One of my closest friends recently got one of the same size RVs. His kids graduated college, got married. He sold his house and has been on the road for almost a year. Photos from his travels is making me really want to find a way to make this work. Me and him are both retired veterans with pensions so I would hope thats enough. Your RV is awesome, your a power couple =)
Great job. I have an older '91 24' Class C and was my home for myself for a while, and while I was working at a specific job location for a few months, I had a 20 lbs. propane tank hooked up with a T-fitting and shutoff valve, so I could carry the propane tank to get refilled, or swapped, as needed, and not having to move the RV. The RV tank was 40 lbs. and usually was not used much, unless I was in cold weather for the furnace. The sofa was a scissor type which doubled as a bed. As you state, the window awning are way more practical than the long ones usually on the passenger side, for all the reasons you stated. The roof solar panes is a great solution, and much better than rigid panel, both for installation issues and they just look better.Looks like you guys are well setup. Safe travels.
It’s so true! Frustrating looking at new ones and can’t find a floor plan we like more - and it even has real wood cabinets!! Those are harder to find than Bigfoot in newer RVs 🤣
Thanks so much!! Maybe something we’re not familiar with, but we definitely considered buying a new RV and couldn’t find any layouts like this! The only ones like it were the cruise america or rental company RV’s, but you can’t buy those ones directly. Let us know if there’s any models you know of!
Gab that was the most entertaining commentary I have yet heard! Thanks dor showing us your home without telling us about every single item in your storage space. I think both i side a d outsidd your home is lovely. Look after yourselves and have a great time traveling (and working) Best wishes from Aotearoa-New Zealand,
Hahaha aweee thank you!!! 😅❤️ We’ve watched a lot of tours and glad you noticed we tried to only show some of the highlights to make it a bit more engaging. Cheers!
Mice and small rodents can be a huge issue. In my extra clothes storage - fabric bags with zippers - I use satchets or dryer sheets. I normally use something with a lavendar smell. This keeps the mice out. Putting drops of peppermint oil in the window corners keeps ants and spiders at bay. RVs are notorious for thin windows. Similar to Japan, use bubble wrap with double-sided tape on the inside windows. They usually put the smooth side facing outward. This keeps cold/heat out. 😊😊 Your shower is HUGE for an RV!
A familiar story. We purchased a 2003 Fleetwood Tioga E450 with 42K miles on it in 2020 and restored it as well. We’ve put about 15K on it and never once have had any mechanical problem. We do all the regular maintenance like replacing belts, filters tranny and diff fluids. I resealed the roof two years ago . We put better tires on it and what a world of difference that made! Smoother, quieter ride and it feels more stable on the road. One huge esthetic thing we did was I masked off and spray painted the fading decals on the outside. Also, a wireless backup camera and TPMS system makes our travels safer and gives us piece of mind. Our bike rack holds two EBikes that give us freedom to leave the rig in the campground. We hope that your unit brings as much joy to your souls as ours does. Stay safe, BLESSINGS!
So glad to hear it’s all worked out for you, thanks for sharing! We have gone back and forth about owning something older but so far we’ve been happy with it! 🤞
I'm so excited that the algorithm recommended your video to me!! We have your exact RV but the 2003 model. I renovated ours in 2020, and we've loved being "driveway dwellers" to visit family and friends with our two dogs and using it for sporatic weekend/week camping trips. I'm absolutely stealing the magnets for the external doors and am beyond excited to binge a few more videos for additional ideas! ❤
Just Subscribed! We are currently living in Bangkok, Thailand. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and have been considering doing the RV life when we come back in a few years. Right? It’s been awesome for us! I wish someone made a newer RV model with the primary bed above the cab, bc yeah it creates SO much more living space 😄
Wow. That is a great rig! Have never seen that particular layout. We renovated our 2014 30" Class C, which I love, but I think you have more storage space inside than we do. We have a bedroom in the back but I personally love that overcab bunk space for naps and a reading loft. I love your layout. We also painted our cabinets white and you can do white caulk around those spaces where the paint is cracking and it should look finished. New sub!
