Hi, I love Tool as a band but it kinda gets boring if you ONLY react to them. But I don't want to unsubscribe cause I really enjoy your reactions. Could you please react to Flesh and the power it holds by Death?
@Simon BeeHYPE Sure, why not? It's a masterpiece of a song. Well ok, he could react to Lack of comprehension, Spiritual Healing, voice of the soul too. But I think Flesh and the power it holds is a really good start to Death. Cause he gets to know Chucks skills on the guitar and hears his voice. After that he could react to Voice of the soul maybe.
Ls Metalhead I understand where you’re coming from 100% and I see you comment on every single one of my videos - but, this is a long term project for me if I’m being honest...with all due respect I have 59K subscribers in which many have divided opinions on what I should react to! At the moment I’m just finishing off Tool’s discography before I start new bands 🙏🏻 I’ll be doing this UA-cam thing for years like I have no plans on stopping any time soon so your request will get done eventually and I appreciate you constantly asking me but just understand it from perspective as well bro, I can’t satisfy everyone’s needs at once - I need time to film/edit each and every video as well as working a full-time job❤️🙏🏻
Each time I listen to this, I get varying quantities of tears from, what Genius refers to as, the chorus: "You're the only one who can hold your head up high Shake your fists at the gates, saying 'I've come home now Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended It's time now, my time now Give me my, give me my wings!'" Maynard's delivery is so undeniable and powerful it just kills me.
I think that most of that would technically be a “pre-chorus”... and the actually chorus, (musically) would be the “wiiiiiinnngggsssss” part, most of the chorus being instrumental... although the composition of this song is very much unorthodox, although certain parts are obviously verses, and what not... most of the song is just composed very loosely in a way, and more of an instrumental journey with vocal additions almost used as another instrument.
“10’000 days in the fire is long enough, you’re going home”. That line pushes you to the edge. Then the verse after pushes you over. Incredible lyricism.
The "collective judas" is referring to the congregation that Maynard's mother was a member of. Apparently, after she got ill, they started to say that her illness was a result of her having sinned. They started to look down on her. Acting like hypocrites. But through all the trials and tribulations and gossip, Maynard's mother always kept her faith. FYI, lol
Especially around the chorus at 14mins....he's making he music ascend and leap, like in my mind really moving the sound forward and up, its such a cool sensation as a listener. I really feel like his sound is driving that crazy bus a lot of the time.
Watching you discover TOOL is a trip in itself. They're more than a band, they're a whole goddamn experience. DEFINITELY catch them live if you ever get the chance. I'm hooked on these videos. It's so fun watching new fans being made. Enjoy!
The strength Maynard possess through his his vunrabilty is unmatched. Strength through vunrabilty, that's something we could all work on. We all have feelings, now we need to validate those feelings.
Fantastic reaction of a fantastic pair of songs! "Cold fluorescence" is the phrase that always chokes me up. I can imagine Maynard by his mom's death bed under unsympathetic institutional lighting having this conversation with her, at least in his own mind, as she passes away. I cannot imagine that I would ever be able to share such an emotional experience with anyone, let alone write those lyrics as a song I'd have to sing in concert repeatedly. I just don't have that much emotional endurance. I respect Maynard so much for making himself that vulnerable for the sake of Tool's art. What a masterpiece! It is a unique work of art that I hope endures long after our generations have passed into history.
I was lucky enough to hear this live too....unforgettable! People kept taking pictures and Maynard had to ask them to stop it, saying PLEASE 4 or 5 times before the song and spent most of the concert with his back to the audience.
@@thegoatchild3545 on the recent tour with all the cameras put away Maynard was actually interacting with the crowd, visible, and facing forward. And the one thing they do different from so many bands, is they have zero cameras/screens focusing on the band members. It's all trippy visuals and light show. Amazing experience
As I've posted on other peoples reactions to these songs, they have become a bit of an anthem for me after I lost my wife Marian to cancer early last year. The sorrow in Maynards voice, especially in the second part, sums up exactly what the intense grief feels like. I would love to be able to shake Maynards hand one day and thank him for these.
Carlos, my thoughts, prayers and sympathies to you! This song has taken new meaning to me since losing my mom 1 1/2 years ago - the emotion in Maynards voice & lyrics is palpable, and is certainly shared by all that have lost a loved one! Peace & love!
