All the Gold in California by the Gatlin Brothers, and Turn Around by Foster and Lloyd are two that I'd put on your list.
Kansas- carry on my wayward son.
Anything by The Seekers, but particularly The Carnival is Over and Morningtown Ride, Anything by Steeleye Span, but particularly All Around My Hat and King Henry. Anything by Jethro Tull, but particularly Skating Away and Songs from the Wood.
Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft by The Carpenters and Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf, also hit me hard.
None of these, but I thank you for trying.
I can't believe The Carpenters aren't on this list. Their harmonies are gorgeous, especially We've Only Just Begun.
Karen's harmonies with Richard (and herself) are just magical. Can't agree with you more.
💯
Right!!? I’m sorry but The Carpenters vocals were top tier!
Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft😅
"Top of the World"
I would have expected the Bee Gees to have a spot in this line up!
They didn’t even mention QUEEN! Absolute crap list!
💯!! Inimitable harmonies by The Bee Gees.
Exactly!
This is a crummy list, and the commentary is annoying.
You overlooked the Hollies' He Ain't Heavy (he's my brother)
In my opinion, all of Abba's songs had perfect harmonies when Agneta and Anafrid were singing together with Bjorn and Benny singing along.
Crosby, Stills & Nash’s harmonies give me chills, even after all these years.
YES!!!!! I remember when 'Wasted on the Way" came out and we thought it was a chorus and it was Crosby stills and nash. That will ever be my reminiscing song
@@alysiara Southern Cross and Suite: Judy Blue Eyes make me think about the “olden days.” Their harmonies were so beautiful on all of their songs tho.
I thought, for sure, CSNY would be at the top.
"Carry On"...brings back memories I can taste!
Deja Vu!
BIG names missing 😮Carpenters, Queen, Bee Gees, Four Seasons, The Seekers
The Four Seasons? Really? Fankie Valli's voice is atrocious.
...and Peter, Paul, and Mary.
Little River Band.
And Moody Blues.
Bee Gees for sure. Temptations. And the Beatles in about 100 different songs.
The Everly Brothers harmonies are so heavenly, nobody did it better. Their songs sounded great in the 50's and still sound great today, their music is timeless.
You can't put all the songs that were the 60's just glad I live it and grew up with the 60's music.
For me, Kansas's "Carry On Wayward Son" is one of the most epic and powerful harmonies ever, more so because it's acapella! Tough to top!
Yeah, that song is on every top 100 pop/rock song lists I've ever heard. It is simply great.
Excellent
How can you forget the lush, complex harmonies of the The Association's "Cherish", "Never My Love", "Along Comes Mary", "Under Branches", & so many more
They had the most complex and beautiful harmonies I have ever heard! Should be in the top 2!
Yes! I just posted about The Association
Yeah? What about "Girl" by the Beatles?
Yes the Association is one of my all time favorite groups. Along Comes Mary brings back memories of happier times Summer of 1966, graduation from high school, last really free summer. It was an anti drug song, ahead of its time. I love to sing along, but you gotta sing fast. Another song of theirs I like is a unique song called "Requiem For the Masses. " About a soldier in Vietnam, poor sucker catches a bullet and wanders off into the jungle to die. Tells of the thoughts going thru his head as he lay there expiring. A very scathing anti-war song.
Requiem for the Masses has astonishing harmonies and soul-shaking tight blended harmony in the performance. If it's not on this list something is wrong.
Queen doesn’t even get a MENTION despite being literally world-renowned for their vocals. Mojo - “Duh, let’s make a list without them or The Bee Gees!”
I was going to say: where are The Bee Gees?!
Exactly what I was thinking! I thought Bohemian Rhapsody would be number 1.
What about Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young?
Maybe it has a part two isn't it hahaha.
I hope that there will be a continuation.
@@kimannelockart Find the Cost of Freedom would be my top pick for this list... alas...
Anybody remember We Five? That was gorgeous, just flawlessly blended harmonic layering. When I Woke Up This Morning . . .
Yes!
You were on my mind.
Besides the list, some of my other favorites:
The Four Seasons- Sherry, Rag Doll, their entire catalogue
Wilson Phillips- Hold On, You're In Love, entire catalogue
Penatonix- entire catalogue
Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, any song they did harmony for
Three Dog Night- entire catalogue, and I really love Shambala
Chapel Hart- You Can Have Him Jolene
Any Motown girl group or guy group like The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas, etcetera.
