 2 years and felt fine. So out of curiosity I decided to chance it again and had an Indian takeaway again. The same dish minus the rice, plus a spicy (not normally me) side and I felt fine, literally no noticeable issues. Still mostly carnivore however have been slowly reintroducing some things occasionally (currently oats) to see if an autoimmune reaction. So far so good.
Fruit juice the problem is concentration and the ease of overdoing liquids. Also activity level.
Agree on the food quality and fixing that will help you want to work out. I've been someone that enjoys going to the gym and being active but the past few years I have had no desire or motivation. I've revamped my diet the past 3 months and desire to work out has returned and I enjoy it vs before never wanting to go and if I forced it did not enjoy.
This was a great video. I’m like Dr. Paul, I just can’t eat Rice and Potatoes anymore. I’m pretty much 100% carnivore.
They kinda said this in a roundabout way but I think it’s safe to say that if you cut out the veggies and went to a more animal protein based lifestyle, your quality of life will almost 100% improve substantially. The opposite of that is people that incorporate vegetables either randomly or exclusively, they are more likely to have all kinds of issues with lack of minerals/vitamins, gut issues, inflammation issues, skin-hair issues, sleep issues…you could go on an on.
Why not go with a sure thing and just stop eating vegetables that have so many toxins and pesticides? All vegetables have some form of toxin/poison to protect themselves that over time is not good for us. We were not made to eat veggies anatomically.
I know about 10-15 vegans and all of them look really really bad. The only ones I’ve seen that can seem ok are the highly active people that exercise daily w/ resistance training but get their protein in w/ supplements, legumes, and some vegetables that have a little protein.
If you are a vegan and don’t exercise, I can almost guarantee you look terrible.
White Rice and potatoes are easy to digest for most people, just gotta earn your carbs folks. You know whats up
Because they easily convert to sugar, once eaten.
Which is then burned for energy and increases your metabolism. It’s the other way around. Eat carbs to have energy to move
Well with being active and him working out he felt full after eating potatoes how he felt so stuffed afterwards. He could possibly take what ben greenfield or Dave asprey about having carbs at night to help sleep
grain eaters idnt evolve in right direction lol it shrinks brain
@@canadianboymike8747 you are so right. i dont eat carbs because im carnivore and i currently can't move i need carbs to move 🤣🤣🤣
Our guts thrive on a diverse microbiome! Microdose carbs and get a good variety with smaller portions on the higher glycemic ones. Occasionally small amounts of bread, pasta, rice, potatos etc is good for us. The key is to eat like 1/4 to 1/2 of a full serving at the end of your meals. Don't overdo it. It keeps the pipes flowing if you know what i mean.
Fit and active people can, and probably should pad their calories with some starch imo.
This was a great one! Ive done well on keto IF... and have been preaching this to everyone lol. Good for me to stay open minded. And this just makes sense.
He looks always happy, why, surfing pretty simple can't be unhappy around the ocean
His first problem is likely fruit which is causing him to crave sugar/carbs. Potatoes are about the last thing you want because of the oxalates. The funny thing about oxalates is that you can't eat something and wait awhile to see how you feel (and then-if you're fine-assume that you are). Oxalate overload is an insidious condition where it takes years or even decades for certain problems to arise (as oxalate is formed and stored in the body in its crystalized form); but by that time you've already done the damage and have to deal with clearing to reduce the condition.
His second problem is not considering the work of the late Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer of German New Medicine fame. In other words, his problem may have been psychosomatic and had absolutely nothing to do with diet and exercise (or activity level).
Fantastic conversation, I'm subscribing
Great interview
It is not , One fit all
Find were you are at yourself and make the right decision.
Thank you guys
Excellent conversation - I think Paul is awesome- and I love his subtle pushback to Layne (who I like - but find way too high & mighty and always trying to prove how smart he is by pointing out he has a PhD - ughhhh - yes, WE KNOW LAYNE!!). Anyway, both you & Paul are so sweet & incredibly insightful and super smart!! As always, I'm locked into your channel, Thomas!! :)
what about grains? Since in U.S. so many are sprayed and GMO/
It's like you bith asked and answered you're own question about grains
Got what I needed to hear from this video. Thanks.
Great conversation gentlemen. So many thought provoking views to experiment with. This was exercise for the mind.
Blood sugar regulation improves with UV exposure so If you're active the closer you live to the equator the more you are able to handle a higher carb diet including fruits, grains etc.
Paul is really on to something guys, specially on this mitochondrial energy stuff 🌻
He’s a moron
Great conversation!
I just described this kind of experimentation yesterday to my adult daughter. I just ate an entire container of organic/ no additive dates yesterday as well. It’s a few times a year. My goal this week is to continue to prioritize maintaining/adding dietary items that support my body’s filtration systems.
Great discussion! I want to see the studies that have influenced Saladino on his seed oil perspective.
