Oil Change Mistakes Most People Make!!!
When do we put the heating on 5 min after starting the car
The thing about the oil viscosity is that these cars nowadays have ridiculously thin oil. 0w-16 isn’t uncommon to see now.
well damg my mail box is 3 miles away ? im goin have to just risk it . i aint walkin up hill and back tht far in the cold.
Ive sometimes forgotten to turn it off and ive had music on. Then, i went to pull out to accelarate, my fucking car has just started and im in the middle of the road like some twat waiting for the car to kick in.
CVTs are like auto transmissions when first offered, and similar to anything innovative. Unfortunately, they are beta tested on consumers with some manufacturers better than others in reliability. All those reliability issues will make CVT better in the future. They are not inherently bad like Trump. CVT is a fuel and cost economy component; they’re not a performance part, not yet, with 10-speed AT almost like a CVT in functionality. I think a CVT uses, in the beginning a rubber chain, but assume now the chain is metal, that isn’t heavy duty or for high horsepower engines. CVT is like plastic. The economics and functionality are already making them standard on all cars with engines of 199hp or less, or where price is a huge factor in that segment.
Legenda????????????
The engine produces condensation at any temp, even when its hot outside. If you have water in your oil and gas, you have bigger problems. The water burning off from the oil and gas was the biggest bunch of bullshit I've ever heard. I warm my car up in the winter time on colder days because who the fuck wants to drive down the road freezing their asses off. Idling for 15 mins or so in the morning to warm up your car isnt going to hurt a damn thing. Its no worse than being stuck in traffic.
So piston slap could be the knocking noise when my old Mitsi Lancer goes up the hill from my driveway when the engine is cold, happens more in winter than summer.
I would love to go back to the old days when you had less of this crap to try to reduce emissions. All that you had to do was keep your car in tune and simple maintenance !
The "idle warmup for 30-60" seconds doesn't sound like a good universal rule. What if it's not 0 C, but like -30 C? Nobody in this world would warm up for a minute and drive away in such conditions. I've seen videos about driving in Yakutia (where temperature often reach -50 C), people warm their cars up for much longer than 15 minutes.
I have a Chevy Equinox2014 and this engine power reduce happen to me Monday while driving back from home I notice my speed reduce and I could not drive more that 80km per hour then and and the traffic slowed down when o tried to drive off again and the car suddenly stop working it won’t come at first I thought it might be battery because it was freezing cold that day but it was not in the middle of the high way I had to tow the car back to my place I since then I have not tryed Turing on the car again I was about geting a new car until I saw this Vedio am thinking I save my self some money buy fixing it for now please advice what should do ? Tow it to mechanic ? Please help
I removed my two vvt solenoids to clean and tested them and after reinstalling 1 of them leaked so I inspected the O-ring and it was fine so I added a homemade gel-pro rubber fiber gasket and it still leaks. Wondering now if the it’s leaking after or above the o-ring where it connects to the flange or some have said the matting service may be damaged. Any thoughts? Thx
Thanks for this vid.. Just changed out the spark plugs and coils on my 2010 2.7L Tacoma. 240k miles. Plugged it into the reader and read the first two cylinders had an misfire code. Had the initial misfire happen, but it eventually buffed out and my truck went into a normal idle. after 30 seconds or so and a little throttle help. But 9/10 times it starts with a misfire and low spud, which eventually buffs back out into a normal idle. Sometimes, it'll start up with no misfire... After stating that I've replaced all plugs and coils (I did out of sheer mileage) since they've never been touched to my knowledge, I'm going to take a stab at replacing the fuel injectors to see if thats the main culprit. After that, I fear i'll have done all I'll be capable of doing with the tools and resources I have. Just trying to run down the process of elimination list, hoping its not the worst most expensive scenario I could have.
Can you rev the engine at about 1500 rpm’s while parked instead of driving around ?
Helpful. Thanks!
I have a diesel and majority of time I drive somewhere around 2100 - 2300 RPM. Even od highway I am on 5th gear out of 6 and drive at 2100 RPM. My DPF is so clean you could eat from it.
On the day I got my new 2019 Silverado, I permanently turned off the auto start. It had really bad hesitations at stop lights.
I HAVE A 2018 NISSAN ROUGE S...I BROUGHT IT BRAND NEW WITH 5 MILES... NOW I HAVE 234000 MILES ON IT..... ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION.... CHANGE FLUID EVERY 30,000 MILES...NO PROBLEM.... IT'S ALL BOUT MAINTENANCE
I completely disagree with the fourth one. There have been quite a few studies, running cheap gas from let’s say Thorton’s versus running gas from Exxon or Shell. The combustion is cleaner and there’s fewer deposits. I’ve seen it time and time again looking at inches being torn down.I pay a little bit more because of the additive package I get from Shell or Exxon. I’d rather pay a little more now versus having to work on the fuel delivery system later. Trust me injectors in a diesel or not cheap. What’s an extra buck once a week filling up versus thousands all at once.
