Every reactor watcher's favorite hobby...watching reactors reacts to Jinjer....
Haha!
6 years and counting for me. lol
indeed haha
This, and watching people trying Nordic salty liquorice. And honourable mentioning, watching people listening to Nightwish for the first time.
at least one hour a day :D
The more comments like "this is so pretty" and "what an angelic voice" that happen before THAT moment, the better. I will never get tired of reactions to this song.
Ha! I was shocked.
Biggest slap in the face is the drummer is a pianist who was like "I bet I could drum for ya'll". I suggest "Pit of Consciousness Live". Amazing stuff.
Get out of here! No way.
@@teckreactions yes, classically trained pianist who taught himself drums by watching YT vids so that he could join the band.
vlad is a great drummer bro
He plays guitar too.
@@teckreactionsthere is a video on UA-cam where he plays Rachmaninov.
"Perennial"(Live at Wacken Open Air 2019), you won't be disappointed.
yeah, perennial is the second one to see to notice that yes, she can do it live.
On it!
Yep Perennial at Wacken 2019 is top tier. It's such a good live performance that I prefer it to the studio recording. If you want to see Tatiana shine you need to watch this one.
Adding my vote for this next.
@@teckreactionsBe sure it's the Live at Wacken 2019 version. It's legendary.
Don't take my word for it. You'll see. :)
I have been a fan of Jinjer for 6 years now. This tract does have some post-production work added. Jinjer does their best work in concert. Tatiana is the front woman and lead singer for the band. She is a world-class growler and can switch and modify her vocals in a nanosecond. That is Tatiana's superpower. Every song is different, and they never gets boring or stale. Jinjer is one of the best bands in progressive metal today.
Awesome.
They're honest with their stuff, the video description tells they added layers after first recording it in one take.
They didn't expect it to blow up, just wanted to showcase their then new drummer to the world by remaking an older song.
@@teckreactions - The difference in feel and groove between the original and this version is so big that I don't think anyone ever listens to the original anymore. 😄
And they sound just as good live. They really bring the energy.
@@module79l28Yeah. I intentionally skip the old album version. And I never skip Jinjer songs.
The drummer, Vlad, has a Jazz background, hence the kit and open handed playing. The whole band is extremely technical and very good.
I can totally see that.
@@teckreactions word is that he is also self taught. Not sure on that. He is a classical pianist by training however.
@@MoreThanDanny Correct, a classically trained pianist and also a pretty good guitar player. The band he was in before Jinjer lost a drummer and they couldn't find a replacement so he gave up the guitar spot and taught himself drums.
Vlad has said that his drum setup and style is just what felt natural to him, and was not inspired by anything or anyone in particular. He isn't a drummer first, he is a pianist and guitarist who just happens to also play drums and this is what works for him personally
@@neilpatrickhairless Honestly, he was probably "inspired" by his piano background. Low and almost even plained likely feels more familiar without having an outside presence (teacher etc.) pushing a more traditional setup
Of all the Jinjer reactions, everyone talks about the vocals or the bass. Finally! The drummer gets some love! Love me some Vlad!
He’s great!
Let`s be real, all of them are AAA+
You can totally tell when reactors play instruments versus just listening to music.
I bet
I love how with Pisces reactions the more a reactor is musically knowledgeable the more they quickly get over the shock and immediately switch to appreciating what they're hearing. Reactors who don't have a musical background find it harder.
I loved it.
Teacher Teacher!!!! Judgement and Punishment!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
On it.
Oh my, Teacher Teacher is awesome!
Definitely teacher teacher, official video. but for Judgement and Punishment Tatiana's one take vocal performance version. Not the music video for that one.
I love seeing the amazement and joy on people's faces as they discover Jinjer. They deserve all of the flowers. I'd super recommend looking into their history.
Tatiana Shmayluk is self taught, she does a good interview with Elizabeth Zharoff, explaining her style and how she learnt to do the growl. "Perennial"(Live at Wacken Open Air 2019) is one to get your teeth into
Sweet.
Ah, yes, the Charismatic Voice interview. Elizabeth is awesome; such a genuine person.
