I feel like surely this product is designed to be hand held while in use. I noticed that the oscillating action was only happening at the handle when only being held by the mouth. That might explain why it "doesn't work" in this video, honestly. If held firm by the handle, the bristles would likely move more and clean better. Just a thought I had, using the most basic principles of physics and motion.

In theory this would be good for disabled people or people with depression, where the alternative is just not brushing at all. But the execution really doesn't seem very good. I feel like it shouldn't be advertised as an alternative to a regular toothbrush. It's not going to do a better job than an electric brush, so just advertise it for disabled people or people who have trouble getting their teeth brushed?
also don't make it so expensive?
I think that disability aids usually get more viable and less expensive the more widely applied they are, and when they're popularised to abled people as well the access to them is easier for disabled people. So maybe that's what they were going for, but even so I agree that it doesn't seem to hit the mark well enough
The issue is the fact that most things designed for disabled people aren't advertised to them. They probably do it because they want to reach a wider audience instead of actually helping people. I don't think they really care about who uses it as long as they get the money.
That's what I was thinking, but the price is outrageous and it doesn't get the back teeth. And I feel like the most important part is brushing your tongue.
@@siriloveyou2653 you're exactly right, disabled people have pointed this out for a while. In a rush to make money they end up advertising for a wider market at higher prices but in doing so they alienate the people the product was made for.
Caring for disabled people and prioritizing profit are two venn diagram circles that never intersect

For real!
Autobrush is a toothbrush that looks similar, but actually works. Its really good for people with limited mobility or sensory issues. Its pretty cheap for this type of brush too; its like $80 i think.
I have sensory issues and what you described intrigues me. Thanks for the info!
There's one called Sonic toothbrush also that I've personally tried and like as an autistic person with executive dysfunction.
yeah I actually have that one! can testify it's helped my teeth hygiene a lot (:
same ^^^ i LOVE my sonic brush and it has really helped my dental hygiene as well
What kind of sensory issues do people have with teeth? Is it the toothbrush? I have minor sensory issues, nothing that affects my life, but hadn’t heard of the teeth issue.
This type of toothbrush was originally designed for disabled adults/children to give them more independence! It's a lot easier, physically and mentally, to put this in your mouth than it is to actually brush manually :)
--
I want to clarify, I'm not defending this shitty company or the price tag, I'm commenting on the DESIGN of the toothbrush, which wasn't created by this company lol, seems like they've executed it poorly anyways 😆. This might work for some people and not for others, different strokes for different folks 🙌 Accessibility should not come with a high price tag. Anywayyssss, this video isn't that deep lol, happy pride month 🏳🌈

Thanks for putting this out
@@stickitydoodah Yeah, I'm physically disabled so I understand that lol, seeing something that would help you and then seeing the price tag 😭

Exactly what i was thinking! Maybe the toothpaste is still a problem especially if you have to squeeze with a lot of strenght and be somewhat pecise but idk what the solution to that would be. Could be cheaper tho...
As someone with a smallish mouth, I don’t think I could get this inside my mouth in the first place. Also, "people are born with 32 teeth" is false. It should be "Adults have 32 teeth on average”
well you're born with your teeth, they're just hiding. not always 32 tho.
I noticed they were wrong with the 32 teeth thing but they forgot you also have 20 baby teeth so you're actually born with up to 52 teeth XD

