These are gorgeous! It looks like fun to make them. I love trying new things. Plus it doesn't look like it would be expensive at all. I'm going to have to try this! Thanks for making this video, and it definitely wasn't too long!
Definitely not too long. Lovely video and nice to watch you actually making the lace. They're all so beautiful! And so are those cards. Thanks for another lovely tutorial xx
Great video. I saw someone else do this on a video but they were definitely not as thorough as you have been and I appreciate your thoroughness. You have a lovely speaking voice and I could listen to you all day. I am going to check out your other videos in the morning. It is the wee hours where I live. Thank you so much for sharing.
Wow! Everything is so beautiful & almost looks like fabric. I didn't know that you could use modeling paste. Have to give it a try. All your molds are so beautiful. Mine are all so deep because they are for backing. I can't seem to find the ones you used. I know this video is old, but I will try Amazon or eBay. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you very much for this video! This opens a whole new world for me, alhamdulillah! I have been longing to use die cuts. But a manual die cutting machine is not available in my country. I can get one from abroad. BUT what I don't like is that I can't use my own designs because I have to buy ready-made die cuts. An electronic die cutting machine can enable me to do that but I feel apprehensive. Since they are not readily available in my country, I don't think it will be easy to get it repaired if something happens. Since what is important for me is using my own cut-out designs and they don't have to be on paper, silicone molds are good for me. First I have to design something on my PC and then go to a shop that will laser cut my design on thin metal or some other sturdy material. Then I have to make a silicone mold of my laser-cut design. Once my mold is ready I can use your techniques to reproduce my design when I want it and as much as I want it, in shaa Allah! That means, I will be able to use your technique to make cut-out designs of my own drawing, hand-lettering etc! Once again, thank you. Your video is not long at all, it has just the right amount of detailed info. Keep it up!
Design For Deen , I am pleased you enjoyed my video, and glad it is going to allow you to do what you want. Good luck with this, and hope you like the results 😄
This is so COOL! TFS, Helen! I went to your linked video and that crafter said molds were available at Hobby Lobby here in the states. Can't wait to try this!
Thank you for sharing this technique, so many great idea's, certainly stronger than paper doilies and will be easier to stick on cards. Thank you again
Just got my first mold order and used caulking to make snowflakes. Not totally successful the first time round but I am so excited with this new idea (to me). Passed this idea and video name on to my crafting group!! Thanks again!
Thank you Nancy, keep practicing, it takes a few goes to get easier, each mold is different, and the caulking varies for how long to leave it I the mold, just experiment and have fun, I always had varying results, a couple of disasters, but mostly great results. Glad you are as excited as I was 💜💛💚
Hi Helen, just come across this very interesting video of yours, first off, no apologies need, it’s a very informative video, I’ve recently bought a mould from Aliexpress and the light moulding paste to give this craft a try, it’s good to know you can nip to the DIY store and buy what we call bath sealant in the U.K. so will give this a go as well, thanks for the video, take care. Regards.
I have a lot of these molds from when I was decorating cakes with sugar Lace, Thankyou for sharing this information, now to get them out and raid the shed for the no more gaps etc and put my molds to some more use, these molds have been in storage for a while (no more sugar lacing for these) lol
Absolutely brilliant and so engrossing to me! I can’t wait to try it. Thanks so much for making me spend more money on crafting! It makes my husband crazy....oh well!
Helen, this video has been so helpful. I have some silicone molds from Martha Stewart but nothing like these gorgeous lacy ones. Can't wait to get some. I am curious and I have to ask... have you used the beautiful lace you mentioned as your favorite? Would 3 of those loops fit in the long side of a 5x7 card? I think it would make a stunning wedding card.
Please don’t apologise for the length, I learnt so much from watching . I just bought a small container of acrylic stucco, that’s what they call it in Greece. And some silicon mounds and lace strips have just come so your video is perfect timing. I want to use the designs on tin cans as planters on my veranda this summer. I’ve saved large feta tins as well as smaller olive oil tins and I can’t wait to use my mould designs on them. What kind of adhesive would you suggest I use? I have E-6000 or perhaps wood glue? Thank you for taking the time to show us how it’s done. Be well.
Thank you so much, these molds would be perfect for your tins, my husband uses them on terracotta pots for our de k, so very similar, and they look great, he paints them and puts a darker colour on the old and then wipes it off so that colour stays in nooks and crannies, to show up the moldings, they look great. The skys the limit with what you can use them for
Thanks Robyn, the person who had quite a few videos that I saw this for the first time, has unfortunately deleted all her videos, she had lots of great tips.
thanks! i was wondering how to use the molds. now i'll have to find the correct molding paste to use. i also love the ones that you made in the video. they are beautiful!!