@@johndeeregreen4592Also did a very good interview with Ren and David Draiman.
@@johndeeregreen4592 don't forget about Ukrainian Metal Bands channel. All kinds of old interviews and behind the scenes stuff on Jinjer there.
@@richardlyons7582, and Geoff Castellucci, too. If you don't know who he is, he is one of the best bass singers on the planet. He is a super low bass naturally, uses techniques to go even deeper, while also having a 5 octave range, too.
Jinjer - Vortex
Arguably one of their best, and the drummer is insane in this one. You will also here Tatiana’s growls get VERY deep.
Sweet
Vortex is amazing. I love her super deep growl in that one.
my favorite jinjer song
Holy shit. You picked it was up in 7 in like 10s? That's freaking amazing. Props to you! Sorry, watching the rest of the reaction right now.
Vlad (the drummer) is classically trained in piano (there's a vid of him playing Rachmaninoff on yt) but he mostly played guitar...until the drummer in one of his former bands quit, so he taught himself how to play drums. Insanely talented musician (as are all of the other members of this band)
This "live session" does involve some backing vocals and other effects, but these guys can absolutely produce this same sound live. This was their intro to Vlad joining the band. There are a bunch of playthroughs on their yt channel (jinjer metal band) so feel free to take your pick.
I waver between my favourites from them, but it's either Teacher Teacher or I Speak Astronomy. Both OMVs are amazing. Hope to see you check one of them out!
Odd times signatures poke through my ears pretty quick.
@@teckreactionsdude the drum playthrough videos are all must-see stuff! Also all the bass and guitar playthrough videos!
Welcome to Jinjer. Tatiana is a vocal goddess and the band members are all excellent musicians. To appreciate how good this band is, react to their live performances. I highly recommend "Perennial" live at Wacken. Make sure to get the lyrics, Tatiana writes so very deep poetic lyrics. Good reaction (Subbed)
Will do. Thanks for the sub!
Yes. The Perennial live at Wacken is always my second song to suggest. It’s the perfect answer to the questions , “is this real or an effect in post?” “Can’t she do it live?”
This is my brothers favorite band and yes. That indeed is her
That’s insane.
Outstanding! Welcome to Jinjer.
Thank you kindly!
I had to wait till I got off work to watch this, but I counted the minutes till I could! I've never had a reactor actuallly listen to something I recommended! So glad you enjoyed it. I love them and drove 7 hours to see them when they were headlining a couple years ago. They are AMAZING live. I would go with Perennial Live at Wacken like others have said, you'll love it. Can't go wrong with any of their songs, in my humble opinion. Love your channel!
Thanks for recommendation, my friend. I enjoyed it!
I think you will love this and love the drummer.
I did. And I do.
There is a vocal backing track in parts. This was technically a re-recording session to showcase the drummer. Pisces the song itself is still considered an "unfinished" song by the band even though it was on an album release. The band has stated in interviews and such that they have never really been happy with the song and they regret that it was the song that basically introduced them to an international audience. This song has been rewritten and re-recorded multiple times and the version that exists now started with a completely different ending when it was recorded for the album and was changed last minute during the recording process. Eugene wrote the lyrics at the end of this version, and is the original writer of the song itself (started with the bass line)
Ah got it. It's a pretty neat effect.
The guys write all the music and give it to Tati to put lyrics to it. She writes most of the lyrics in Russian (her native language) first and then translates it to English where she will decide on cleans versus growls. They are top notch talented. So glad I found them in 2019 when I stumbled onto the Teacher, teacher video.
Very interesting.
Them being written first in a different language kind of lends an interesting vibe.
Like being very poetic but not in a way you'd expect from Anglo-American sphere.
And then there's the infamous procrastination lol. She always waits until the last minute to write the lyrics, putting pressure on herself to produce on the spot in the studio. She clearly thrives under pressure.
@@ericpeterson7512 Hence the entire concept of the Wallflower video.
Yeah, importantly they are from the Donbas region, where the war is currently ongoing. While they speak Russian in that region (which is Putin's excuse for annexing it), the band and many others are Ukrainians at heart and reject the Russian annexation and just want the war to end.