The parts that always get me are: "she never told a lie, might have told a lie, but never lived one. Didn't have a life, didn't have a life, but surely saved one." And when he says "set as I am in my ways and my arrogance, burden of proof tossed upon nonbelievers. You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence..." I love these parts because they're just relatable to how so many of us see our mothers. Most moms are Angels, and I think of losing mine when I listen to this (vicariously I suppose har har) and my heart breaks. Beautiful songs.
Yeah...these two are different. If you have ever lost anyone close to you...good luck keeping it together. Powerful and universal. Pretty much sums up Tool.
The day I bought this album, I got a call telling me that my father had just passed away from terminal cancer. To deal with the grief, I put on the 10,000 days album and this song just destroyed me emotionally.
also according to the writings on mjk's first wine: nagual del judith, judith had a lot of dreams about flying hence the wings (also the angel thing too obviously)
@@chrisseals5872 first, sorry for your loss. This song had new meaning when my mom passed 1 1/2 years ago. I still think of her and the emotion comes flooding back when I hear this song. It's a powerful one. Can completely understand the emotional destruction. Peace & love man.
Fucking genius song by 4 genius people who came together to play unique music for our benefit. The emotional roller coaster of this song is on another level as Tool always manage to do.
I truly have a hard time when someone asks what my favorite tool song is. It’s almost impossible to pick. But honestly, when I’m asked the first thing I think is this duo of songs. There is just something about it that digs into my head every single time I hear it in a way other songs don’t. Great reaction, keep it up!
The way the layers of atmosphere weave in and out of this song is incredible. It took me so many listens to really understand these two tracks. This is one of the most "organic" songs I've ever heard.
Awesome reaction man, these two are masterpieces 🔥 The Pot is imo, Tool's most accessible song in terms of listen-ability & mainstream appeal, but it's such a great one too. Excited for you to listen 👏
This is a song that connects me in a very emotional way to Maynard. My mother's name was Judith, and died 4 years ago from ALS. Thankfully, she only had to endure less than 350 days after diagnosed. I cant imagine 27 years. It's a horrible tragedy to watch such a strong person deteriorate physically like that, all the while they are completely aware, yet can do nothing. Same part that hit you, hits me like a sledgehammer, even today. I cried again. But its healing. Keep up the great job, man. Really enjoy your Tool vids, from day 1. Thanks!
Been waiting for this one. Didn't get any tears though, damn. 😆 These two tracks have been a good reminder for me to really appreciate our mothers while we have them. Get ready for a mood change on the next one. 🤘🏻
I didn't get tears the first time. Because I was just taken by the new-ness of it. At least that's just me. I think if I was on camera I don't think I'd cry either. Mainly because I would let my mind wander and think about other stuff as to avoid it, haha.
@@jhaz89 Meant as more of a joke seeing as so many people on UA-cam tear up to this. I didn't, either, before I followed along with the lyrics. Everybody's different. 😀
@@mattvsmetaverse plus it kind of makes me think of my mom. Very religious, like the nicest human being on earth. She had breast cancer. She recovered from it but ever since she has pretty bad anxiety. Mostly about problems going on in the family and shit. She cares too much about us and it stresses her the hell out because she wants us all to be happy so any little conflict going on she'll have anxiety about. Hard to imagine a more selfless person. So it's just like shit, she's such a great person and she doesn't deserve this. So I think that's partially what gets to me a bit about this song. But this is the only song that makes me tear up. It's crazy
You’re going to dig the head bobbable beats of APC, I’m excited for that part of your journey. Love seeing the next generation experiencing the amazing music my generation was blessed with.
I saw this live in Denver right after the album came out when I was in HS. Man I balled my eyes out that show was insane. They opened up with Rosetta Stoned but when they played Wings everyone cried.
Just to expand on my earlier comment, Not a big deal but Judith probably should have came first. It's an angry Maynard who had yet to come to grips with what happened to his mother while she was still alive where as these songs you just did is a more thoughtful Maynard who has finally accepted it and mournful. Judith is a banger. You'll dig it.
I HIGHLY recommend literally anything from A Perfect Circle! Much like TOOL's Fear Inoculum, A Perfect Circle's latest release, "Eat the Elephant" (2018) is a MASTERPIECE. In all honesty, A Perfect Circle's whole catalog, as you'll find to be true with TOOL throughout your journey, is phenomenal!
“Cold fluorescence” whew... I felt that. As a writer I’m forever in amazement of this man’s talent. Listen to him. His gift is perspective, his vehicle is music. His voice... just wow.