You can’t just leave us at this cliffhanger Anna
What happened??
Um what happend
Regenerate is so funny. They could've just put remineralize since that's what toothpaste is also supposed to help with and it sounds medical/sciency but here we are.
The joke is it’s fluoride-free so it doesn’t actually remineralise lol
@@ewagawthrop3674 ah of course it is
@@someonesomeone3729 I’ve done a brief glance at their active ingredient Nano-hydroxyapatite which actually is a good alternative to fluoride. Evidence suggests it is actually more effective so I guess I retract my previous comment whoopsie
@@ewagawthrop3674 oh well hey that’s pretty good! at least it’s a better substitute that’s kinda nice but still sad that you have to use so much of it 😒
so, i googled nano-hydroxyapatite and found this study - sounds like the toothpaste label took the words straight from it lmao
This study aims to critically summarize the literature about nano-hydroxyapatite. The purpose of this work is to analyze the benefits of using nano-hydroxyapatite in dentistry, especially for its preventive, restorative and regenerative applications.
My take as a dental nurse; this is a great product for those with mobility issues or who otherwise would not brush their teeth BUT it is visibly not better or safer(?) than a standard, round headed electric toothbrush. Now, my major issues with this company start with their “clinical proof” they do not actually provide any link to the alleged study, nor do they state anything regarding a sample size so major red flag. Then I was concerned over their toothpaste as I had a feeling that a gimmicky company like this would claim fluoride-free is best. And surprise, surprise indeed they did. In the case of the amount of toothpaste you would have to use with this product I was worried that a standard (in the UK) 1450ppm would be too high, but omitting fluoride altogether is a far greater problem. There is a lot of fearmongering regarding fluoride, but it is a super important ingredient for reducing tooth decay.
Overall, as I’m sure we have all gathered already, if you are able to use a standard Roundhead electric toothbrush for a minimum of 2 mins (ideally longer) with proper technique and fluoride toothpaste twice a day, I would strongly urge you to do so over any other gimmicks on the market. For more info visit your local DCP today :)
Actually they use nano-hydroxyapatite which is a good alternative to fluoride so nvm. Toothpaste good (although contains so xylitol so some people might have troubles with it). toothbrush generally not ideal.
@rambunctiousvegetable having a gander at their website I’d say they seem more legit- from the price point, actually linking a study (albeit with a small sample size) and highlighting its use is best for those who struggle with a standard brush. I will say that their toothpaste does not contain fluoride nor can I see a suitable alternative. Their argument for this is that there is enough fluoride in your tap water but that is not necessarily the case- I would check with your local authority about whether or not this is done before stopping using a fluoride toothpaste. I know it is a common practice in various areas in the US, but for example where I live (UK) it is not common at all and you definitely need a fluoride toothpaste containing 1450ppm.
Also don’t use their whitening toothpaste- as far as I can see it is reliant on citric acid on actually ‘whitening’. This is not real whitening and will after prolonged use result in enamel erosion. If you want to whiten your teeth consult your dentist. Not sure how it is elsewhere but in the UK legitimate whitening can only be done via a dentists prescription.
I have Lupus w Raynauds and Sjörns so cleaning my mouth is super important but idk if I cld use the mobility brush because I have to clean my tongue. I take a lot of meds and and still tapering off cancer meds and I have to use the mouth wash that mimics saliva (idk what its called). I've already have had 6 teeth replaced 😭
Coffeezilla actually reviewed the original company that went bankrupt in the process of creating this.
I'm so bummed that it's fairly useless- I've got depression and struggle with brushing my teeth consistently- but this looks like a garbage vibration stick for your gums
Same. It's hard getting back into brushing after not bc of the gum pain.
@@roibenr I have a hard time getting myself to brush my teeth too and I’ve gotten better but my mouth always bleeds now
Hi everyone! I’m a depressed gal and former dental assistant, when you’re getting back into brushing your teeth, make sure you have a toothbrush with extra soft bristles, run the toothbrush under warm water to soften them even more before you start, and be gentle. You can also do a Peroxyl rinse, it’s a mouthwash that calms irritation and has a very light mint flavor. To start you can even dilute it with a little water. If your gums are bleeding, just be gentle and consistent and your gums will calm down eventually. Also! Do remember to go to your regular cleanings at the dentist, tell them what’s going on and they will be able to accommodate you and give some more advice. If your dentist/hygienist is weird or unhelpful, they can go to hell and you go to a different dentist!
@@zippityzoop1478 That happened to me once i started crawling out of my deep depression. My gums were getting inflammed and would bleed any time i flossed or brushed but after a couple weeks of doing it everyday it went away :)
It literally takes 2 minutes
I love how drew will just say anything without hesitation