They have a song about it, "Home Back." Heartbreaking.
Vlad (the drummer) is in fact right handed. It's live, she does switch that quick, she does sing that clean and scary. They are "different" and next level. You want to hear bass, Do Jinjer, Who is gonna be the one, Live
He’s right handed?!
@@teckreactions He was a classically trained Pianist , self-taught drummer. Right handed, plays open style drums.
He is ambidextrous actually. You kind of have to be to play piano at the level he does
you will really enjoy "Teacher, Teacher (official video)", crazy time signatures, Tati switching gear from one word to another, cool arrangement. hard, melodic, funky.
Can't wait!
I concur.
Welcome to the Jinjer reaction club!! 🤘🔥🤘
Tatiana has been doubled here, as you noticed. Unfortunately she has also been pitch-corrected and she absolutely doesn't need it. Tatiana produces her harsh vocal with almost no air. She can do this an inch from a mic without popping it.
Amazing.
I've had the pleasure of seeing Jinjer (twice) at the HMAC in Harrisburg, PA; a very small venue. They're even better live, her voice is amazing! Great reaction 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Rock on!
Vlad is not left-handed. He just plays that open style that a lot of younger drummers are using.
That's cool.
So this is sort-of-live. It's a live studio session, meaning there are multiple takes, full studio production and effects, layered vocals, instrumental parts that aren't actually shown in the room (like the organ-like sound in the verses)... but everything you _see_ on screen is really also being heard, and the whole band really is playing through it live, just multiple times.
Welcome to your New favorite band!
Ha! We’ll see.
@@teckreactions you can take it as a promise.
It doesn't matter what jinjer song you react to next, they have so many good ones!
Nice
Thanks to the almighty algorithm, I ended up here - bang, instant sub. EVERY REACTOR EVER reacts to Jinjer, Nightwish etc. But rarely do you find one who's a musician himself and gives insightful commentary like this. Being a really likeable dude is a big plus, too.
Holy cow! Thanks for the kudos! Appreciate you.
YES! Welcome to Jinjer!
Thanks!
check out "outlander" young days of Jinjer, or "teacher teacher" or actually anything from them to be honest. "Sit Stay Roll Over" is one of my favorites.
Will do!
The vocal doubles and layers were added after the performance. And yes, she does that death growl live. She switches pretty smoothly in concert, too. She's a superb live performer. No woman I've heard so far has that deep of a growl. Her stage presence is awesome.
On it.
Ukrainian band who write their own material. Tania writes a lot of the lyrics to their stuff.
That’s awesome.
So far, there are only 2.5 songs with lyrics that she didn't write. 😉
I'll add that she's writing in probably her third language. She's from Donetsk, where the first language is usually Russian. Her second would be Ukrainian, third English.
I'm pretty sure that Tatiana writes the lyrics in russian and translates them to english. At least I remember her saying that, maybe in the interview with Elizabeth from charismaticvoice.
So Vlad (the drummer) started out as a classical pianist so I think that's the origin of his split stick technique because of course piano players rarely cross their hands when playing. His current kit has two floor toms, one on the left side of his hihat and a rack tom in the place of a floor tom next to the kick. An auxiliary snare between the rack tom and the floor tom on his right that is 12" in diameter. K Zildjian cymbals. There are several really good drum playthroughs from him on UA-cam. The best one being for their song Mediator.
You've already gotten some good suggestions but from a drummers perspective I would definitely second the suggestion about Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air. Also Home Back, Wallflower, Vortex, On the Top Live in Kyiv and Pit of Consciousness Live in Kyiv and Judgement and Punishment One Take Vocal. Jinjer is from Ukriane. They grew up during the transition from the USSR to Ukrainian independence and so they've been through a lot. This song is about Tatiana's nature as someone born as a Pisces.
That’s impressive. Holy cow.
Perennial live will blow your mind. Tatiana is a vocal goddess.
On it
It never gets old to see people reacting to Tatyana :D
Nice
Her vocals are only bigger and better now. Keep on the jinjer journey
More coming soon!
ah, it was fun to watch you settle in there and let your guard down for a minute. This Band, is amazing.
