I think you should put the card volume graph on a log scale because decibels are. The differences are kind of deceptively small otherwise

@@sdh2383 u can get the normal tomahawk it already has a flashback button so no need for a first or second gen processor its great feature and very handy all u need is a usb stick and the right bios file :D

@@theelitist3435 I went with them and got an RX470 Red Devil years back and everyone said PowerColor made cheap shit. Well, it's been overclocked since day one and still runs perfect and cool a good 2+ years later. Customer support has been great too, they e-mailed me an unlocked bios so I can really overclock the card. And the color scheme? Come on, it's sick! Red and black, a bit of nice "evil" minimal themeing. I get it if all you want is unicorns shooting rainbows out of their asses inside your PC case, but I find that shit to be beyond silly and attention seeking... and you pay more for it.

I have an R9 270 PowerColor that is 7 years old. Still runs extremely cool. I just bought the PowerColor Red Devil 5700 XT to replace it. I can't wait to see what it can do.
There is no way i would buy a rtx2070 over the rx5700xt Red Devil . I could care less about the Ray Tracing garbaage. Raw horsepower and performance from the 5700xt has already been purshased and will be here tomorrow to pair with my 3700x and 32gb of 3600mhz Giel Super Luce Ram!! Im excited!!

Forget about ray tracing for a moment, if a rtx 2070 is priced the same as a 5700xt, raw perfomance is still on the nvidia and the nvidia becomes better value. At the end it's relative to their prices at a given time. In the uk, some AIB 5700 xt are as expensive as AIB 2070 SUPER! makes no sense.

If you put something in quotation marks it should be what was actually said. What Jen-Hsun Huang said was “At this point, it’s a foregone conclusion that if you’re going to buy a new graphics card, it’s going to last you two, three, four years, and to not have ray tracing is just crazy.”
He made no mention of 2019 but did specifically talk about next year.

Give us good performance first with raytracing at a good price and after that we can say it matters! Till then I see raytracing as an expensive crap shit!

AMD sponsors a game => no bias, no tricks, no gimmicks, just optimization for any graphics card and sometimes an extra optimization (like Rapid Packed Math or better Vulkan-support) for AMD which does not harm Nvidia. The TressFX (fancy hair) in Tomb Raider is a great example, other examples are Bioshock Infinite, Resident Evil 2, Dirt Rally...
Nvidia sponsors a game => proprietary secret code which is developed with the intention that only the latest Nvidia cards can run it well. If it looks the same while increasing the setting with 2/4x, increase it if only the latest Nvidia can handle it. That hair effect Witcher 3 is a good example. Other examples are Assassin's Creed (many versions), Ghost Recon Wildlands and Final Fantasy XV.
AMD just optimizes games, Nvidia rigs the game.
What about Forza Horizon 4 where 5700 XT destroys 2080 Ti?

As I said, that game just utilizes the AMD hardware well without punishing the Nvidia hardware in any way. This much is obvious, Nvidia cards perform well too for this game, like any game which AMD partnered for.
For Nvidia it always resulted in bad gaming performance on both AMD and Nvidia cards except for the most expensive newest Nvidia cards. There is bad optimization and usage for sure, in The Witcher 3 they would have gotten a much better result with less precice hairs (not a visible difference!) and many more hairs. In Far Cry 4 there was horrible stutter on a HD 7850 until you cleared all the enemy camps and got rid of the Nvidia smoke. In AC Revelations you also had horrible stutter due to the Nvidia smoke. We can only speculate to what extend Nvidia deliberately selects a strength of Nvidia and weakness of AMD for its software, we do know that the results are bad. Finaly Fantasy XV also is a good exapmle: Hairworks got even applied when you disabled it and a lot of Gameworks was active for objects which aren't visible to the player.
Contrast this to Tomb Raider. AMD had the power to abuse it and to have only that nice hair for AMD cards. AMD did not do this! While Nvidia kept all of its Gameworks and precursors (like that smoke) AMD directly opensourced its TressFX and within a few months after the release of the game Nvidia had even better performance with AMD's TressFX than AMD itself. AMD could also have designed TressFX in a way that utilizes anything which AMD is better at than Nvidia, like async compute. AMD didn't.
I already gave an example of how AMD optimizes in a way to benefit AMD hardware without harming Nvidia hardware: Rapid Packed Math. In case you don't know, for RPM AMD puts two 16 bit floating point values in one 32-bit instruction with over 90% efficiency. That is a great way to get 5-10% extra performance (depending on the game) without harming the competitor. RPM was used for Far Cry 5 and Wolfenstein2.

