I was without my RV for at least 6 months and forest river did nothing, I still had to continue making the payments on it. The awning collapsed onto my brand new pickup truck and damaged it, my floor caved in just like these guys, my black tank valve was seized four times in a row, after being fixed 4 times. My backsplash also peeled off behind the stove and oven. The water heater crapped out twice. The furnace crapped out twice, and all of this was in the first year of owning. It was literally the worst experience of my life and because of it I will never ever buy a new RV and I suggest nobody buy a new RV
Forest River should buy back their unit for what they paid for it and even compensate them for what they paid to have things fixed plus the losses of food and any lodging cost, at the very minimum! This is absolutely unconscionable! My heart ❤️ goes out to this lovely couple. I would never buy any Forest River product anyway. They have been fraught with problem RV’s for years now
Wow-they’re so calm talking about all these issues they’ve been having… even in the videos when they’re recording things literally going wrong in real time. I would definitely not be that calm and even keeled going through that
If they get a mold test, make sure it is a suspended particle test. They use a special device that sucks in air into a special filter. That filter is sealed and sent to a laboratory for testing the mold test that you get at Home Depot is only good if a piece of mold just happens to fall onto the dish. Also make sure they take a battery powered leaf blower and blow into the air conditioning ducks to loosen up any possible mold do that all the nooks and crannies as well. The air circulating in the RV at least 24 hours prior to the test, this way you’ll ensure you have a good outcome whether it be positive or negative. I have first hand knowledge of having the old test done in my apartment and it tested positive for mold.
I bought a Little Guy Mini Max in 2022 and had a few issues that were fixed by warranty but nothing since....you are right, small builders are much better than the big guys.
When there is a defective unit like this one, the manufacturer should take it back, so they can analyze it, and find out why the build quality was so low and how they can fix that!
I am not getting the impression that they give a damn about the consumer in the first place. Yet the buyers continue not doing due diligence and signing in the fitted line without even testing the unit fully first. Why should the manufacturer change. The average consumer is predictable.
I had a 2009 heartland bighorn that was built like a tank. I bought a new 2021 heartland milestone that was cardboard and tissue paper and sold it 5 months ago and fortunately it was on a permanent site as it probably would implode if it was going to be towed routinely. I'm done with RVs for the foreseeable future until quality returns.
This is why I’ve been saying it’s probably not a good idea to buy anything out of Elkhart these days, or anything mass produced. Fortunately, there are lots of independent RV makers like simple camp who provide the quality and service.
I made the mistake of my life when I bought a 2012 Big Horn 3610 RE Fifth wheel .It was brand new and a full load all optioned 5th wheel. We had just retired. It was a piece of junk from day one.We had it for 5 years warranty work was non existent.....GOOD BYE !
If you want a small camper that is extremely well-made, look at the all fiberglass Casita. Reasonable cost and they hold their value extremely well. Look them up.
Pretty sad they have to go through that. Without a doubt the lemon law, needs to on anything that is on our roads with wheels, my best to them and good work liz!
Most new RV's are junk, our friends bought a new 5th wheel last year, they've had nothing but problems with it and have been back to the dealer time and time again trying to get things fixed. My husband and I camp out of a 1993 Elkhorn camper, we paid $850 for it about 6 years ago, the original fridge finally died after 31 years, everything else still works great.
For these serious issues to happen with a unit supposedly only a month old when sold and two weeks in service is criminal. That floor had been soaked and rotting for more than 6 weeks
Wow, I had been thinking about a Forest River 5th wheel, so THANK YOU for showing me this! Good luck to this couple and please thank them for letting us know.
These poor people, it’s not enough that you have to worry about every day life. Groceries, Work, kids, life on top of that you got to deal with all of this crap. Good luck.
LIz. Congratulations again on your reaching 150K subscribers on this You Tube channel. All of your hard work in helping others has created quite a following for your efforts. Well deserved, and keep the channel growing. A+
Being in the Automotive sector I feel the best thing for Forest River would be to "Trade/Upgrade" the couple's "Problem Plagued" unit with an Upgraded new unit from Forest River. This would show Forest River stands behind their product and is confident of their product. This would also keep the couple within the Forest River "Family". Can you imagine if the trade/upgrade happened? Not only would you, Liz talk about it so would the couple to all the Friends/Family and people they come in contact with at the campgrounds.... This happens all the time with the OEMs of cars/trucks, so why not with Campers/RV's? When will RV manufacturers going to get with the times?
