I used to write on wattpad. But my favorite thing was, back in the day they had forums as well. And the forums had a text-based role-playing section (usually no one used dice, just wrote what they imagined) . I joined a "family" roleplay and made some characters, and that rp lasted like 10 years and over 3 or 4 times we had to switch sites for various reasons (mostly controlling parents reasons. Parents didnt like us talking to strangers online. Also wattpad for rid of forums so now our first few years of the roleplay is just gone 😭 😭 😭 )
It was just the 3 of us for the latter 2/3 ish of the years
Anyway long story short, the rp is over now (bc we literally just RAN OUT OF IDEAS for new plotlines lol) but we're still going on 13 years of being best friends! They're my longest-had friends :)
The two friends even got together, now they're engaged!
We even got to meet up a few times! Haven't flown up to see them in a few years due to covid tho. I miss them!
I wonder what I'll be at their wedding!
Our writing skills have all really improved over the years too! And to this day I still do text-based roleplays, just with other people. But none have ever given me this level of connection again.
And it's all fuckin thanks to meeting on silly wattpad forums
Edit: BTW we 3 were like... 9-12 yrs when we started out, and now we're all in our mid 20s!
These two helped me get through so much. My childhood was... Bad. But thanks to having their support, I made it through, and eventually as an adult finally got out of that bad situation. I never could have had the courage to escape if it wasn't for my friends supporting me throughout my whole childhood and even to this day. I wouldn't be who I am today. I made it through thanks to them. I'm who I am now thanks to them.
I hope that everyone can find people who can be there for them in the same way!
And aww thanks everyone for the likes ♥. My experience really shows that online friends can absolutely be real friends. Being over the internet doesn't make it any less real ☺
And don't worry, I'm sure I'll get to visit my friends this year or next. Worse comes to worst I'll take a train, seems safer covid-wise than a plane. And we're all 3 vaxxed up too!
My Wattpad community was never quite as rich, but I definitely wouldn't be where I was now in terms of writing ability if it wasn't for goofing around on there and writing Baby's First Fanfiction. And I've still got friends (or _A_ friend) from over half a decade ago that I originally met there, too.
It's hard to stomach the cringe sometimes- even in regards to my own memories- but the experience itself was probably one of my most important in regards to how it impacted my hobbies
@@savvyslick1812 the way to think about your past fanfics and writings is "did I enjoy myself? Did I have fun making this?". Like, I wrote a lot of LOLZ SO RANDUM stuff back in the day that I originally looked back on as cringe. But then I realized 1) it was harmless, and 2) I had fun doing it back then! And that's what's important. I had fun!

The idea that there are people who use it *only* for reading fics is insane to me
why did we change from bff to bsf? Are dudes that afraid to say bff? because that's how we've been saying best friend since 2000 at least (I know it means best friend forever but everyone just uses it for any best friend), Idk why we gotta change it. Like is bff too gay now because of the "forever" part? Most people just took that with a grain of salt and used bff for any best friend, not because they actually meant "best friend forever until the day I die I'm literally soul bonded to this person". Just funny to me that people felt the need to make a new best friend acronym. Boys, it's okay to just call him your bff, it won't make you gay I promise.
I still don't know what "BSF" stands for, "BFF" as "Best Friend Forever" makes sense..."BSF"...is that like, "Best Sriend Forever"?? "BeSt Friend"? God, that's stupid.

ok but seriously, as an adhd person I genuinely thought I was paying attention throughout K-12 except uhhhh I only realised in the fourth grade that sols were tests and not some fun thing we did once in awhile, in the fifth grade I finally noticed that the teacher was talking to the class but only stared at her for a second before going back into my own brain, in sixth it became clear that classwork is meant to be finished iN clAsS and not at home as I’d been doing for everything, and in seventh grade that teachers are actually the ones who’re supposed to be teaching you, not you yourself as I’d been doing all along.
