Actually, Lordi got the biggest amount of votes ever. During the older traditional voting system though, Lordi got the most points there'd ever been.

Sorry but the best selling ESC song was 'Volare" by Domenico Modugno, Italy, in 1958 / It sold more than 22 million copies all over the world, it was no. 1 in USA top chart, and it is still the most covered song in ESC with something like 60 fdifferent covers.
Ok but loreens live performance of euphoria was th epitome of talent portrayed in eurovision to this date. The flexibility of her vocal range while moving like that.
If you ask me... 1. Fairytale - Alexander Rybak 2. Molitva - Marija Šerifović 3. Waterloo - Abba 4. Nel blu dipinto di blu (Volare) - Domenico Modugno 5. Hard Rock Hallelujah - Lordi
+Andrés F.S. (andresfonsilva) OK, thanks, I had no idea Domenico's song was on Eurovision!!! What, they DIDN"T EVEN MENTION IT??? COME ON, it's an alltime hit!!! Much better and more famous than Waterloo!
+Milica Dajovic Although it placed 3rd back in 1958, It's commercially successful and overwhelmingly well received. BTW, this video should be renamed... maybe "Best Eurovision-winning songs".
+Andrés F.S. (andresfonsilva) Ohhh you were SO close, Molitva is my No1 best Eurovision song of all time, Marija Serifovic was singing with SO much passion that the song seemed like a true story, she gave emotion and soul more than any other singer, Molitva is and propably will always be the greatest Eurovision song, i'm SHOCKED that Mojo didin't put Serbia, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SUGGEST IN WATCHMOJO PAGE "Another Top 10 Best Eurovision songs" ? please guys suggest this idea, i want Mojo to include Serbia in the list Top 10 Best of the best Eurovision songs of all time: #1 SERBIA 2007 #2 GRANDE Italy 2015 (Let's be honest now, Italy is the TRUE winner of 2015, Italy won the Televoting, Sweden didin't even finish 2nd, Grande Amore not only is the best song of 2015 but this song is MASTERPIECE, it's almost the best Eurovision song ever #3 Denmark 13 #4 Norway 09 #5 Russia 08 #6 Iceland 09 #7 Austria 14 #8 Turkey 03 #9 Ukraine 04 #10 Finland 06
+George Moschos Marija was excellent. I never saw so much passion and strength done in an Eurovision competition. And the song! On and on, Eurovision is a song contest and "Molitva" is just amazing: lyrics, structure... I'm colombian, i had no clue what the lyrics were about (only the meaning of "Molitva"), so back in the day I used to relate the song to the balkans conflict, I don't know why. Anyway, it was so captivating. This list is kinda superficial. They should make another list, maybe, in occasion of the next Eurovision, including masterpieces like Molitva.
Sund Jeffrey Wait what are you talking about? I meant that the song represents the finnish culture in it's own way (btw if you meant "What does finnish mean?" It means the country of Finland in language/citizen form... But I think that's not the case here...)
1st I LIVE IN FINLAND 2nd ok in it's own way then but it's a bit weird to say Lordi is like finnish culture when everything they do is american and english XD
How it's mostly little countries voting for russia (so they aren't invaded) PS I know this year not many countries gave Russia Max points and they haven't won In like A decade but still they are always in top 3 witch is just annoying
if fairytale wasn't on this list I would have been so angry, think it deserves a higher spot to be honest. it had scored the highest score in the entire competition
That was my second favorite Eurovision winner. However, didn't 2016's winner Ukraine beat the old record with 147 points, with a total score of 534 points. 2016 runner-up Australia got 511 point, 124 points more than Norway's Fairy tale. But still, it still has the highest margin ever, with a margin of 169 points from the runner-up. Maybe you meant it had the highest score when the video was made.
and Rybak only had the highscore because around 2005 the contest changed and the competing countries almost doubled (from around 25 to up to 43). so it's also not fair to say scored the highest score. Anne-Marie David is the real Queen, she got 80,6% of the maximum possible points, Rybak "only" 78,6%
What I'm try to say!Is this!Abba! On the stream of ricchi e poveri! Made their success!Nothing wrong with that! But they sang in English!Like most do today! If they would sing in their mother language? They would be like the Italians! So nothing!
IronAlchemist6 If gwar didnt come first then maybe. But unless GWAR ripped it off someone else then they are eh at best haha. They dont make great music all they got is the theatrics of their characters and shows which isn't original.
zazuch gwar is alien heavy metal while lordi has demonic look with a hard rock sound which reduces their overall feel as an epic group but where tjey shine is dedication and interesting backstory on the characters they dress as, i dont know alot about gwar, ive seen a couple of videos and im impressed on their costumes and great sound
zazuch I don't care about the costumes, but GWARs music is fucking horrible. I can't listen to that shit. A group of 12 year olds could make better music
One thing this list failed to mention was that Lordi was Finland's first, and so far also only Eurovision winner. Also, it won both the semifinals AND the finals.
who else but ABBA could have been no.1 , but im suprised that the Danish Olsen brothers didnt even make the honorable mention, imo that song was so good xD
Norways does NOT know how to pick their contributions, we have the spot of most last places and most "zero points", heavily outweighing our three wins :P