They’re pretty good!
If you are doubting Tatiana's vocal abilities, Judgement & Punishment one take vocal is a must see. You get growl metal, clean metal and a surprise third style you are not expecting.
No doubt at all. I get the feeling there's more in there.
*Never gets old to see first time reactors to Jinjer. LOL* (So many thought she's not really doing it...till they reacted to Jinjer live concert performances. There is no doubt)
On it.
@@teckreactions Start with Perennial
You're impressed with her switch from clean to growl and this isn't even the song which highlights it best. If you continue with the recommendations others have made, you'll see. Having seen them live last summer, I can tell you it's 100% real. She's a joy to watch.
More to come.
Heh…as a musician who appreciates good musicianship. Jinjer is a gold mine. Everyone in this band is truly gifted. Since you’re a drummer, this drummers name is Vlad. Also, I’m pretty sure he’s not left handed. Fun fact, he was a classical pianist who one day said, “this is cool and all, but I really just want to hit things.” Ok, I made that up. But he is a pianist…or was…no idea if he still plays. But I think that’s were the lower kit and the open playing style come from.
That’s incredible. Such talent.
Your face and gap in recognition as to wtf was happening was great!
I was not ready.
They sound just as good live.
Awesome
This drummer is a madman !!!! Vlad is a beast.
Crazy.
You might be the fastest to recognize the time signatures. And your all around musical fluency is appreciated. As others have said theres a lot of post production on this. Perennial is a great followup to hear them do their thing on stage (though there's one bit where they added some light clean layering to that which isn't in the bootlegs.
Cool! Looking forward to more.
4:02 the shocked face 😂 i love it. I love when unsuspecting people react to jinjer 💜
HAHAHAHA!
"Who is going to be the one" live!!! Must see 👀
Sweet
The false-fold scream doesn't use the vocal chords we speak and sing with; it's the folds that make noise when we clear our throats. Tatiana has absolutely mastered the false-fold scream, which is why she can flip back and forth so quickly. Also, the drummer was a concert pianist, and learned how to play the drums specifically for Jinjer. I'm supposing he keeps his drums lower because it's more efficient. You'll notice his elbow rise during the cymbal crashes, so it might help to raise the cymbals a tad, but that's just me guessing.
Oh interesting.
I've seen them a couple times. They're amazing. All that weird timing stuff is just as precise live.
I love your reaction too. She had that affect on me too
Cool!
I love seeing you guys watch Perennial at Wacken 2018, it's the best fully live showcase of Tatianna and the boys!!
Sweet.
Came here for the jaw drop
Was not disappointed
🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I LOVE Jinger and I was just chuckling when you were saying its just a chill thing,,, waiting for the drop!! LOL Great reaction 😊
Thanks!
Yea I love me some reactor surprise to Jinjer's Pieces, it never gets old.
🤯
reactions on Pisces never get bored
i am not a drummer and i dont know that much about it but the drums stand out to me here perfectly and they are my main focus(my main focus in terms of instruments is usually guitar) so its nice to hear an actual drummer pointing it out
Awesome!
Welcome to Jinjer. That's all her. Perennial live at Wacken shows her talent well. If you just want to see the drummer try Under the Dome drum playthrough.
On it.
Yeah that's a particularly sick drum track.
Yeah, she can do that, lol. She is a beast of a vocalist! Such a good band all the way around.
I agree.
Perennial live is a must to see and hear it in a live concert setting!!!!
That'll be next.
The first collision with Tatiana is always a sweet thing to experience - or watch. 😀
Nice
So awesome to hear some appreciation for the guys and music.
They’re awesome!
Oh it is all her. Her name is Tatiana. They is overdubs working here. They got to this studio early so she laid some supplemental vocal tracks down. You'll here it on the second chorus.
Nice!
Check out Their song "I speak astronomy " with original video that's awesome
Will do.
It was the label's decision to title this "live studio session" but mix in some of Tatiana's vocals from the original album stems in places for thickness. Very naughty, yes, & I'm not condoning it.... but good grief, did this blow up for them!