Everytime I listen to this song/songs I am always left utterly incredulous as to how human beings were able to compose something this special. It’s like...just not humanly possible to have written this. It truly feels like it came from somewhere else, from heaven itself
"None of us have actually been there, not like you" refers to the amount of pain that Maynard's mother went trough, as she had a stroke and she remained paralyzed when he was 11 years old until she died. For 10000 days. That's why he says "10000 days in the fire is long enough.."
I saw them perform this live on Mother's Day 2009. Maynard began the song by whispering "Happy Mother's Day" into the mic. I don't think there was a dry eye in the place. Talk about an emotional performance.
You have to credit the genius musicality in all of Tool's work: able to take you on a spiritual journey, borderline out-of-body experience, even with some of the most taboo-like topics, or even some others more on the commercial side (e.g. Hooker With A Penis), making the whole thing just mind-numbing and ethereal...
It’s funny that you see “Hooker With a Penis” as a “commercial” track, what with the title, the chorus of “Fuuuuuck you buddy!” And “And if I’m the fucking man, then you’re the fucking man as well, so you can point that fucking finger up your ass!” Lol... not to mention the entire message of the song being an ode to anti-commercialism. Lol. “All you read and wear or see and hear on TV is a product... Waiting for your fat and dirty dollar... (Shut up and...) BUY!!!... BUY!!!... BUY!!!... My new record!!!! BUY!!!... BUY!!!... BUY!!!... Send more money!!! FUUUUUCK YOU BUDDY!!!! FUUUUUCK YOU BUDDY!!!! FUUUUUCK YOU BUDDY!!!! FUUUUUCK YOU BUDDY!!!!” Lol... not exactly a “commercial” song... but I do get what you mean... you’re just saying that it’s a lot more quick and easy and dirty and simple to get into. It’s considerably catchy compared to much of the other songs Tool has to offer. Although there a lot of other songs that I would put in front of HWAP as a more “commercial” venture for Tool... from Ænima, “Stinkfist, 46&2, and Ænema” are definitely the more “commercial” tracks of the album... (Even though one is a sexual metaphor of anal fisting 🤜🏽 as a metaphor for desensitization of society to media over time, while another is an ode to the apocalyptic destruction ☄️ 🌊 🔥of one of the most decadent, sinful, and fake places in America, California, or more specifically, LA...) lol... Tool doesn’t exactly do “commercial” well... lol... at least not from the standpoint of the A&R departments of the record labels... lol... to us TOOL fans, they do it AMAZINGLY! Lol! 😂
@@plexus got my point from A to Z mate... The topics themselves being so incredibly varied & going from somewhat of a 'mainstream' concern to much darker ones, deeper more spiritual ones, adds to the uniqueness of Tool
My Grandfather passed away this past Tuesday. First song I put on in the Car was 10,000 Days on my way home from the hospital. Has a whole new meaning for me.
Freagairt iontach, a Drew. Great reaction, Drew. This one runs deep- a sober, somber tunnel through the unbearable passage of anguish, grief to remembrance and honour. The shimmering ripples of textured guitars and Maynards near mantra like hushed tones of reverence to his Ma in part 1 are entrancing. Haunting. Initially, I thought he was singing too low- I thought it was a bit too mumbled and couldnt hear what he was saying. But over the listens, its intention to be all the one volume like that hooked me in like a spell. The whole ting again plays out like a movie scene- the gathering darkness gathering you down and down the dark road, lit up and lead on by the lightning in the distant, as forbearing thunder sparks up the sky above. Rain pours down, Adams mournful guitar repeating itself , allowing Maynard more time to lead us on this journey. By the time everybody begins to rock again near the end, as you noted, the mood isnt exctly uplifting as such, but theres some form of release had- then it bows out again, as part 1 did, comin full circle. Incidentally- theres footage of Part 2 from Dublin at the aul' Point theatre ruffly this time in 06. ua-cam.com/video/igzR0IlgtLo/v-deo.html 'Tis auld footage from phones from the time- but it sounds good. He sings it louder live- and watch the green streams of light wow the audience. The song itself - fair play to ya man with yer analysis. Its a long, deep album overall, so take yer time and again, it all slots in much more o'er time. Up next is The Pot. Uptempo, some bouncy riffs and beats- a good swing back to more energized Tool, especially after the darkened spin "Wings" takes ya.
A real heartfelt fucking tearjerker that rocks! Thanks for documenting yourself becoming a big Tool fan. It's an awesome thing to witness. It's why I watch reaction channels. Like hearing it myself tge firsr time.