Daaria Naharis it‘s not always about the song but rather about politics:) so the song can be rlly good but if ur country has pissed of the others recently you don‘t rlly have to bother going
SHE’S GOT HER LIPSTICK ONNNN HERE I COOOMME DA DA DUHN 😂😂😂 They could have shown Eric Saade, Alex Sparrow, Raphael Gualazzi, Ell and Nikki, Lena’s other song, or even Blue from that year, but nooooooo they had to put Jedward in hahaha.
This is not your average complaint. These are legitimate concerns with this list. 1. An objective f**k-up that nobody can defend. For "Fångad av en Stormvind" as your 'honorable mention', you're not even playing the actual song, but the postcard greeting preceding it. HUGE ERROR. 2. Johnny Logan as merely an honorable mention? The man won Eurovision thrice (though only as a composer on the third) and out of those songs, his arguably more successful song was "Hold Me Now". 3. "Rise Like a Phoenix" being on this list is honestly shameful. Dont get me wrong, it is fantastic. But lets also be honest here, the song didn't win that year. Conchita Wurst did. We voted for her majestic beard, wonderful attitude and political message. Not for her song. It is just another ballad. 4. Jedward as an 'honorable mention'? "Lipstick" finished 8th, what the actual f**k?! You pick it over (for example) 97's "Love Shine Like A Light" which was the only song to receive 200+ points until 2004? 5. I agree. "Diva" was a controversial choice. 'Controversial' as in why would you include it, considering it received no international fame beyond Eurovision and was forgotten pretty quickly? I'm trying to stay objective in my rant here. Your list is otherwise great, but you honestly made some serious mistakes. I hope to see a revised version soon. I'm only saying this because I love you, WatchMojo, and want to see you improve. :)
Considering one might reply "I'd like to see you put together a better list", here it is: 1. Waterloo (Sweden)(1974) 2. Fairytale (Norway)(2009) 3. Euphoria (Sweden)(2012) 4. Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi (Switzerland)(1988) 5. Hold Me Now (Ireland)(1987) 6. Hard Rock Hallelujah (Finland)(2006) 7. Wild Dances (Ukraine)(2004) 8. Satellite (Germany)(2010) 9. J'aime La Vie (Belgium)(1986) 10. Only Teardrops (Denmark)(2013) Honorable Mentions: Molitva (Serbia)(2007) Fångad Av En Stormvind (Sweden)(1991) Everyway That I Can (Turkey)(2003) Save Your Kisses For Me (United Kingdom)(1976) What's Another Year (Ireland)(1980) :P
Carolus Rex I agree with most of the things you said, but I do disagree with you on Conchita Wurst. At least in my opinion, I think her song was downright beautiful. Yes, in a way it is "just another ballad" but I think the overall message and performance of said ballad was so strong and touching, it has definitely become one of my favourite Eurovision songs ever. When I watch Eurovision, and listen to the music, I also judge it by the performance. And the performance gives me chills everytime. Just my opinion. :)
+Carolus Rex I agree with you on some but beg to differ on others. 1- Diva was among the most successful ESC songs. The song even chartered in the US unlike Only Teardrops which you had in your list as well as J'aime La Vie, Satellite and Fairytale. Whether it was Dana International or Diva that won the competition, it is still one of the most memorable years in Eurovision media coverage. 2- if Celine Dion wasn't the singer that she is today, Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi wouldn't have been even mentioned. 3- Save Your Kisses for me is still one of the most successful commercial Eurovision song. The numbers speak for themselves and the song went to become an international hit. 4- Wild Dances wasn't a commercial success in 2004. Ruslana herself admitted that the song is all about the performance. Don't forget, Ruslana herself became famous world wide due to her involvement in the Ukrainian Revolution in 2005 much more than her winning. 5- I definitely agree with you on Conchita but I also think the performance was outstanding! It definitely added to the votes the fact of the beard but also don't forget the conservative countries/judges that voted for Conchita. Euphoria is without a single doubt, the most successful ESC song in this century. wayyy beyond the others.
+Starchild91 I honestly agree with Carolus Rex, Conchitas song was pretty generic and easily forgetable, to me at least, and from what I can tell of my surroundings most people agree with me on that. Wurst and the live performance won it, not the song itself.
Why are you not playing Fångad av en stormvind at 11:25? The song that is playing is NOT the one it says. It made me very disappointed, it deserved some credit...
+Josefine Lagerström It sounds like it could be the translated version, back then the artists had to record their number in everyone of the different languages for the judges to listen to (behind the scenes). But yes it's not the right song really, and that's a shame.
+vrenak No, it's not the song. That year was in Italy and each artist was introduced singing something Italian. Karola was singing Unite Europe Unite in Italian. It definitely wasn't Fångad av en Stormvind, which is a pity because it was a great performance and it won.
+blotski I thought she was singing "Non voglio mica la luna" by Fiordaliso. She made a Swedish cover called "Amore", so she was familiar with the melody. Either way, it's not Fångad av en stormvind :(
Celine Dion's song is most definitely *not* considered as one of the most popular ESC winners, LOL ;) It's only because of her subsequent career that it's got any credit at all... Nice list otherwise, but so many great entries left out, obviously as only 10 fit, but still...

