  • This video is about how to use acrylic gap filler in your silicone moulds to make embellishments for your projects. The material is flexible after drying, it can be moulded around objects, painted and cut to size.
    Acrylic gap filler can be bought at any hardware store. I'm in Australia, thus I bought it at Bunnings. (www.bunnings.c...)
    Americans call it Caulk -

    thank you for this information it’s very useful. I enjoyed watching this and your other vedios. please tell me how long will these last ? I see this vedio was made in 2020. how have those embelishments lasted and how do they look now in 2022.. please can you make a vedio showing how you used these. Hi simb231. Your welcome. The embellishments do last a long time, they are still the same as when I made them, even longer than 2020. I have used my acrylic embellishments in many mixed media projects that I have shared on UA-cam. Go to the playlist Mixed Media Projects on my channel, almost all projects there have these embellishments. I am sure they will work with jewellery. There are moulds with beads and bangles, pendants, they can be filled. You can also use coloured acrylic filler or colour the white acrylic with paints. Give it a go. Do small samples. Experiment a bit. You can buy small tubes of this acrylic filler if you want to try this medium. Actually, this is a good idea making jewellery. I have some pendant moulds I can try this with. I will see if I can make a video on how to colour and make pendants. Something new to think about. I will need time to make this video. But please look around my channel on projects using this medium. Thank you for letting me know. Much appriciated your comment. Regards Monika.

    Thanks for sharing. I got several molds from Temu, but have been reluctant to start, as I was going to use hot glue. I like the calking idea much better. Noe I can hardly wait to start. • @Monikas_Handmade_Compendium

      Hi. Depending on the depth of the mould. When shallow just overnight or less. When larger or deeper couple days or more or less. If you like the material and what it can do then it is worth the wait. One can accumulate many shapes overtime. The acrylic filler does last for long time when used or stored. Thank you for asking. Hi Chana. I was never worried about the air bubbles because I like the look of the outcome, grungy look to the shapes. So I’m not really sure how not Thanks for following and loving my crafty stuff have them. Maybe when pushing out the caulk do it in one shot or maybe once in the cavity give it a gentle mix, you could try and tap the mould and see what happens. Good question, needs. Ore experimenting. Hi Veola. Thanks for watching. It depends on the mould. If they are shallow like the doily then a few hours. Most of the moulds overnight. I see this vid is three years old but I feel compelled to make a few points. NOT ALL acrylic sealants work for molds. One MUST find one that is acrylic with SOME silicon in order for it to be flexible. I made this mistake when I first began. If there is no silicon in it, it dries hard and breaks up easily. Impossible to use for this type of craft.
    Also, the sealant must NOT be 100% silicon, otherwise it will stick permanently to your molds, ruining it. Lastly, in order for the sealant to pop out of the mold, it is best to dust corn flour/ corn starch (same thing) into the molds before squeezing in sealant. All this info can be easily found in more recent vids on You Tube.

    • @Monikas_Handmade_Compendium
      @Monikas_Handmade_Compendium  Рік тому +1

      Hi. No worries at all. If that is your experience with ALL acrylic sealants that’s fine. The points I have made in my videos about Monarch acrylic gap filler still stands to this day. Just a point to make. I have stored the shapes made from this acrylic gap filler since making the videos and they are still flexible and ready to be used.

    • @Monikas_Handmade_Compendium
      @Monikas_Handmade_Compendium  3 роки тому

      Hi. Yes you can paint them, I suggest to prime them first using gesso or paint primer. Personally I have not glued them to furniture. But you can use wood glue. Or I personally use Finnabair heavy body gel to glue them to canvases and that is very strong glue. This acrylic gap filler is a type of plastic so you may look for glue that adheres plastic to furniture (assuming furniture is wood). I hope this helps. You may search around more for glues that work with plastics and wood. Thank you for asking and have a great day. Happy Crafting 😀💜🙏