Thank you!! We should’ve mentioned it but we made custom covers for the overhead bunk which helps so much for heat/insulation but you’re right it’s so cozy up there 😊 and thanks for the pro tip on caulking the cabinets! Definitely will give this a try!
I lived in a 27' motorhome class C.for 6 months. It is common for a bed to be above the cab in a class C. Thats one of the purposes of that style. There are plenty of them on the road. I think they are the best designed rv. Did a trip around the country in it. The best times!
That's awesome! And you're right that just about all class c's have the bunk cab over but the main difference is that is our only bed! Most other class 's the bunk is additional sleeping quarters
Great video! You can use paintable caulk for the cracks on your cabinets, and I keep our Landry baskets in the shower, pop them out to shower and pop them back in when we are done! hope that helps!
We were on the road full time for a few years, and we had a big mesh bag we would put in the shower for dirty laundry. Easy to pull out and take a shower. We had a 26' we bought from a relative that was a mess. My husband renovated and I came up with the decor. Hippie/Hawaiian. 😅 We now bought a house on the Oregon coast, miss all the traveling. Have a great time.
That's where I keep my laundry basket too. 😅 I'm in a '99 Montana 5th wheel but REALLY would love one like this for the mobility. I'm stationary now since I don't have a truck to move it. 😊
Great job with the remodel guys, it looks very spacious and comfortable. However, for me, there is no way on earth I could sleep up in the cab because with the way I sleep, I would have a broken bone every single night. I would be falling off that thing every 10 minutes.
New subscriber. So happy I found your channel. Retired and considering a drivable RV. Enjoying your vids. Really like the changes you’ve made. Am going through your vid list now. Thank you and look forwforward to the next one!!!
Makes us so happy to hear!! The adventure is out there, just gotta go get after it! Keep us posted on what you go with, we do like the drivable life for now 😁
Your Rv seems so huge inside. Especially the bathroom. You dont have alot of clutter so that helps even with gas mileage, to keep it simple. You really found a great rig! So Perfect to make your own. 💝
Great video! I have a suggestion for the thermostat: if you replace it with a smart thermostat (like MicroAir Easy Touch) you can control it from your phones when the slide is in. Nice renovation overall! Safe travels!
Class C’s are very common to have the bed above the cab. Unless the rv is under 20 feet. Ours is 30 feet and we have a queen bed above the cab and also a queen in the back that we can walk around 2 sides. Love the half booth/half chairs. That was a great idea. 😊. We keep our laundry bag in the shower. Most rv parks we have stayed at have really nice showers, so we rarely have used our shower. We have a small water heater. 7 min max showers.
You’re right about the over-the-cab bed, however ours is a bit unique because it’s the ONLY bed, which makes sense for us because we don’t need two 🤣 Just allows us to be smaller in size but still have everything we need! Interesting thought of laundry in the shower, might have to reconsider 🤔 Our setup “works” but feels like it could use an improvement haha, thanks!
I've found it fairly common for a bed to be over the cab in. Class c. It's usually in addition to the primary, though. In mine I used it as primary and where the corner bed was made storage under bed base, and used the platform area for my art studio and office space.
You've got a oven. You can cook a prime rib roast. Put it in a open pan. Its good for your Christmas dinner. 20 minutes per pound of meat. Its easy. Plus a couple of side dishes on top of your stove. And dont give up that turkey dinner either just because your in a trailer. Just get a small turkey breast and youll be good for a couple of days. Have fun and that renevation looks spectacular. From phil
I wish you had a video on the flooring and how you dealt with the slide out area. Is it floating or did you glue it down. Thanks, beautiful renovation.
Thanks so much! And great question, it is floating but we used stair edging since the slide is elevated from the floor about 2 inches. We also caulked around the wall edges! I would recommend siliconizer as it allows the most flex.
Best RV ever seen :) Personally I would put toilet inside shower and then install a laundry machine at the place of toilet. Just me though :) You guys are amazing !!! Very smart on what you did :)
Thanks so much! We're glad you found our channel 😄 We did a big trip this past summer but are still working through what we want to do next year - let us know if you have any fun ideas!
