Thank you for this research! I’ve tried yesterday 3 ways - corn flakes, pringles and panko. My family had a blast! They liked all, but classic panko that I used in the past went from 10 to 8! And corn flakes now are on 10 and potatoes chips are on 9,5. Thank you for inspiration!

I made delicious chicken tenders last night in my Heritage Air Fryer Convection oven and they turned out amazingly. I used Organic Blanched Almond Flour and Unsweetened shaved coconut for the coating. It was amazing. Dipping sauce was Sriracha, Maple Syrup sauce. It was amazing.

I love your recipes...thank you! I put some buttermilk in my egg after soaking the chicken.. and season my flour and panko....paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper. I cook at 390..flipping and spraying after 8 min. The breading stays on 100%...thick and crunchy...and this is better than any deep fried chicken we've ever had.

TLDR: toast the grated almonds first
long version: here in Brazil, we use grated manioca (or corn) flakes for breading (called "farinha")... and if we toast those grated manioca and season it, we make "farofa", which in itself is a common brazilian crunchy side dish. And many times we add grated ant toasted nuts to the "farofa" for more texture and flavor...
Turns out, i tried breading chicken (or beef) with toasted grated almond (alone or mixture with panko) and it went great... Cashew nuts are even better

Perfect timing on this!😁 In April I had a gallbladder attack and when I saw my doctor she said "NO beef and NO greasy food"☹️. So I've been looking for healthier alternatives to my favorites...I like the corn flakes breading and for a spray instead of avocado oil I'll use olive oil spray.
    My substitute for French Fries:
I use red potatoes, cut them into wedges and steam cook for 4 minutes. Rinse and dry on paper towel. Then freeze them. When I want to make fries I just use 2 tbsp of olive oil in nonstick pan and brown. Then coat in my favorite seasoning mix. Crispy and not greasy.😁

I have figured out that your target audience is not diabetics, however, when you do tests like this if you could also add a healthy option which you do (low carb) such as cauliflower rice vs. white rice, you might get more viewers.
I have been researching what I can do in my air fryer and someday try this for chicken tenders: Lupin flower for the first coat, egg (of course), and then 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese, 1/3 cup of pork panko and 1/3 cup of EverCrisp.
For those who don't make sauces from scratch, G Hughes makes many low-sugar sauces a diabetic can use in moderation. I love what you demonstrate and appreciate your advice.

They are the best though fried in butter, or if you could dip them in butter and then fry them in the air fryer or maybe put melted butter in an oil sprayer and spray them with butter? All I know is that the saltines with butter are REALLY good, just like the old casserole toppers where you mix saltines with butter and put it on top of your casseroles. 1) If you put some paprika in the breading you can get the color you want.
    2) I think a mix of potato chip and bread crumb would work better; the bread crumbs would soak up some of the oil so it would crisp up. (Yeah, I'm the one who makes YOUR recipes and I'M telling YOU what to do? That's chutzpah!
    3) I make baked tortilla chips; I'm thinking that would make a good breading too.
    4) The kitchen reno is looking great. Is that a TV right above the range???
    5) Holy crap you need a lot of equipment to make your videos look this good.

Yummy! I'm in Oz. I bought a cusinart Airfryer and it burns everything...my husband wanted the Phillips one, like yours...looking forward to doing the chicken tenders!
    Thank you from Oz🥳🐝🐝🌻🌼

I’m I Oz too. You might be using too high temp. I think most set at 180, try lowering to 170 and doing say 6 mins , then check and turn and do a little longer. Experiment with it until you get what you like. Good luck

Hey Angela, have you made a full bbq chicken? That is one of the things I wanted to make rather than to buy a store bought one.
Also my unit seems to smell of cooking fat, like deep fat frying?!!!
      Help!🙏😂

    • @angeladundon7271
      @angeladundon7271 2 роки тому

No I haven’t done a whole chicken , but I’ve done wings, drumsticks and those chicken portions. I prefer to do a whole chicken on my bbq.
The smell might be fat that’s dripped down to the section under your tray. Check to see is you have some fat there and wash the tray in hot soapy water. I don’t wash tray every time just when it gets messy. My kids use it so I don’t realise how bad it is sometimes 😳
Try veg in it, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini…Yumm

When i make mine i put panko and some seasonings ( eg. smoked paprika, pepper, garlic salt, etc.) and i put it all in the blender and it becomes like a sand texture. I coat the chicken tenders in oil then dunk them in sand. Its the best breading

Oil aerosol sprays are hard to find here in the UK. I put the chicken in for a few minutes and then add oil using a small silicone brush to get it as light and even as possible

With your nut mixture you can also do almond flour.

I cooked salmon for first time and it was awesome! Coated my hands with olive oil and held the filet to coat with a little oil and then the Panko. The salmon was crispy on the outside and soft and flaky inside.

Salmon is great in the air fryer isn't it? I dry my Salmon, salt and pepper and leave uncovered in the fridge for 6-8 hours. Just sprinkle a healthy amount of blackening and it is terrific.

I don't have an air fryer yet, but I'm wondering about blending the breading. For example, blending the potato chips and corn flakes for the breading to get the best of both types while offsetting the not-so-great results from using the breading individually.

Hey I think you enjoy what I do for Shnitzel for Shabbos.
With Equal parts honey mustard then egg or 2 salt paper mix and dunk the chicken in the batter.
Can brine for hour till overnight.
Then panko those guys, kids love it!
I personally like it with honey mustard sirracha dip

Try Doritios as breading, just smash them in the bag with your hands so you get alot of different texture. Its amazing !!!!

My FAV breading for chicken and fish of all times, is pulverized pork rinds. Especially the spicy ones! I discovered this for myself (years ago) when I needed a zero carb breading. I was snacking on pork rinds and thought aha! 💡 I’ve not tried it in the air fryer (I have 2 Cosori’s, don’t judge) but now that I’ve seen this video I’m going to do it. Thank you for you expertise ☮️ & ❤️

Great vid! Corn flakes are king in my book. I usually don't even blend them, I just crushed them real hard with my hands and that gives the tendies that crust similar to the past one at the end, but the same could be achieved in the blender just pour one batch first and make it real usmooth and a second batch that doesn't get nearly as much blending and that should give you a great deal of variety and surface area on your crust.

i use the 3 part thick breading and i sometime skip the egg and replace it with the milk i was Marinating the chicken in it have to be double breading so the milk don't leak , and it comes sorta cooked in milk and so tender