Paul is truly seeking truth, and doing what works for him.
That’s correct but everyone listening thinks he is god , don’t follow his diet unless your him
@@Kwildcat13 yep.. and he says that.
@@Kwildcat13highly doubt many think he is a god 😂 he is an interesting individual in the heal the community. He has figured out what works for him and is extremely healthy. Fruits and meat works very well for me. May not for you. He states multiple times that this is what works for HIMSELF.
Loved the discussion!
FWIW, I've been adding a small amoiunt of fermented vegetables (saukraut, sliced carrots, sliced cucumber) to have with my meat. It's going well and I don't feel bad and I haven't put any weight on as I would eating normal vegetables. The fermentation seems to do magic things in making the vegetables digestable and limitng the phytotoxins. I've read the nourishing traditions book, so this isn't a surprise to me, but it took finding cheap fermenting air locks on amazon (Jillmo brand) to make it work. Planning ahead is needed. It takes a week to ferment.
### Key Takeaways
1. **Individual Dietary Response**: Paul Saladino's experience highlights the importance of personal experimentation with diet. Adding rice and potatoes to his diet had negative effects, underlining that dietary responses are highly individual.
2. **Food Quality and Nutrient Density**: The quality of food, affected by factors such as the diet of animals and the soil plants are grown in, is crucial. Certain foods like rice and some vegetables can accumulate heavy metals, emphasizing the need for careful selection of food sources.
3. **Carbohydrates and Metabolic Health**: Contrary to some beliefs, carbohydrates per se do not cause insulin resistance or metabolic dysfunction. Problems arise from the consumption of processed foods and seed oils, not from moderate carbohydrate intake from natural sources like fruits and honey.
4. **Energy Production and Mitochondrial Function**: Metabolic dysfunction is linked to the body's inability to efficiently convert fuel to energy, influenced by factors like excess linoleic acid from seed oils and lipopolysaccharides from gut bacteria. These disrupt mitochondrial function and energy production.
5. **Calories and Energy Balance**: The traditional calorie-focused model of energy balance is overly simplistic. It fails to account for the complexities of food quality, individual metabolic differences, and the crucial role of mitochondrial health in energy metabolism.
6. **Longevity and Cellular Health**: Longevity is associated with a higher metabolic rate and the efficient functioning of mitochondria for energy production. Focus on maintaining healthy mitochondrial function may be more beneficial for longevity than calorie restriction.
I have found that dairy is not the problem, it is the proteins in most milk and the government cooking out all the enzymes. I have found raw goat milk to be very good (not cheap, but very good).
Great insight from Paul S. I also agree with the theories he's putting forth.
Paul is the man. Always looking to improve, dogma-free.
I’m going out on a limb, but is Paul living in Costa Rica? 😂
Do 10 push-ups every time he mentions it…you’ll be ripped by the end of the video.
I guess this could be a modern day version of playing “hi Bob“ 😅
That's like asking what university Andy Bernard went to
Costa Rica is a Blue Zone.
😂😂
😂
Much love Paul! I did keto, 100%plant based, Akins, carnivore, pescatarian and Mediterranean inspired. I love the Mediterranean- inspired diet the most. I am 100lbs down. I feel fit and healthy and my diet is balanced. People on the ends of the spectrum will learn that their diets are not sustainable long term. Be flexible because humans are omnivores. 🤍
I think fruits, grains, and starchy veggies is more than fine for a very active person. But for people who aren't super active, low carb diets will be better for them. I'm not a gym rat like Thomas and I don't surf 2-3 hours a day like Paul, so keto is better for me.
Consider eating 2 servings of brown rice with an equal portion of mixed veggies and one serving of legumes, and a tablespoon of avocado. See how you feel then, when the rice is within a balanced meal.
I love the humility of both Dr Paul Saladino and Thomas Lauer... especially as opposed to some phds out there. "Studies" are not the only data, can be influenced or compromised depending on the source of funding, Etc.
Find God, lift weights, eat real food, learn to communicate, read, make babies, keep the family unit strong!
i puked a little in my mouth
Yes ! Good clean living is the best for the body, plain and simple . 👏
@@georgwalt7978 must have been the soy you just ate...
I'm diabetic but my doctor doesn't know it. As long as my keto diet keeps my blood sugar down, why does she have to know?
I realize that when I'm even older it might show up anyway, but until then, I'm living my life!
more interviews with Paul please, one of the most interesting guys in the nutrition sphere
You appear to be winded Dr S.
Much love from Ga.
I did wonder about this, also.
He's talking a lot, and talking with enthusiasm. He's smiling the whole time... He is taking big breaths, getting lots of oxygen into his system, and he's probably feeling great during the conversation.
He doesn't seem winded from how I see him
I agree. He talks to fast. A lot of hand gestures too. And in that, i think that something is off. Like when i take a caffine pill i notice i have morenenergy levels and very talkative.