Philly Soul groups like The Spinners, The Chi Lites, McFadden and Whitehead, etcetera
Hall & Oates-entire catalogue
Any 50s vocal group like The Platters, The Five Satins, etcetera
Okay, I could name many many more but I'm quite tired of typing!😂😂😂😂
Helplessly Hoping by Crosby, Stills,& Nash is even better than Wooden Ships. Pure harmony
Absolutely - many more CSN
I was going to mention them ❤ love all of their music
"Suite: Judy Blue Eyes", "Southern Cross", "Find the Cost of Freedom"...
@@jamesdignanmusic2765Helplessly Hoping
and Guinnevere!@@jamesdignanmusic2765
“More than Words” 1992. Chills up and down my arms!
Missed that one on the list!
After you get past a little chuckle at what you're seeing/ hearing, the cover by Jack Black & Jimmy Fallon is also pretty solid
The last bar band I was in covered their version of "Hole-Hearted", all four of them singing. Sure wish I had a recording of that.
Beautiful song!
Yeah especially the one by Jack Black & Jimmy Fallon :)
Singing in harmony is not easy. It takes a lot of work. But when you finally "hit it" it is one of the most incredible feelings.
"Silence is Golden" by the Tremeloes is a great example of harmony.
Absolutely The Tremolos!
The Four Seasons version is also fabulous. (Some say even better.)
@@jimlowell5251 Thanks for pointing out the Four Seasons version of Silence is Golden. I listened to the Four Seasons version and noted a difference. The Four Season version has a slightly slower tempo with a softer group harmony voice tone whereas the Tremeloes sound stronger in voice tone and more emotional with a quicker tempo.. The Tremeloes version is what takes me back to a summer of my early bitter-sweet teen years of the sixties.
@@jimlowell5251 I wasn't aware they ever recorded it. I'll seek it out.
The Association had exquisite harmonies. “Everything That Touches You” is a perfect example.
Yes! Also “Never my love” and “Names, Tags, Numbers and Labels”… all their songs
I love The Association. They harmonized wonderfully.
The theme song from Goodbye Columbus sticks in my mind much more than the movie ever did!
Absolute favor from Assocations. Just a masterpiece.
Check out 'Requiem For The Masses'.
Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons "Who Loves You", The Bee Gees "How Deep Is Your Love" & The Carpenters "Close to You".
Silence is golden and Dawn by the four seasons are my favorite harmonies by this group.
Yes, yes, and definitely yes!!
With 50 - # 1 Hits, it was hard too beat the Four Seasons !
Who Loves You is one of my favorite songs. I’ve watched the video for it numerous times. Gonna go do that now
To Love Somebody😍🫶🏽😥😭😭😭
No song gives the chills like your #7 pick God Only Knows. It's a masterclass in vocal harmonies as is their Wouldn't It Be Nice. The Beach Boys are the very tippy top of the toppermost.
Especially the video version in the studio that speaks to Brian's drive for exactly the way he wanted it performed. THEN listen to the finished product.
Yup. Chills.
A good friend passed on me a couple of years ago.
I was with him every day for a few years.
I knew he had a heart problem, and I would do things after hours at the shop so he didn’t have to.
I wouldn’t let him.
One day, he was in great pain, and had two forms of stage four cancer.
Three weeks later…
I was scrolling through music, and came across The Byrds, Turn,Turn,Turn.
They didn’t have the song, but the funeral director did better.
He read the verses directly from the Book of Ecclesiastes.
We all miss you, Tony.
I'm a Gen-Z'er but have always lived for 70's music, my favorite band being ABBA. I realize now that the only common denominator I can find between all of my favorite artists are strong vocal harmonies.
Same
DITTO, absolutely LOVE ABBA!!! ❤❤❤
ABBA is the best!
"Chiquitita"
I would have chosen Chiquitita rather than Thank you for the Music as ABBA 's best harmonies. I love all of ABBA 's songs, but Chiquitita is total 100% perfection in harmony!
How do you go through this and not have a single entry from Peter, Paul and Mary--even as an "honorable mention?"