These two seem like very reasonable people. I'd probably be having a meltdown. I'm going to have faith Forest River is going to step up and do the right thing for them. Having such a good attitude and staying cool-headed should count for something.
Due to all the issues on this amazing channel, and other word of mouth, you must do a pre-purchase inspection. I feel bad because alot of these items would have been caught before they purchased.
You should not have to have a brand new unit inspected. The companies are required to provide what they advertise. I’ve bought new cars and never had them inspected privately a brand new RV should be safe and be EVERYTHING the company says it is. My gosh, it was brand new, not used.!
Liz, you continue to do amazing work!! Forest River should definitely do a buy back! Soft doors are indicative of ALOT of leaking water. I pray FR will do the right thing and give them their money back. Keep doing what ur doing Liz!!!
I was concerned when I saw the wheel bearing issue that they are having. This is a safety concern that shoulld be addressed before towing the trailer to a new location. Also, if one wheel is like that, what about the other wheels? Even if it is as simple as having a wheel seize up while on the road, it would not be an easy or cheap fix. If I was in this situation., I would seriously consider having the trailer inspected before moving it from it's current location. Hopefully the inspection will identify any safety issues that are present so that they can be fixed as soon as possible and to provide a comprehensive list of everything that needs to be fixed. They can then use this document to show proof to the vendor that such problems actually exist.
Part of the issue is that they put such garbage axles on most of these. Even the best ones are supposed to be serviced every 12,000 miles or so. They don't exactly emphasize it, but if you don't have it done, it can void your warranty.
There are no such thing as building codes, or a code inspector, for RV's. They are slapped together and rely on the dealerships to fix the low quality assembly. Speed and profit is the ultimate goal at the manufactures.
Thanks for "going to bat" for all these owners! My wife and I owned two Airstream trailers, and had a number of quality control issues with them. We did the math, sold the trailer and tow vehicle 2020 F-350.....we had approx. $160K invested. Now we are slow travelling twice a year. With that no maintenance fees, insurance, fuel, camping fees.....life is good! Love what you do, until these companies retool their entire process, these issues will continue.
The three rules of RV Purchase. 1. Don't buy new. 2. Don't buy new. 3. Don't but new. Two years old is the minimum to work the bugs out and see if it still is worth buying.
Before 2018 on some models. Best to do your research on that particular model. I recommend going on the owners forums to get the inside scoop. Thanks for watching, John.
I was wondering when Forest River would make the channel...here we are. I love that sponge floor. To contrast our 18 ROO has a floor as solid as rock. We were tempted to buy a Roockwood Mini Lite....not happening.
I did a couple videos a while back about Riverstone, but that's been about a year. Glad you are happy with your ROO! Happy travels and thanks for watching.
My Forest River is absolute junk too. It has cost me thousands of dollars in repairs every single time I take it out since 2018. I’m currently waiting to get it back from the shop and then I’m selling it. I’ve hit my limit with it. The lack of confidence in it has ruined the RV experience for my wife and I.
My 1976 Coachmen Cadet 20 footer was 13 years old in 1989. I LIVED in it 3.5 years. No problems at all. No leaks, no floor issues. I did not maintain it either. I kept it clean in and out but didn't know what to maintain. The person who bought it moved it to a lake and lived in it for many years. I think it had crappy materials too. Not sure why mine was so good but I loved it. I loved the floorplan too. If they made it today I would buy it again.
If k ever do buy a camper, it will be a before covid camper, and i would have it inspected, but i think i will buy a van and build it myself. Thank you, liz. You do so much. Congratulations on 150,000 subscribers.
Forest River should buy back as this is a Lemon. We’ve had 4 Forest River trailers and love the quality, so Forest River do the right thing for these people.
For every “bad” rv there’s hundreds if not thousands that buyers are not having problems with. I’ve had 2 new travel trailers since 2020 and nothing major wrong with either one. Don’t let this ruin your dream!
