he is totally right about parents needing to be calm. when I was four years old, I tripped at daycare and managed to slightly crack my skull. (the day care was in a basement and had a really thin carpet before concrete) the teacher told me I was okay before picking me up and seeing the damage, but because she managed to hide me and my bloody self from mirrors, other children, and her face, I was convinced it was just like when a scrapped knee hurts a lot but is fine. never, ever let the child realize how broken it is, the only thing that could have made the situation worse is if I had know what happened because then I would have been screaming. kids are okay if they think they are okay. I still have a small scar ten years later but no trauma of the incident. I also got angry with a doctor while getting stiches, not because of pain but because they were blocking me from the TV.

    • @skyesfallenxx
      @skyesfallenxx 2 місяці тому

YES! Kids mirror your emotions, I ALWAYS tell people this and especially parents but they freak out anyway! I grew up with 4 younger siblings and you really quickly learn this when you're the one who's taking care of them 80% of the time.
I try to keep a serious but calm approach whenever a kid is significantly injured, and I try to keep them busy by asking them what they were doing and trying to get them to tell me how they feel. Kids are usually calmer when you're calm, and will happily explain everything to you as long as your attitude is not aggressive.

    • @d-meth

They can charge people a few thousand for a stupid cut. There was a case of new parents freaking out because their kid cut herself and it seemed to be bleeding way too much so they went in, they waited long enough that it stopped bleeding and the doctor just cleaned the would in the sink and put a bandaid on it. They got a bill for $2k. They had insurance.
      Life saving can cost millions.

The mind, the brain, is unbelievably powerful. Put too much stress on it and it WILL cripple you. If you've never experienced a panic attack, you don't want to and you have zero idea just how hard it is to do normal, day to day things. If you've been diagnosed with anxiety disorder, seek therapy. It's every bit as real as having a broken leg or collapsed rib cage...

    • @theakaneko

That heart attacks in women and panic attacks can look identical really doesn't help with the anxiety causing the panic attack either. Then add some acid reflux just for kicks and giggles! ... it was not a fun day...

I do my best to be nice, but after WalMart, Spencer's and Hot Topic I went from me to calling the person who pulled out in front of me a c**t, everyone in traffic was "B***h!", and "GREEN MEANS GO MOTHERF****ER!!" at the top of my lungs...I was shaking. When my son was small we spent a LOT of time in the ER, I kept a bag of entertainment supplies for him hooked on the handle of the front door to grab and go. Love your channel! I’ve had to go to the ER multiple times for chest pain with the first being when I was only 19. While not a heart attack I have a heart/autonomic system issue which can cause tachycardia so severe I go into V-tach…which can be deadly. I’ve had cardioversion(aka being shocked) 7 times. 😕 They can’t put in an automatic defibrillator Bc my tachycardia gets above 150 often just from standing up or even randomly when sitting/laying down. It’s a pain. So I have an implanted monitor which alerts to my phone when it gets too high or starts turning into any dangerous rhythm. It’s a rare issue so I’ve had trouble having ER drs take me seriously due to my young age.

@@juliakuri135 Thank you. However since I live in extremely rural southern Mississippi on 98 acres(mostly forest) surround by National Forest…Lyme disease was actually one of the first things I was tested for once I got a dr to listen. And Ive been tested multiple times over the years since it can sometimes be difficult to detect & as better testing has come out. Unlike many suffering chronic illness Im happy for any dr to test for Lyme…as long as ins pays for it & they aren’t solely focused on that being the sole answer…since even though I don’t spend much time outdoors anymore I have dogs who do. And it would be horrible to discover years too late that a worsening of symptoms was not caused by my known health issues but rather Lyme…which can often be successfully treated IF caught early enough.
It’s always something I suggest people ask to be tested for if they live anywhere they might be exposed and are experiencing symptoms that may suggest it…just as a precaution.

First of all, youre hilarious. Secondly, crazy story, i had a heart attack at 6 years old. We were immigrating to usa, and it took a lot of going back and forth between venezuela and here for a few years when we were in the immigration process. Maybe it was something about not being used to the climate but my sister and i would get sick a lot when we came stateside. So one time i got a cold or something like that, my parents took me to the dr and they prescribed me some medicine. Probably some antibiotic but i honestly dont know. But i remember the medicine tasted good (probably bc itbwas for kids) so one night i drank the entire bottle and it enduced a heart attack. My mom noticed right away though and raced me to the er. Had chest pain that was so bad & my blood pressure was significantly elevated so much so that my physician called the ER .... luckily it was stress/ anxiety from my mental health issue stemming from my mother dying. It felt like my chest was going to snap in half. That was the 1st time I was in the ER not for a broken bone, UTI, or food poisoning. ER staff are amazing!

6:15 I once had a 9/10 stomach pain when I was 9. My mom took me to the emergency room at 10:00 pm, I arrived, they said “what’s the problem?” And once we explained, before I knew it I was on an iv, after taking 10 minutes to calm down. Out like a light. Next, they ran some tests, and thought I had appendicitis. Before I could react I was in an ambulance, being transferred to a children a hospital, where I would stay for two days. It was just some *really* bad stomach pain.

Ok, you’re telling me people complain about IVs? I had one when I had a tonsillectomy and at age 10, that was the coolest thing I had seen in my life! It was fascinating! That was my favorite thing (aside from the popsicle I got) from that experience!

I have super small veins lol they when i went to get an endo they had to put it in my hand. between the cold and the anxiety every time i used my phone or moved it hurtt. I asked the doctor to double check it before the procedure just to make sure the nurse didn't miss or something. (No hate on the nurses, the first one gave up though lol)

I love your videos. I once had to go to the Er for an anxiety attack, I had taken a Xanax and it didn't alleviate the symptoms. I would have loved to go the urgent care but i had state health insurance that I could only go to the er out of state... I know you don't want to see patients for anxiety attacks, but sometimes insurance is dumb.

I have frequent panic attacks which lead to palpitations but I’ve never gone to an ER but I have once gone to a urgent care before I new about it. Luckily I now know to take my meds and keep the ER free in that way.

That IV one gets to me - I've had MANY IVs over the years so I know how they should feel. The time before last the nurse didn't quite get it all the way in the vein - it was enough for it to kind of work but it was also a bad enough miss that afterwards that vein shrank down to nothing and another vein got MUCH larger - thank you anatomy for building in back up paths in the vascular system!
Unfortunately, one of the two good for IV veins I had is now unusable, leaving me with just one - and being bed bound is causing weight gain making that one harder to hit. (my other veins that'd typically be used for IVs are in areas I have CRPS - aka a whole lot of pain)
Anyway, love these vids - thank you!

MY FRIGGIN GOODNESS THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE CHEST PAIN REASONS. I’ve been having chest pain for a while after watching mistakes in the hospital. I didn’t want to tell anyone about it because I was really scared. The chest pains would cause my anxiety because I thought I was gonna die. Now I know I’m just stupid

the drive-through Covid test is a god send, when i had covid and was barley able to breath and walk because of it and had no one to drive me, i drove myself there and took less than 3 minutes to get me swabbed and on my way home!