-It's in 7.... then 6.... then 4(ish?!) for the chunky chorus.... then back to 6.... etc etc!- I should've known you'd catch this being a drummer! LOL
It's their composition skills which caught my ear, initially despite the harsh vocals (you can probably tell from my username what I tend to consider a top-tier vocal over guitar-led music!). Altho it became quickly apparent that Tatiana is 100% *in it* when she's doing her thing live or in the studio, & if the integrity is there in the music, I'll go with it!
Vlad the drummer is a classically trained pianist to trade, & created ~90% of the music for their last "Wallflowers" album (he can play metal guitar too, & I've seen footage of him being quite convincing on an upright bass). I reckon he's one of those high-IQ, thus easily-bored, kinda dudes.... hence some of the complexity in his writing.
Wait til you hear some of the crazy split-timings-with-heavy-syncopation. And the songs where they go fully thru-composed.... o_O actually speaking of that, please record a reaction vid for their thru-composed single "Vortex", then (just for your own info) check out the bass playthrough vid Eugene uploaded for it. It's a 5-string drop-A #MasterClass of how to have a deeply musical bassist make a single-guitarist heavy band sound HUGE.... all the technique, yet always in service to the piece. It's just SO good.
the OMV: ua-cam.com/video/AiaOSGZTwtY/v-deo.html
Eugene's bass playthrough: ua-cam.com/video/iBdZI_u3zP0/v-deo.html
If you're not impressed, I'll give you your money back myself!! ;)
That’s very interesting. Thanks for the suggestions.
@@teckreactions Honestly, when they go fully thru-composed.... it's some of the best heavy music I've ever heard. Enjoy! :)
The live session was to show case Jinjer's new drummer. In the description below that video they say what was added, it's a totally different version. For instance in this one she sings in her high voice Searching For a Hook to Catch on and See Their Sun Beam, in the album version she uses her harsh vocals. Jinjer has said there are multiple versions of the song.
The whole band member is awesome the singer is self-taught using pillows in the house and buy the highway
Cool!
Perennial live at Wacken, Judgement & Punishment one take vocal, Vortex, Wallflower, Disclosure, Call Me A Symbol, Teacher Teacher, Sit Stay Rollover, Mediator, Outlander.
Welcome to the Jinjer family!❤
Thanks!
Every Jinjer track is a banger lol
We’ll see!
She did complete live. I see this Band 5 times meanwhile and it stunned me every time. I recommend the next should be the last song of the Live Set from Wacken Open Air from 2019. Tatiana is a absolute vocal beast.
Very cool.
🤣 Your face! Never gets old!
I have no control.
Teacher Teacher!!!! - the best! You should see!

Great reaction, Matt. Vlad, Jinjer's drummer, is unmatched in the genre for his timing and great cymbal work. Jinjer's song Teacher Teacher would be a great next step, since it showcases a harder sound and some great stylistic range for Tatiana, the lead vocalist. BTW, drummer to drummer, have you heard Grayson Nekrutman's cover of Caravan? You'll never hear a better swing drummer in your life, and he was only twenty when he recorded it. It's a must-see for every percussionist.
I have not, but I'm looking forward to it!
hehehehe...I could not wait to see your reaction when they switch it up!!! She is amazing
So good!
I hope you do more Jinjer reactions! Try Who is Gonna be the one live from atlas that is my favorite Jinjer song or Perennial live at Wacken in 2019
Definitely.
Sometimes listening to Jinjer you're mouth can't close.
I agree
Yeah, bro, Jinjer is a rabbit hole you'll enjoy. Any questions about her voice can be put to rest with the first video in my recommendations below:
- Perennial (Live at Wachen)
- Judgement & Punishment (One Take)
- Teacher, Teacher
- Vortex
Let’s do it!
Welcome to Jinjer! I really hope you continue with this amazing band, they have a very deep catalog of awesome songs for you to discover!
Thanks!
LOL. Never gets old: watching people's reaction when she first goes into that "metal" voice! :)
🤣
Listen to their "Vortex" - she switches the voices literally in the middle of sentences without breathing
Nice!
