From what I understand, this is a song they don’t play live often. I was lucky enough to see them perform it. When the song was finished, Maynard left the stage with his face in his hands(I assume crying). Adam Jones walked over and held him for a little while. Then they came back on stage to finish the set.
There's a clip on youtube of them playing it and someone in the crowd shines a laser pointer in Maynards eyes during the outro "daylight dims leaving....". He walks off stage and the song is played out minus Maynard. Pretty sure it's the last time it was played live.
Well that sucks. Maynard was very quiet but cool during the Tool concert I was at. Very vocal and demanding during the APC concert. They would allow Phones and would kick people out that tried to record. He went off for about 15 minutes. It was kind of funny.
Thats why they do not play many songs live anymore. It's too draining and too emotional most of the times, "picking scabs again", just to perform a song
Tool reactions are a serious guilty pleasure of mine. I watch as many as I can and I have to say, this is a really cool thing you're doing! Props to your mom for having an open mind and props to you both for finding such a cool way to spend some quality time with one another! I'm definitely looking forward to more Tool reactions.
You got it. And thank you. More coming very soon. We will also be exploring other bands and some of her music too. She told me what it was and I have no idea who she's talking about so that should be fun. Thank you for watching and commenting.
This song makes me think of my mom, who died of a stroke at 62. To see you watching it with your mom (who, btw, kind of reminds me of mine) is exactly what I need. Cherish her.
"This little light of mine, a gift you passed on to me. I'm gonna let it shine to guide you safely on your way, your way home..." That is just incredible, brought chills and tears instantly.
I listen to it all the time. I lost my mother a few years ago and she liked this song. It reminds me of her and I feel she is with me when I listen to it.
ok. so glad i found your channel today. Maynard is my fave song writer and musician of all time. A Perfect Circle is my Fave band of all time. though i love them all of course. nice to see someone else who appreciates their art!
I knew it would be a success!!!!! Such a beautiful song it is virtually impossible not to get emotional. I am enjoying your channel. Thank you guys so much this is great!
@@hangingwithmom4364 I get to relive experiencing TOOL again for the first time in a sense through your reactions so honestly thank you guys! I enjoy the input on the songs from you and your mom. You have a new subscriber! Till next time. Peace
If you listen to Judith by A Perfect Circle(same lead singer), that was written before 10,000 days and you can really see a change in his perspective of the struggle his mother went though. Probably not a song your mom would like but it's incredible listening to his change emotionally from before till after she passed.
Tool reactions are definitely my #1 guilty pleasure.........minus the guilt tbh lol. I love that you listened to this one with your mom.....that's heavy. And now you'll always have this video, even when she's gone. I love Tool.....but I know my mom wouldn't quite like them. Just too heavy lol. But, after watching this.......I honestly am going to play this with my mom. I think it would help her understand why I love this band so much....and her. Awwww.... ;P
Oh man, I hope you had her listen to Judith by a perfect circle. The most beautiful thing about these songs is learning the personal growth he experienced within his perspective. Btw, Maynard started hiding in his live concerts because he was getting sick of everyone obsessing over him. It's about the music, not him.
Maynard is in the background to showcase the other members of the band instead of in the spotlight like so many other singers who take away from the musicians.
@@hangingwithmom4364 i think its mostly because he has to get very emotionally invested in his performances, and he doesnt want to be up at the front if he tears up or something.
Y'all need headphones, especially for this pair of tracks. There's so much ambience and intricacy (and bass) here that won't come through on a laptop speaker.
The songs are definitely intimately personal for MJK, he needs to be in state of "isolation" to bring forth these emotions that make these songs so powerful.
We'll get to those... Stay tuned. She already has a few from back in the day she's ready to share with me. I'm looking forward to that. Thank you for watching.
@@hangingwithmom4364 that's cuz i'm a french canadien... so my english is not perfect lol... and i'm a tool fan since 1998... saw them 3 times in quebec city
Dude. Is there like a tv in the background or did whoever made this video insert their own audio. 5 seconds into the song and I'm not sure I can continue.

Wow. They did not play it when I saw them. Great song though. It would be good live.

Such a visceral track. Or pair of tracks? To me, you just can't listen to one without the other, kind of like Parabol/Parabola.

HOW DOES SHE NOT CRY!?!?!? Your mother is way more of a savage than I am! I cant get through a lyric video of this song with out at least a tear
She is savage! Ha, I think she was analyzing too much to cry.
I saw it in concert. And I went to heaven.
Ha, that's awesome. Thank you

Wow you even know the best lyric video for this song as well. A real tool fan indeed xD
Hahaha. I try, I try
Except it has "cold fluorescents" when, shouldn't it be "cold fluorescence"?
@@l.a.native6921 and it has another two mistakes, but is vert interactive which gives more emotion to the song

Hmmm that’s an interesting take. I wonder
More recently he says it’s just a good place to hear his band mates sonically in the moment, where he resides on stage nowadays.
See your shirt! Another SATX fan here, saw tool here a few years ago. Great video!
YES! Their show at the AT&T center was the best sounding concert I'd ever been to. So much fun.