If yall want an actually good toothbrush, I wanna tell ya about Colgate's Hum brush! (this is not in any way sponsored, I just really find the brush helpful. My teeth feel so fucking much cleaner)
So the brush has 2 settings. I think one is for "sensitive" and one is for like, a deeper clean? Idfk I just use whatever one it defaults to when I turn it on lol.
Anyway my favorite thing is that the brush connects to an app, that visually guides you on if you're holding your brush at the right spots, the right angle, brushing at the right speed, and brushing each section long enough, as you brush! It feels so nice watching the coverage percentages go up and then seeing how I did!
Its a little wonky at detecting your angle correctly sometimes, but dw, the scores don't actually matter. Same amount of points, so 🤷 w/e ig. Hopefully they'll fix that one day.
And you earn points for practicing your angle/speed (2 pts per practice, up to 3 practices a day) and for brushing (2 pts per brushing)! You can even set challenges like "brush 2 times a day for 4 days" and get more points! And then you get 1 point if you get the daily trivia right.
The points make it kinda feel slightly more game-ified? I have bad adhd and executive dysfunction, so having the points and the scores after each brushing really helped a ton in getting me into the habit of brushing once a night at least. I'm still working on getting it to twice a day.
You use the points to get free replacement heads or even more of the brushes. I just ordered replacement 2 free replacement heads (for 999 points). That'll cover me for a while, so now I'm gonna start saving up points to get my nephew the kids' version of the brush for free.
Oh and it connects with Bluetooth so you don't need the wifi to brush. And the brush itself can store brushing sessions if you're ever disconnected from your phone. So that's neat too!
As for the effectiveness? my teeth ABSOLUTELY feel cleaner. Like, did you know you're supposed to hold your brush at a 45° angle??? That's some advanced shit I never even would have fuckin noticed. My teeth feel so much fuckin cleaner and I've deffo seen less plaque buildup.
Oh and the real kicker? On Amazon it's like, $20 (USD) max. Just buy the battery one. You can literally buy a rechargeable battery set and the battery toothbrush version for waaaayyy cheaper than paying for the dumb rechargeable brush (cuz it's like over $50 wtf).
Again, not sponsored, I just like gushing about this brush because I've had lifelong trouble with trying to develop a habit of brushing. And this has helped me brush more consistently, because the points system and the visual guide is very encouraging for me.
Is it a perfect brush? Ha, no! Is it better than I was brushing before? 1000% yes!
Esp for like $20? It's some wild shit for that cheap actually
_______________
**Update 01/11/23: Tried the manual kids one**
I earned enough points to get my nephew one for $7 last month (you still have to pay shipping, that's why it still cost, but that's still half of what it would cost without points!!)
The nephew turned out to be too young to understand it, so right now it's kinda in ownership limbo. I decided to clean it and try it out though, and the game is cute and fun! You have to brush certain areas to defeat monsters that are attacking that part of your teeth!
What I don't like is the way the app detects the manual toothbrush. It can't really detect angle, and if you cover the colorful bottom of the toothbrush up even slightly, it can't find your toothbrush.
One day, I'd love to try out the electric kids one and see if it does better!
Also, I could be mistaken, but I *think* using it actually gave me points in the normal app too? I'll have to test that more.
All in all, I can't reccomend the kids manual one nearly as much as I recommend the adult electric one!

Normal Hum Brush (electric, battery powered), usually runs $15-20 usd: a.co/fVmni3P
Kids Hum Brush (electric, battery powered), ~$33: a.co/fs4bOdi
Kids Hum Brush (manual, no batteries), ~$15: a.co/2tuAdM1
**Please just buy the battery ones rather than the built-in-rechargeable ones! They're so much cheaper!
"But I don't wanna spend money on buying batteries all the time!" dude shh, you know I got you!
Here's the best brand charger I've ever had. This version of it can recharge BOTH AA *and* AAA (only rechargeable Ni-MH ones, do NOT put in normal ones) batteries, and over a USB connection, at that! Just plug it into a brick or smthn like you would for your phone!
And the best part? $10. a.co/6zaUsv2
"But that charger doesn't come with any batteries!" BOOM. An entire 10 pack of Ni-MH AAA 1100mAh batteries for $10. you're welcome!!! Use the extras in your TV remotes n stuff! brush itself only takes a few! a.co/bu8N1yz
(if these aren't available where you live, you're essentially just looking for something that can charge Ni-MH AAA rechargeable batteries. I suggest getting on that doubles for AAs, since ones that do both are best for the price.
Also, the higher the mAh, the longer the batteries can last between charges).
Now let's do some QUICK MATHS:
Hum Rechargeable Brush: ~$53 (at time of writing)
That's expensive!
Now...
Hum Battery Brush: **~$18**
Eneloop battery recharger: **$10**
10 Ni-MH AAA EBL rechargeable batteries: **$10**
Total: $38.
**Just saved yourself $15,** AND you have several extra rechargeable AAA batteries to use wherever you want!
If you want something good to spend that $15 in savings on, why not go ahead and buy yourself a good pack of rechargeable AAs as well? You have a sweet new charger that can charge both kinds; you may as well make it extra useful!
I suggest Ebl brand agsin since it's cheap and seems like the popular choice.
4 pack Ebl AA, 2500 mAh Batteries ($8) a.co/7PioCgP
8 pack Ebl AA, 2800mAh Batteries ($12.40, atm): a.co/1jbRrFH

