I bought LumaFusion for iPad! It’s interface is incredible and I love being able to do all of my work on the couch instead of the desk chair. It also syncs wonderfully with iCloud and the Files app which is what I use to house all of my content creation things.
Because you might have the best sentence later and you mess up initially..so when editing from end youll see the better version initially and you keep them.. whereas if you start from front..you'll need to play all the way to the end and then come back to cut down the bad part
The Flow transition effect is called Morph is Adobe Premiere. I had been using all of the other tips already, but this one was new to me, and it’s exactly what I need for the video I’m currently working on. Thanks!
OMG I LOVE TIP #1 with editing through the audio wavelengths. I clap when I make a mistake and then use that wavelength to clip out the blooper. People tell me they think I am a natural LOL. Who else loves talking head shots?
Joy Mae - Millennial Money Talk I do something similar (or did, until this video)...I use hand signals on video - shaking my hand (like I'm standing on 2 Queens, or a thumbs-up...just something I can quickly identify and cut out knowing a better take is right after
I got tired of wearing out my hands... Went to Petco and bought a dog training clicker for about $2... 3 clicks = Starting/Ending video (for timing separate audio channel to camera) 2 clicks = starting a topic/paragraph/section 1 click = I messed up, doing it again I'll also put my hand over the lens and remove it if I'm going to make some verbal notes about editing as in, "I actually liked the second take better than the 4th take so check if I'm right and I just got an idea to do a video about puppies, write that down in our topic list!" It's saved my hands and a fortune in time! One more trick if you record time separate from video... I've noticed a dealy with OBS Studio so you can't actually line up the spikes in audio. When I start, I do 3 clicks then say "One, Two, Three." I over emphasize the mouth movement and drag the words out (Threeeeeee) then line up the audio with the mouth. One is the best word, two just verifies and the three should end when I relax my moutn.
@@businessoutsidethelines thank you for sharing this! I've been looking for a way other than clapping to edit to sound and this fits the bell, much appreciated :)
I'm using iMovie for now - one of your previous tips videos for iMovie really helped me get into it! The keyboard shortcuts are a revelation lol. Thank you for the tips here! I'm going to experiment with the crop in/outs - it definitely does give it more polish and adds a little visual interest as well!
Scott Urbach It’s quite good. I’m going to start filming videos on my IPhone 6s. I wish I could get such phone, but I started saving money for Canon g7x mark mini ii
Awesome tips! I'm editing my next video in Premiere Pro at the moment, and I'll definitely try all of these out. Anyone else editing a video right now?
There’s alot of learnings for editings. It always take me hours or day for just one video editing.... But I’m so happy and proud for every videos I edited. Hehe
I think it was Omar that had a previous tip about editing “backwards” - since generally your last take is the one you want. Probably be easier by looking at wave forms. Thanks for putting this out Nolan! Great stuff. Hey
I just made a review using only voice over. I really want to get better at taking heads. I tried using a free teleprompter but I need more practice looking into the lenses/ not obviously reading off the screen. This was helpful.
I use the free version of Davinci Resolve. So far, it has done everything I need. About to start a course on Davinci in the next week, so my videos should have much better editing!
Thank you SO much! Great "hacks", especially the very first one. I was already using the waveforms a little when finding clips, but like a dummy I've still been listening to each one and only skipping forward to the next clip when I hear a mistake. Just jumping ahead to the final take is a HUGE time saver. And I'll be honest, the main thing that gets in my way when it's time to shoot a new video is thinking about how much time I'm going to have to spend afterwards on editing. It's a huge motivation crusher some weeks. Cutting that time down ups my enthusiasm for doing the part of this that I actually like: the filming. So thanks!
I've been using this visual audio wave form editing technique for about 40 years when recording voice overs for radio. A lot of times I don't even have to listen to it, I can edit it simply by looking at the sine wave display. In addition, if you can see the entire sine wave of the audio, which apparently you can't in Final Cut, make your cuts exactly where the sine crosses the 0db line (zoom "way" in so you can get it exact.) That will help a lot in preventing spurious digital clicks.
Wondering if I'm the only one that was imagining what's behind that curtain 😃. Great content! The crop in and out effect is something I'll have to try.
I love initially editing my videos using the waveform at first. It speeds up the process so much. I can see exactly where my awkward pauses are and don't even really need to listen to know that's where I need to cut the video.
I use the same damn trick while editing that is using the audio track!!!!!!!!!!! Also learnt couple of good tips from this video PLEASE make more videos like these❤
That is a great video that can help most of us! I just wanted to add that adding some background music in some parts will make Talking Heads Videos even more interesting and you can just use music to set a mood and emphasize something! Thank you Think Media for your help!
Another idea that I've seen other UA-camrs use, is to have a B camera at a different angle and then just cut to the other camera whenever you make a cut.
yeah i like that but most of my fav channels dont even bother with that. ive seen that shit work way more effectively in home made pornography where extra angles for detail are more important for the viewer
Thanks. So helpful, as always. The cropping in and out is a really great technique. It took me ages to really get the hang of it (and not sure I’m fully there yet), but used correctly this can make a huge difference. And thanks so much for the information about Flow. I didn’t know about this.
Good video. I would have liked to see you demonstrate how you add bRoll and how it makes it flow Would also like to see you adding the crop on crop out
Can you guys explain better the tip number 2 B-Roll to cover cuts, definitely I need this. Because I make videos in english that is not my original language, and I messed up a lot with the cuts, bevause it doesn't feel smoothly. So I really appreciate if I can have how can I use this. I am using filmora9 to editing. Amazing video. Thanks 😊

Kinemaster and filmora 9
Camtasia and Filmora9. DaVinci Resolve was too confusing, and I refuse to use Adobe and pay them in perpetuity.
Final Cut Pro X!

Tip #6: Edit from the end and work backwards to the beginning.. has saved me a ton of time!
How does that work? Not sure I follow you on this one. I'm new to this so learning what and where I can. Thanks
@@shebert29 I guess @Yellow Productions is suggesting this so that you would hit your best line first most of the time.
I'm doing that, too. Saves a lot of time.
for real? i dont get it

Covering up cuts with B-Roll saves me at least 3 hours of time during both shooting and editing, EVERY TIME I make a video. I love it!

I’m so grateful for these final cut tutorials. I just started my UA-cam channel and I’m excited to try out the flow effect!
I needed this video so much especially since my videos will be talking head vids due to the pandemic and restrictions to go outside. Thank you!

Nope. All iPhone over here.

Julia Carter 6S is fine. Still shoots 1080p. I would just make sure your lighting is as good as possible to make up for the lesser camera.
Thanks for these great tips! 2 years later and still super helpful. Appreciate you!
Super helpful!! Thanks Think Media for inspiring me to start my own UA-cam channel! Going ALL IN & JUST PRESSING RECORD! 🤘

I use premier pro. Great video guys
The crop-in-out is super helpful. Gotta try that out in my long choppy videos! Thanks for the wonderful tip!

Yup!!😆
Is that the similar effect to which is discussed here? Flow effect...