My fave pocket rocket Tati! They were INCREDIBLE when I saw them at their first show in my city. The crowd was aggressive but also organised in the chaos. So interesting with their time sigs etc.
Also I can do guttural growls, not as good as her but not bad, and yeah my voice is absolutely fine. You know you're doing it right when you can like just switch back without the growling doesn't linger. All the turbulence is above the larynx. I've still got my tonsils & yeah they absolutely play a part.
Interesting.
There are a few of us who only watch Jinjer reaction videos. Glad to see some of you in the comments as expected lol…. Also as expected the Reactor becomes a fan of Tati and Jinjer. I am sure there will be another reaction video to follow, more than likely Perennial lol. Great video brother, gonna sub.
Cool, thanks!
Man I love how u actually break down the music. I love the break downs and pointing out the time signatures . You'll definitely get a sub from me
I appreciate that!
Saw them live last summer, absolutely amazing to see in person. They were opening for Disturbed, but honestly only went for them :)
Cool!
You have pretty good ears my man 🙂
The voice switches are absolutely real, but the recording is also post-processed, not 100% live. They added some (double tracked?) voice layers in a few places, even a whisper layer, and did a little pitch correction.
I highly recommend some of their other songs: Vortex, Teacher teacher, Judgment and punishment
Cool reaction, go further)
The next Jinjer song is "Perennial" (live at Wacken) or "Who's gonna be the one" live.
On it
ok I finally gave in and watched a reaction to this song. I can't believe this growl is coming out of that tiny woman!!!
For real.
I have seen so many reactions to that song and you finally picked up on the 7/4 meter and the meter changes. Been waiting for somebody to mention that for years.
Glad to be of service.
Another band with a super talented vocalist - Spiritbox. Songs "Rule of nines" and "Blessed be"
That's not the first time I've had Spiritbox suggested. They're quickly moving up the list.
@@teckreactionsThe whole band is amazing, but the way Courtney LaPlante switches between ethereal fey voice and her harsh vocals is astonishing.
This Song is a perfect example for a Band saying: Yeah, we could turn it to eleven, but we're showing what we are capleble of by holding back.
Also suggestion by me: Blind Guardian - The Bard Song ( & Valhalla; live @ Wacken)
Sweet
Great reaction Matt. I never tire of the look on people's faces when Tatiana switches it up on this tune. If you're looking for another band to react to I would strongly recommend Nightwish. Have a look at their performance of Ghost Love Score live at the Wacken Open Air festival in 2013 - I promise that you won't regret it.
Nightwish reaction going up this week!
Teacher teacher really show cases her range.
On the list.
Aside from the faith & worship angle - I knew I'd be fan of yours once you expressed admiration for Rush
Nice to meet you!
this Band is a Gem and Tatiana a little Diamond :)
They're pretty good.
I suggest next from Jinjer: Perennial live at Wachen or Pit of Consciousness live Kiev version
On it!
I think what blows me back the most about her growls is how relatively easy it is to pick up on what she is growling. In a lot of European death metal, especially in Swedish death metal like Dark Tranquility, Hypocrisy and especially Opeth the growls are produced in a way that give a quite clean sound. Tatiana from Jinjer has the same quality.
It’s pretty strong
It's all fun and games and then Satan's voice kicks in. Truly Impressive band and the Singer honestly amazes with her dual attack vocals. Then there is the odd beat landscape drums, guitar and bass work. Outstanding.
It's pretty great.
Obviously the big shock moment is what everyone wants to see the reaction to. I, however, was really looking forward to your impression of the bands musicality and somg writing. That gets missed by a lot of people because of Tatiana's talent. Great reaction my friend.
Thanks!
Saying "it's pretty", check
Slack-jawed incomprehension, check
Wellcome to Tatianas army 😀
Haha!
Enjoy your reactions! Look forward to your Sleep Token arc. Start from the beginning and enjoy the music in order. Beautiful stuff
Thanks! I wouldn't be able to do an authentic Sleep Token reaction. I've heard all their stuff.