@@handcraftedbyhelen1963 I'm having difficulty finding the Golden Molding paste. All I see is Fiber paste which usually has strings in it, so I don't think that will work.
I dont think that would work. Try finding a paste plaster filler at a hardware store, but it cant be silicone based and it has to be a flexible one otherwise it will crack when you try takungbut outbox the mold. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the suggestion, I dont think 6ou 29uld manage to get the caulking to stay in the grooves if it was oiled, but it might be worth having aa go. 🎄🎅🎄

You used windows and doors frame sealent, isn't this silicon, with you it didn't stick, maybe I am confused, sorry. Did you try 100% silicon with molds? Thank you in advance for your help and advice. Tank you for your comment. No it isn't silicone, you are right silicone will stick in the mold. It is a caulking you have to use. A type of plaster compound, our main brand is Selleys but not sure what you will have in your country. Try a hardware store and ask for caulking that's not silicone.

just wanted to ask if you have to haze when you are just using the caulk or also when using modelling and texture pastes as well. beautiful job, i have ordered myself lots of moulds from aliexpress.
Jake, I de haze modeling pastes as well as caulking,as I am a bit messy and it tidied them up. If you are tidy you might not need to, and I found it was easier to do it whi,e it is in the mold instead of after. My husband doesnt dehaze at all, he tidied everything with a craft knife afterwards. Have fun, it's very addictive. Unfortunately everything is taking ages from Aliexpress at the moment with the pandemic.
@@handcraftedbyhelen1963 tell me about it. i am still waiting for parcels i ordered 1st february, but I suppose with everything that is going on at the moment it is to be expected.
Beautiful! Can you use the doilies for something other than cards? I work with Polymer Clay and wondering if it can be used for texturing the clay or making jewelry? Thank you for the instructional video!
Gloria you can probably use them for lots of other things. I do vintage home decor products and was looking at using them to decoratechristmas decorations for next year. I have also used them on decorating wooden boxes that I make too.
Lovely! I wonder if you have tried making your own molds as well. I'm new here and greatly admire your work. I have molding compound that I use for resin in jewelry making.
This is just genius. Have a question I saw other video and they put corn starch before adding the paste and than on top of design have you tried this if so do you see any difference
Norine I haven't tried it with cornstarch, for the caulking I used I didn't need to, so not sure if it would make any difference, as I am not sure why they used it 🌹🌷🌹
Great YT Helen. I've been using No More Gaps as an alternative as well and found that to be the best so far, as I live in Australia and don't have access to the American product xox.
@@handcraftedbyhelen1963 Helen do you make your own moulds or do you buy them ,I am New hear , and I would like to know ,they are so beautiful, where I could buy them, or how to make them.
Hi, I am cleaning it once it has dried out, doesn't have to be completely, but you need the top surface to be dry, because if you do the rubbing/cleaning, you will just wipe out the caulking if it is still wet.
Thank you Tammy, you do it once it's dry otherwise you end up wiping out all the filler or paste you have put in, as they are quite shallow. Wait until they are totally dry.
Hi Candace. Yes I have used airdry clay, and they are great for some things but not the really fine lacy ones, you just can't get it to stay in the tiny areas of these finer ones. Also the problem with airdry clay is they shrink quite a bit as they dry out, and you can loose some of the detail. To glue the filler ones on (its not silicone, that doesn't work in silicone molds) I use an adhesive spray or use my fine nozzle glue bottle and put the tiniest smear of glue on the back in some strategic areas.
I also use this technique, its great, I suggest to skip the cleaning of the mold with alcohol by useing a different spatula, since I can't post any pict here...let me know if you want me to show you, maybe of messenger
www.amazon.com/WSSROGY-Plastic-Spatula-Flexible-Painting/dp/B07HQKQLX7/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1548951784&sr=8-5&keywords=small+plastic+spatula+crafting this is what I am talking about, it's the widest one, it works perfect for this and you can skip the cleaning mold part
Yes I probably should use a better scraper to finish the smoothing out. Thank you, I can figure out what you do. It is a great way of adding embellishments isn't it
I have to tell you about an easy way to clean up your mold to get the film off of the lace/doily before you remove it from the mold. CLEAR PACKING TAPE works perfect for removing that film AFTER it is completely dry. Cut a strip of tape, press down on mold and lift up. Do this to get in all spaces. I use a firm pressing and have yet to lift the piece out of the mold. After you are finished, remove the piece. You can instantly clean the mold up by doing the same process. I get all my pieces done so much more quickly. Give it a go.