If you could have, I would have recommended to listen to this in the dark, with your eyes closed. I do it everytime I listen to this song at home, and granted it’s only happened once, and years ago, but as a non-religious person, I had a ‘moment’, more spiritual I’d say, but just that ‘pulled out of my skin, enlightened’ kind of feeling, and it cemented this song as the best. Wven without that, this song is amazing, front to back, there is never a dull moment. Tool is amazing
Stinkfist, Lateralus, Schism, The Pot, 46&2, Sober, and Culling Voices. If you haven’t yet, check these out and then listen to their complete discography. Such an incredible band 🖤
For those who like Tool, I highly recommend looking into J.S. Bach, a fantastic composer who was spiraling out all the way back in the 17th century. The Fibonacci sequence is all over his music.
Hey Drew, you should react to 10,000 Days LIVE from 2006. You can really hear Maynard is holding back tears trying to sing it. If you are interested, the video is "TOOL-10,000 Days 12.10.2006" by huntingtonst. I would paste a link but i dont wanna be spam.
Love you're video reactions. Subscribed an I have binge watched like crazy. With my incense cup of coffee an blanket 😉 Maynard's eloquent inspirational beautiful song. The love Maynard had for his mother to have written such a great masterpiece in memory of her. It's such a tribute. May the tears flow for Judith Marie the Unconditional One Deserves Her Wings. So Beautiful

Drew, you NEED to listen to this...These 2 songs and the song 10000 days all blended as if they were one song! *Tool - Wings For Marie (Pt 1), Viginti Tres & 10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2) [ Separate Channels ]* Tool made it to be a bonus track!!! I made this myself by mixing it myself after hearing a rumour they designed it to be heard this way. It works VERY well, I can't find it on UA-cam as a link though...
My simple breakdown of this is part 1, Maynard's mum dying and Maynard saying it's ok for her to go. Part 2, the funeral, how he feels about everyone and her death, and his mother's journey to heaven. Beautiful song. I wish they had made a video for it.
I actually can't listen and read the lyrics to this song without tearing up. If it doesn't make you think of you're own mothers love and what all mothers do there is something wrong with ya
The best way to listen to this album is at 3 am. Lights out. A nice joint. Comfortable chair. An amazing sound system pushed to the max volume. With your eyes closed. The best trip while staying still.
It’s Crazy to think about how for this current generation, Tool is basically “classic rock” in the way that when I was a kid in the 90s, Pink Floyd was to me (as far as both the huge rock band from the generation before me, and literally from a time-perspective, as in, Pink Floyd was from late 60s, but mostly the 70s when I was first getting into them in the mid-90s...) Jesus it makes me feel old to think if it that way. Tool is actually fucking classic rock now! And it makes me feel even older when I actually hear bands like nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Red Hot Chili Peppers in ACTUAL classic rock radio stations, being played right next to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Creedence Clearwater Revival... I mean, Jesus!
Eric Stodolnik it is weird to think of it that way. I have brothers and sisters who were huge Pink Floyd fans in the 70s when i was born. And Floyd to them was the same way when i was in high school as Tool is to me now.
Eric, I’m right there with you !! Blows me away !! I heard a Stone Temple Pilots song on Classic Rock station just the other day !! I grew up watching TOOL, grow and get better with time just like a fine wine 🍷!!! Love watching young Drew dig these guys !!!
