I definitely see your perspective here and agree in a lot of cases. I like Make Art Now's style of scripted voice over with interstitials of vlog segments. You sort of get the best of both worlds. Yet, for me I started my channel speaking off the top of my head and it was so easy ro create but so difficult to edit (because of my meanderings)... so then I started to use bullet point ideas which then made the a-roll edit so much easier. Then Gerald convinced me to buy a teleprompter and i have this exact Desview...and as soon as i started scripting videos, my channel started to get some traction...and now its become my format, but id love to add in more casual vlogging bits. However, i end up rambling so much i barely use the bits i record. Yet, you have inspired me to keep trying!
The desview is excellent. I use it for my main channel mostly. Which is great. The videos come out really nice. I just really like to sort freestyle my videos sometimes, talk from the heart. but I also recognize the thing where you run off script :)
@@TSCameraGear honestly, it's amazing how good you are unscripted and the fact that English is not your first language, it makes it even more impressive!
It's one year later since this was released, are your thoughts still the same? I have been scripting word-for-word in my videos as well, because there are a lot of technical details to cover (i do tech product reviews) and I don't want to keep rambling / spend to much time during editing out fillers. But just like you, I also do hope I can show a bit more authenticity. Becca Farsace is one UA-camr that I look up to a lot, because her B-rolls are like super mini-vlogs, which enhances the authenticity. But for A-rolls and narrations, i have the feeling that she is using a teleprompter
For this channel i dont use a teleprompter. But for my main channel, i do use it. @TomScryleus I think its just easier and makes a better video. The trick is to talk naturally while reading.
Hi TS, thanks for the video. I have a few questions if I may please? 1) Is this DesView compatible with my Sony Alpha ZV-E10L (which is the same as your camera I think)? 2) I can't find the specific DesView model you're using in this video on Amazon, you haven't got a link have you please? And 3) Can I zoom in up to 30mm on my Sony camera onto myself without the rim of this teleprompter being in the sight of the video do you know? Sorry I'm fairly new to UA-cam and also have no idea how teleprompters work, how to attach them, or which is best. I've never used them but I cover such complex subjects that after 10 months of youtubing, I think I need one. Thanks, Joe.
The shirt. Sometimes on the inside so its not vissible. Its funny, i hate to show the mic on camera, but i really dont care or mind if i see other youtubers displaying their mic in the shot. 🙂
I have one that reflects my tablet, sits on a tripod and the camera is sort of behind/inside it, and it works great, I'm just terrible at reading from it. Working on that.

Where do you pin your Rode mic?

i think it is not boring these type of videos. informative and relatable. so on point in my opinion.
Well it can be a hit or miss in my experience. Sometimes I get off point :)

A bad example for using telepromter is the current Android Authority. Gerald Undone is a good example.
Gerald is really talented,
Despite knowing he does, i never notice it.
