2008 camry does this regardless of weather. Not on every start but pretty frequent. Lots of white smoke upon start but goes away after 5,10 seconds drives fine after ..no smoke
Does the smoke constantly come out when reving it? If it is then it could be oil going past the rings. Maybe time for a rebuild. If your coolant is low or disappearing then it could be a head gasket
I have a st225 and on a cold start perfectly fine, the usual condensation mist and that’s about it, however when the car is warm and turned off, left for 10-15 mins, when starting the car again it smokes a thicker white for 5 seconds and then disappears, any thoughts on this cause ?

I have a 1999 Firebird that "smokes" moderately out of the exhaust when the weather is cold. It goes away when the car idles 15 minutes. Is this normal?
Hi, Yes, moderate exhaust smoke on cold starts can be normal, often just condensation evaporating. If the smoke is white and disappears as the car warms up, it's likely not a concern. However, if it persists or is blue or black, have it checked for potential issues.
I have 2014 Ford Ranger 2.2 xlt. When i start a car huge amount of white smoke came out from exhaust.after a how many seconds it disappeared. But i observed the engine oil is go empty. I have 3times to refill lube oil.what could be the reason?
What about white smoke at startup, regardless of whether it’s 90 degrees out or 20 degrees out, and it smells like burnt rubber? Doesn’t smell sweet whatsoever. What could that be? 2020 Ford Explorer. Service department at Ford couldn’t diagnose it but it’s been 7 months now and I hate that it does this. 😅
Hi, other than that is the vehicle running fine and how long does it typically last? White smoke at startup, regardless of outside temperature, accompanied by a burnt rubber smell in your 2020 Ford Explorer could be caused by a leaking valve cover gasket,Since the Ford service department hasn't been able to diagnose the problem, consider seeking a second opinion from an independent mechanic specializing in Ford vehicles for a more thorough diagnostic process and appropriate repairs.
I have a 2020 pathfinder and mine does this too! Doesn't matter the weather outside. Doesn't do it every time I start it, but frequently. Also has a burning rubber smell. I take mine to Nissan and they said possible sludge. Just wondering if there is any other ideas.
Yes, condensation in the exhaust system can contribute to rusting of Hi, the exhaust baffles and other internal components if the vehicle sits for an extended period, like a week or two. This happens because when the vehicle is not used regularly, the moisture from condensation doesn't get a chance to evaporate fully, as it would during regular driving when the exhaust system heats up. Over time, this trapped moisture can lead to corrosion and rust, particularly in climates with high humidity or during colder weather when condensation is more prevalent. Regular use of the vehicle and ensuring the exhaust system is in good condition can help minimize these effects.
It happens on my car only if i drive with high rpm like 100 or 120 kmph the following morning it blows excessive smoke for 10 seconds and dissapears my exhaust is clean and also drops some water I suspect pcv valve ?
Hi, White smoke from the exhaust, particularly after driving at high RPMs and then experiencing excessive smoke the following morning, can indicate moisture or coolant burning off, which may not be directly related to the PCV valve. The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve helps relieve pressure from the engine's crankcase and prevents oil from being blown out. If faulty, it can lead to oil leaks or oil burning, which typically produces blue smoke rather than white. White smoke is more commonly associated with coolant entering the combustion chamber, possibly due to a head gasket failure, cracked engine block, or a cracked cylinder head. However, if you're also noticing water dripping from the exhaust, this can be a normal byproduct of combustion, especially in cooler weather, as the exhaust system condenses moisture in the exhaust gases. For an accurate diagnosis, a thorough inspection by a mechanic is recommended, as they can check for coolant leaks, head gasket integrity, and the condition of the PCV valve.

@@HonestMechanicChannel yes , but when I drive regularly there is no smoke coming from exhaust but when I drive once or twice in week it happened. Is it fine??
Hello, if this also happens when the outside temperature is hot/warm, I would say, the valve stem seals are going bad, allowing a small amount of oil to leak into the combustion chambers. This oil burns off during startup, causing the white smoke. If the smoke clears up quickly and doesn't reappear during normal driving, it's likely not a serious issue.
My engine has a small knock along with the white smoke. If i rev the engine the ticking gets faster and the smoke gets thicker. Once the engine is at opetating temp the noise and smoke quits. This only happens when it is lower than 60°F outside.

Hi i have the same problem on BMW E90 white smoke when start up from cold and rpms are playing /like engine shaking for a few seconds/until warms up and smells of unburned diesel. Once warm all the smoke disappears.
Another cause could be diesel fuel in a gasoline engine. I once poured 5 gallons of gas in my out-of-gas truck from a container that had been used to fuel diesel tractors. It must have had a minute amount of diesel left in it, because the truck smoked like a chimney till it was flushed through with a fill up.