Hi Diane, I use a spray on adhesive that I got from a hardware store, although it is available from some art and craft stores too, just seems to be cheaper at hardware stores. 💛💚💙
Oh no! yes it does look as though she has, I can't find her in my subscription list, and my links don't work, thanks for the 'heads up', thats a shame, as she had some really great content.
Hi Cathey, it really depends on the caulk you are using, the one I was using has a bit of shrinkage, so I usually have to do a second skim over and then wait for that to dry, so it is usually about that long to totally dry. Must try a little corner and see if it is going to come out ok, otherwise leave it a little longer. If it is dry enough to remove, then go ahead, if it isn't dry enough it will either tear, or fall apart. Just trial and error I'm afraid. I tend to do it , if in the mornings, then go off to work, or if it's in the evening, then I leave it until the next morning.
Thank you. I did end up waiting 24 hours just in case. They turned out beautifully except one that was super detailed. I can use bits of it, but the smaller ones come out awesome. Thank you.
Aha! I tried this technique once and it was simply horrible. Seems that the tutorial I followed didn’t mention the rubbing alcohol step! I might actually try it again. Thank you.
Just lovely, thank you, oh dear does this mean I'll have another addiction !! I'm wondering tho,is there an advantage to making these rather than using paper dies that look lovely on the cards
Yvonne, it's just another way of making embellishments, and if you would rather stick to dies then do so, I just love trying new things and thought I would show what I had discovered in case others wanted to have a go. You are right, it's just one more thing to have to buy stuff for. I also do vintage and shabby chic home decor products and thought it would be useful for that too
Oh dear, Ive already looked at Aliexpress and the molds are lovely and some are so cheap, I'm trying to control myself !!! Thought I'd show you one of my cards. I'm a kiwi girl too _lh3.googleusercontent.com/wKg05_Vd4MdDXaB2gXVljtaIrSl1vpdsK2TUzg3ns8QDXAGM6TieTNKwyoypEu8VTAvynmoRpg_

Thank you Helen
I've used them on furniture, Christmas village houses, and I'm currently making lots(and lots) of a very wide lace motif to add to my walls.
Thank you for sharing your process - it helps to see all the results, not just the successful ones. The cards you made are gorgeous!
Lovely! I wonder if you have tried making your own molds as well. I'm new here and greatly admire your work. I have molding compound that I use for resin in jewelry making.
My husband and I have made a few molds with this stuff called pinkysil, for doing appliques on furniture, but not of these really fine ones.
I want to try and make some. I’m not sure what I’d use them for though.
dgmlmax thank you for commenting, I use them on cards where I would normally put a daily, or use them on decorating boxes that I make. 💛💚💜
Your cards are beautiful ❤️
Thank you 💙
Nice! So which product was your favorite, or preference?
I think I like the sellers no more gaps, it seems stronger, when it is older.
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing! ❤
StudioSilverCreek you are most welcome 🌹🌷🌹
Thanks for sahing
Mit was püzen Silikon
Just found this video. How do you attach them to cards, special glue or normal?
Just normal, any glue that I would stick embellishments on with Janet 💙💛💜
@@handcraftedbyhelen1963 Thank you for your reply, just noticed that video was from 4 years ago🥴. I have subscribed now
Wow! This is amazing!
What kind of glue do you use to adhere them?
Laura
Thanks aquinyc, I have been using a spray adhesive so that I get the entire back of doilies etc to stick them down.
Is the modelling paste dry when you clean up the mould with alcohol?
Yes it is, otherwise if it is still wet, you end up wiping too much away.
Thanks Olga, I have used that too, as here in NZ we don't either. It seems to work well 💙💜💚
@@handcraftedbyhelen1963 Helen do you make your own moulds or do you buy them ,I am New hear , and I would like to know ,they are so beautiful, where I could buy them, or how to make them.
No if you look in the description box below the video I have links to Aliexpress where I bought them all. Way to intricate and fancy for me to make!
This is amazing I make this with AliExpress but you convine with another products is gorgeous thanks for sharing! New subbie.
Koyo Sensebe Arts and Craft! Koyo Sensebe thank you 💜💛💚
Are you cleaning the moulds after they are dry or while they are drying???
Hi, I am cleaning it once it has dried out, doesn't have to be completely, but you need the top surface to be dry, because if you do the rubbing/cleaning, you will just wipe out the caulking if it is still wet.
What a great idea! So nice. TFS.
Thank you so much Ingrid
Do you do the dehazing while the paste is still wet or wait until it's dry. Thanks
Thank you Tammy, you do it once it's dry otherwise you end up wiping out all the filler or paste you have put in, as they are quite shallow. Wait until they are totally dry.
Have used air dry clay which us not flexible, but how do the part silicone ones glue on??