unicorn girl 605 .... 🦄 👧... yeah STP is another one I e noticed that gets played a lot on classic rock stations too... even Alice In Chains! I think those bands that have been mentioned so far in this comment thread are particularly played on classic rock stations alongside The Who, Black Sabbath, and David Bowie because their music just particularly goes well with that classic rock sound. But yeah, before long, we’re gonna be hearing Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, and Weezer next to Crosby Stills and Nash, Simon and Garfunkel, and The Beach Boys! Lol! Crazy to think that the music of my youth is considered classic rock now. I’ve even heard Sublime played on classic rock stations! One thing I think is awesome about this though, is that people who are stuck in the 70s, who were actually kids when this actual classic rock was first released and who probably thought all that “new music these kids are listening to” in the 90s that many considered not to be good music, who would say, “this new music these kids are listening to these days is crap! Good music died in the 70s! Where are all the 3 minute guitar solos?” Etc. Etc. Etc. Are now being exposed to these 90s rock bands being played right next to the music that they’ve been stuck listening to for the past 5 decades... and them being played in this new context for them as equals to the bands they’ve always considered to be the end-all, be-all of rock music will actually open them up to “new” music lol (3 decade old “new” music lol)... that’s at least one positive for this music being re-classified as “classic rock” lol But everything is being shifted over... I’ve even heard straight “oldies” stations (like 98.7 KLUV here in Dallas) that once only played 50s music, and SOME early 60s music... but mostly songs like “It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to” and “Johnny B. Good” and “Pretty Woman” And “All I Have to do is Dream” and “Jailhouse Rock” And “Splish Splash” And “Great Balls Of Fire” And “Yakety Yak” and “Earth Angel” And so on and so on... now I will hear stuff like Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” And “Crocodile Rock” And “Rocket Man” And the late 60s Beatles where they used to only play the 50s Rock n roll sounding early 60s Beatles, like “Twist and Shout” And “She Loves You” And “I wanna golf your hand”... and stuff like a lot more Creedence Clearwater Revival, And early The Who, And Joni Hendrix and so on... where all that music was strictly “classic rock” growing up and “oldies” radio stations strictly played 50s rock, and a tiny, tiny amount of early 60s rock, but only if it had that old “50s-rock-n-roll” sound, like they early Beatles, and early Beach Boys, And so on... but really 98% of the time it had to be legit 50s rock... like Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, Evelyn Brothers, Elvis Presley, And a bunch of Motown hits... basically a 24 hour ad for Muscle Shoals Recording Studio, lol... But now everything has shifted over at some point, where they are now playing 60s music, and even up to some early 70s stuff like the Elton John material I mentioned, on the fucking “OLDIES” stations, as well as 90s rock that used to be relegated to “alternative rock” stations as well as “Metal and Hard Rock” stations, next to bands like Korn and Mudvayne and Pantera and Metallica... have now been shifted over to classic rock stations. It’s just crazy! But that first time that I actually hear Tool’s “Sober” being played after “Stairway To Heaven” or “Hey Jude” on one of these classic rock stations, I may just slit my wrists then and there! Lol!
Hey, listen to me. Really, listen to me. Just before playing lost keys + Rosetta Stoned, take a block notes and a pen. You'll need them. You will really need them.
There's aother song to go with the Judith Marie tribute. #Judith by Maynard's other band, #aPerfectCircle. This is a song obviously written during the anger stage of Maynard's grief over his mother's death. You should react to it. It's also a great song. Heartfelt in a more loathsome frame of mind. God is not Maynard's god in this song.
I had the pleasure of helping to care for Judy the last few years of her life at the retirement home and she was a very genuine person that always tried to stay positive and she absolutely loved James unconditionally. I sometimes smile and chuckle when I think back to the first time I heard her jamming in her room to tool.... watching a person in their 50's jamming to metal doesn't happen too often so it did catch me off guard.... And at that time she was new to the facility and I really hadn't gotten to know her yet but she said that was her son's band so proudly. I'll never forget the look on her face and how happy she would be when James would come in to visit with her... The love was truly unconditional
I lost my mom, then discovered this song after a run through of 10,000 days. I wasn't a fan of it the first time. Got to this tune and...I can't listen to it unless it's one of those moments, know what I mean? Maynard certainly struck the right notes with his writing on these two. Niagara falls, Frankie :)
I would so love to see what David Fincher could do with this tune in one of his great montages. Christopher Nolan would be another I'd love to see incorporate Tool tunes into a movie or two. They are a perfect fit. Game of Thrones is the best TV show to place Tool tunes over scenes, I've found.
Reading along with lyrics to this one is a whole other experience. This one may have benefited from that. You really get a sense of what hes saying that way.
There are some videos of the two tracks edited over each other along with vignt tres occasionally refered to as the secret track of the album. They kinda echo each other and then they both line up and it is amazing. It sounds as if it was meant to be that way but the band never confirmed anything

These 2 songs are literally the only songs that have ever made me cry... And still do to this day.
"10,000 days in the fire is long enough, you're going home" makes me cry every single time, damn it
Each time I listen to this, I get varying quantities of tears from, what Genius refers to as, the chorus:
"You're the only one who can hold your head up high
Shake your fists at the gates, saying
'I've come home now
Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended
It's time now, my time now
Give me my, give me my wings!'"
Maynard's delivery is so undeniable and powerful it just kills me.
Sean Bowen I’m exactly the same! Especially from ‘fetch me the spirit...’ when the high base line follows Maynerds melody. Insanely beautiful that is!