Thanks. I like Vulkan a lot more but It is difficult to tell to what extend Vulkan is superior to DX12, a problem with most implementations of DX12 so far is that those games use a very limited featureset of DX12, the code for these games were originally written for DX11. However, they should use Vulkan, without a doubt. Vulkan has a great proven track record and Vulkan works on every platform: Windows, Linux, PS4/PS5, X1, Nintendo, Apple...
The developers wouldn't need to do any porting any more. I think that it also ia valuable that Vulkan is open source, the developers can read the code, see how it works and potentially better optimize because of it. The developers could also add code to Vulkan (of course after an approval process). Imagine that all developers would do that...
Generally speaking Vulkan and DX12 are superior to OpenGL and DX11 because the CPU needs to do a lot less work to tell the graphics card what to do to render the graphics and the work which the CPU needs to do is divided over multiple cores at the same time, not only one core as is the case for DX11 and OpenGL. I suspect that they will use Vulkan a lot more for the next generation of consoles, it is the only way to not waste a lot of those 8 Zen-cores in it. On paper the PS4 also has 8 cores but that is not comparable in any way.

Most 2070S are at least 100 bucks more expensive. I don't think they are worth it as the gain in a wide variety of games is more like 5% overall. Navi pretty much makes 2060 (Super) and 2070 (Super) obsolete at their current prices.

I really want to get this over the 2060 super I bought, but it’s not in stock anywhere and is about €40 more expensive from the short time it was actually available. Getting a reference 5700xt makes absolutely no sense. Kinda sad that these cards aren’t available anywhere

My first GPU after the GTX 660 to was a RX480 8GB Red Devil. I wasn't lucky enough to get the one with the Pentagram on it, but look back on it fondly.
The solid build that for the price sticks to the memory prominently.

@@higler. Not overpriced at all, in fact it's cheaper than some other options like the offered by Gigabyte. So far I've had bad experiences with MSI, neutral with XFX, and very good with Sapphire, and the cost the same as the counterparts, but they are durable.
Realistically anything besides the reference cooler will be more than adequate. At that point with the AIBs, it just comes down to which aesthetic you prefer.
Personally, I'll be getting the Sapphire Nitro+ when it comes out unless they completely shit the bed and change their overall look.

I don't think I have seen the 5700xt tested on an X570 platform with pcie4.0 yet. Will this make a difference considering it's designed for this platform.
My understanding is that the difference for gpus b/w pcie 3.0 and 4.0 is going to be negligible currently. I think you will see bigger gains for things like nvme drives.
Pcie 4.0 is made for the future, the difference between 2.0 x16 and 3.0 x16 is close to thing (around 1% more or less), it would change with time but not today.
Jay went over this recently the GPU that uses the most bandwidth is the 2080ti and it is barely reaching the peak of PCI-E 3.0 x8 so even that is not touching the x16 lane. so far the only thing fully supporting PCI 4.0 is the newer m.2 Sata drives on PCI 4

something i noticed while looking at this card is that one thing i like about Asus' "remastered" Strix design for Turing and Navi is that frame between PCB and heatsink. don't know if it actually does anything for the card's rigidity, i don't own one of those, but at least it looks confidence-inspiring when buying a massive triple fan card

Hey, I see that in some other reviews that the red light (can’t change color) bleeds through to the front and gives a slight red glow. I have an all blue setup so this would bother me. Is there a way to cover up those lights that light up the display port and hdmi ports? Great video!
Maybe because AMD imprinted over time with drivers optimization, but it's already a good card I think
That Sapphire card looks and performs really nice! And under the heatsink is a real "cool" cooler style for the other components (not the gpu die). This one looks real nice and I think has a bit better VRM setup but the temps and noise are close, but the red devil is 30-40bucks more...

Good to see this card is getting a lot of attention from everyone, Powercolor are a great brand and I should know I have an RX 580 Red Devil in my PC and it rocks. Bet if you switched the bios mode to silent your results would look a lot different, for the better sound wise.

Does the ZeroFan mode work, before the Driver is loaded (for example when you are in the BIOS of the Mainboard)? This annoys me a bit with my Vega 56 Pulse as I can not tweak my silent case fan profiles in BIOS, because the Vegga56 will always run pretty loud, while I'm the BIOS. With my older Palit GTX1070, the zero fan mode is working, no matter if a driver is loaded or not.
I grabbed on of these after much research and stress trying to make the big decision on my GPU for the next year.
The Red Devil is a beast and the fear or drivers (at least at this time) are super solid.
In some pre-2017 games I’ve been hitting 4K/60 with max settings.

I have a completely off topic question. Why are display ports fairly uncommon on AM4 motherboards? I am wanting to use the 3400G without an additional graphics card but, I'm finding motherboards that actually support that potential are few and far between. Is the technology to provide display port really that difficult or expensive to implement?