Hi Candace. Yes I have used airdry clay, and they are great for some things but not the really fine lacy ones, you just can't get it to stay in the tiny areas of these finer ones. Also the problem with airdry clay is they shrink quite a bit as they dry out, and you can loose some of the detail. To glue the filler ones on (its not silicone, that doesn't work in silicone molds) I use an adhesive spray or use my fine nozzle glue bottle and put the tiniest smear of glue on the back in some strategic areas.
soooo pretty and easy!!Tanks for sharing!!
You are very welcome Graciela
Stunning
Thank you 💜💙💚
Very pretty doilies!
Lovin'Life2016 thank you
How long do you have to wait before cleaning up the hazing
Ruth, you need to wait until it is dry, as if you try and clean it up while wet, you will mess up the area that you want for your mold,
Awesome! Just Beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you so much Donna
I also use this technique, its great, I suggest to skip the cleaning of the mold with alcohol by useing a different spatula, since I can't post any pict here...let me know if you want me to show you, maybe of messenger
www.amazon.com/WSSROGY-Plastic-Spatula-Flexible-Painting/dp/B07HQKQLX7/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1548951784&sr=8-5&keywords=small+plastic+spatula+crafting
this is what I am talking about, it's the widest one, it works perfect for this and you can skip the cleaning mold part
Yes I probably should use a better scraper to finish the smoothing out. Thank you, I can figure out what you do. It is a great way of adding embellishments isn't it
@@handcraftedbyhelen1963 love it , pretty and cheap !!👍
Hallo. If you have a mold that doesn't want to work try widening the problem spot by cutting it open a bit
Thank you for your idea, I think this butterfly one might be a bit too intricate and fiddly to do this, but I could give it a go. 💛💜💙
Just Brilliant thank you for sharing.
Thank you Patricia 🌻🌻🌻
I have to tell you about an easy way to clean up your mold to get the film off of the lace/doily before you remove it from the mold. CLEAR PACKING TAPE works perfect for removing that film AFTER it is completely dry. Cut a strip of tape, press down on mold and lift up. Do this to get in all spaces. I use a firm pressing and have yet to lift the piece out of the mold. After you are finished, remove the piece. You can instantly clean the mold up by doing the same process. I get all my pieces done so much more quickly. Give it a go.
Diana thank you for the tip, I will give it a go. 💛💚💜
Absolutely gorgeous I just found you and I will keep you
Thank you Bonnie, and welcome
Thank you so much for sharing this! It's such a great idea !
Thank you so much for your comment Tanya
what do you use to adhere the silicone lace to paper crafting projects?
Hi Diane, I use a spray on adhesive that I got from a hardware store, although it is available from some art and craft stores too, just seems to be cheaper at hardware stores. 💛💚💙
Hi is the GOLDEN light modelling paste edible?
Definately not, it's an artist medium!
@@handcraftedbyhelen1963 oh no!
Has 47CMC shut down their channel? Cannot find the videos anymore?
Oh no! yes it does look as though she has, I can't find her in my subscription list, and my links don't work, thanks for the 'heads up', thats a shame, as she had some really great content.
Do you have to wait 24 hours for the caulk to dry and take out of the fondant mold?
Thank you.
Omg I'm in love with this, wish I knew where to get the materials at a good price where I'm from 😣
BrItZeeEee thank you, I just get it from a local hardware department store or local stationery store, it goes a long way
Thank you 💜💛💚
Aha! I tried this technique once and it was simply horrible. Seems that the tutorial I followed didn’t mention the rubbing alcohol step! I might actually try it again. Thank you.
Wishing you success Bev 💚💙💛
I'm a kiwi girl too

It's nice to meet another kiwi here Yvonne, sorry I couldn't get that link to work, but would love to see your card.
Wonderful idea! TFS!
Thanks Gail
What do you use these molded pieces for?
Rosie I use them for la e or doilies on cards mainly, I have a card that I made butterflies to put on a card, the link is ua-cam.com/video/OMzezBX4Oho/v-deo.html
do these get brittle over time?
Andrea they are just a couple of months shy of a year old, and still very pliable, I guess it would depend on the caulking you used I guess 💛💚💜
Amazing! Thank you for sharing
Thank you Rouma
Wow gorgeous, ty for sharing.
Thank you Luz 💚💙💜

Thank you very much Denise, they are lovely
another good idear, i like it
From now on, not until I have tried and am satisfied with the content of the tuition of the video I will not put any thumbs up let alone subscribe. I have done so many likes and subscriptions that have not worked. Thank you anyway. Comments and feedback on UA-cam SHOULD be given as honest opinions not just clicking likes for the sake of it.
