I really don't consider much difference between Europeans and Americans except a couple of things. Groceries, in the states we tend to buy groceries less often and stock up more at once. I will take a european cafe for coffee over any starbucks any day. And public transportation here sucks compared to europe. With that said, castle's kick ass and anyone who has them should be proud as hell

Hard Rock hallelujah is the song that got me into Lordi, which eventually lead me to more European Rock, which lead to years of listening to Rock music that most Americans have no clue about, and are missing a ton of AMAZING bands and songs, which lead to finding other genres from European artists, which lead to this late night rabbit hole of old Eurovision vids... haha, but for real, in the US we get Rock music slowly losing steam, and good rappers becoming outcast in that genre as shit mumble rappers and Cardi B with her where rap taking front and center I'm happy I can easily find good music from all genre and all corner of world..

Berlin was in East Germany, not in West Germany. Germany was devided between West and east. But also Berlin (wich was far from border on East side) was devided between West and east. Not to be duche, but I just wanted to point that out 😅😌

Hard Rock Hallelujah was freaking awesome. Also, Finland = heavy metal. Finland was showing their culture, thats what eurovision should be about. It was perfect on all sides.
The grannies are still so cute, I think there are few things more adorable than grandmothers baking and being sweet.
Russian grannies are the best. They will constantly offer you tasty food and tea even if they barely know you and you'll be uncomfortabley full at the end of the day, but worth it.

From Latvia the funniest moment in ESC 2020. The ex soviet bloc’s songs were either crazy, crazily brilliant, or, in Armenia’s case, both. I know that a Bey-hop song will divide people, but They were my winner.

Cleo showed sth different, Conchita showed sth different. They are both good at what they do. I know Poland never wins but it isn't a fault of anyone. There are just better performances than ours. Maybe we will win someday but I wish that It'd be by a song which people would love

Run Away is amazing! It does NOT deserve to be on this list. I remember watching these performances way back when they were first airing, and I loved Run Away. I never thought to myself "Wow, that sax solo sure is crazy!". In fact, I was surprised to see the world become obsessed with it years later. It's just a sax solo.
I think it was just because it became a huge meme, that's why it was considered quirky. But it's a hella catchy song for sure

Yeah, angels mentioned and the not biblically versed narrator thinks it's biblical. So if somebody says God, god, or gods - it's automatically Christian? Oh how vulnerable to charletans that leaves people. Satan ahead of that gang. Which is full of conflicts, bickering, cheating, lying, stealing, backstabbing and war: violence and decadence in general in his honour. What ever keeps us occupied in our pride so truth wouldn't reach us.
Wrap it all in the plastic of lies and escape from everything normal, life supporting. Let people wear plastic and chemicals to destroy the nature, their own bodies included. Let them be sexually careless, so diseases would spread random and fast. Let them wither their bodies with substances - addictions help the death last long, for years. May they live at nighttime, and sleep at daytime, so the internal clock is confused and adds to the physical problems.
May they mutilate their bodies with pieces of metal, plastic, ceramics - and whatever can be needlessly needled, clipped, clinched... inserted into a human body. Let's have a contest who can put the biggest lump of material alien to human body in it. Anybody imbedded in them a bowling ball yet? On second though: maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that... somebody will mistake it for a challenge. Sarcasm is not easy, in written form especially.
And all this so we can be as naturally beautiful as the flowers: for who wouldn't want to hang clothes on flowers? Put paint on them for being so ugly? Or to hang metal on them, preferably pierced.
Oh yeah - seems that Satan has got many of his wishes through to people: be it ESC or other pop culture. Why is the stuff so popular I mentioned in the 3 chaptures above?
This song was kinda humanistic foremost, or polytheistic, some sort of cocktail of them - saying that demons (or was it devils) and angels have come to watch them. 1000s of years old creatures, and this would impress them :) Well, one can always dream.
But they're watching us all the time, not coming only if we step on a stage to sing. Everyone is importan all the time - not just the famous. Satan likes us to think so, or the mock us that we're not famous: to depress us or to create a desperation in us to become famous.
As if that would make us important. We're important since birth. And for each person most beautiful and important Jesus sacrificed himself, so each of us could live, even after death. Death is foremost a checkpoint: Did you accept the ticket of life (creation), or do you want to follow death (destruction)?

So many good opportunities - Cezar the opera vampire from 2013, Latvia's Pirates from 2008, Latvia's Cake to Bake from 2014 (Latvia u ok?), UK's Flying the Flag in 2007, Germany's entry in 2009 when Dita von Teese showed up from nowhere, or Lithuania's Eastern European Funk... and that's not even tapping into the WEIRD songs!

People would also be surprised at how many world-wide hits in general actually originated from Eurovision - hits such as Volare, Congratulations (1968), Eres Tu (1973), etc.

I remember being a young teen, in love with rock (as I still am) and absolutely loved Lordi and was so happy they won. It was a very unique performance but still an amazing song that I listen nowadays
