      I like how you called the function the analytical wizard in another one of your videos! It is SO analytical! My second favourite cognitive function! 😍
      Ti values/seeks accuracy. I do tend to tune people out when analyzing them/the environment, bored with the convo, or already came to a conclusion pertaining to the person/topic. I can respond with the right one word replies when really I haven't heard a word they've said. I think of it as a super power! 🤣🤣@@GeekPsychology

      Programmer here intp as well.
      We categorise our cognitive skills, and often have our dumb subjective definition to words, that later develop to better fit the real defs.
      So
      1st one: Accuracy: It's improving by haveing a lot of constraints to look for while we're trying to accomplish a given task.
      2nd one: Structure: Trying to structure our knowledge in eather a linear or in a holistic manner. Depends on whether it's consciout or subconscious. Linear is conscious and is really aiding accuracy, while the more holistic one makes associations and categories, makes sure that no misunderstanding happened because of not recognising ambiguity in the given information, and then makes connection based on that.
      3rd one: connect the dots of a particular problem. This is when you have known tools to solve the given problem.
      4th one: When you have a problem, and try to see it from different "angles". That means data visualisation, or the opposite. Writing down visual observations by the language of mathematics or codes. E.G.: Best way to imprive it is geometry.
      5th one: Isomorphism. You see the simmetry of graphs, logic, objects etc.
      6th one: Abstraction: When you develop meta-knowledge about a given practical implementation of a task. E.G.: automatisation
      7th one: Spatial analysis.
      8th one: Sound to color color to color characters association, to make our mind more efficient.
      9th one: Well developed intps have mental palaces.
      10th one: Forethinking. We make plans before abstractions.
      11th one: Waiting for our subconscious to answer a question while lieing in bed and munching cheetos. Then it pops in and we are like crazy excited.
      12th one: Pattern recognition. We develop visual patterns that can be a shortcut for logic, but if not well done can be misleading.
      13th one: LOGIC

I can't multitask in this state nor watch a movie with an interesting plot. Music without words is the most I can stand. I never knew the bit on how the limbic system is involved.

    Ti is objective because it uses logic and practicality as a filter. It is subjective as we use filtered data to produce originality.
    We stop listening when the person is defing logic or practicality. Because we have this critical point if it is neither logical nor practical , what makes your thoughts better than mine, when it comes to my life ? I value your thoughts in your life . But if your results are not what I intened, why bother listening to your belief system anyway? If I want different results the best thing to do is to have a different mind set . A paradigm shift. So I can get the results. Because I am choosing subjective original thoughts using logic and / or pragmatism as a filter to get new results.

    • @GeekPsychology
      @GeekPsychology  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! I really like these 2 sentences:
      "what makes your thoughts better than mine" and "If I want different results the best thing to do is to have a different mind set."
      As an INFP, I feel like I do the same thing, but with motivations and emotions/states.

    • @dr.hebagadallahclinicalpha9871
      @dr.hebagadallahclinicalpha9871 5 років тому

      Good. Some disagreeablness is healthy for our growth .
      I think Ti is misunderstood. But if we dig deeper it allows paradigm shifts.

    Is it possible for an INFP to have a developed Ti? Say because of the nature of work and having been raised by Ti users in the family?
    I'm a programmer and would take a looooot of time analysing codes. Others would share their analysis and logic how they would resolve the problem, but if it doesn't make sense to me I'd end up putting those advices at the back of my head and try to figure it out using my own methods. Which could be real problematic esp. since there are lots of work to be done and multitasking is highly useful. Thinking about this side of me makes me doubt if I might be an INTP instead.

    What I would give to have Dario hook some electrodes to my brain. Based on what you said in this video it would light up like a Christmas tree. I figured out a way to turn most things off in a couple seconds,but I don't really like that state because not much is going on inside.My mind appears to be devoid of all thoughts and my perception changes (I'm presuming most likely Se) drastically. Normally I will see a room as a whole (in clear focus,but no attention paid to any specific detail) without my peripheral view blurred (about 150 degrees) and I can pan around the room smoothly. In this altered state (about 80 degrees in focus) the colors appear a little more vivid and 3D like. I find myself focusing on distinct objects and "jumping" to the next object (like snapshots rather than the movie view I am used to).
    All it takes to enter this state is to take a deep breath,close my eyes and while exhaling I think "let it all go" (I mean absolutely everything). My face instantly feels like it is droopy,so relaxed that I once looked in the mirror and it looked like I was dead (it was creepy the first time). Meanwhile I am trying to analyze in this state,without waking up what shut down to enter the state (something definitely shuts down). To me it appears as if Ni is taking a break and Se takes the wheel. It feels like perceiving with no ego.
    As expected from you,another great video. I really like your style with metaphors and analogies. They say so much more than the same few words could otherwise.