Just warm up your car before a short drive, idle until temp gauge moves..I always do this before any drive.
2nd one isn't practical. You can't just jump in the car and drive off after 30 seconds when it's minus 7. Even if you cleared the windscreen it would just frost over again. I'll stick to letting it idle for 10 minutes with the fan windscreen setting on so it's all nice and warm when I get in with no frost. 👍
I turn on my car and I turn that shit off

Most mechanics I’ve asked about this tell me, start it, and drive, it doesn’t actually matter.
In the winter when you’re car is frozen solid ice on the windshield you start the engine slowly and let it run so you get heat on the windshield is that right?
Not exactly relevant, but I thought it was mildly funny. I instantly recognized the center console at 0:05; it's a 4th gen Honda Pilot, as my parents drive one
Can synthetic oil las for one year? i drive 2500 mile a year!
Yes read your owners manual
When I bought my new car the first thing the salesman did was show me how to turn that off.
How long do you have to drive for your engine to warm enough to turn off. He never said.
I go by 1) Coolant temp to operating ( 90 C in my car ) , 2) More than 6 km and more than 12 minutes of driving time - my oil is at about 65 C by that mark on cold days. I would not drive less than 6 km ( 3.7 miles ) if its colder than -5 C ( 23 F ) - thats a safe mark.
Man! These videos are AWESOME! SO INFORMATIVE and i love the added subtitles - makes it easier to follow along! Keep posting these types of videos PLEASE! I nerd out to this type of stuff because my previous car's tranny died at 160k miles and i want to keep my current dream car for as long as possible!
My trips are usually short, so best I can do is gentle driving & frequent oil changes. I'm not gonna warm up or take longer trips on purpose, it's a waste of my time and puts more wear from increased running time.
I lived like that for a couple years, when my trip to work was like 10 minutes. Can't say anything about engine wear, but it seemingly destroyed my battery quicker.
Start your car in -25, 30-60 then drive around frozen and cold and get frost bite 👍 But save 15-20K on your engine..no thanks! Also, my truck is at 2500 RPM at 120 km/h so…that’s not gentle lol
Most vehicles are at 2,500 rpm at 120 kph. Thats normal. I dont use my car on the highway unless the coolant is at operating temp ( 90 C ) and the car has been running and driving for at least 5 minutes.
When starting my car in freezing temps, I usually press the petal to the floor and then start the key. After about 2 mins of full throttle I slam my foot on the gas several more times to get the juices going
Man this video really helps on what to look for, i have a 2011 audi a5 2.0T. If i accelerate lightly, for example rolling from a light at Low rpms the car struggles and jolts but will clear up when im now in 2nd gear. Epc light will only flash and throw the engine light on. Any idea if anyone here can help out? First error code i got was mass airflow sensor. Replaced and still happened. Thanks everyone.
I felt bad when i just took joy drives going nowhere but i guess it helps getting rid of that carbon build up
But the latest cars recommended 0W20 or thinner here in a hot tropical island in Indonesia.
Short tip: Don't exceed the revs more than 50% of the total revs on cold enginss in the first 4-5 minutes of driving. Second, make sure to let your car hit operating temps at least once per day when driving.
I installed a by-pass device the week after I purchased my new truck. Took 30 minutes to install and cost $40.
What am i supposed to do if most of my trips are 10 to 15 minutes with the car? That is like 8 to 10 kms?
I have a Daihatsu . It gets hot my radiator is full but when it gets hot it fills the reservoir up . Then it blows it out of the overflow hose onto the ground. Is that a blowing head gasket.
Be careful if your vehicle has auto stop and start because on a 2016 Dodge Durango it has two batteries
This applies to pretty much any engine driven vehicle. I have a 2003 Kawasaki KLR650 that I’ve owned since new, and when it’s cold, use the choke to start, then turn the choke off ASAP. Go easy till the engine is up to operating temp. It has gone through three clutches, but runs like a champ at 80,000 miles. I have many high mileage bikes, and all run well following proper warm up and I’m a stickler for maintenance and using quality oil and replacement parts.
I never take a cold engine over 2000 rpm.
Manual 91 octane and above run 87 octane
Never drive less then 60 km a time
Yes! I'm a competent cold engine starter!
I would add consider an engine block heater. About 35 years ago I bought a book called “Drive it Forever” and everything covered here was in that book
Engines are built so crap today so they dont last even when you do everything you can do to look after them
