Movies that don’t coddle you with happy endings are the best kind of movie. In the most beautiful of films, the protagonist dies, whether it be literal or emotional. That is the best and most respectful way that movie could’ve ended in my opinion. Same goes for truth or dare, they want to stay alive enough to sacrifice hundreds or thousands of other people. This might have been the only way to get out of this situation without just letting the game die with you, and almost anybody would choose the deaths of others over the deaths of themselves. I think this ending is a good representation of what the audience would probably do in this situation, so this is the best way the movie could’ve ended because the only alternative is killing every character.
I remember Would You Rather, when it came out, being the type of horror movie that took a saw approach but wasn’t just chaotic torture the whole time, so it was really good BUT I also was (and still am thank u) in love with Brittany Snow so probably biased lmao

for some reason, when I was in high school, I used to watch Would you rather like every month. I guess it was a part of my edgy horror enjoyer phase. I rewatched it recently and tbh I still kind of enjoy it. The ending is shocking. I think that was the point. To me, the entire film is an allegory for american capitalism (maybe not the most sophisticated, but the message is still there). We start off the film learning about Iris' inability to pay for treatment for her sick brother. This is already something that I'd say the majority of working class americans can relate to. It's such a common issue that Bernie Sanders put it front and center for his campaign. Iris is then offered the money she needs for the treatment, but only if she is willing to degrade and harm herself and others. I think you can see where the comparison is in capitalism. Making money becomes one's soul purpose when money is necessary to survive. When, at the end, Iris finds that her brother OD'ed, it all becomes pointless. She killed and maimed her way to wealth in the hopes that she would be able to support her family, yet it was all for nothing. It's depressing but it is our reality.
Ready or Not is one of my favorite movies. I just really like how Grace's character develops as she tries to survive thale family. She is so badass ‼️‼️‼️
my favorite movie of this genre is actually a musical, Don't Stop Me. Where a high school dance-a-thon is revealed to be organized by a demonic DJ killing off the teens with each round until only one couple is left alive to win the prize. There's no actual loophole in winning, only one couple does manage to survive. But they decide not to accept the prize, breaking the game and killing the DJ so he can't torment any more schools.

14:48 I how while you were going through this rant, there was a faint cricket sound that I thought was an editor's touch apart of this video.. but then it passed and I paused and that's just my own cricket noise outside my window 😶
can u also please talk about how disgusting the oversexualization of ads on childrens games is. i play a bunch of salon games and other made for kids games, and the ads that you get are ridiculous. i started screenshooting every time i get one because it’s genuinely disgusting, i have so many screenshots it’s sick. they advertise a few different bdsm versions of the game episode, and regular games but with super sexualized ads. i never seen anyone talking about this but it’s a real problem. it has to be intentional because why when i play an “adult game” like solitaire i get normal ads for like monopoly or cooking fever but as soon as i play a game for kids the ads get sexual. i think they know the curiosity of younger kids so they know it will get clicks but that’s disgusting. and if the ads aren’t sexual, many of them send terrible messages about body image for young girls. i’ve literally tried looking this up several times and no one seems to talk about it. if you would download some apps like nail salon 3d or icing on the cake or flip trickster, or just almost any kids game.
Would You Rather came out like a decade before Squid Game. All the others came out a couple years before it aswell, apart from Bodies Bodies Bodies, obviously.. so, technically, wouldn't Squid Game be like these movies, not the other way around? Lol.
Would you rather is such a funny movie to me because I watched it with my cousin. If we watch a movie together a scary movie can not be scary. We say too many dumb jokes. So some context, I had recently got three stepsisters. So towards the end of the movie, first of all, I turned to him and said "Wouldn't it be funny if when she went home her brother had killed himself so she did that all for nothing?" And then it happened 😭😭😭 Also when he's trying to convince the MC to not shoot him he goes "Please I have three sisters" and then she basically immediately shoots him and I went "She was just putting him out of his misery, I would know."
The thing with this is that 'bad' movies are still most of the time still fun to watch. And bad movies are a necessary part of movie culture, because they make the good ones all the more satisfying

the background music that plays during the part 1 intro made me worry that you weren’t going to talk for two solid minutes
The way he kept bringing up the pistachio shells 😭
would you rather is unironically a favorite of mine
SO GLAD THE CASE HAS STAYED!
i thought the crack in the paint on his wall was a smudge on my phone and tried rubbing it off
happy halloween all you little green goblins and ghouls
Slaying with that costume
was the music at 3.30 a dig at Cody?
this is the 5,000th video on UA-cam I've liked so congrats Nick enjoy this nonsense award
when is the Scary Maze Game netflix series coming out
the fact that nick picked the one character that would actually make sense saying "I forgot my script."
Love him reviewing horror movies it helps because horror is also my fav movie genre despite most of the movie I've seen being pretty bad
1:04 yugioh (also yugioh started out as a horror manga centered around popular games at the time, but when they introduced the card game into the manga, it became really popular and the trajectory of the series shifted to card games)
if you want to watch early murder yugioh then you can look up "yugioh season 0" btw. It's where the main guy kills people in the name of justice but he has a very twisted sense of justice
there is a part of your ad music that sounds SO SIMILAR to a jennifer lopez song called i'm glad from my childhood and it trips me out every single time
Ready or Not slaps. Would recommend.
I remember watching Would you rather entirely because Robin Lord Taylor was in it and I love him
14:48 I how while you were going through this rant, there was a faint cricket sound that I thought was an editor's touch apart of this video.. but then it passed and I paused and that's just my own cricket noise outside my window 😶
guys I actually like the Cody ko royalty free music unironically, it is kind of good
ready or not is a really good movie that i very much reccomend
lmao I keep thinking that spot on his wall is a smudge on my screen; great video though 🎃
can u also please talk about how disgusting the oversexualization of ads on childrens games is. i play a bunch of salon games and other made for kids games, and the ads that you get are ridiculous. i started screenshooting every time i get one because it’s genuinely disgusting, i have so many screenshots it’s sick. they advertise a few different bdsm versions of the game episode, and regular games but with super sexualized ads. i never seen anyone talking about this but it’s a real problem. it has to be intentional because why when i play an “adult game” like solitaire i get normal ads for like monopoly or cooking fever but as soon as i play a game for kids the ads get sexual. i think they know the curiosity of younger kids so they know it will get clicks but that’s disgusting. and if the ads aren’t sexual, many of them send terrible messages about body image for young girls. i’ve literally tried looking this up several times and no one seems to talk about it. if you would download some apps like nail salon 3d or icing on the cake or flip trickster, or just almost any kids game.
Would You Rather came out like a decade before Squid Game. All the others came out a couple years before it aswell, apart from Bodies Bodies Bodies, obviously.. so, technically, wouldn't Squid Game be like these movies, not the other way around? Lol.
Nice Cody Ko reference!!
Would you rather is such a funny movie to me because I watched it with my cousin. If we watch a movie together a scary movie can not be scary. We say too many dumb jokes. So some context, I had recently got three stepsisters.
So towards the end of the movie, first of all, I turned to him and said "Wouldn't it be funny if when she went home her brother had killed himself so she did that all for nothing?" And then it happened 😭😭😭
Also when he's trying to convince the MC to not shoot him he goes "Please I have three sisters" and then she basically immediately shoots him and I went "She was just putting him out of his misery, I would know."
The thing with this is that 'bad' movies are still most of the time still fun to watch. And bad movies are a necessary part of movie culture, because they make the good ones all the more satisfying
Love the codyko elevator music cameo
It was the opening sequence for me 😂😂
7:35 I read sputler alert twice dude
Love the pistachio commentary!