I was about to write this! They should have been included!
Check out 'All My Trials'
It could be the reason so many of these songs are older is there was true talent back in the day.
can I have your autograph
You hit the nail squarely on the head! That sums it up perfectly!
Sadly, pop songwriting has gotten much less sophisticated over the decades. Complex harmonies and chord progressions are much less common today.
@@JohnMunsonSLU All you need now is a few chimpanzees with a guitar and one with drum sticks who can inconsistently use the required four chords then string along 37 successive cuss words and you've got a hit. Being able to sing is not require and if you spit and slobber like a brainless monkey then you can do rap, too. I suspect that the industry forgot to put the C in front of rap because the people running it aren't intelligent enough to spell it correctly. It's all no talent noise now.
The harmonies of Danny, Cory and Chuck are what made Three Dog Night one of the best.
Three Dog Night "Easy To Be Hard!"
The official version of "Too Much Heaven" by the BeeGees is the most perfect harmony that I have ever heard.
"Run to me" and also when they backed Andy on "Don't Throw it All Away."
Islands In The Stream. Tragedy. Among MANY other options by the BeeGees.
Most perfect???
I think he meant perfectest.@@iamtheelephantintheroom1884
Have you heard it accapella? It'll blow your mind! Google search it.
Of course the Beach Boys have to be on this list, but what about Good Vibrations? That's the one that gets me every time.
Almost as great as 'God Only Knows'.
As far as harmony, "In my room" is just as good. Plus "I can hear music" and "Don't Worry Baby"... Too many to pick just one.
Agreed. I really love that one (and will sing along with it).
Of all the Beach Boy's songs the one with the best harmonies is Wendy. Wendy left me alone, hurts so bad
I'm in Paul McCartney's camp. God Only Knows.
I'm surprised something by Earth, Wind, and Fire hasn't been mentioned, like "After the Love Is Gone." Great harmonies. Also, The Lettermen had a great blend of harmonies.
I was watching a beachboys documentary a few years back and it went in depth on how the harmonies of the Lettermen were perhaps the greatest influence on young Brian Wilson as he would play the Letterman albums for days at a time and spoke of this in an interview. Naturally I then had to begin listening to them and wow, it's amazing. It's almost like Brian is doing the arrangements for them. Glad I saw that documentary and have added the Lettermen on my "harmony-centric" playlist along with the Beachboys, CSNY, 3 Dog Night, Queen. ABBA, Bee Gees, Momma's & Poppa's, Cowsills, E.W and Fire, The Association, Peter-Paul& Mary, Certain Beatle songs with lush vocal arrangements, Manhattan Transfer, and a good grouping of individual songs that have harmonic magic.
Moody Blues, "Lovely to See You", when they sing the line "Where empires have turned back to SAND!". I definitely get the voltage up and down the spinal cord when the group harmonizes the word "sand".
Nights in White Satin is also awesome
The Seekers. A massively talented Australian 60’s foursome. Harmonies that will put them above everyone mentioned here! Three songs in particular, written by Tom Springfield; A World of Our Own, I’ll Never Find Another You, and Georgie Girl. I’m going to listen to them right now. And you should too!
Sadly we lost Judith last year but the boys are still plugging away. My favorite is in When the Stars Begin to Shine at the near end when she hits that high note and makes it look so effortless. ps, for those that don't know Tom Springfield is (was?) Dusty's brother.
The Carnival is Over and Morningtown Ride are my favorites.
Judith could recite the Sydney phone directory and it would be good, but what the hell, I vote for Georgie Girl. Lightning in a pint-size bottle.@@paulhare662
They are incredible!! 💕💕
LOVE the Seekers
When singers had actual talent….no auto tune needed.
Real singers still have actual talent and do not need auto tune.
@@Karma-qt4jiBut they all do.
@@newnoggin2 They all do what?
No way bro I'm a Belieber
@@nz1229 some things you should just not admit to in public... 🤣🤣🤣
The Everly Brothers, wow such harmonies. I absolutely love them😍
Yes! And don't forget Cathy's Clown.
The Association, especially with Cherish, released August 1966. Ranked as the greatest song for over 20 years, a distinction that no other has come close to. True 6 part hormony. Like most great artists, they were even better live than on recordings. I agree with several of your choices as being Top 10, but it's difficult to rank any higher. Largely unknown now to newbies.