Chokes me every time
I think that most of that would technically be a “pre-chorus”... and the actually chorus, (musically) would be the “wiiiiiinnngggsssss” part, most of the chorus being instrumental... although the composition of this song is very much unorthodox, although certain parts are obviously verses, and what not... most of the song is just composed very loosely in a way, and more of an instrumental journey with vocal additions almost used as another instrument.

Very well said
Especially around the chorus at 14mins....he's making he music ascend and leap, like in my mind really moving the sound forward and up, its such a cool sensation as a listener. I really feel like his sound is driving that crazy bus a lot of the time.
Hard out bro the bass in this song is so present, my word.

He's regretted it...
@@grimmj0ker how do you mean?
"Cold fluorescence" is one of the most powerful lyrical phrases I have ever heard.
@@grimmj0ker how so
He rarely does this one but you could tell it was difficult when he did do it
I had the pleasure of experiencing this live at Wembley Arena in 2006. Room was in silent awe/appreciation and lighters were out 🤘🎶
I was lucky enough to hear this live too....unforgettable! People kept taking pictures and Maynard had to ask them to stop it, saying PLEASE 4 or 5 times before the song and spent most of the concert with his back to the audience.
lemonlateralus I was very lucky to see them do this one Live in Vegas at Pearl Theater!! Probably 12 years ago
This song is AMAZING live, i seen it live in 08' in Baton Rouge!!
@@NooDLES411911 yeah if the people that work in the arena record the concert what do you take pictures for?
Welp, guess I'm gonna cry today.
I actually sent these tracks to my mom on Mother's Day and made her cry.
Tool makes you realise that there is one nerve deeper to touch, flick, and traumatize.
Well said.
Yes, and i welcome the trauma
As I've posted on other peoples reactions to these songs, they have become a bit of an anthem for me after I lost my wife Marian to cancer early last year. The sorrow in Maynards voice, especially in the second part, sums up exactly what the intense grief feels like. I would love to be able to shake Maynards hand one day and thank him for these.
Sorry for your loss. Tool helps many of us cope with life, spiral out friend.
stay strong, mate
carlos slater so sorry Carlos
I'm sorry Carlos, be well
Carlos, my thoughts, prayers and sympathies to you! This song has taken new meaning to me since losing my mom 1 1/2 years ago - the emotion in Maynards voice & lyrics is palpable, and is certainly shared by all that have lost a loved one! Peace & love!
8:05 This "slam" sound is that of a casket closing.
I've legit heard these songs millions of times and never heard that part in that way until you said it. That's cool but also heartbreaking.
°∆•SciFiSky•∆° Fuck, after just losing my father in 2018, your assertion really hit home. Great insight.
Good god...
A master class in story telling - musically unmatched - emotionally intoxicating. Simply put , the Best band in the world .
The parts that always get me are: "she never told a lie, might have told a lie, but never lived one. Didn't have a life, didn't have a life, but surely saved one." And when he says "set as I am in my ways and my arrogance, burden of proof tossed upon nonbelievers. You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence..."
I love these parts because they're just relatable to how so many of us see our mothers.
That bass line after ‘give me my wings’. Holy shit. I love that. Great song(s)
When it goes "give me my wings", chills every time.
Patiently waiting for Right In Two.
Misterwhiters ... (*Thick Alabama accent): Seat’s taken!
😂
So many Tool reactors, even the great ones like Drew, always seem to let Right in Two sit on the backburner. Can't wait either!
He's gonna be blown away, but I'm also patiently waiting for Rosetta Stoned lol
Reserve a sit for me please
@@Mazzini11 Well he's reacting in the same order the album does
I love watching people discover tool ❤
Ive been listening to them since my teen years and love just about everything they put out.
I could listen to this song twice a day and it'll still bring tears to my eyes
“Judith Marie, unconditional one”- the first time I’ve ever cried because of a song 😭😭😭
Fucking genius song by 4 genius people who came together to play unique music for our benefit. The emotional roller coaster of this song is on another level as Tool always manage to do.
Gives me chills everytime. Beautiful, gut wrenching, powerful, perfect.
12:30 through 13:50 makes me emotional every time I hear it. Absolute masterpiece.
Love your TOOL reactions! Greetings from Costa Rica!!! 🤘
Tool - The Pot is incredible man you gotta check that out for sure :)
I just saw tool for the first time and with my mother (who introduced me to tool 18yrs ago), I will be reading these lyrics at her funeral.