Really nice rebuild. Nice kitchen. That’s a big fridge, I have a 5.1 and it’s plenty big enough. ,, Pretty much every class c has an over cab bed. Funny how older class c used swappable 20 lb. Propane tanks which I like better anyways.
You can add an Extend-A-Stay attachment to your propane tank that allows you to have a external tank attached and you wont have to drive out to fill your propane. We had them on all our motorhomes and they are fantastic. Available on Amazon and really easy to fit.
New subscriber here. Nice rig. Cute dog. I'll have to do some catch up viewing. I'll be interested in your solar set up. It's a good thing you're so tiny. You fit above the cockpit. You're also easy to listen to. No gravely voice. Thanks.
Great job on the renovations. Newer RVs don't have that much storage on the exterior. Your interior renovation really opens up the whole inside. Air fryers are real game changers now. Stoves are not needed in RVs anymore. I'd rather have the storage space and use an air fryer, microwave, and crockpot. If you wanted to extend the counter space, you could add a drop down counter on the end. I love the half dinette and two chairs idea. Dinettes tend be a waste of space. Although I'd have to figure out where to put a litter robot to travel with cats. Perhaps use one of the storage areas under the slideout. And the cover on the front windshield was a great idea. Anyway, well done and you won't find anything close to this layout on the market in a new RV.
Thanks so much! We thought about the counter extension but we’ve surprisingly found that we don’t struggle with needing more space thank goodness. For a kitty litter spot wonder if the shower would work? Or the best would be building one. Like our black storage box we built that is on the right when you walk in? You could have that be a disguised litter box!
Nice, I believe the older units are better built, love the 450 heavy duty chassis versus the 350. Must have tremendous Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) Keeping the bed off the floor is a great idea for max floor space. Nicely done✌🏼
Just bought a 2006 25' Gulf Stream Conquest Class C. Would love to paint the inside, redo the bench seats, new curtains, etc - Just hard to find the time as I work full-time and have a house to maintain. Too cold now, maybe I will just do one section at a time...
That sounds fun! It's definitely something you can do a section at a time on weekends or whatever. Id recommend making a project plan of everything you want to do to help it from feeling overwhelming/never-ending 😅
Newer models of class C’s.. (ours is a 2012) don’t come with ovens. When we bought ours we had the option for the oven or 3 drawers instead. We chose the storage.
That’s nice to have the option! We thought we’d use ours for storage but just never really open it haha. Dedicated storage is a bit more practical for sure!
Hello. I have a 30” class c. Noticed your tool box. I have too many tools from my late husband Could you please give me an idea on the minimum tools I should have on my ? Asked my sons but they couldn’t help me cause they no nothing about RVing full time 😝. Thank you 🙏
I would say a tape measure, screw drivers (flathead and philips), a drill, air compressor for tires, flashlight, zip ties, pliers, hammer, and a socket/wrench set would be a really good kit to get you through most stuff! Other things that might be helpful is a hammer, utility knife, plumbers tape, caulk gun+sealant, a multimeter, and extra fuses
Do the flexible panels work pretty well? Just curious if your solar setup works well for your power usage? And how much power do the 2 of you use per day? Just curious because I also have a class C that I'm remodeling
They’ve worked okay - allowed us to be off grid consistently for a few months straight (with no AC) powering our starlink, air fryer, electric kettle, stuff like that no problem. Did the trick for the first year but we’re already thinking about replacing with rigid panels due to a few that have stopped producing. We were hoping the durability would be a little better. We have a few videos going into more details about our solar setup if you’re interested!
Thank you for sharing. Do you have the manual for the Ford 450 super-duty? It's not the house part but just the truck part. I have the same and need a manual for this part. Will pay for a copy if you have one.
We don’t have a physical copy but just search google for it if we ever need something. Just search “2002 ford e450 manual” or whatever specifically and something should come up with a pdf copy
@@margaretb2269 We'll see, pretty happy for the time being. For the two of us (+ pup) it's a great size. We do love being in an RV, and would be able to go significantly bigger if we wanted to, but I think if anything we'd want to size down a bit if we were to get something else. Just prioritize drivability/efficiency a little bit more than living space but everyone's different!