I bought a 1986 chev vanguard, everything was screwed. The curl at the front was so rotten I scooped all the wood out with my hands. I rebuilt the whole curl twice as tough as original. I rebuilt the sides at the front. Replaced most of the roof studs. I built boxes and put them in to strengthen up the roof. I used silverlite insulation so in case it ever leaked it wouldnt soak up water. I am not done repairing it yet but it's leak free. All the seams I used foam strips, siiconed on each side instead of putty. I used aluminum tape instead of the nasty marshmellow seal that is impossible to deal with. All the screws are sealed, I will fix this once for a lifetime of use. All the seams are triple sealed there is no friggen way it can leak.
Just fixing the floor alone would require welding ribs from one side of the frame to the other. The manufacturer and/or dealer aren’t going to do that. A Buy Back is the only solution,
A lot of dealers don't allow independent RV inspections on brand new RVs. They do have legit reasons to not allow "independent" inspectors on their lot to inspect the RV. This whole "Inspection" idea is kind of "Pie in the Sky". Unfortunately, I live in the real world.
If it’s falling apart like it is then the factory should but the unit back. Even if you get an inspector to look at a unit new they won’t be able to see anything wrong because it’s not in use.
When you build a house, the contractor subs out to all the specific expert tradesmen to do the jobs. Think of all the different expert trades needed to build a mobile home. Framers, plumbers, electricians, electronic technicians, flooring, siding, auto mechanics etc... All normally individually specific in their trades. But all these tasks are done in one shop by builders. Think if you hired an electrician to frame out your house. Or a plumber to do electrical work in your home. You'd never do that. But these companies make these things like that. A recipe for disaster.
After some research, I found too many complaints about Forest River. None of the RVs at this price range are built with any real quality, but Forest River was one I avoided. Glad I did.
Only thing I would accept for this "brand new" unit is a buyback. I have owned a 2015 motorhome for 7 years now and have never had any quality issues. Very sad.
Thanks again Liz❣️ we will NEVER buy an RV. The “dream” that we had seems too easily to become a “nightmare”….. PS I went on the simple camp website after watching this video. I want them to see more “hits” after your video was posted!
I had a Jayco Terrain. After my experience with both Jayco and Mercedes, never again. Looking to get a nuCamp Tab 320 which I’ll pull behind my Honda ridgeline
Don't be surprised if RV returns, from the factory, with new issues. Make sure they Add more time to your original warranty before accepting it back. Get it in writing and make sure wording specifies it is added/extended from the ORIGINAL warranty.
I spend the winter months in south Nevada in an RV resort of roughly 350 units, plus park models. We know quite a few folks with new rigs being 5th wheel or bumper pull and seriously all they ever talk about is the new issue with their rig, while we sit in our 2009 Country Coach Motorhome with no major issues for years. Certainly not to say that issues don’t come about from time to time. I guess my point is build quality is not what it once was. We did our time with new 5th wheels and got tired of waiting months to get our rig back from having warranty work done.
I had a forest river sierra 5th wheel , regretted buying it as well. There is no way to get any type of paperwork to show where anything is located , much less having access to repair or replace it .
In my opinion, this has nothing to do with "mass production" it has to do with POOR ENGINEERING, POOR QUALITY CONTROL, POOR MATERIALS, NO AFFORDABLE LEGAL RECOURSE and NO GOVERNMENT REGULATORY LEGISLATION AND CONTROL. This is INDUSTRY WIDE and needs to be addressed by both State and Federal Governments. I recommend people contact their State Governors and Legislators, their Congressmen and U.S. Senators about this before people start dying as a result of these companies and their inferior products. Also, I would contact 60 Minutes, 20/20, Fox News and any Investigative News Source in the hope of getting a story done.
We have complete sympathy. Bought a new DRV in 2015. Had major slide issues along with numerous other problems. Made the dealer full refund the cost in exchange for buying a Cedar Creek to replace the DRV. Worked out well as we were beginning our full time 3 year plan. The unit was night and day difference. Don't settle, dig in and get what you deserve. Its too much money to get ripper off.
The RV (many) manufacturers need to be brought before Congress. The manufacturers are fleeaseing the public because the quality and service problems never stop.
Seems like those of us that are the consumers should join forces and create our own high-quality RV manufacturer for which the bylaws would require it cannot be sold outside of the grass-roots shareholders -- never selling to a holding company nor a competitor. Great work as always, Liz.