@@mattvsmetaverse true that. Generally I'm not one to give a shit about lyrics but man these are heavy.
Followed by Puscifer and all of those remixes
Great breakdown and understanding of a song that has so much to say. I hope the majority of listeners appreciate the message 💜
Great reaction. Nice synopsis/review, I think this is most you've dug into the song and discussed. Keep on spiraling, The Pot is fookin great.
“Cold fluorescence” whew... I felt that. As a writer I’m forever in amazement of this man’s talent. Listen to him. His gift is perspective, his vehicle is music. His voice... just wow.
Just wait for Rosetta stoned bro.....you're in for a trip
Josh Moore I didn’t “get” this song for years until one day I did, and it’s one of my favorites now. It’s a grower for sure.
@@luckieshel musically this song is absolutely crazy and ridiculous, speaking about lyrics its outta this world 🤣.
Like number 900!! Love the genuine reactions, Tool really is a journey out of this world. Keep rocking brother! 🤘🤘
Everytime I listen to this song/songs I am always left utterly incredulous as to how human beings were able to compose something this special. It’s like...just not humanly possible to have written this. It truly feels like it came from somewhere else, from heaven itself
This is sureal. I just discovered this band a couple of months ago and boy what a trip this has been so far.
This song. This fucking song. It's a soul laid bare, and it gets me every time.
I'm already crying and you've only just read the description...
A son that loved/loves his Mother unconditionally 💯❤️
Loving witnessing your tool journey so far Drew.
Er ma gerd..im crying thinking about it
I saw one of the first performances of both parts live in 2007. Be jealous! :p
Deftones - White Pony
Great reaction as always 👍
You have to credit the genius musicality in all of Tool's work: able to take you on a spiritual journey, borderline out-of-body experience, even with some of the most taboo-like topics, or even some others more on the commercial side (e.g. Hooker With A Penis), making the whole thing just mind-numbing and ethereal...
Proof of this will be the next one up the tracklist: The Pot... Better bring your A game for this one Drew
Lol.
“All you

BUY!!!... BUY!!!... BUY!!!...

FUUUUUCK YOU BUDDY!!!!
FUUUUUCK YOU BUDDY!!!!
FUUUUUCK YOU BUDDY!!!!
FUUUUUCK YOU BUDDY!!!!”
Lol... not exactly a “commercial” song... but I do get what you mean... you’re just saying that it’s a lot more quick and easy and dirty and simple to get into.
It's always wonderful to see Maynard's progression from his anger in Judith with APC to the acceptance and praise in this
Freagairt iontach, a Drew.
Incidentally- theres footage of Part 2 from Dublin at the aul' Point theatre ruffly this time in 06.
ua-cam.com/video/igzR0IlgtLo/v-deo.html
'Tis auld footage from phones from the time- but it sounds good.
Hope you check out their cover of the song You Lied
A real heartfelt fucking tearjerker that rocks! Thanks for documenting yourself becoming a big Tool fan. It's an awesome thing to witness. It's why I watch reaction channels. Like hearing it myself tge firsr time.
Beautiful anguish. No loving son ever penned a more moving eulogy. Masterpiece
also i likened the whole song up and downs in rythms to the the emotional rollercoaster one feels when losing someone
Allegaeon “Proponent for Sentience III “
Allegaeon “Gray Matter Mechanics “
This is a couple of my favorite songs, I can't w8 😁
I would paste a link but i dont wanna be spam.
you can actually see him wipe his eyes during the song, it almost looked like he was wiping tears
This is their Masterpiece
what a song. among their top 5 all time for me
Love you're video reactions. Subscribed an I have binge watched like crazy. With my incense cup of coffee an blanket 😉 Maynard's eloquent inspirational beautiful song. You believed
You believed in movements none could see
You believed in me
A passionate spirit
Uncompromised
Boundless and open
A light in your eyes
Then immobilized
Vacant, broken
Fell at the hands of those moments that I wouldn't see
'Cause it was you who prayed for me so
What have I done to be a son to an angel?
What have I done to be worthy?
Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence
Difficult to see you in this light
Please forgive this selfish question, but
What am I to say to all these ghouls tonight?