What type/brand of paint did you use on the walls and cabinets? We bought an older RV recently and are doing some renovation on it. Your walls look fantastic! Thanks. Happy Trails.
Thanks for the suggestion! It's definitely something we've thought about if we upgrade our AC. They also make ones much quieter and more efficient now which would be nice
Thank you! Of course it depends on your lifestyle, but we averaged about 3k/month on our 6 month trip, which was surprisingly very similar to when we lived in an apartment. Just swapped out our rent for gas money I guess 🤷😂
It looks like you have more room and storage in your 27' than I did in my 2013 28' Jaco Jaybird with slide out trailer. I got rid of mine because it was too big for just me.
Did you go to a smaller trailer then? We first considered going with a smaller trailer to pull with a Tacoma/Ranger or something but none of them felt like they had enough room. Also didn’t want a big truck/trailer bc of difficulty maneuvering, so that’s why we landed on this! 😅
Thank you!! This heavily varies as we do a lot of boondocking (free camping) and then do our best to stick to state parks which can average $20-$40/night. Hope this helps!
Having a bed over the cab in a class C is extremely common... That's kind of what makes them a class C 😂. I will say however, your bathroom is unusual, and it's fantastic! I don't think I've ever seen that setup in a class. C. As for the "where do you put your laundry?" question- it goes in the shower. No, really. Ask any RVer... The laundry basket or laundry bag rides in the shower.
The uncommon part is that it’s the ONLY bed in the RV - we haven’t seen that in another C Class (except for some rentals) but LOVE it! And yeah bathroom is pretty spacious, don’t even know how to use all of it haha
We’re in the last key, key west! We’re fortunate that Gaby’s parents own a campground so we don’t pay rent, but most campgrounds are quite expensive around $2k-$4k/month depending on the season.
I replaced all the interior incandescent lights in our travel trailer with LED lights. They were cooler and brighter but they have not lasted. They were expensive but began flashing after just one or two seasons. I would be interested to know if your LED interior lights have survived the life on the road. Thanks!

That floor plan is everything. It's rare that manufacturers can be bothered with a toilet closet these days.
It’s so true! Frustrating looking at new ones and can’t find a floor plan we like more - and it even has real wood cabinets!! Those are harder to find than Bigfoot in newer RVs 🤣
Over the cab bed is super common as the only bed in shorter class Cs.

Thanks! Yeah swappable tanks would be so nice. Having an on board one makes us reaally hesitant to use our furnace, cuz it’s a pain to go refill
Good job guys!
Thank you!! 😊
It’s huge. I love it
Thank you so much!!
This is great progress! Good job!
Thank you so much! 🫶
Looks great. Love the layout.
Thanks, we really tried to make the most of the space!
I love your rv home you guys have made that place look very welcoming and open
Thank you! It’s been super comfy in the time we’ve had it 😄
Thank you are so beautiful yourself. And Thank You so very much. Me and my husband are in our sixty . We want to travel like you are doing.
Awe thank you so much! Hope you get to travel full-time soon!
This is a great video. My goal is to buy 2026 to Omie an RV and live in it full-time.
Thank you! That is so awesome - your future self thanks you for setting goals and making your dream come true!! (this is how we felt ❤️)
best floor plan I've seen
We love it! Wish more manufacturers made something like it!
LOVE IT
THANK YOU
You can add an Extend-A-Stay attachment to your propane tank that allows you to have a external tank attached and you wont have to drive out to fill your propane. We had them on all our motorhomes and they are fantastic. Available on Amazon and really easy to fit.
This is so interesting, have never heard of this before so will definitely look into it. Thanks for sharing!!
Wow this layout is awesome!
New subscriber here. Nice rig. Cute dog. I'll have to do some catch up viewing. I'll be interested in your solar set up. It's a good thing you're so tiny. You fit above the cockpit. You're also easy to listen to. No gravely voice. Thanks.