Got my self a 5700xt red devil, it is pretty silent in OC stock setting. but I think the default cooler setting lets the card get a bid warm.Undervolting a bid and doing a custom cooler curve. running assassins creed odyssey at max setting, temps at around 50-55.noise lvl still very good.

Could it be because its much is harder to cool 250mm2 7nm vs a much bigger 12nm Nvidia GPU.
Since I'd been looking to upgrade my gpu for quite some time I decided to do a bunch of research and check out some reviews and benchmark scores from many different channels. With what I was looking to spend I'd narrowed it down to two different gpu's, either a 2070 Super or a 5700XT. In the end I decided to go with the 5700XT because the level of performance you get for the money as far as new GPU's go is unmatched. I'd narrowed it down to the Red Devil or the Sapphire Nitro+ which are the cream of the crop of the 5700xt cards in my opinion. In the end I went with the Nitro + and its a fantastic card, amazing performance in a gpu that runs cool and quiet.
I've gotta say that in my quest to dig up as much info into making a good purchase I was surprised to see how many big PC tech review channels are biased against AMD gpu's. Some channels barely reviewed the reference model while skipping the partner cards altogether. Some reviewers will show all Nvidia cards benchmarks when they do reviews and never present or show any of the AMD cards, I don't know if they're afraid of speaking up against Nvidia in fear of not getting review samples or what but I got this feeling that to some PC tech reviewing channels it is as if AMD gpu's don't exist, or they exist when the 5600 model is being compared to the 2070 or something like that. I've owned GPU's from both team green and red throughout my life and have always purchased what I thought was the best thing for my needs based on price and performance. I'm thankful to those tubers who aren't afraid to speak the truth and review things for what they are even if they have to go and buy the GPU's themselves because big corporations won't send them any because they didn't lick their boots.
He or she who is willing to do their research and due diligence will find the truth after some digging around, since now days we all have a voice. It's just sad to see review channels claiming to be unbiased when in reality they're nothing more than salesmen for the highest bidder or allow their personal bias to tamper with what should be an honest and fair review. This is not aimed at Greg it's just me expressing what I observed in my quest to find a new GPU.
Nice comparisson, I understand the RX 5700 XT Gaming OC will use a variant of the 2070S cooler. Being that 2700S the coolest AND quietest of the bunch, I'm really intrigued as to how the RX 5700 XT variant will perform.

Yes of course just go into wattman and you can undervolt from there. And not really it's like overclocking but backwards. I like to oc and undervolt and the same time so I set a certain speed i want to get lets say 2ghz and find the lowest voltage needed to run it stable. Its just trial and error for the most part just like overclocking.

@@tiborbaranyay8270 if you have the blower style then you should set up a fan curve to tolerable levels mind you it will still be more noisy compared to the aibs like this power colour one. My vega 64 blower was pretty quite and ran cool after undervolting and setting up a custom fan curve.q

The reference rx5700xt goes well with sff builds with minimal airflow nobody complained about the gtx reference cards and they weren’t as efficient

Hey, PowerColor RX 5700 XT Red Devil owners. How is the drivers lately, have you had any black screens/blue screens or fps issues including stuttering? (Thinking of buying it)
latest updates: it runs every game perfectly except cod cold war.
always get error code 8887a0005 driver timeout error.
maybe the problem is the game itself. sometimes i get the error after 5 mins of gaming sometimes after 2 hours of gaming. still no solution found

So the gigabyte rtx 2070 s is 10 degrees cooler while still being quieter, when consuming only 7w less in your charts. I wouldn't say the red devil does is right if gigabyte makes a cooler that is both quieter and 10 degrees cooler. Can you get your hands on the gigabyte rx 5700 xt gaming oc by any chance? Because if the cooler is the similar to the 2070 s then the red devil is not good at all.

@@roguekos9068 You could be paying 100 or so more than the other models for the strix. Such a waste. Strix cards are great, but almost everywhere they're not just a bit overpriced, they're ridiculous. You may as well go up another card, or just not bother.

Why didn't you mention the Silent-Bios at all and instead recommend an Nvidia-Card, if noise is the top priority? Seems a bit misleading to me.
Because the card performs worse in the silent config for obvious reasons. And I did mention it... Nothing misleading here. I'd prefer higher FPS over a quieter card and I assume most of you do as well.
Would’ve been nice to include a 2060 super instead of the normal 2060. Though, the 2060 super is pretty similar to a normal 2070.

In germany, 2070 is 450€ - the super is 520. The 5700xt is 440-520. wtf!
With these AIB cards finally coming to market, the 5700XT is turning out to be really strong competition. I'm 99.9% sure this will be my next upgrade.