Queen, Bee Gees and the Carpenters and BoysIIMen (End of the Road!) should all be on this list.
Down on Bended Knee was my favorite by Boyz Ii men.
I love Queen, the Bee Gees and the Carpenters as well and was surprised to not find them on this list. For more recent groups I'd go with Pentatonix, Home Free and Voice play. There's a lot to choose from for sure.
Most of Queen's harmonies were: Freddie, Freddie, Freddie, Freddie, Roger & Brian.
I understand music is subjective, but no Bee Gees or Carpenters? Hmmm….
Queen - We Are the Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody
The Mamas and the Papas - Monday, Monday
ABBA - The Winner Takes it All, Fernando, Dancing Queen
The Beach Boys are widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential groups in the history of popular music, especially for their use of complex and distinctive vocal harmonies. However, the origins of their harmonic style can be traced back to an earlier vocal trio, The Lettermen, who were a major inspiration for the young Brian Wilson, the creative leader of the Beach Boys. According to a documentary I watched a few years ago, Wilson was fascinated by the close-harmony pop songs of The Lettermen, and he would listen to their albums for hours on end, studying their arrangements and techniques. This prompted me to explore the music of The Lettermen myself, and I was amazed by their beautiful and smooth blend of voices. It seemed as if Wilson had learned from them how to craft his own intricate and expressive harmonies for the Beach Boys. I was glad that I watched that documentary, as it led me to discover and appreciate The Lettermen, who are now part of my “harmony-centric” playlist. This playlist features other groups and artists who are known for their harmonic magic, such as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Three Dog Night, Queen, ABBA, Bee Gees, The Mamas & the Papas, The Cowsills, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Association, Peter, Paul & Mary, The Beatles, Manhattan Transfer, and various individual songs that showcase the power and beauty of vocal harmony.
Little river band, " Its a long way there" tops my list..thanks for participating.
Or "Help is on it's Way" or "Take it easy on Me". They had harmonies that the Eagles made comment on. Love Little River Band
The Hollies, almost all their songs but "He ain't heavy, he's my brother" is my favorite.
That song is my all-time favorite along with The Whole of the Moon by The Waterboys!
I loved the Hollies, but hated that song. Much prefer "Look Through Any Window", has great harmonies.
Agree with all that BeeGees should be here -- pick a song, any song. Also CSNY - Southerner Cross gives me chills every time I hear it. The pick for ABBA was ok, but so many better options to showcase their sound: Fernando is the one that brings so much emotion for me.
Yes~You are right about Fernando~!!!!
Even DANCING QUEEN!
I agree. The ABBA song should not be on this list.
I remember in September '76 I was in Galicia,Northern Spain, walking along narrow lanes and up a hillside. As I passed through several hamlets I suddenly heard the song "Fernando" playing in Spanish on a radio and it really sounded so moving that I relive that few minutes, nearly 50 years later whenever I hear it.
You almost got it right...California Dreamin' #1 in my book, sends chills up my spine every time I hear it. And Cass Elliot was the band member who gave the Mamas and the Papas their distinctive sound.
That song was going to be my top pic too but dang number 1 is awfully good too. I wouldn’t choose between them
Case had a wonderful voice, to be sure, but this is about harmony. John Philipps had his faults, there’s no denying, but he was who arranged those beautiful harmonies. My favorite, TWELVE THIRTY.
@@marvinmeeker5765 Yes it is. Kudos to John Phillips, as well as everyone involved. When a song comes together as beautifully as California Dreamin" It's like capturing lightning in a bottle.
The Moody Blues had some of the most lush harmonies of the late 60's and early 70's. Hypnotic and tight, and like most prog rock, best experienced while "under the influence."
And although they were more of a jazz quartet, The Manhattan Transfer had some of the tightest and most intricate harmonies in all of music. Two of their biggest crossover hits are great examples of this: "The Boy From New York City," and "Soul Food to Go" (which also had an amazing music video featuring stop frame animation in the style of the old award-winning California Raisins commercials).
How in the world were the Bee Gees not part of this list? Unreal!!!
Yes~Unreal for sure~!!!!