Thank you for the kind words! We’re actually 6’2 and 5’7, I wouldn’t say we’re small haha. But the cabover is still pretty comfy for us!
I’m in love with your RV. I want one!!!!
Thank you!! It’s been working out well for us 😄
I really like this RV it's so sweet
Awee thank you so much - it’s short and sweet 😜
Very cool!
Thank you!
Nice, I believe the older units are better built, love the 450 heavy duty chassis versus the 350. Must have tremendous Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) Keeping the bed off the floor is a great idea for max floor space. Nicely done✌🏼
Thanks so much! The CCC is great and yeah love how open it feels!
Really nice RV!
Thank you! 😊
My goal this year is to get a class c motorhome to move into and live in it full time
Hell yeah! Let us know if you have any questions with the process/any video ideas that would be helpful :)
Wonderful
Thank you!
I’ve been waiting for this video ‼️
Your reno is next!!
great video! Subscribed!
Awesome, thank you!
Use the oven for pots and pans storage!
We don't really use pots and pans since we cook just about everything in the air fryer but maybe tupperware?
Great video.
Just subscribed.
Looking forward to following your journey.
Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️
Great job
Enjoy your home😊😊
Thank you!! Appreciate the positive vibes 😊
Nice setup❤
Thank you 😁
We have been living in our motor home for 4 years; we keep our laundry basket in the shower and just remove it when we need to shower.
We’ve heard this from a few comments and no idea why we didn’t think of this before!! Thank you!
You two appear to be the most organized RV-life people I've come across!
Haha thank you!! We definitely can be wayyyy better but have come a far way from when we first started 😉
If you should have additional to your family, would you give up this comfortable home?
@@margaretb2269 We'll see, pretty happy for the time being. For the two of us (+ pup) it's a great size. We do love being in an RV, and would be able to go significantly bigger if we wanted to, but I think if anything we'd want to size down a bit if we were to get something else. Just prioritize drivability/efficiency a little bit more than living space but everyone's different!
@@gabandbrenGood answer, particularly to what I consider to be a pretty personal question. Class👍🏻🇨🇦
Can you gut the oven, completely unhook it so no accidental turn ons, and build it into laundry storage?
That would be cool! In theory you could cap the propane but I haven’t seen it done - thanks for the idea!
I love it!
Thank you! 😊
Nice renovation 😃👍
Appreciate it!! 👏
At 9:09 "Welcome to our humble abode."
Thank you! Mind was somewhere else at the time 😂
What type/brand of paint did you use on the walls and cabinets? We bought an older RV recently and are doing some renovation on it. Your walls look fantastic! Thanks. Happy Trails.
Thank you!! We used Behr Marquee! It’s a bit more than their base offering but it’s been plenty durable and easy to clean so definitely recommend.
Maybe consider upgrading the ac control to one that can be operated with an app on your cellphone/laptop or iPad.
Thanks for the suggestion! It's definitely something we've thought about if we upgrade our AC. They also make ones much quieter and more efficient now which would be nice
Loved the informative. Well done. Cost of living?
Omgosh this is the kid thefrom sleepaway camp movie
Man just tried to look up and can’t find who you’re referring to! Never seen the movie 🤣
Great video. How much do you pay for the spaces to park your RV? Thank you!
Nice!
Thank you! 😊
Love it..where are you in the keys..about how much does it cost thank you
We’re in the last key, key west! We’re fortunate that Gaby’s parents own a campground so we don’t pay rent, but most campgrounds are quite expensive around $2k-$4k/month depending on the season.
Can I pleeez get info on window shades!!!! Beautiful!!
Totally! Which windows though, the window shades in the overhead cab?
I replaced all the interior incandescent lights in our travel trailer with LED lights. They were cooler and brighter but they have not lasted. They were expensive but began flashing after just one or two seasons. I would be interested to know if your LED interior lights have survived the life on the road. Thanks!
Man that's a bummer! We've had good luck with ours so far - hopefully that will continue but will keep that in mind. Thanks!
