This song, is my absolute favorite cover song, not just from Metallica but out of all the cover songs out there, this one is my number one favorite. I first discovered this song on guitar hero Metallica and have loved it ever since I bought it when it first came out.

My favorite Metallica song by far. From 1994 to 2004 I was forced to live in a part of the world that I absolutely hated. I had a 70 min commute each way to work and would loose myself in the music I love during these times driving. This was my only escape from the hell that was this horrible place. From Christmas 1998 to my return to happiness and my favorite place on earth on March 2004, this song started my commute home. In 12 minutes my deepest depression would be put to bed as I’d lost myself in this masterpiece. I stopped listening to music in 2004 when I got back to my part of the world. I’ve worked from home for most of the last 15 years. Watching this video reminded me of the importance of song in our lives, and what a kickass medley this is. Thank You both for sharing you lives and music with us.

Hey guys, just a few things ... first of all, I love your videos, your reactions are so real! Your emotions to all the songs, whether your excited, happy, or sad, makes me feel the same way that your feeling! Secondly, I was introduced to Metallica about 20 or so years ago and was the first band I heard that was heavier than Meat Loaf! ... And justice for all was the album and the song One was the first song I started Air Drumming to ... now I Air Drum to pretty much every song I hear - metal, pop, whatever - and I was getting a lot of hate for it too, still do, but I don't care what they say! I like the music and that's my way of expressing my love for it! So don't listen to the haters about banging on imaginary drums, everyone has done the same thing to the air guitar, drums - I think - are more complex to do, especially in heavy metal if u use your feet at the same time! So if u feel like doing it, go ahead ... makes me happy knowing I'm not the only one that does it!
And lastly, the two of you are really good together! You have something really special and I hope I can find someone who makes me as happy as what you two are!

I used to rock out to this medley aswell back when I was in school! Only gotten into Mercyful Fate in the last years though, one has to get into the high vocals of the King first, just like with Judas Priest (better late than never), but I always loved these riffs... Only thing that I will say is that this is just a nice tribute song to Mercyful Fate, just nice. And yeah, Shermann and Denner would wipe the floor with Hetfield and Hammett. This is just my opinion, so all of you Hammett fanboys don't be offended. Original is 99.99% always better.
P. S. I'm not saying this because "I'm not a Metallica fan". I'm a Metallica fan, and when I say "fan", I mean first four or five albums. Those albums are great and important, those albums after the fifth one are not that important in my opinion, nor I'm not a big fan at all.
I feel the same. I'm sure the guys of Metallica did this cover to give props to MF, not to compete which band does the better job. And if this medley gets more people listening to MF and KD, it's just awesome.

I'm so sorry about your son. I hope these videos are helping you heal.
I know this is maybe random but given your being health and wellness pro's I would really appreciate any advice you might have to give. I was diagnosed with lymphedema in my legs back in 2006 due to a really bad case of poison ivy. It almost killed me via infections and though I haven't had a major infection since 2010 I gained a lot of weight duet to how swollen my legs once were. I hit 950lbs in 2010 and though I've lost a lot over the years I still weigh about 450. I have two hernias and my knees are shot. It's getting harder and harder to get around and I just feel so depressed some days due to how little I feel I'm accomplishing.
My friend and family tell me I'm doing better but I've been stuck in one room since 2007 and hardly ever go anywhere. I'm scared that if I don't lose weight if something happens to my caretaker I won't be able to take care of myself and will end up in a home or worse. Whatever advice you may have I will appreciate so much.

Metallica finished the last couple of songs for "Ride the Lightning" in Mercyful Fate's rehearsal room, which was right next to Sweet Silence Studios (Copenhagen, Denmark). They were obviously huge fans of MF, but also became good friends.
By the way, I wonder why they slightly changed lyrics like the line in "Into My Coven": "Take this white cross and go to the center of the ring", originally "...to the middle of the ring".
Interesting question. I had same. I guess that sometimes happens with artists like James who uses his voice and his diction so carefully. Centre center of the ring flows better from the ‘r’s’ where ‘middle’ breaks the flow up. Imho. Rich

Metallica did 'Garage Inc.' to give back to the bands they were most inspired by. I know one of the guys from Mercyful Fate said that the royalties from the Metallica medley on that album were more money than the band had made in their entire career.
You should react to King Diamond "Abigail" the entire album. Let her read the lyrics along while you play the album. It's a great concept album. King Diamond at his finest.
So true, a masterpiece both storywise and instrumentally. But the story of #KingDiamond Abigail goes on #KingDiamond Abigail II: The Revenge.
This is better than the actual mercyful fate versions of these songs. I know this is just a mash up of basically their first album but I'll take this over the original.

Axl rose..she went yeah yeah you said but who sang along i said i did...she went music class Monday evening pronto lol

I think I have previously mentioned that I had an opportunity to get Garage Days on vinyl for about $100AU back in the early 90s, I permanently have a large bruise on the back of my leg from the kicking I have given myself over the years.

I second this. It has a special place in my heart. This song was written about Mikael Akerfeldt's (singer/songwriter for Opeth) ex wife, but it echoes my feelings towards a member of my family I no longer speak to. It makes me tear up everytime I hear it.

It's a good cover, but for whatever Metallica brings to it, Hetfield can't hold a candle to King Diamond on the vocals... Touching background. Honestly though listen to the original Mercyful Fate stuff. I don't think they have deep list of great songs, or deep lyrics, but the dual guitars and King Diamond's vocals are pretty great. A little cheesy, but great.
But the originals is so much better ;)