She never told a lie
Well might have told a lie
But never lived one
Didn't have a life
Didn't have a life
But surely saved one
See? I'm alright, now it's time for us to let you go
How we follow the path of the hero
Boast about the day when the rivers overrun
How we rise to the height of our halo
Listen to the tales as we all rationalize
Our way into the arms of the savior
Fading all the trials and the tribulations
None of us have actually been there
Not like you
Ignorant fibbers in the congregation
Gather around spewing sympathy
Spare me
None of them can even hold a candle up to you
Blinded by choices hypocrites won't see
But enough about the collective Judas
Who could deny you were the one who illuminated
Your little piece of the divine
This little light of mine
The gift you passed onto me
I'll let it shine
To guide you safely on your way
Your way home
What are they going to do when the lights go down?
Without you to guide them all to Zion?
What are they going to do when the rivers overrun?
Other than tremble incessantly
High is the way, but our eyes are upon the ground
You were the light and the way that they'll only read about
I only pray Heaven knows when to lift you out
Ten thousand days in the fire is long enough
You're going home
You're the only one who can hold your head up high
Shake your fist at the gates saying
I have come home now
Fetch me the spirit
The son, and the father
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended
It's time now, my time now
Give me my, give me my, wings
Give me my
Give me my
Give me my
Give me my
Give me my wings
You are the light, a way
That they will only read about
Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance
Burden of proof tossed upon non-believers
You were my witness
My eyes, my evidence
Judith Marie, unconditional one
Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence
Difficult to see you in this light
Please forgive this bold suggestion
Should you see your maker's face tonight
Look him in the eye
Look him in the eye, and tell him
I never lived a lie, never took a life
But surely saved one, hallelujah
It's time for you to bring me home
These lyrics are fucking poetry
Without Adam's guitar you will not be able to feel Maynards words! They roll together then Danny brings in the percussion and blows you away!!!!!
*You were the light and the way.... they'll only read about!*
I .... only pray heaven knows when to lift you out.
Not a single comment throughout a complete tool song... any loss you’ve suffered can relate to this song
My simple breakdown of this is part 1, Maynard's mum dying and Maynard saying it's ok for her to go. Part 2, the funeral, how he feels about everyone and her death, and his mother's journey to heaven. Beautiful song. I wish they had made a video for it.
13:47 - 16:25 the tastiest bass playing I've ever heard. Fucking amazing!
That's a journey you want to take again, instrumentally, then the meaning takes shape.
Justin’s Bass part in 10,000 days, incredible
Bro once your done with tool you have to do APC they amazing as well mer de noms or thirteenth step would be best to start with
thanks for this video, It means a lot to me.
Yea these are emotional man
Beautiful song.
I actually can't listen and read the lyrics to this song without tearing up. If it doesn't make you think of you're own mothers love and what all mothers do there is something wrong with ya
Became a patron for this.

I know you pain brother!
Eric Stodolnik it is weird to think of it that way. I have brothers and sisters who were huge Pink Floyd fans in the 70s when i was born. And Floyd to them was the same way when i was in high school as Tool is to me now.
Like in jj abrams star trek beastie boys is classed as classical music and to me tools music will be up there with the greats of all music
Etc. Etc. Are now being exposed to these 90s rock bands being played right next to the music that they’ve been stuck listening to for the past 5 decades... and them being played in this new context for them as equals to the bands they’ve always considered to be the end-all, be-all of rock music will actually open them up to “new” music lol (3 decade old “new” music lol)... that’s at least one positive for this music being re-classified as “classic rock” lol
But everything is being shifted over...
😂😂😂👏🏻
The Pen is the most important part for sure
Hopefully he won’t forget it...
Hopefully he won’t shit the bed...
Judith was written a few years before she died, but yeah, great song as well!
Great song. I'd also like to see him react to A Perfect Circle - Orestes. Another emotional and almost trance-like song.
Chills every fuckin time I listen to this!!
I would so love to see what David Fincher could do with this tune in one of his great montages. Christopher Nolan would be another I'd love to see incorporate Tool tunes into a movie or two. They are a perfect fit. Game of Thrones is the best TV show to place Tool tunes over scenes, I've found.
“I feel like this is probably going to be an emotional track…”. Oh, brother. You have no idea…
Reading along with lyrics to this one is a whole other experience. This one may have benefited from that. You really get a sense of what hes saying that way.
I think he has the lyrics up on his screen
Derek Bittner they’re on my screen - you just can’t see them
There are some videos of the two tracks edited over each other along with vignt tres occasionally refered to as the secret track of the album. They kinda echo each other and then they both line up and it is amazing. It sounds as if it was meant to be that way but the band never confirmed anything
Great channel, Its mine time , give me my wings. Gives me goosebumps