Someone in the comments already stated this, and I understand why Nick and Drew missed this piece of information because the product is coming to nondisabled spaces in a form that is pretty much rebranded and wish-ified. The original design was created for physically and mentally disabled people though. For me as an autistic person with c-ptsd, adhd, and chronic pain+fatigue, the sensory experience of brushing my teeth is so overwhelming it can cause panic attacks, and i’ll avoid it for weeks, i wish i was kidding. Sometimes videos like this (where people make fun of products made for disabled people) come off as quite insulting and have harmful things, but this one at least to me feels less cruel. They still make fun of the product but it feels more understanding of why someone would want this.
However I’m not physically disabled and don’t have anything like that could prevent me from physically brushing. I do have ADHD which has caused me to go long periods without brushing my teeth but I still feel this product wasn’t really made for me, so I don’t feel that it’s my place to say for sure if they handled it right, but at least it feels more lighthearted and kind. it was weird that they left out the strict "two liter of pepsi" a day regimen used throughout the experiment
I use a toothbrush like this on my 2 year old who refuses to let me use a regular toothbrush. She is going through evaluation for autism, so we aren’t sure if she is, but she is very particular about the way certain things feel, and these types of toothbrushes have actually been so helpful for us. Seems weird, but definitely serves a good purpose.
But the one we bought is not crazy expensive or from this company. Just saying the design has been helpful for so many
drew rarely collabs with people, so its very exciting
I have Gerd which makes me go into a vomiting cycle when I brush my teeth I was looking into getting one of these to see if it helped and it sucks that it's pretty much useless, but at least I got to watch drew spend his money instead of me spending mine
god that sounds awful do you know why brushing triggers it? i have gerd too but it's pretty mild specially nowadays
@@phosphenevision I think it's the combination of the texture and flavour of the tooth paste and the brushing around my back teeth, because once I retch once it's all over for me lol, good to hear your symptoms are mild atm :)
Oh god I’m sorry that sounds awful! I’ve had chronic GERD for the last 18 months but never to that extent. I’ve been given a combination of esomeprazole, amytripiline and gaviscon for it. Sleeping sitting upright also helps.
@@Catmum1998 at the moment I'm taking proton pump inhibitors to see if that will help, I also have to sleep upright because sometimes the acid ends up in my nose and chest 🤢 I've found peppermint oil to be good for some relief when things are super bad and most mints have it in already
@@HellenBach yeah PPIs are usually the first route, I had a bad experience with lanzoprazole but esomeprazole suits me well. Probiotics can sometimes ease symptoms and I highly recommended a maternity pillow and/or a large foam wedge to keep upright more comfortably in bed.
I remember getting those chews to see where the plaque is when I was in elementary school. A dentist came to visit our class and gave each of us one to show how important brushing was. However, since we were all 8 years old, we just ran around grossing each other out with how much color stuck to our teeth LOL
Sorry Nick, this is more like Danny’s video than yours
I hope there are brands/versions of this product that work better and are more customizable for the people who could really benefit from such a thing cause the concept is solid. Also those bristles looked really hard and my sensitive mouth would hurt more than just using a soft manual brush
I have actually inviosoned this product since I was a child, and I think I might buy it.
Finally, a perfect trilogy of Danny collabs
There are waaay cheaper versions of this brush that have been really helpful when cleaning my grandma's teeth after her strokes.
Really glad to see Nick helping smaller creators like Danny !
Finally! The two have crossed paths on this channel for a full video! Glad to see it!
i cant believe nick got the creator of youtube on here!
damn i’ve NEVER been to the hospital for toothbrush related accidents i’ve been brushing my teeth wrong this whole time!
Another video with Drew that helped me in my career of assistive technology. He had another video where he ordered Kizik shoes and it helped me gauge if they were actually helpful for my clients.
I was eating breakfast while watching this and it made me want to brush my teeth after (which I did). Thanks Nick
Great video btw, this collab was entertaining! :)
There are some tube designs where the nozzle is sealed and you have to cut it off about halfway to open it, (which blunts your scissors) but they should definitely have that instruction clearly somewhere, they obviously just selected the cheapest tubes they could find, the cost being cut by making the customer do some of the work, and didn't care enough to add instructions on it.
if they're charging 150 goddamn dollars they should send a pre-brush kit so they can custom mold their brush heads to everyone
Drew's been doing so many collabs lately and I'm here for it 🤩
I researched these and could not find a single model that was ADA approved, thus I assumed they did not work.
MORE COLLABS YAYAYAYAYA I AM EXPLODING WITH EUPHORIA
the collabs have been pouring like dogs and cats, I love it!!!!!
Okay? So is it good or not?

Okay. Nevermind...
I believe this was designed for disabled people to make them feel more independent cause as someone whos had depression for a long time im never i mean never motivated to brush my teeth or spend the time getting up and brushing a brush around my mouth (its not even the time its just the motivation) i think i'd be way more motivated to brush my teeth if i didnt have to actually move the brush around or anything i just wish it was cheaper if they wanna design something for disabled people make it where they can afford it (just my ideas on the matter and item)
"I can't wait to shove this thing down my throat" -Drew Gooden, 2022
drew gooden dany gonzlez video haha
This is perfect for me because I always break my leg every time I brush my teeth.
ive literally had an idea of a toothbrush that looks and just about functions exactly like this, wild as hell