California Dreamin was one of the first songs that I learned to play on the piano. There's so many things to love about this tune. 🎶😍
Peter, Paul and Mary had some phenomenal harmonies and I'm surprised to see no mention of them.
Way too much commentary and not enuf music!
and most of the time their list sucks
Hello, Queen? Bohemian Rhapsody? Killer Queen? Somebody To Love? Not even an honorable mention!
How about any early Bee Gees? To Love Somebody? New York Mining Disaster? Massachusetts?
After I first heard them in the Stayin Alive days, I found their early songs & was in love forever.
“How Do You Mend a Broken Heart” eclipses them all.
How can you mend a broken heart is one of my faves!👍
Celtic Thunder over the last 10 years has done many, I love all your pics and realized sometime ago that when groups harmonized well it pulled me in, its a feeling we all get when the vocals grab you..🙏🏻❤
Some of the very best songs with beautiful harmonies:
1) We May Never Pass This Way Again - Seals and Crofts
2) To the Last Whale - Crosby, Stills & Nash
3) Watershed - Indigo Girls
These three groups have so many songs with incredible harmonies.
Yeah! S&C's Summer Breeze
Boys II Men “Motown Philly”, Patience and Prudence “Tonight You Belong to Me”, Az Yet “Hard to Say I’m Sorry”, Rufus Wainwright with Martha Wainwright as back up “April Fools”, Robert and Jonny “We Belong Together”
yesss 👏🏽👏🏽
Backstreet Boys "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely".
Conspicuous by their absence is The Manhattan Transfer. There are so many of their songs that have gorgeous harmonies it’s hard to pick one. I think I’ll go with candy, but you can go to virtually any of their albums and find beautiful harmonies.
I especially love "Operator" but there are lots of good ones from them.
Manhattan Transfer is not listed because they would take up all 10 slots... Shaker... Birdland... Nightingale sang in Barkley Square... I could go on and on The best harmonies in the last 60 years!
Saw them in Copenhagen in 1989,at Tivoli Garden
My father inlaw who lived to be 102 was a part of the " Wrecking Crew" Phil Spector's go to Hollywood studio group. He played string instruments and was part of many of these songs. Funny thing is of the hundreds of songs, albums and shows he played on jazz was his favorite music. He also wrote and played the theme song for Green Acres and the Wild Wild West. RIP Bill Pitman.
For a modern contribution, the harmonies of the Wailin' Jennies cannot be beat - beautiful, soft, and rich. I also like Alisson Krauss on the Raising Sand album (Grammy winner). I think this topic needs to be separated into "Duos" for two people singing harmony (where you can't get a full chord with just two voices), "Trios and Quartets" which is so common and has enough voices for full chords, and "Quintets plus" for extra special harmonies with five or more voices. Thanks for the discussion, MsMojo, and thanks for the great contributions, commentors!
The final section of Cherish is amazing vocal harmony
This is a good pick, as well.
Absolutely. So powerful. Gives me chills.
This list needs a part 2
*DO YOU AGREE WITH ME*
Definitely!
I think this is part 2 - at best
Yeah, there are way too many songs with awesome vocal harmony to fit in a 13 minute video.
Totally agree!!! 👍👍✅
A kid of the 60s here, nice selection. Real voices instead of processed garbage.
My favorite is and always will be the Eagles and Seven Bridges Road. Five guys with very different voices singing in absolutely perfect harmony!!
These are all great, but my #1 is and will always be the six-part harmony of The Association singing Never My Love, particularly the bridge, which is only four measures long.
I forgot about that one! Fantastic song
And Cherish!
yes, such a beautiful song! Never grows old!
I grew up with many of these classic tunes. I can thank my parents for introducing me to them all. 🎶♥️
Same here
Especially my mom!📻
In the 60-70's it was all we could do to listen to them behind our parents back. I remember my Grandfather in disgust saying how it will all be forgotten in 2 or 3 years.
How could I forget 'Suite Judy Blue Eyes'--Crosby, Stills, and Nash!!!!
I'm glad that Seven Bridges Road made the cut. It's probably my all-time favorite harmony. The Dirt Band could probably have contributed to this collection, too.
I’ve recently been listening to America a lot.
A Horse With No Name
Ventura Highway
Very nice harmonies there.
Love America.
One of my Favorites.