Liz, what about a lobby group , go to Washington and force them to have the same safety standards then automobiles. I always tell my wife that our class A is a death trap and that an Angel keeps us alive, it’s terrible
My wife and I were going to down size to a new upper grade 5th wheel RV, but after listening to many of these videos and reading many forums, we are NOT buying anything new!!!!!!!
I feel this manufacturer should at the very least offer two choices: 1. Full refund for the complete unit plus refund for payments made to-date or... 2. Replacement unit with credit for payments made to date My heart goes out to Richard and Andrea along with everyone else experiencing such unacceptable quality issues with their new RV's (bumper pull, 5th wheel, or fully drivable). Thank you, Liz, for all your efforts standing up for the community. You are truly a wonder person! Richard said it well 9:13. On that note, when my wife and I finally pull the trigger jumping into this wonderful community, we will most likely purchase an older unit and renovate the interior for sure!
Well dang I have a 2014 spree connect 280 with a massive solar system 1600w solar thats expandable to ground mount and 15kwh battery 3000w inverter and i run my AC through the night. i have not had much wrong with mine and we travel a lot with it. guessing 10 years ago was the sweet spot.
Liz Amazing, Yes you are AMAZING, helping all those wonderful people❤. I've been watching your videos for a while now, and what I see is 90% of the problems are caused by the frame twisting & turning or just plain breaking. If the foundation is no good then everything falls apart.
I keep reading comments from people saying that it's a brand new product and they shouldn't have to have it inspected. In a perfect world that makes sense but look around at the crap products that are being sold and ask yourself does it really makes sense to not have a new one inspected. Wake up peeps!
Forest River Inc. recently announced that they were closing both RV factories in California, which results in 400+ people losing their jobs. Both the Rialto and Hemet facilities will be closing on December 13th. Forest River will no longer have any mfg. facilities in California. A service center in Hemet will remain open. The nearest factory to California will now be in Indiana after this consolidation. This likely is just from a slowdown in RV sales throughout the industry. It was a hot market after Covid hit and industry insiders felt the boom couldn't last forever.
Crapification, ie to hold soaring costs down, manufacturers cut corners until, well, you have this! And it's in virtually everything, bought 4 security camera's couple months ago, already threw away 2 for bad boards....After 4 Months LOL!
Thank you for sharing. This is just unacceptable by any means. Manufactures don't care to address. They are going after State laws that are in favor of the purchaser.
After looking at trailers at our local dealers, I would not purchase anything coming out of Indiana. We decided to drive 2000 miles to purchase a Casita from the factory in Texas. Yes, it’s small but now it’s just the wife and I with our 15lb dog we really don’t need the space of a large trailer. A bonus feature is the truck and trailer fit into two standard sized parking spaces.
I have a Forest River and noticed insulation is almost non-existent. You freeze in the winter and summer the dual AC's never cycle off. Peeling wallpaper seems to be an issue in the forums as well as mine. Forest River is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway so I would hope Warren would build a quality product but it doesn't look that way. I'm comparing this to the Montana that I had which was a vey well built coach.

Thanks your for all you do, Liz. You're amazing!
Glad to hear this, thanks so much for your comment. Happy RV shopping and hope to see you on the road.
Hard to believe a brand new rv would have this many problems. That's outrageous.
I know it. For that amount of money you want it right. Thanks for watching.
Unfortunately this is what "American Made" often looks like.
I have a similar model and all of the exact same problems, every single problem. They are junk
@@ryanjean9448 Selling something so flawed, that costs so much money, should be a crime! I can't imagine how frustrating that must have been for you.
I would definitely not be that calm and even keeled going through that
This channel is becoming my guilty pleasure
Thanks for being here!
I love those little campers! If I were going to invest in one, it would be something like yours.
When there is a defective unit like this one, the manufacturer should take it back, so they can analyze it, and find out why the build quality was so low and how they can fix that!
Yes! That would be a great plan. Thanks for your comment.
Don't hold your breath.
What a 🍋
I made the mistake of my life when I bought a 2012 Big Horn 3610 RE Fifth wheel .It was brand new and a full load all optioned 5th wheel.
Yep! Hang onto that classic. They knew how to build them back then. Thanks for your comment!
