  • We're finally benchmarking and reviewing the Powercolor RX 5700 XT Red Devil, featuring the AMD Navi GPU. This review tests the Red Devil vs. Sapphire Nitro, MSI Gaming X, & more.
    Sponsor: Buy Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut (Amazon - geni.us/LCcsv)
    Article: www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews...
    Buy the PowerColor RX 5700 XT Red Devil on Amazon: geni.us/nZHuxR
    Buy Sapphire's RX 5700 XT Nitro (Amazon): geni.us/Wybi
    Or Gigabyte's more normal Gaming OC 5700 XT (Amazon): geni.us/BNWJl4
    In this review of the Powercolor RX 5700 XT Red Devil, we look at thermals (temperature) for Junction, GDDR6 memory, and VRM MOSFETs, particularly as compared vs. other RX 5700 XT cards. The reference card, Sapphire Pulse, Sapphire Nitro OC+, ASRock Taichi X, MSI Evoke, Gaming X, Gigabyte Gaming OC, and others are all on the charts.

      To be honest after I read reviews I also look at warranties. Both the Nitro and Red Devil only have a 2 year warranty. I never used to worry about warranties but after being denied one from EVGA because I was only a few months past the warranty period when my expensive card died I really expect more.

    Keep in mind I'm coming from an R9 390X that wouldn't stop power cycling for whatever reason.
    Seeing the "auto overclock GPU" setting was interesting because the very first time tried it, AMDs software said I hit 875mHz on the GDDR6 and 2036 on the GPU after playing some Team Fortress 2 @ 1440p 144hz. Shoulda gotten a screenshot, but the point in telling all of this is GN did an amazing review and while this card is a bit overhyped imo, y'all reviewed this card in a way that was simply neutral and didn't/ hardly catered to the hype at all.

    More non-XT card reviews please! Especially the Mech OC and PowerColor Dual Fan (basically no English reviews anywhere) because they are cheaper options than the Pulse and Red Dragon.
    I'd also be interested in whether the cards with vertical grills (e.g Red Devil & Red Dragon) result in higher motherboard/SSD/CPU temperatures than the those with horizontal grills (e.g. Pulse & PowerColor dual fan). My motherboard (and others) have the M.2 slot directly below the graphics card so the idea of a GPU blasting heat into the case above and below is doesn't appeal but maybe it's insignificant?

    I would really be curious how a reference card with an aftermarket cooler compares to the custom cards. I've seen videos showing how much one of the aftermarket coolers can improve the reference card. But there are never any custom cards for context. The reference card + cooler is cheaper than some of the custom cards, so it could be a nice way to get similar performance to the custom cards on a bit of a budget.

    Nitro is the card I wanted, but I have supported Manchester United since 1979, i.e., the Red Devils. If the card was red with black and white trim I would be getting this one. Totally rational. I got held up getting a new GPU because I just had to replace my studio reference monitors. Even if you do not create music on a computer or play guitar etc, monitors are the way to go. Music and soundtracks sound so good thru reference monitors. Prices for 5700XT have not come down yet. I have a RX590, so might wait a bit.

    The good thing about the nitro+ is you can get potentially much lower thermals then this card because sapphire on the nitro+ used a copper heat plate as a direct die heatsink which allows the use liquid metal instead for lower temps but Red Devil was my second choice regardless if the nitro+ did not exist.

    • @cswann8
      @cswann8 Рік тому

      I know...2 years old. But I feel like I should post this. I've added liquid metal to a GPU with copper cold plate and it's a bad idea. For CPU's that have a full silicon seal on the heat spreader, it's fine because there is not exposure to air under that heat spreader. But on a GPU cold plate the liquid metal will dry out after a year or so.

    • @forog1
      @forog1 Рік тому

      @@cswann8 you know. This happened and noticed all the same things about under the heat spreader and everything lol I had the liquid metal on my laptop and a few weeks ago was wondering why it was over heating 90c on the gpu (1080m 200w modal) in seconds, after repasting 66c max. Turned out the liquid metal had dried out. Put thermal paste and all was good again. Though it was a 4 year old application but still lol. Learning! I'd still use liquid metal but I just need to stir it around more often now. Maybe I'll tend to it once a year because its still worth using i say. And never had a shorting issue.