      Go pay the fee and he'll do it! If I didn't live 12 hours by plane away, I'd have test me for sure. Interesting! I have absolutely no idea how I perceive the world. It's all blurry, just like most of my memories. I like how you explained it.
      Breath-work is great to practice. I do it when I remember to... which is not often enough.

    Crazy how, before I even knew what an INTP was or knew anything about machine language, I was already already thinking with programming brain. When I got INTP, and read about Ti, it was FREAKY! About the same as when I learned about boolean statements in intro programming classes and was confused that this wasn't how people's brains worked already. Even as a little kid, I remember creating if-then logic to dictate what I should be doing, and waiting for triggers to spur me into action.
    I gotta read this book. I have ADHD-PII diagnosed but that blink, stop paying attention thing is SO true. I struggle to even read half the time b/c I feel I "Get what they're going for" so quickly that it's extremely boring to KEEP having to go along with another person's logic when I already get their logic and are just looking for the next logical piece to add to their premise. I feel like this kind of thing can easily be received as bragging, but trust me... it's a problem at least half the time. Seems like 99% of people are looking for human stories, so it REALLY sucks when you're trying to navigate this world looking for things that most people are less interested in and annoyed at all the things that people do to make their work suitable for most!
    Plus, the amount of times I've tried to explain to someone and start somewhere along the lines with "Ok, so first, drop all of your own human perspective..." and then they stop me and don't understand. If you don't at least have a model for doing that yourself already, my explanation is not going to work since it's centered around doing that, lol.

      And speaking of stopping introspection, I find meditation VERY hard and have alexithymia. I barely have ANY idea how I feel about literally anything, even bodily feelings... my therapist has tried to do the above with me but in reverse. He'd say "Ok, so start by auditing how you feel" and I'd stop him to say "Uhhh I have zero idea what you mean" and it took an entire session to explain this concept to me...

    • @vazzaroth
      @vazzaroth 2 роки тому

      Ok now I'm getting freaked out. P3 just described something that I'm borderline obsessed with... seeing outside my own perception with a field all around me. I've always been fascinated with the fish that can use special senses (usually electric fields) to sense things around them. I SWEAR I've felt this at stores, while driving, moving around, etc. I know it's not totally accurate, but it's FAIRLY accurate when I observe something in my peripheral, stop seeing it, but can still 'track' it's movement.
      IDK if this is cause or training, but as a kid I used to close my eyes and see how far I could go around my house doing chores or whatever without bumping into things. It was always longer than I thought and my own anxiety always caused me to open my eyes more than actually making big mistakes. Maybe that anxiety came directly from P3 knowing I was out of my comfort zone.
      Tho ironically, I've always hated team sports because there is TOO MUCH going on to track it all.

    I keep asking and reading and re-thinking, as long as I have all the clues in right order in my mind, I have a sense, that I got it right. It's very hard for me to make a decision if I sense there is still something I should know. I kind of feel I know enough. The most smaller decisions, like should I by this or that milk I spend like 5 minutes reading all the ingredients in it, if i'm buying something new. If someone recommend something for me, I don't just go believing just like that, but I might get interested, this is how I make decisions. On the other hand I can do against every sensible decision if I know someone else needs my help. So, maybe not very ti-like. The hard thing is to decide weather you do something because your thought that that is what you should do, or because your ego makes you do decisions this way. All these cognitive functions seem so difficult to do apart

    INTP here, I know you’ve clarified this in previous videos... just be aware that some people will click off when the first thing you do is reference a book. It looks like your promoting/tying the whole video to it and that will deter people just browsing. Try and focus on putting that stuff at the end, like asking your audience to subscribe. Let the knowledge entrance people in and hook them, you know what I mean? You ever click on a video and the FIRST thing they do is tell you to subscribe and ‘ring’ the bell? It’s annoying right? Lets say there's a fill in the blank test with 10 questions and and ten Word options. For example A Geography map test of Carribean Islands. The way my mind works is if I know for sure I have 8 of the ten questions correct but have no idea for the last two I will repeat one of the word choices twice to guarantee myself a 90% rather than take the chance of getting a 80% or 100%. Is that an example of ti creating a loophole to guarantee an A - or just an example of my personality not enjoying taking risks.? For example I don't enjoy gambling and whenever I try something new I usually read up on it to make sure its absolutely safe such as when I learned how to surf I would analyze in my head all various scenarios of how to survive a riptide or shark attack for 30 minutes before even getting into the water. Just curious if it is to and even if to is it governed by some other function ( the function telling me to play it safe and get the A- rather than go for the perfect score and risk a b.