My 1976 Coachmen was problem-free at 17 years old.
For these serious issues to happen with a unit supposedly only a month old when sold and two weeks in service is criminal. That floor had been soaked and rotting for more than 6 weeks
I know, it is so scary. Thanks for watching Beverly and stay tuned.
These videos have really woke me up. I used to want an RV, but no longer. Thanks for the wakeup call.
Good luck.
I know it. Thanks for watching and I hope to report back with an update.
Buy-Back! No if, ands, or buts! Keep up the great work Liz.
Thanks Steve. Please share if you can to help grow the reach of this video.
These two seem like very reasonable people. I'd probably be having a meltdown. I'm going to have faith Forest River is going to step up and do the right thing for them. Having such a good attitude and staying cool-headed should count for something.
Yes. I thought they made their case pretty well. Let's hope that Forest River steps up for them. Thanks for watching, Phyllis.
I think they should get a buy back . They thought they were getting a new unit ! Not a rebuild new unit . Thanks for helping Liz ! 😁
Thank you for sharing these Honest real Videos and helping so many! 150k Subscribers! Awesome
Thank you for being here! I couldn’t do it without you.
How are people STILL NOT getting an independent inspection on these death traps before the purchase.
I guess the word is still not out. I’m making these videos to help educate. Still, it’s on the manufacturer to deliver what is promised.
Impulse buying
Due to all the issues on this amazing channel, and other word of mouth, you must do a pre-purchase inspection. I feel bad because alot of these items would have been caught before they purchased.
I agree. An independent inspection should have found those issues before taking delivery.
You should not have to have a brand new unit inspected. The companies are required to provide what they advertise. I’ve bought new cars and never had them inspected privately a brand new RV should be safe and be EVERYTHING the company says it is. My gosh, it was brand new, not used.!
Should be a buyback! Thank You for your advocacy! RV Industry should start being held accountable for the garbage they are rolloing out the door!
Indeed. If only they would do basic things like put out a quality product and focus on the customer. Thanks for watching and stay tuned !
My wife and I had planned on purchasing a new Forest River RV but after this video scratch them off our purchase list.
I bet you are so happy to have found this video!!!
Liz, you continue to do amazing work!! Forest River should definitely do a buy back! Soft doors are indicative of ALOT of leaking water. I pray FR will do the right thing and give them their money back. Keep doing what ur doing Liz!!!
Every time I watch one of these I’m happy to have a little teardrop camper!!
💯 my thoughts as well! That would be my #1 priority and I would likely have the repair inspected after by an independent third party.
My wife and I are going through the exact same thing on a 2025 Forest River Grand Surveyor 305rlbs. Demand buy back!
There are no such thing as building codes, or a code inspector, for RV's. They are slapped together and rely on the dealerships to fix the low quality assembly. Speed and profit is the ultimate goal at the manufactures.
Thanks for the video Liz. I really hope your channel blows up again. Thank God for your support
Definitely should get a buyback. This is terrible! It will never be right, no matter the repairs.
That’s my concern too. Thanks for watching and stay tuned.
These two rocket scientists must be living under a rock if they don’t know about all the RV problems
Keep up the great work!
Thank you for being here! You make this channel what it is. Have a great weekend.
Thanks Liz for all that you do!!
Forest River should pay them punitive compensation…ridiculous…go Liz…
I know it. They've been through a lot with this. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for an update.
4. Don't even buy an RV. Stay in a hotel, so much cheaper and easier.
I was wondering when Forest River would make the channel...here we are. I love that sponge floor. To contrast our 18 ROO has a floor as solid as rock. We were tempted to buy a Roockwood Mini Lite....not happening.
Regardless of the brand name, Thor and Rev Group own like 80% of them. Both companies are garbage.
Agree. Don't buy anything from 2020 and newer.
Forest River should buy back as this is a Lemon.
We’ve had 4 Forest River trailers and love the quality, so Forest River do the right thing for these people.
Thanks for this, Bill. I hope Forest River does right by them. Stay tuned.
Good on you, Liz!
I always thought that I would get an RV when I retire and tour the country... not now.
Buy back for sure. Unreal to hear and see the poor quality! Thanks Liz for helping this family!
Forest River needs to step up and buyback this rv. Sickening to see the industry continue to manufacture these products.
