It's funny how life works. I'm almost 50 now. Some of my friends don't "get" my music tastes. They're listening to "Duran Duran" or some such garbage and I'm still tuned in to Mercyful Fate/Crowbar/Pantera etc... I'm also a classically trained pianist...so they really can't figure me out!lol! I heave slightly when I hear the newer "metal" bands. Bleah...they all sound the same to me. Give me Maiden, Priest, KD...you know the rest. "IF IT'S TOO LOUD...YOU'RE TOO OLD"!! Love seeing bands get together like this. You can tell Metallica truly appreciates KD and the boys and their help when they were first starting out. ROCK ON!!
So... youre classically trained and call Duran Duran 'crap'? Im not buying it, because Im a musician and while I can see not liking Duran Duran, I cant really see a trained musician calling it 'crap'. Especially not a pianist.
They're crap to me. Then again ALL music is simply judged through the ears of the listener. It and the electro-80's as a whole are nails on the chalkboard to me. No redeeming musical quality to most of it IMHO. They were as popular for their looks as their sound back in the days of "Tiger Beat" magazines and such.
+TakeDeadAim Then youre definitely not 'classically trained', because such training is based in objective qualities, of the aural arts, which is exactly opposite, of everything you just said.

You can tell metallica is “finding” Merciful’s pocket that whole set- total respect
Lars: 4 of the 5 guys of that band are standing right there
audience: Korn? Avenged Sevenfold? SOAD?
Lars: Please welcome Mercyful Fate!
audience: who is that painted guy ?!?!?!?
Awesome xD
Dareios soieraD dont put soad next to these pls
Dareios soieraD jajaja there is a sea of distance betwween Mercyful and "these" bands¡¡ Hail to Mercyful and the king¡¡¡
fernando miguel leyva mtz No shit?
+Dareios soieraD rofl yeah about right
WOW, King Diamond can still hit those high notes! Unbelievable! Love the way he sings! So unique!
We were slamming to this great stuff in 86. Metallica got a lot of influence from Fate. Brings back some memories.. Good shit.
6:10 Damn. Nice touch James!
I’d be absolutely freaking out if I were there. Two of the best metal bands ever on the stage at the same time!
1:56 lars:eighteen years,something like that?
King diamond: yea dumbass yea
2011 minus 1993 =
KIM RUZZ is one of the most underrated drummers EVER
Rob Shelton You my friend are a true Mercyful Fate fan.
He is my favorite drummer. I listen to Mercyful Fate every day 🤘😝🤘
Totally right
Damn straight !!!
Kim Ruzz is awesome drummer !!!
King Diamond's voice is still ace after all of these years plus that surgery. One of the best voices in metal if you ask me.
this enshrines why I love metal. Two groups for opposite sides of the planet united by the love and passion for a style of rock and roll to entertain and let us become members of one massive family of metal heads! Respect
Lars looks like Anthony Hopkins.
lmao hahhahahahaaa how true!
Bet he smells like Hannibal Lecter.
He should wear that bite-proof mask and a blue jumpsuit.
Hahhahahah
the king himself - and - a few servants ^^
+Dave Holden
They're crap.
+TakeDeadAim
Then youre definitely not 'classically trained', because such training is based in objective qualities, of the aural arts, which is exactly opposite, of everything you just said.
TakeDeadAim I can't believe you know people that still listen to Duran Duran. At least with 80s era metal there is a distinct sound you can't find in today's music.
The all came to ear Nothing Else Matters in live, and they got to see a legendary heavy metal band they never heard of, and probably never ever will again...
This is the most amazing video that came up in my UA-cam stream on Halloween. I LOVE Merciful Fate! They were always friends with Metallica through Lars. Great job both bands doing this AMAZING poppuorie of MF!
0:10 SABBATH
Haha yeah I clicked the timestamp and I was so confused about what you meant and I heard a familiar riff in the background lol
FUcking love Mercyful Fate and Metallica!! Though I'd seen all the videos from the Anniversary shows, but somehow I missed this one.. SO awesome.
É incrível como King Diamond consegue mesclar o vocal agudo com limpo ao mesmo tempo. Fora o lírico que esse cidadão também é capaz de executar.
King Diamond's voice is simply amazing.
A once in a lifetime event. RIP TIM...
Mercyful Fate Classic Memories of Heavy metal Forever....
Long live King Diamond! Ahhhhhhhh! Love it! Thanks for posting this!!
This is brilliant in so many ways!
Good to see Mercyful Fate onstage. Saw King Diamond 2015 Mayhem Fest and going to buy a ticket for Psycho Las Vegas 2022, as Mercyful Fate will be there. 🤘🎸😈💀
So awesome.. I still can't believe the 30th anniversary show actually HAPPENED, it was like a dream!
Hail to Mercyful Fate....
long live the King
I would sacrifice my first-born to take the place of someone who got to go to one of these shows.
Bringing the blood of a newborn child I guess? 🥴
awesome king
This show was 55 miles away from me and I had just watched Metallica earlier in April that year at the big four in Indio. Can’t believe I missed this show .
I’ve seen King Diamond a few times, but never had the opportunity of seeing merciful fate but that’s one band that’s still on my list to see. Love them and this would’ve been incredible.
When I first decided to collect vinyls in the beginning of the pandemic, I walked into a small record shop and found a Mercyful Fate Live in '93 for 40$. Probably could have stopped my collection with that first amazing score!
Awesome sounding video of this Metal Royalty performance... Its weird to see James not being the center of attention and just blending in with the others... Also high praise to King Diamond for the vocals with no effects on them, he's killing it!
Fucking serious chills. This was my high school years on one stage.
Mercyful Fate are timeless legends! Hail the true King! King Diamond!!!!!!!!! \m/
I shed a tear due to the shear awesomeness of what’s happening here.
Haven't been a Metallica fan since Justice but I have to hand it to them for bringing King and Mercyful Fate to a much wider audience.
Half of those people don’t know The fucking legend In that room I’m jealous 😩
EU SIMPLESMENTE AMO ESSA DESGRAÇA CHAMADA KING DIAMOND! O VOCALISTA MAIS SIMBOLICO DA MINHA VIDA, O CARA QUE MAIS REPRESENTOU O METAL QUE EU OUVI DESDE PIVETE! Seja King Diamond ou Mercyful Fate, eu SEMPRE AMEI ESSE CARA!!!!! Q COISA MAIS MARAVILHOSA ESSE VIDEO!!!!!