    I think science is in observation. Constantly questioning the status quo and seeing logical conclusion to ideas playing out. Trying to ask better questions. That’s how I use my Ti. Breakdown the concept to its bare structure and ask what it’s trying to achieve and why. Then building efficient system with least step. Try to be very concise.

    "Hey you schizoid robot, think about how you can build more rapport with other types" > Nope
    Well, I've actually read into some NLP books, but I'm just the same... either I "like" ppl and I'm pretty interactive or I don't care at all to interact (aka working 10 hours next to a person and maybe exchange a few words). Interesting videos, but I don't have so much time to look all of them (at least today lol)

      +ochgottnochma lol. Are you the schizoid robot in that example?! You better update your stuff, homie.
      NLP can be very helpful. I've studied it quite a bit, but not so much lately. The SWISH technique and Timeline therapy are my current favorites.
      Small steps!
      Thanks. It's not a small endeavor to watch them all, but hopefully they'll keep your attention and maybe give you some new ways of seeing things.

      Yea, I meant me with it, even tho it might have resonated with you aswell. ^^ Since I was always searching for "improvement" I finally found something that actually improved my mood/motivation/energy, which is microdosing magic mushrooms and LSD. This lack of energy is probably pretty common for INTP 5w4's, but small doses of LSD (like 10 or 20µg daily or every 2nd day) act like Amphetamin/Methylphenidat without the filthy side effects (like mindfuck after ~8-10 hours). Can't even drink coffee, I become pretty jittery and confused (L-Theanine shall help against that and got it already, but didn't tested yet ^^).
      And some days ago I figured that I have Aphantasia... I cannot "visualize" anything and large parts of NLP kinda depends on it ("hurr visualize all the success"). Might be the reason why I could never become warm with NLP. Aaaand it might be caused by a lack of Vitamin B6/B12/C and omega oils, so I ordered that aswell... gonn see how it works out.
      Are you a good visualizer? If you google "Aphantasia INTP" e.g., you will get some information, Aphantasia kinda seems to be common for N types, which you probably are.

      I'm glad I called NT types "Alchemists" because you're so helping me support that metaphor with your comment. lol
      I'm pretty sure IP types have low energy in general and we focus more on energy management and not expending it. I can drink coffee, but it usually lasts a long time. I can't drink it after 3 if I want to sleep at a decent time.
      Aphantasia is really interesting. I don't think I have it because I imagine unique things all the time, but they're usually just expansions on real stimuli. Like a funny hat on someone that isn't actually wearing a hat. But I cannot picture people's faces in my head... even my own. It's extremely fuzzy.

    Why mix psychology with rpg magic??

    • @GeekPsychology
      @GeekPsychology  2 роки тому

      Because using RPGs as the metaphorical glue to stick concepts together was how I learned it. It was difficult, this helped bridge what I already knew with what I wanted to learn.

      I will say however that I don't agree with the underlying premise of your parting implorement. Self actualization doesn't mean homogeny, or that we use all functions, and act out a set of behaviors. It's differentiation and integration. Respect and integrate-(or make a place for) what is shadowy-(that which you ignore and cast off), and that you detest in yourself, but differentiate who you are by aligning with what your are: the will of your archetypal self. Become the INTP, INFP, or ESTJ, ISFP, and ECT. Embody the archetypal expression as strongly as possible without it overcoming you. That's actualization, and the Nobel quest that brings the kingdom of God within the heart of man. Behaviorism was not the vehicle nor the point of Jung's work it was Actualizing the self.

      +Joshua L I don't necessarily want to focus on behaviorism, but if it gets people to think more and be more aware of themselves, I'll allow it. And my method of giving personalities and characters to the functions kind of makes it impossible to separate them now.
      Also, not everyone wants to go that deep. My goal is to use games and a more relatable style as a bridge to at least contemplate crossing the water of the unknown. If they want to go to the other side and really explore, this'll help get them started. But it can only go so far because I choose to focus more on the metaphors and "playing life."
      Does that make sense?
      And I'm also not married to any theory. Just learning and growing with what makes sense to me.