Sorry but the best selling ESC song was 'Volare" by Domenico Modugno, Italy, in 1958 / It sold more than 22 million copies all over the world, it was no. 1 in USA top chart, and it is still the most covered song in ESC with something like 60 fdifferent covers.
She said the best selling Esc winner from Sweden.
Abba is close with like 400-700 million sold albums… ooops 🤘

Gotta love that Carolas "Fångad av en stormvind" doesn't have the right song when played in this video lol
Ok but loreens live performance of euphoria was th epitome of talent portrayed in eurovision to this date. The flexibility of her vocal range while moving like that.
When it said “Carola - Fångad av en stormvind” you playd another song
Exactly, this italian song is called "Non voglio mica la luna" by Fiordaliso. San Remo Festival.
That`s how you know they never listened to any of these songs before.
I literally thought that she was Norwegian or something..
@@ItsWhyUno She is Swedish... which made it even more strange to play a song in Italian when the title is in Swedish.

5. Hard Rock Hallelujah - Lordi

They should make another list, maybe, in occasion of the next Eurovision, including masterpieces like Molitva.

if fairytale wasn't on this list I would have been so angry, think it deserves a higher spot to be honest. it had scored the highest score in the entire competition
Anne-Marie David is the real Queen, she got 80,6% of the maximum possible points, Rybak "only" 78,6%
***** but still had the highest, so yeah it is fair to say he had the highest, cause you know thats how numbers work
387 is bigger then 534... you sure you know how numbers work?!?
+Florian karl With 2016's system Rybak has 690 points (or with old system Jamala wouldn't even be a winner) which is much bigger score than 534

Lordi is so epic
IronAlchemist6 Not really. Pretty bad song tbh, nothing really original

They included only the winners
DANCIN
Riley Ann Barnitz Ukraine was missing anyway
they have so many good songs
Russian needed to be mentioned at least in Honorable Mentions
That was a good one. As was the 2004 Ukraine winner, which should have at least got an honourable mention.
Considering one might reply "I'd like to see you put together a better list", here it is:
1. Waterloo (Sweden)(1974)
2. Fairytale (Norway)(2009)
3. Euphoria (Sweden)(2012)
4. Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi (Switzerland)(1988)
5. Hold Me Now (Ireland)(1987)
6. Hard Rock Hallelujah (Finland)(2006)
7. Wild Dances (Ukraine)(2004)
8. Satellite (Germany)(2010)
9. J'aime La Vie (Belgium)(1986)
10. Only Teardrops (Denmark)(2013)
Honorable Mentions:
Molitva (Serbia)(2007)
Fångad Av En Stormvind (Sweden)(1991)
Everyway That I Can (Turkey)(2003)
Save Your Kisses For Me (United Kingdom)(1976)
What's Another Year (Ireland)(1980)
:P
Carolus Rex I agree with most of the things you said, but I do disagree with you on Conchita Wurst. At least in my opinion, I think her song was downright beautiful. Yes, in a way it is "just another ballad" but I think the overall message and performance of said ballad was so strong and touching, it has definitely become one of my favourite Eurovision songs ever. When I watch Eurovision, and listen to the music, I also judge it by the performance. And the performance gives me chills everytime. Just my opinion. :)
Ireland 1994 was the first song to get over 200 points
Loreen singing Euphoria will ALWAYS be my favourite Eurovision song/performance!, Amazing singer, Amazing song!
Amy G I know! It's the only one that makes me cry. Good tears though. It's just beautiful.
Agree!!! The best!! And the Album Heal... amazing!!!
Why had I no idea that Celine Dion was in Eurovision?? Lmao.
Btw this is more like "the most popular Eurovision songs".
Why are you not playing Fångad av en stormvind at 11:25? The song that is playing is NOT the one it says. It made me very disappointed, it deserved some credit...
WatchMojo.com Please answer.
+Josefine Lagerström It sounds like it could be the translated version, back then the artists had to record their number in everyone of the different languages for the judges to listen to (behind the scenes). But yes it's not the right song really, and that's a shame.
Snälla tyst
+vrenak No, it's not the song. That year was in Italy and each artist was introduced singing something Italian. Karola was singing Unite Europe Unite in Italian. It definitely wasn't Fångad av en Stormvind, which is a pity because it was a great performance and it won.
+blotski I thought she was singing "Non voglio mica la luna" by Fiordaliso. She made a Swedish cover called "Amore", so she was familiar with the melody.
Either way, it's not Fångad av en stormvind :(