This list should at least include one song by the Hollies.
Their harmonization is really something to behold!
Especially live. How well they pulled off those harmonies on stage was *astonishing.*
There's a couple You Tube videos of them performing live on the BBC in 1969. Incredible!@@ballhawk387
No surprise: Graham Nash.
Yeah, this video needed 20 spots, they left a lot of bands off. Aside from all the other more obvious Hollies tunes, "I Can't Let Go" always gave me chills.
Your picks are spot on! As a child of the 50's ,60's and 70's these are bring back a lot of memories!!
Helplessly Hoping by CS&N has to be one of the best harmonies ever!
Another list please, at least two more, maybe. 🎶❤️
The harmonies of the Everly Brothers influenced The Beatles, The Beach Boys and so many more, plus related people's harmonies are always more amazing and again there are so many to choose from, for example you completely forgot the Bee Gees entire catalogue, from the 1960s onwards. 🎶
Why bother desiring another video? If they’re so stupid they didn’t prominently feature The Beach Boys and Queen, it’s obvious they’re stupid.
There are so many awesome harmony songs that it is impossible to agree on a top 10 list.
I agree. It should have been done as a top 20, or even a top 25. Even then it's difficult to compare groups. They all had their versions of beautiful harmony. The number one pick is totally up to individual taste.
That is true. I thought for sure Little River Band would at least get an honorable mention here. Talk about some amazing harmonies!
Amen to that.
"I am a Man of Constant Sorrows" gets me every time.
You could say can't really say top 10, you could say some of the top songs. Being those songs were in a window of time of about 12-15 years only. They are definitely some of the greatest with harmonies along with a lot more. Still great, Thanks for putting them on here.
I’d include CSNY on some of the greatest harmonies ever.
Dito
At one point a group I was in tried to master the harmony on Suite: Judy Blue Eyes and never quite made it (CSN) - maybe Helpless for CSNY? Then there was Carry On - so many.......
Helplessly Hoping
Don and Phil. The personification of vocal harmony.
Their pick here was worthy, yet nothing topped "Cathy's Clown" for harmonic perfection.
I would include “Hang On” (Wilson Phillips), Good Vibrations (Beach Boys), and She's Gone (Hall & Oates).
Wilson Phillips is NOT a good example of harmony. That was just singing in thirds. When the lead went up so did the harmony, when the lead went down so did the harmony. No separation. Good harmony is Simon and Garfunkel, Everly Brothers, CS&N, Beach Boys and The Association.
The harmonies of Crosby, Stills and Nash are my absolute favorites.
As a retired choral director I was surprised to find many of these songs amongst our repertoire. The rich harmonies lend themselves beautifully to choirs.
How did the Wilson Phillips miss the list, they are such good harmonies
Bee Gees - "Too Much Heaven"
Crosby, Stills and Nash - "Wasted on the Way"
Styx - "The Best of Times"
James Taylor - "Carolina in My Mind"
Little River Band - "Lady"
Paul Anka & Peter Cetera - "Hold Me Till the Morning Comes"
REO Speedwagon - "Can't Fight This Feeling"
Just a few you left off the list...
I personally, for the harmonic balance put " California Dreamin" at the top of the list. The singers loft the tune into the air and its just "picked up" by the others, who "answer" the sound by adding to it, rather than all singing the same notes, demonstrating a " group vocality".
They "echo" each other!
Thats why i think it should be top of the list
En Vogue also has amazing harmonies, I especially enjoy them in Free Your Mind.
Don't Let Go still resonates
Yes! Their "Who's Loving You" before "Hold On" gives me literal chills
@@BlackQueenA1825 Also same with their harmonies in Never Gonna Get It
@@NYChica23 Came here to say this. Along with Telephone Line by ELO
Or Whatta Man.
10 Just isn't enough how can you have this list without the ASSOCIATION ,every thing they did fits perfectly
Pure Prairie League's "Amie" (1972) and Moody Blues' "Tuesday Afternoon" (1968) always give me the feels -- the kind of songs that cause me to stop whatever I'm doing and listen all the through to the end -- if on the radio and I arrive at my destination, I'll stay in the car listening to the end!! 👍💯
NGL, Whitney Houston singing “I Will Always Love You” still gives me emotions. Crime it’s not mentioned.