I know it. It is so frustrating. I’m hoping Forest River does exactly that. Stay tuned and thanks for watching.
I sadly wouldn't expect much from FR.
they don't care about the product they sell. they just want your hard-earned CASH
Just fixing the floor alone would require welding ribs from one side of the frame to the other. The manufacturer and/or dealer aren’t going to do that.
A Buy Back is the only solution,
Shouting for people in the back "GET AN RV INSPECTION!"
A lot of dealers don't allow independent RV inspections on brand new RVs. They do have legit reasons to not allow "independent" inspectors on their lot to inspect the RV. This whole "Inspection" idea is kind of "Pie in the Sky". Unfortunately, I live in the real world.
@@scottmichaels12 What are their legit reasons and why is it pie in the sky?
And think about this, how many tens of thousands of people don't watch videos like this and have no clue this is going on?
Does anyone ever have a good experience with RVs? I watch a lot of these videos and it seems as if few, if any, report actually enjoying their RV.
YOU GET WHAT YOU pay for. Forest River RVs are cheap garbage.
Always have been! A 2 minute Google search could have saved them a lot of money.
Hey friend Heartland is the worst ! They broke our hearts . Spent 83G's on a piece of garbage with NO factory support of any kind.
Looking to buy. Which ones do you recommend?
Buy back time!! Forest River...your reputation is on the line. Either you back the product you sell or you don't.
If it’s falling apart like it is then the factory should but the unit back. Even if you get an inspector to look at a unit new they won’t be able to see anything wrong because it’s not in use.
That's true. An inspection is not foolproof. It's on the mfr to put out a solid unit from the get go. Thanks for watching, Wayne.
Wow, what a quality product!
Glad I did.
So glad I went with Scamp. Have had none of these issues and super happy.
Only thing I would accept for this "brand new" unit is a buyback. I have owned a 2015 motorhome for 7 years now and have never had any quality issues. Very sad.
Forrest River should 1000000 % be buying this unit back.
I don't even consider a Forest River product. Their products are at the bottom of the market right now.
We had a couple simple problems with our new Wildwood Forest River 32retx. We have camped 3 weeks with it this year
I had a forest river sierra 5th wheel , regretted buying it as well.
Simple camp needs to make more products
I wouldn’t be surprised if they do! Thanks for watching.
Hi Liz. Congratulations on 150 k subscribers! You worked hard for it! 🥰
The RV (many) manufacturers need to be brought before Congress. The manufacturers are fleeaseing the public because the quality and service problems never stop.
Looking forward to updates on this couple
Yes, thanks Mildred!
Seems like those of us that are the consumers should join forces and create our own high-quality RV manufacturer for which the bylaws would require it cannot be sold outside of the grass-roots shareholders -- never selling to a holding company nor a competitor. Great work as always, Liz.
That’s a great idea Jason! If you watched last weeks video, another idea is to create an RV consumer group. Thanks for watching and stay tuned.
WOW. Thanks for this info. I will no longer consider this manufacturer for many many reasons.
I feel this manufacturer should at the very least offer two choices:
1. Full refund for the complete unit plus refund for payments made to-date or...
2. Replacement unit with credit for payments made to date
My heart goes out to Richard and Andrea along with everyone else experiencing such unacceptable quality issues with their new RV's (bumper pull, 5th wheel, or fully drivable).
That back splash speaks volumes, that is entry level all day long
More like tar paper shack level.
The wheel bearing issue is indicative of bigger problems. Possibly alignment or bent parts. That alone should trigger a buy back.
Yes. Getting an inspection on new didn't used to be a thing, but now it is! Thanks for watching, Robert!
Buy back
That’s what I’m thinking, thanks for your comment George
Best RV station on YT
Thank you, Gene, please share this video to help these folks and the channel.
In most states, there are few to no regulations at all for the RV industry.
Buy back. Until these manufacturers stop making crap, then no question it should be a buy back. 🍻
If I was Forrest River I would make a video in which I showed what was defect and what I did to repair it. Good promotion.
Vocal Fry
As an RV owner, there is no such thing as a Fancy 5th wheel 😂
Love these problem videos. Keep them coming
Suspension warped and it was put together with glue.
It sure doesn't look good! Thanks for watching