What about "The Hollies"?. A superb close harmony group.
LOVE the Hollies!❤❤❤❤
He Ain't Heavy...
The list is 60s and 70s heavy, proving that the BEST music came from those periods
Pentatonix has some of the most exquisite and sophisticated harmonies ever heard. Check out especially songs like "Mary Have You Heard," and "Hallelujah."
Totally agree, but did you mean "Marry Did You Know?"
Two other notable omissions are any one of several big hits by Chad & Jeremy (Yesterday's Gone, A Summer Song, or Can't Get Used To Losing You), or Peter and Gordon doing World Without Love.
I can't believe you left off The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie & Lindsey Buckingham harmonize beautifully together.
I was coming in to say this. Thank you.
Check out Walter Egan with Stevie Nicks, "Say You Will"
@@paulhare662 "Say You Will"? I looked through Walter Egan's entire discography & couldn't find this. I know that she & Lindsey Buckingham sang with Egan on "Magnet & Steel".
@@WrenFaithBridger Won't you say you will. Sorry. It's on the Fundamental Roll LP. Just found it here on You Tube.
Check out Stevie Nicks duet with Kenny Logins
Whenever I call you friend
Dolly, Linda, and EmmyLou With "To Know Him" and "After the Gold Rush" ; Pentatonix on "Hallelujah", and Joni harmonizing with herself on "Raised on Robbery."
The Trio were truly great! One of my favorites by them was "The Sweetest Gift".
yah: After The Gold Rush is #1 on my list for pure harmony
i love harmony....these are truly wonderful
In the last musical I was in, Avenue Q, I had the chance to play one of my bucket list roles: Kate Monster. My spouse asked me what is an oddly specific thing I’m looking forward to with the show. I responded that there is a song, I Wish I Could Go Back to College, that has some beautiful 3-part harmony, and if we were able to hit that harmony, I’d be in music nirvana. After only 2 or 3 times singing it, and Nirvana was achieved. 🥰
I think Toto should have been included, there 4 part harmonies on africa are amazing
While I agree with all of these picks, I feel that En Vogue (pretty much anything) should have also been mentioned. Their harmonizing was amazing.
Their entire second album gives me chills! Funky Divas indeed!
Excellent!
Nothing wrong with your harmonies list, but this would be my 10 harmonies:
It's A Long Way There - Little River Band
Oh Darlin' - Beatles
Black Water - Doobie Brothers
Reelin' in the Years - Steely Dan
We May Never Pass This Way Again - Seels and Crofts
Nights In White Satin - Moody Blues
Holdin' On To Yesterday - Ambrosia
Lyin' Eyes - Eagles
Woodstock (the song) - Crosby, Stills, Nash
Superstar - Carpenters
I appreciate the diversity of your choices! Well done! You could add to this list 50 more Beatles songs, 40 more Beach Boys songs, a dozen Carpenters songs, a dozen Bee Gees ("Lonely Days"), more Simon and Garfunkel, a few by the Association and the Turtles, "He Aint Heavy" by the Hollies, and if you want your socks knocked off, WATCH and listen to the UA-cam of "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" Andrews Sisters. I love the harmony singing on Contours "Do You Love Me"
For me it's always "Southern Cross" Crosby, Stills and Nash. Love the harmonies.
Wooden Ships was also darn good.
The Bee Gees - best harmonies of all time and not one song in this list! So hard to believe. Too Much Heaven? How Deep is Your Love?
Yes and "I started a Joke".
Bee Gees. Everything they did truly amazing.
Harmonies that give us chills are you kidding Harmonies! Bee Gees - Too Much Heaven, Streets of the Bronx · Cool Change, right off the tip of my head real harmonies with chills anyway.
Just like Ronnie sang “Be my little baby, baby my darlin, oh oh oh”. Great list 💖🙌🏼
Ronnie is great but how about the Shirelles? "Will you Still Love Me Tomorrow" is very emotional if sung as a ballad without the bop.
I did not know that Ronnie sang all the parts on that song!
Wilson Phillips there entire discography is killer harmonies.
Great video!
Glad you added the clip for I Will Wait. They are fantastic, and that's one of my favorite songs.
Larkin Poe's harmonies are *always* phenomenal, no matter what song they're doing.
